Emir Wrench has never had a problem pulling women with his unconventional smile. However, as a business owner, he’d consider cleaning up his act. When a client, Dojah Bee, walks into his mechanic shop and takes his breath away… smiling his way into her heart isn’t easy. When the two offer to barter services, getting work done to his mouth takes on a whole new meaning.
I wanted to like Wide Open but, Dojah made it impossible. I had a hard time reconciling her reckless behavior with her age. I initially thought Dojah was in her mid to late 20s until her age was actually revealed. I would like to think 40 year old professional women are not out here having sex with random men they meet on dating apps. We get that out of our systems in our 20s and 30s. By the time we hit our 40s, we're making better choices than that. That whole situation with Jordan had me scratching my head. Dojah acted all dramatic running to her doctor to get tested for STDs when Jordan pulled the condom off just to have unprotected sex with him the second time! The fact that she even entertained him after that BS he pulled just pissed me off. I didn't even want Emir with Dojah. I didn't like them as a couple and I thought he was too good her. I didn't sense the chemistry or a connection between them. I think that's because it felt like their relationship was rushed and, normally, that's not a bad thing. But, with this book, it just didn't work with these characters. Lets talk about their first date. When Emir showed up to Dojah's house wearing a suit, the first thing out of her mouth should've been, "Do I need to change?" and his answer should've been yes. FYI, the opera is ALWAYS a fancy affair. Some would even say a black tie affair. No one goes to see Phantom of the Opera wearing jeans, a tank top, and clear platform heels. Ever! Wide Open didn't work for me and I really wanted it to. I just couldn't connect with these characters and I think my dislike of Dojah played a huge role in that.
The story was a lot to take. I liked the character's ability to pull me into their account. It isn't unusual for the opportunity to bring people together and have things work out for them. I enjoyed this quick read.
This was a great story of expected love. Sometimes waiting on our type will make us miss out on our forever. It is a good developing storyline. Short sweet and to the point. It is definitely worth a reread.
Head over Heels. Heart Eyes. A mature but cute love story.
It’s nice every once in a while to experience well rounded leads that are everyday people.
The journey Keys took us on with them was quite refreshing to read. I loved that they both knew what they wanted and deserved in a partner but also their willingness to be receptive to experiencing that and more. I loved that they didn’t allow outside influences to disrupt what they were slowly building. Love is grand when done and experienced in an eye opening way.
Although Doja found Emir attractive, judging him by his outer appearance, she figured he wasn’t her type. Eventually agreeing to go out on a date with Emir, Doja learned you can’t always judge a book by its cover. I really enjoyed this book. Another great read by this author!
This was a good story about Emir and Dojah. Dojah was looking for love in the wrong places. Emir shoots his shot and gets shot down. He apologizes and Dojah has a change of heart. It was beautiful how their lives fused with one another and both became open books for each other. It was an emotional book I was mad, laughed, and cried. Just the right amount of love scenes. I definitely want to know how Koran made it through his grief.
Doja thought she wanted a particular kind of man but Emir changed that for her. She would have potentially missed out on true love. I wanted to punch Jordan in the face, he was corny. Overall I enjoyed the story. Hopefully we can get a story on Alumni and Koran.
This was a nice book. I enjoyed the pace of the book until the main two characters finally entered a relationship. I felt like the book was rushed after that and there were a few unanswered questions. I wanted more drama with Jordan since Dojah went back to him. While reading I kept thinking of the artist Doja Cat given the same name but different spelling(even the last name Bee instead of Cat). I expected a little more since I enjoyed previous books from the same author. I hope the next release gives me what I’m used to reading.
If at first you don't succeed... I am so glad Dojah saw her worth. She learned to love herself first! When she got past the superficial desires, she ended up with what she truly longed for. Emir being a mature man, not settling, went for the stars! This story was so touching. I hope to read on Alumni and Karan finding true love someday. Great job Ashantay 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎉🎊🍾🥂
This was a new to me author that I’d heard good reviews about. I will definitely give her another chance. However, I’m not sure if it was the pace or flow of this book but something was off and didn’t click with this story for me. I liked the overall idea of the story even understood where she was going but it never really fully connected to me.
The story is good but something is off.....Dojah confused the hell out of me. I uderstand being professional, successful, and lovely but she did some crazy stuff. I pusrhec through the weird flow of the story and finished the book. Still confused on what is off......
This author keeps putting out these 🔥shorts💥 good reads. Dojah and Emir’s story is well written with a good flow. Not everyone can put all of the necessary sauce into a short story. Ms. Keys is definitely the Novella Queen! Her love for books show in her writings. She does an excellent job of giving you a beautiful love journey, with just enough drama and love in these shorts. I always look forward to the strong epilogues!
This was my first time reading this author and i was not disappointed. This was a really cute story. I laughed and cried. Sis had those steamy loved scenes just right🙌🙌🙌☺!! I look forward to reading more by Ashantay👏👏👌👌🙌🙌😘
Dojah and Emir love story was so cute.. I really enjoyed this standalone, it was straight to the point.. Attraction isn’t all About the physical appearance but what’s in the heart..
First of all, Jordan rubbed my nerves raw! I’d literally roll my eyes when his name came up. I was thinking, what in the heck did Dojah see in him? But when Mr. Wrench came on the scene, she had to drop that zero and get with a hero! Aye! Nice job Ashantay. I’m glad to see you expand into the romance genre. Keep up the good work.
Such a sweet love story! I wish I could read more about Emir and Dojah. While reading I keep smiling and laughing. Those two just melted my heart the way they loved on each other! Good read!
I enjoyed this cute love story. Dojah was dealing with the wrong kind of men especially Jordan who irked my nerves. I understand Dojah was using him for her sexual needs but he just took it too far by asking for more financially. But when a real man steps in the picture, Dojah can't help but be drawn to Emir. He was definitely the type of man she needed in her life and boy did he prove her right. But he also proved her wrong about his minor imperfection being a flaw in him not being a good man. The sexual attraction and chemistry was off the charts for these two. And Dojah quickly realized that whats on the outside doesn't always matter but whats in the heart does. Beautiful ending and I wouldn't mind reading more about Alumni and Koran.
Omg, Queen Ashantay came through with this cute insta love story.
From go Emir was stuck on Dojah and was determined to have her for himself. Dojah want thinking about him because she felt although he was fine his chip tooth and dirty nails were a deal breaker.
Emir was the man and still looked out for her even after knowing how she felt about him. God has a way of humbling us, them f'boys especially that Jordan weren't enough anymore so she finally gave Emir a chance.
I loved the dynamic of his work crew, they were his friends, family and co-workers and they really looked out for each other.
His grandparents we're amazing and I was sad when they got the news. I'm glad they both took a chance on each other and found loved in return. And the sex😜💦🔥
Dojah had specific type of man that she wanted in her life and after two failed situationships, she decided to take a chance who someone that didn't fit her type. Emir saw Dojah and all he wanted was to take her out, but she wasn't interested. Emir tried once again with Dojah and this time she said yes and it was the best decision she every made. Emir showed Dojah how she should be treated, how she should be loved and what family means. This was my first book by this author and I couldn't put it down. I love when I read a book with the women thinking she knows what she want, but gets more than she expected. I cant wait to see what other books this author wrote, but I'm going to find out!!
This was the sweetest steamy read! Dojah definitely had Emir wide open. Their love progressed with actions. But when the words got formulated from their mouths, it was priceless! I wished Koran well in his healing journey. Grief is real! Everybody reacts differently! Nevertheless, the pain is there! Absolutely loved this !
I enjoy this story so much. I love how Emir and Dojah met. I love the beginning of their love story it just flows so seamlessly one phase of their relationship into the next just perfect.
This was a cute ass storyyyy, omg 🥰 I had to put the book down and walk away when her phone was still connected to the speaker and he heard her 💀 omg I felt so bad lmaoooo. This was a good read.
This is a great book and I loved it from beginning to end. I wish there was a part two coming, that's how much I enjoyed the book. Great work, keep it up!!
I like this book I r was short and cute not to much drama but definitely full of romance and I love how it showed raw love it was purely sweet great job!
