The Blood of the Bigfoot

Rate this book
After fifty years of hibernation it has awakened. Oak Grave Forest was a place of beauty. A paradise full of gorgeous wildlife. An outdoorsman’s dream. Until now. A string of disappearances puts the police on high alert. Animals are found mangled and stripped of flesh. People enter the woods and never return. Blood covers the autumn leaves. And the forest is unusually quiet. With dusk casting its gloomy shade over Oak Grave, Shane Alter leads a band of police officers into the forest in search of the missing persons. What they find, instead, is a carnivorous humanoid. Its eyes are full of hatred, its body full of hunger, and its blood full of murder.

In the backwoods of Maine, a bigfoot awakens from hibernation and starts to kill and eat people. Fortunately for the monster, all of the people nearby make incredibly bad decisions.

Very gory.

Bigfoot is angry!

A different twist on Bigfoot with lots of gory action. Of course I love all Bigfoot horror books but this one was a never ending murder spree of just one very angry Bigfoot. The characters drew me into the storyline and I loved the small town setting. Some of the scenes were very disturbing to me but not in an over the top way. What can you expect from a very diseased, very angry Bigfoot? I have read some of the author's prior books so I knew this was going to be great...and, it was!

I've read several Michael R Cole novels. He basically is one of those writers who found out a formula and stick with it.
You've got this one with Big Foot, Scar with a mix of Megalodon & White Shark, Thresher shark stuff, Serpent (well it's a sea serpent eel) , Arachnoid is self explanatory, well almost all are. Etc Etc.

It's a safe bet for me and I enjoy this one, so much that I rated 77 out 100. Is it the best book I've read this year? no, not even this month, but is entertaining and one of those monsters movies you will watch on sy-fy channel on a sunday afternoon and by morning is gone from your mind.

This novel we follow a couple of characters as they trekking through the woods and finding some dead animals and people. Police comes to the rescue and all hell break loose. The monsters, starts killing one by one. It's a interesting , fast paced, thriller but that's the end of it.

Glad I've heard it, and I am going to hear more from him.

Wow, Michael we do have a dark side don't we. This is a Bigfoot that I hope my worst enemy does not meet, well I can maybe think of one or two that might benefit from the experience. Damn this creature is unholy and sadistic. Bigfoot comes out of a 50 year hibernation and goes on a blood soaked rampage in the forest of Oak Grave. This creature is unstoppable. Michael must have written down his worst nightmares to get this one right. It has all the elements of a thriller. Police officers trying to figure out what is going one while they are being systematically hunted down and exterminated. This book is not for the squeamish so I warned you.

The beast awakens after a 50 year hibernation, awakens hungry, awakens angry and ready to kill anything in his path. A small town Chief of Police and his deputies end up in its path. Lots of gore in this one. But a pretty good Bigfoot story.

Beware of the Bigfoot

The Blood of the Bigfoot by Michael Cole is a fantastic creature feature. I really liked how unlike a lot of other of Cole’s books that take place over several days. This one takes place during one night reminding me of most horror movies. The plot is very well written with the police go to investigate something and get stalked and hunted by a creature aspect. There was never a dull moment. I enjoyed all of the characters in this story. As for the creature of this story Bigfoot he was terrifying. He showed not just intelligence and strength but pure malice at times. The narrator Adrian M Lopez did a great job telling the story overall. All in all I would recommend The Blood of the Bigfoot to anyone who likes horror or a good creature feature book.

I read a couple Bigfoot books recently and was very surprised how much I enjoyed them. I've always thought Bigfoot hunters were rather ridiculous, but to each his own. What was shockingly different in this book and the others I read is that Bigfoot hunters weren't looking for them.

The Bigfoots were going after innocent, unaware people. The victims had no idea what was coming. I don't know why I'm surprised. Michael Cole has not let me down yet. This book was so exciting and entertaining. Tension formed. Edge of your seat fear. What was going to happen next?!

Unfortunately for victims what happened was more than anticipated! If you enjoy violent Bigfoot Creature Feature books - read this one! I will be reading it again.

Terrifying Tale

This story kept me up most of the night wanting to keep reading. I finally finished it several hours later as I fell asleep around 4 am. The story is definitely scary and the descriptions of the creatures killing and later eating the victims was gory and I’m sure I will have nightmares in the future.

This book does exactly what it says on the tin — it gives you Bigfoot, blood, and a whole lot of mayhem. I’ve read plenty of creature-feature novels over the years, but this was my first real plunge into the world of Sasquatch horror. And you know what? It was original enough to keep me hooked.

The gore? Plentiful. Michael R. Cole doesn’t shy away from getting his hands dirty, and if you’ve got a strong stomach, it actually adds to the fun. Don’t expect philosophical monologues or Pulitzer-worthy prose — this is about survival, chaos, and big hairy things tearing people apart.

That said, for all the blood and splatter, it never felt cheap. The pacing worked, the stakes felt real, and there was enough tension to make it worth the read. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t ask much of you except that you strap in, suspend disbelief, and enjoy the ride. And that’s exactly what I did.

A solid afternoon read. Probably not one to bring to your next wilderness hike — unless you enjoy looking nervously over your shoulder the whole time.

Very few authors are as reliably good at what they do than Michael Cole. His characters are not layered. His plots are fairly straightforward, though he can through in some unexpected but well-earned twists when you least suspect it. His books are not going to win any major literary prizes. BUT, what Michael Cole does so well is that he takes one sub-genre of horror, creature features, and writes the kind of book that his audience is looking for, without fail. He does not drag his books out. He knows how to maintain a quick pace. He knows how to deliver some gruesome kills, and he knows how to make you care about his characters just enough so that, if something bad happens to them, you can't help but feel a little bummed for them. There was one kill scene in this book that had me shuddering at the thought of it. That's effective horror! If you are looking for an author who writes books that play out like fast-paced and gruesome horror films, Michael Cole is your man.

Author Michael Cole has probably given us the best "killer sasquatch" novel written so far. When a Bigfoot with a serious bad attitude comes out of hibernation and goes on a killing spree, the local Police Chief and his fellow cops have to find a way to stop it. Mr. Cole creates a likable cast of characters that are easy to cheer for and does a good job of crafting a believable country setting for all the mayhem to happen in. The eponymous monster is a loathsome, completely unsympathetic troll with an undying bloodlust and a superhuman capacity for destruction. The author pushes the plot forward with moments of white-knuckle suspense, little spots of drama, and a lot of artfully written carnage. The result is one of the most enjoyable creature features you're likely to read. Highly recommended for all monster fans!

I enjoyed this story and the main characters. As always, some of the characters I liked met their demise - boo. Story is well written with an interesting "Bigfoot". Maybe a little more explanation of the "blood" of the bigfoot would have been nice as well.

The Bigfoot comes out every 30 odd years to feed but not sure why it does that or what triggers that exact time for him to awaken.

Liked the ending. :-)

Pretty good

I could have chosen five stars of it was for action which there was plenty. But the story could have been more developed as far as lengthening it. Otherwise a new twist on Bigfoot. And a good read.

This is an original take on Bigfoot. Its pretty gory but I bet you haven't read one like this before! The characters are good too, as always, with Michael Cole's stories.

Коул цепи мрака в тази книга. Толкова брутално нещо от него не помня да съм чел, на един дъх привърших книгата. Никога не съм си представял, че Битфут може да е толкова страшен. Подробно мое ревю прочетете в Цитаделата:

As people and livestock starts disappearing in Oak Grave, the local police investigate and enter into the forest. What they find is that a legend and myth is actually real, and they are in big big trouble.

A decent, gory horror story that has a good amount of entertaining moments and a solid ending. It’s not quite as good as “Thresher” and some of the author’s other novels, but this book is certainly worth reading if you enjoy the genre.

This wasn't the best book in the world but it was still thoroughly entertaining! The plot was somewhat similar to most bigfoot books but was still fun. It has plenty of gore and violence! 3/5 ✨️
