This gives details and pictures about different Christmas practices around the world. We see how different Christmas is in Mexico, Australia, Lebanon, China and Russia, Ethiopia as well.
It is informative and would be good for kids to learn with at Christmas time.
This book is about how Christians around the world celebrate Christmas. I think this is a great, interesting and informational book. The United States of America is a very diverse country and I think that students would be interested in knowing how Christmas is celebrated in other countries such as Mexico, Iran, Spain, Norway etc. I'd have this book as a read aloud with the class when Christmas time is approaching. It is only fair to have the students write and illustrate how they celebrate Christmas at home. Because not every culture celebrates Christmas, I would ask those students to write about a tradition or celebration they have around Christmas time. If appropriate, I would put all the illustrations and stories in a book. I think it would be a great idea if each year I have a book of how my students celebrate Christmas.
An approachable nonfiction book about Christmas customs in seven countries around the world, Mexico, Iran, China, Sweden, Iraq, Spain, and Norway. The illustrations add to the understanding and the text is detailed enough to be interesting but simple enough to be suitable for 2nd grade and up.
This is a great primer for children on how Christmas traditions and customs vary greatly from country to country. It's detailed yet not overly complex and easily understood by younger kiddos and older alike. Good visuals as well. 4.5 stars
I enjoyed this look into different Christmas traditions around the world. I found them all fascinating, but my two favourites were Ethiopia, where they play a game like hockey for Christmas (and apparently the whole family gets involved!), and Sweden, where they celebrate St. Lucia Day on 13 December to remember the girl who brought food and drink to early Christians hiding from persecution in Sweden. My own ancestry is part Swedish, and I grew up learning about St. Lucia Day, so that was cool to see that tradition featured. All in all, a short, but informative, children's book!
