USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
It serves me right after patting myself on the back for seeing so many plot points coming. The events of this book were a bit more surprising for me.
I also can't help but note that I usually don't like stories with characters who are overly victimized by circumstance. Mallorie still hasn't really progressed in the ways I expected for a positive character arc as more and more punishment is heaped upon her by an unsympathetic universe. I guess it still works for me because logically I think that many of her decisions are obviously foolish, but emotionally I understand where they come from. It sounds a bit melodramatic to say, but Mallorie is really a tragic figure in a lot of ways.
I still expect a happy ending, but the clock is ticking and it might seem a bit rushed to have everything wrap up as nicely as I expected earlier on in the series.
I’m usually a big fan of Stephanie Bond but I find this series is more frustrating than fun to read. I understand the predicaments the lead Mallory is in, but she’s hardly had any fun at all to break the tension. I’ll read the last one to see what happens - but it’s not been my favourite series.
These daily serial sets are always enjoyable. In this one, Mallory Green is working three jobs to take care of the bills she has amassed with her husband. She thinks she finally has caught a break. But things don’t quite go as she thought they would.
This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book five of six
She is getting too know her father and sister. Someone is taking money 💰 from an bank account. Then her sister is missing and she gets a note asking for money.
I would recommend this series and author to 👍readers of romantic family and friends relationships mystery novels 👍🔰. 2024 👒😤😮🌙
This is part 5 of 6 part daily serial, part five is November.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, in LOTTERY GIRL, a young woman (Mallory) who's unlucky in life, in love, and in fortune hits the jackpot! But can money truly buy happiness?
I'm very much enjoying Lottery Girl so far, there’s plenty of drama and entertaining moments. Never a dull moment for sure, although there are some bits that are OTT and not believable, but as long as you don’t take the story too seriously and just enjoy it for what it is.
I do love that they are short, quick reads, heading straight into part 6 which is the month of December and is the last part to this daily serial.
Lottery Girl is a daily serial that runs from July through December so Part 5 is November. It is a fun way to read a book. Mallory won the Lottery and is learning how to deal with it. She has personal problems, family problems, work problems and was working 3 jobs. So winning the lottery should solve some of her problems but it also adds others. Mallory is an interesting character and the daily serial is fun and enjoyable.
Stephanie is a tremendous writer and author but this book isn’t one of my favorites in her serials. It’s book 5 of 6 and everything happening is nothing but bad news at every turn. I know it’s all characters in a story but it’s just sad. :(. I’m vested now and hoping Mallory gets her “win” in the end.
So disappointed with this serial. All her others have been top notch. Why is she making Mallory so, so....I don't even know. You can be naive some but good lord! The whole book?? If Stephanie Bond as trying to annoy us beyond belief then she succeeded! With me anyway.
We find out her father who ended up in prison and got released iis now living with her. There's loads of people who want her money, there's a third trial again related to her money, there's a DNA test and a scam.
Looks like all the money she'll end up with might buy her groceries for a week.
Suspenseful, if any thing bad could happen, it will happen to Mallory it seems, she can't catch a break. In this 5th month of the serial, Mallory's life continues to spiral downward. I'm hoping something good happens in December, sigh.
Only one more excerpt to go and I can’t wait. So many people are trying to suck the money out of “Lottery Girl”. Looking forward to reading the conclusion!
Part 5 is fine, but I’ve given up on Mallory. After her husband treated her so terribly, how can she be so blind to the way others are treating her? I’m sure the series will end sweetly, through no fault of Mallory’s. Josh will probably save the day.
