Shifter Town #5

Ever Unbroken

Rate this book
They call her the masterpiece.

Sabine Rembrandt is used to being an object of desire. As a former supermodel and a purebred Arabian Gray shifter, she's had the world's most powerful men at her feet. But none of them ever saw the real woman. The one behind the stunning face and exquisite form. They only ever saw a wild thing they wanted to break. She refused to be dominated by anyone and left that false, glittering world behind. Even though it cost her everything.

Renkin Jones is a black-haired, green-eyed Siberian tiger from backwater Louisiana who speaks Cajun French like it's the mother tongue. He is also a man who can see below the surface. Intrigued by the mystery of Sabine, a woman with shields he wants to penetrate and walls he wants to tear down, he's determined to unravel her.

Sabine is equally determined to ignore the tiger prowling around, even if she is tempted by all that raw power and quiet strength, and the words he whispers in the night. But when a predator emerges intent on claiming Sabine, it unleashes the tiger's fury. That's when she learns sometimes shields fail and walls crumble, that the one man intent on protecting her is the one man who might break her, and that when a tiger has you in his sights... all you can do is surrender.

Ever Unbroken is the fifth book in Novalee Swan's Shifter Town series. It features her trademark heat and emotional intensity and is perfect for readers who love sexy shifter romance and small-town charm.

I'm just a girl from down under who writes paranormal and contemporary romance. I love travel, my dog Emma, and creating sexy alpha heroes who know how to scorch the sheets — with the right woman.

I got the majority of the books in this series on sale last year because they looked interesting and looking back at it, it was a very good decision ;) for the last few months I’ve been determined to make a solid dent in my Kindle tbr so when I found this series there I figured out I would give it a try, cause it would be a win either way :) either I will love it and can read it with pleasure or I won’t like it and it still will take off four books of my tbr :) and I ended up absolutely loving them :) since I read them one after another, including getting the fifth, and currently last one available, so I can binge all of them, I will write one review with a few words about each book, because I would have to repeat a lot of the things about the series in general so why not make it easier for me ;)

this is an urban fantasy / paranormal series set in an alternate version of our world where paranormal creatures are living out in the open and people know about them :) it takes place in this small-ish town where a lot of them live, hence the name of the series Shifter Town (it’s a nickname of the town) each story technically can be read as a standalone, but I would very highly recommend you to read them in order, cause the main characters are always a strong presence in other books and it will be definitely easier to follow all the connections if you read them that way :) the first three are novellas and the other two full length novels :) I absolutely adore the writing style of Novalee Swan :) she creates great characters and then gives them amazing romances :) there is always a ton of chemistry and banter, phenomenal friendships and all around great fun :) I adore that she doesn’t take these stories too seriously so even though some of them might feel a bit rushed they are always an awesome source of entertainment :)

book #1 Bear temptation 4 stars
first novella that surprised me in the best possible way :) and even though there is a bit of weird pacing (as in a time jump that fits a bit awkwardly in the story) the romance between Kelly and Reid was good enough for me to fall in love with this series :)

book #2 Caging Ash 4 stars
usually I am not a fan of those stories where a couple dances around each other for a long time without doing anything about it, but somehow this one worked… maybe cause it focused on the actual action part ;) I liked it a bit less than the first one, but it was still a good entertainment

book #3 Wolf down 3,5 stars
the last novella and my least favourite in the series, mainly because it really should have been longer, especially if you take into account the issues Lucas has… he struggles with some serious shit and we don’t really have the time in this story to really deal with it… nonetheless, it was a solid addition to the series

book #4 Bear essentials 5 stars
my favourite so far :) what the previous stories lacked (mostly because they were too short) this one delivers plenty :) we have a slower build of the relationship, with all that delicious tension and great chemistry :) there are friendships forming, with a lot of appearances from all the previous couples as well as introducing some new characters, most of which will for sure get stories in the future (or so I hope) also, it includes some of my favourite tropes in books :) we have a big, mostly silent guy who looks terrifying, but is just the sweetest teddy bear in the world :) and we have Lily, who has a hard past behind her and now she’s working to rebuild her life… add to it a slow building romance and it was a done deal for me :) also, the writing style gets even better when you have a full length novel to build the story

book #5 Ever unbroken 5 stars
this one surprised me :) I’m not gonna lie, I was more curious about other characters getting their own story first, but I was hopeful I would still love this one and damn… it was soooo good :) I loved Renkin Jones and his twin brother before but Sabine was a bit of a mystery for me… mainly because she kept her distance from everyone… but the more I read and learned about her, the more I understood her attitude… because once we learn more about her past and why she acts this way… once we get under that attitude and shell she puts up before the world… *sighs* watching these two fall for each other was wonderful… we also get a few more potential couples for future books and I need them all in my hands ASAP

honestly, I can’t believe more people haven’t heard about this series :) I highly recommend you to check it out :) it’s fun and super entertaining, perfect if you want to escape reality for a while :)

XOXO

Definitely THE BEST book of this series so far!

What can I say? But the only problem is that you need to read the entire series to truly enjoy this book. Many homages and references to characters in the previous books as well as important connections must be there for the reader to establish knowledge that grabs him first. There’s a ton of angst but in a good way. There is quite a lot of action and adventure, more so that what I have seen in books 1-4. Yes, most of the action involves Ren (hero) and Remy (heroine), but you won’t be disappointed. I just don’t want to wait so long for the next on one line, and I certainly do not want to hear that this is the last novel in this series, you hear me????

The characters are well-created and they are beautiful. We don’t have women to dumb to live (same for the previous characters), nor do we have guys too testosterone-poisoned to breathe. My only problem is that I wished our villain was a little more developed, mind and body.

I was intrigued by how the fashion world is created, from fashion students, models, and Fashion Week. And the shifter creatures were well-picked. Makes me wonder how many shifters are involved in the fashion world now.

But the most important thing about this book were two parts. One of them is what I call a moment of superb empowerment that you couldn't help but to cheer for. Even in a crowded movie house. The other was an impressive three-sentence part of superior intimacy, the hardest thing for an author to write. Because not even sex or romance can top intimacy. I've read it already three times (the empowerment seven times), and I will still continue to come to do so when I need a jolt.

This was a solid 3.5 for me, but I rounded up for the side characters. If you read books 1-3, this story is much longer.

This addition to the Shifter Town series features 2 shifters as the MCs: Sabine (Arabian Grey) and Ren (tiger - who are great together. Ren is somehow super patient and still dominant. Sabine is clearly working some things in her past that made her leave modeling & start a new life in Rosewood (aka shifter town). The best of Ren moving into the house next door to Sabine is he can talk to her while they both sit on their back patios. It's fantastic.

Of course there's another tiger shifter causing problems for Sabine, but she stands up for herself (with a little support from her new favorite tiger) which is really important. I was worried the longer this book went on that she would just get over her past because there wasn't much work put in until the ending. Luckily, Sabine did overcome her fears and rocked the runway again.

Some of the best parts of this book were getting to learn more about the other people around Shifter Town. Seren, Jones, Jasper, and Jackson (just realizing that's a lot of j's) are such complex characters, I can't wait to see what their stories look like!

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this slow-burn shifter romance was written. It is somewhat different to the other shapeshifter stories & I found the storyline flowed quite smoothly throughout a well-written, interesting plot that has good scene descriptions. At first impressions, it seems as if the two main characters (an equine Arabian shifter, Sabine) & (a Siberian tiger shifter, Renkin) have absolutely nothing in common but they do develop good chemistry & actually complemented each other very well, naturally just to make life a little more interesting Sabine has a bit of a stalker problem. There is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: various kinds of shifters, intrigue, suspense, drama, twists & turns, adventure, action, harassment, threats, danger, injuries, vengeful feelings, conflict, violence, confrontations, disagreements, strange attractions, memories, friendship, comradery, curiosity, distrust, manipulations, determination, some steamy scenes, love, mates, bonding, contentment & a beautiful, happy conclusion. I really enjoyed reading this shifter romance & would recommend it.

7. Ever Unbroken— Supermodel shifter Sabine wasn’t ready to retire when her contract was us with the designer who was stalking her, but she didn’t have the claws to fight a tiger. Good thing the tiger next door loans his out for personal security! Ren knows the pretty Arabian next door is hiding from someone, but the local college fashion show brings all sorts of wars to a head. Best book yet!! I need more please! Happy Reading!

Scaling walls

The 'worlds most beautiful' woman is down to earth and sweet but highly guarded. One of 'the Rens' wholly embodies masculine beauty yet represents everything she is literally terrified of.
Shifter Town is a unique and intriguing world of intermingled shifters. The character are witty and loveable. I really enjoy everything thus far by Ms. Swan

Delayed Gratification

I couldn't w wait to read this book and, then, I couldn't stop. There is a slow burn to this book. But, delayed gratification can be extremely fulfilling (as Ren and Sabine discover). The build up to the climax is a as slow as molasses in winter but just as sweet. You will find yourself panting before the end.

Ever Unbroken

This was a powerful story about love conquering all. Being able to trust is hard to regain once it has been broken, and Sabine builds walls around her to protect herself.

Wonderful series!

Every book contains a solid story with fabulous characters that overcome a dark history to shine, through love and acceptance. I would move to Shifter Town if I could.

Wow. What a series.

This new for me author, has definitely got my attention. This book is more intense than the other four. But just as good, and believe me, they are all good. BTW, there is a box set out also.
I purchased this book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

My favorite

So far. As much as I enjoyed the first four books in this series, Ren and Remy's story tops them all. I still do recommend the entire series, and I look forward to the next book out in December.

A good

Read. A bit more serious then the rest of the series so far. But I enjoyed it. Had a different type of bad guy this time. Always good to have a difference in a series.

I really liked the “slow burn” pace of this book. Ren was an alpha male but still very much respectful of Sabine and her boundaries. A great addition to the series
