Lisa Silverthorne is an extraordinary writer who excels in every genre she decides to gift us a story. Landfall is an amazing book. I absolutely believed that Kadence, the hero, her friends, and her love interest Nate, were in the middle of the rescue operation after Hurricane Katrina. All those terrible images came back but even stronger because the author made you feel the horrors experienced by the rescuers and victims alike, from desperate, unthinking heroism to complete exhaustion. And, like any meaningful story, this shows us the growth of individuals. While some of the secondary characters are a touch heavy-handed, the main characters and their closest friends are all well fleshed. Landfall may be technically a romance novel--and its romance truly satisfies--but it is much more than that. It demonstrates how human beings can grow through the worst of tragedies to lead better, truer, and more fulfilled lives through every kind of love. Read it.
