I am the author of this new book that I wrote to help those in career search land faster their next job.
George's first book, Hired: Cut Your Career Search Time in Half, is based on his own experience--when he found himself facing two job transitions in less than three years. From both his military training and operations background, he learned that career transition also has a process. He became a student, listening, taking copious notes, and asking vital questions to many people that he met.
George started his career in the US Army serving in 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, additionally in Wurzburg, Germany, and Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq in Support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He credits this experience with his leadership training, positive attitude through adversity, and his ability to overcome major obstacles. In addition, George has 25 years in Global Operations managing working in four industries: Automotive, Contract Electronic Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, and Capital Equipment Manufacturing. He is passionate about helping individuals and businesses become better.
George has had three international assignments in Germany, Thailand and China, and these have increased his knowledge of global and diversified cultures.
He credits his strong belief in God and the support of his family for his success. His wife of 26 years, Kerry, is very loving and supportive, as are their three beautiful and successful children: Mason, Devin, and Aislynn. He loves spending his free time with his family boating, traveling, and golfing, plus he's an avid runner.
George also does individual coaching, consults with businesses and business leaders, as well as speaks on topics such as developing next generational leaders in organization, strong teams, driving improvements within companies.

Insightful, first hand, great tools. George offers personal perspective on strategies for networking to find a great next job. He offers keys to networking, using social media and interviewing. He also offers numerous suggestions for self-care during the journey.
"Hired" is practical, useful, compassionate, and motivating. Any one who finds themselves in a job loss and transition, or has a loved one in these straits, get a copy of this book. "Hired" will pop you out of the malaise. The reader will be inspired by George's revelations and his own personal and professional evolution, all of which he so generously shares in this book. And it's a quick read!
I saw a presentation by the author at a networking meeting. Personally, I've given up on the whole idea of submitting online job applications because the success rate is ridiculously low. When George suggested using snail mail for contacting potential employers, I thought, "Wow, this guy is on to something. That's something that's not online and may actually work!" After this meeting, I bought the book. I liked this book because it provides good advice and matches my own experience. George suggests getting out and finding temp jobs to reduce the cash burn while you search for a job in your profession. I've done that and it's good advice. He's also a fan of cold calling and snail mail. Both of these approaches are more fruitful than online job applications (IMHO). He's resisted the temptation to pad the book with drivel to make it seem more impressive. So it's a short, content-rich read.
Buy this book. If not for yourself, buy it for someone you care about struggling in their search or simply looking for a new opportunity.
