This book is insta love at its best with a little bit of temper thrown in for spice. The characters were easy to connect with and so fun to watch as they overcame expectations and connected with each other. I love how the author threw in a surprise twist and the story went from disappointed neighbor to so much more. This book is a quick read perfect for the beach and made me hungry for more by the author.
I love RH books, I like the multiple interactions between the characters in the pretty much required steamy scenes and I liked this one in particular. I have read other books by this writer and I enjoyed reading them and I enjoyed reading this book as well. If you like RH I do not think that you will be disappointed with this book. Oh yeah there is a nice HEA at the end of the book.
I truly enjoyed reading this book and did it all in one sitting 😃. I just couldn't put it down 😉. Fantastic characters, great storyline and enough sexy scenes to keep your interest 😋. Thanks Chloe, I'm Really looking forward to reading more written by you 🤓.
A steamy quick read, with a few good twists, and some hot alpha males to boot. The heroine didn't resonate with me. She was wishy-washy, and the final scene was over the top and physically undoable, especially for an inexperienced woman. A story is just a story though, right? "Adam chuckled as he tenderly lifted a lock of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear, his touch tantalizing her." "She couldn't understand the flood of need wracking her body right down to her soul." "His gaze seared her soul." The writing seemed rushed after the 50% mark in the book. This is not my first read by Choe Kent and I will read more of her shorter stories in the future.
I absolutely love this book. Ryan, Cooper, Adam, and McKenzie are fantastic. From page one to the end had me smiling, laughing, and ohh the hotness. I will definitely read this again. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I absolutely recommend this book.
I loved that McKenzie was attracted to Cooper, Ryan, and, Adam. Even though she was mad at them for buying the house out from under her. Thank you Ms. Kent for a great story.
I’ve read a handful of Chloe Kent’s books at this point. They are all nice quick reads that draw you in easily and provide a lot of fun sexy times, but the one thing they all have in common is that they are woefully underdeveloped. I love a great short story, but when they succeed, it’s because they focus in on a specific point in time, a moment and really get into the emotions and characters of that moment. What we have here is similar to every other Kent book I’ve read – a plot made significantly longer piece of writing, and because it’s so short, the plot feels unfinished, the characters make choices I don’t fully understand, transitions feel broken, and as a reader, I can’t fully immerse myself in the story.
It really is unfortunate because I like the premise of pretty much every story I’ve read of hers, but this suffers from trying to stuff way too much into too short of a book.
As for the specific story at hand, I am not a huge mafia fan, but this was okay. I found this was a little unbelievable at points, but again, I think with more time and development, this could have been fixed. Quite a few of her books I’ve read thus far star a virgin MC, and I don’t mind that aspect. The sex scenes are steamy, as are pretty much all of them I’ve read in her previous books. I didn’t relate much to any of the characters, to be honest, but again, with development, maybe I would have?
So, I don't usually write bad reviews, but i felt this one needed it. I also feel like I should have liked it, since it - apparently- has all the ingredients to a good smutty shortish book, just the kind I love reading. Well, no matter if the ingredients are top notch - which in this case they weren't, if you fail to properly cook them you'll have a hot mess in your hands. And that's what this book felt like to me. The heroine felt insipid - which, I mean, even if it's a smut book other authors manage to create entertaining heroines - and her "defiant behaviour" forced, with a drama-filled backstory to compliment the male leads' one. The plot felt too whatever - and again, I understand that plot is not the focus here, but there's some books that do the instalove so much more fluid and engaging -, the heroes were meh when they're supposed to be these sexy Russian mobsters and the sex scenes could have been better written, instead they fell short, like the author tried too hard to make them sexy. All in all I had to force myself to finish it, this book just did not work for me.
Her Pleasure-Filled Adventure - McKenzie was really upset to find out three gorgeous hunks had purchased the house she had been coveting, but what made it worse was her intense attraction towards them and the way they teased her. Even though McKenzie was profoundly crushing on Ryan, Cooper, and Adam, the last thing she expected to discover, was the convoluted reason for their appearance in her life. Unfortunately, McKenzie didn’t take the revelation seriously, that is until she the reality was right in front of her.
McKenzie was happy when Ryan, Cooper, and Adam were able to help her, as she had finally acknowledged her feelings for them and was happy when they reciprocated. This was a fantastic story, filled with angst, steamy encounters and suspense, that drew me in from the beginning and had me on the edge of my seat for most of the story. This is the first book that I have read from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.
I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Too much wrong with this short story to give anything other than 1 star. Mckenzie Harris wants to buy a house she's been eyeing for ages, and almost has it in her grasp. Then along comes Ryan, Cooper and Adam who pre-empt her and buy the house. She then goes around to see them (!) to complain, and here we go... Insta-lust with no reason; a non-con/dub-con spanking scene where Mckenzie doesn't complain enough (or even at all) - and even gets to like it although she's never been spanked before. Then the obvious fucking begins with all the guys taking turns; and then the anal (even though -again - Mckenzie has never done this before) with And to cap it all, the guys are Russian mafia come to "protect" her and take her into safety - why we are not told. Stupid, but if you like rough, unbelievable sex scenes, then I guess you'd like it. (NB: I only have a copy because it was a promotional freebie)
"The Very Bad Boys Next Door" by Chloe Kent is an engaging and steamy romance novel that dives into the tantalizing world of bad boys and their irresistible charm. Kent's writing style is alluring, and the chemistry between the characters is palpable, creating a story filled with desire and passion. The book manages to maintain a good balance between romance and tension, keeping readers eager to see how the relationships develop. While it offers a tantalizing escape into the world of irresistible neighbors, a bit more character depth and complexity in the plot could have elevated it to a 5-star read. Nonetheless, it's a compelling choice for those who enjoy a touch of edginess in their romance novels.
This was a bit over the top. Who in there right mind spanks a complete stranger and that stranger takes it? And let's them do other sexual things to her when she doesn't even know them and doesn't call the police after the attack (because that was really what it was)??? Not very believable. Don't get me started on the over the top penetration scene. Not even going to go there. There was a lot of hot sex scenes and domination. I would had prefer the main female character be stronger. She pretended to be this strong woman and wasn't. She submitted to everything they wanted. Maybe i will give this author's other books a try.
My rating: 3/5 Heroes: 3/5 Heroine: 3/5 POV: in third person Angst level: 3/5 Steam level: 2/5 Genre: maffia Trigger/Taboo: RH, virgin h, assplay
Thing I liked: -the storyline was fine, although a little OTT. -the H’s were real alphamales
Things I didn’t like: -the in third person storyline. God I hate this.. 😫 -the heroine being a 24 y/o virgin.
My opinion: So it finally happened. MY FIRST RH. conclusion: not my cup of tea. I found this book a little over the top really. But maybe this is because I’m not really a maffia romance reader. I found it really weird these 3 guys were together 24/7 wherever, whenever. I didn’t like the h much.
This was a bit of a disappointment. I almost DNF it several times, but then finally pushed through. There were so many things that just didn't seem to add up for me. When it first started with the three men finding her in the hot tub bare, I thought it really had promise. I had no idea it had to do with mafia going in - and I usually love a good mafia romance - but this missed the mark. There was plenty of spice, but the first interaction between the 4 of them seemed off - like non-con but not in a good way. New author so I thought I'd give it a try. Just not for me.
This is a quick read, and a good one. Adam, Ryan and Cooper buy a house out from under McKenzie, and she is livid. These men aren't to be messed with, and McKenzie quickly learns that. Things are not as they seem, and her world is about to be upended. This story is hot. Chloe Kent has crafted a story of instant love complete with an HEA. Definitely worth the one click!
I received a free copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.
2.5 stars. This is an over the top sexy if somewhat unrealistic reverse harem. 3 mob Bratva men fall for woman who has price on her head. They fall instantly for her but have to convince her of that. It's unrealistic in the sex scenes and the quick punishment spanks that happen right when they meet. I did enjoy the quick read but could use a little more development and maybe a conversation before they jump right into some aggressive spanking action.
I love this book and I can’t wait to read what’s next. Everything was about protection and love for their lives. I couldn’t find a better relationship with each character and I felt every emotion. I loved it
So worth your time to read. This is the right amount of steam and story to sastify all the requirements when looking for that Alpha Hunk Sexcation from real life
I was disappointed in this book as I typically love this author's writing. This one was way too far fetched, was very short and felt like there was no connection to the characters.
