My mental health seems to get worse as I read stuff like this, that one cure is simply to see them bitches suffer. Hopefully we'll have that in this story soon!
Oh well, where to start?
Once again, a new manhwa of this genre combines the plots and characters of the most famous manhwas out here. As for proof;
2. Characters are so similiary drawn to other manhwas you go ''wait, didnt I see that guy in this manhwa?'' ✔️
3. The father-daughter relationship or should we say the lack of it reminds me a million other ones ✔️
4. The imposter feigns innoncence to a ridiculous level, while everyone else's IQ are somehows degrades greatly. ✔️
5. The imposter reveals the truth to the FL at her execution and after that FL goes back in time before the imposter showed up. ✔️
6. Besides FL I fucking hate EVERYONE in the first timeline. ✔️
7. The art is cute af ✔️
8. I'm gonna read it because I love this genre. Also the art is awesome.
Worth a shot?
DEFINITELY. It's feels both cliche and a bit refreshing at the same time and I like the story so far even though it's progressing a bit slow.
So why 4 stars?
1. This isnt a revenge story but I wish it was one. I felt like I was choked in tears when FL was ignored by her father after doing so much efforts. Like girl, let's just live for yourself!!!
What I hate the most about these stories is that later the Duke will realize his feelings and start to care about her AFTER he fucking kills her and the FL will just forgive him and then live HAPPILY ever after. I really hate when series try to do a redemption arc for characters that absolutely 100% dont deserve them. Her father is a bastard who went along with imposter cosette because it was the easiest option. Wish one of these stories will have the balls to have the FL just abandon the shitty ass the Duke or the Prince. ugh. Honestly I wish we could have seen the aftermath and regret for allowing themselves to be fooled. A kingdom turned to ruin all because of the way that man treated his daughter. How fun it would have been to see it.
My girl is slowly starting to fire shots to her father and I LOVE IT but I need more rebelling!!
2. A gently reminder for you guy who is here for shipping:
3. Her naivety It makes her both cute and dumb at the same time. I mean you have a death flag coming in two months and I get you want to live your life but how about doing some actual preparation to avoid whatever the hell is gonna happen with the imposter? ugh, hope she fixes he naivety in the up coming chapters!
Verdict; I'm looking forward to reading more!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
The first couple of chapters were so serious and sad but then the whole dating stuff started happening lmaoooo I been giggling like crazy. It seems like she doesn't really care about her death lol
CW: Rape. Sexual assault. Physical and emotional abuse. General disregard for human lives. Also, did I mention the rape because boy was there so much of that.
1. Abused servant girl discovers she's the daughter of the local count. The count decides to marry her to a Duke for his own nefarious purposes.
2. I like a good despicable villain. Despicable villains are fun for a variety of reasons. But this story just had so many of them, and all of them go from 0 to rape/murder/abuse in 2 seconds flat. Watching bad things happen to the powerless people around them again and again just gets irritating after a while. I get it. They are not nice people. It has been very thoroughly established at the outset. Move on.
3. I feel like this is one of those stories which try really hard to be grimdark, but goes so far into splitting all shades of grey into black and white that it just becomes borderline comical instead. The nobles all are evil. The lower classes are basically good but also helpless in the face of evil nobles. The Duke is the only noble who cares for his people. The heroine is half-noble and also a good person and all the lower classes are so charmed by how she treats them as human beings. In other words, there really isn't an ounce of originality in here.
4. What even was it with that random noble lady in love with the duke who tries to kill the heroine and/or seduce the duke? Why was she even here? To give rise to a gay misunderstanding subplot? Why was there a gay misunderstanding subplot. Even setting aside how crass that is, it just isn't the type of misunderstanding that fits a story like this. If you're more visibly upset about the first person to show you kindness possibly being gay than fending off blackmail from your asshole Dad while he threatens your mom's life and is expecting you to honor kill yourself if you screw up... no. Absolutely not. The cognitive dissonance is too fucking much. I do not like it.
5. The only person with something even mildly approaching complex characterization is the evil stepmother. Because while she's evil she's also abused and mistreated and loves her children. Again, this is a cookie-cutter stereotypical character, and she's the one who's the most complex person here. Another even more mildly interesting character is the heroine's rape victim mother- her love/hate relationship with her child is less complex than I wanted it to be, but it was also the most genuinely heartwarming part of the whole story.
6. I stopped because I ran out of chapters (manhwa is generally very easy to read) but honestly, I really shouldn't be picking this up again. There's way too much dog blood (metaphorically speaking) here.
While their experiences aren't the same, they've both been through trauma and I think that definitely helps them build a connection to each other and that's such a beautiful thing. But I'm a little disappointed in how flat this story felt. I almost don't feel like that's the right way to explain it, but in lack of other words, in the beginning, the story progressed wonderfully and it reeled me in with every chapter, but when Nullitas meets Duke Morciani, it just starts to feel eh with every chapter. Maybe I went into reading this story with too high of expectations and an overactive imagination that wanted things to happen differently, but for now, I'm not overly excited about continuing into the next volume.
I was going to change my 2 stars to 3 because it's not my cup of tea but someone else may really love this story, but then I thought, I need to keep my review honest to my opinion so I wanted to explain my decision a little more here.
I'm glad I pushed through her terrible relationship with that no-name asshole; her naïveté made sense, considering how sheltered she was from society, but it's so painful to read. But I did it and was rewarded by seeing her punch him in the face, dance with her cute vice-captain knight and start learning how to interact with her peers.
