Into the Blue, the third book in Kay Bratt's By the Sea series takes you on an emotional journey filled with hope for a happily ever after.

Jules Monroe is a woman whose hard work and dedication has built a rewarding life for herself and her family. Now in her late fifties, she gives selflessly to her husband, kids, community, and their charter business. But everything comes to an abrupt halt when her body says enough, and her mind yearns for respite and a place to hide from past hurts.

Oldest son, Jonah Monroe, is a veteran haunted by a childhood tragedy. His past includes things he isn't proud of and can't quite shake. When his chance to be a hero finally arrives, it comes with strings attached. Will he accept the kindness of strangers to help bring his family back together, or will his demons continue to be his downfall?

Maui isn't always the safe paradise it's made out to be and when ancient island superstitions threaten to rob the Monroe family yet again, they must all find a way to deter the impending disaster.

A perfect ending to a wonderful trilogy. I must say that I loved the first two in the By the Sea series, but this one is my favorite. I loved the story of Jules and Jonah. They both carried heavy burdens of guilt for the loss of Nama, their daughter and sister. Even though she has been reunited with them, they still carry that guilt. This book centers on them and their journey towards peace. On another note, this book also tells the story of Helen, the matriarch. We get to learn a bit more about her and her motivations. Her journey is also very satisfying. Her dog, Cinder, is part of her healing! Kay Bratt is a master storyteller who weaves a tale that is hard to put down. I couldn’t stop reading to find out what would happen to the Monroe family. The ending is totally satisfying!

INTO THE BLUE is an amazing story of hope, strong family ties and love, lots of love. I absolutely enjoyed every minute that I spent reading the tale of Jules, Kira, Jonah, Noah, Kim, Helen and the other members of the family. I was mesmerized by the recovery of Jules and her determination, against all odds. I was struck by how steadfast Jonah was in finding Kira, with an unwavering belief in her abilities. The entire story struck so many chords for me that it became a story that I placed myself into. Filled with lessons to learn from life and beautifully crafted word pictures of Hawaii and the life there, this book is one not to be missed. The book had almost a musical quality about it as the action moved seamlessly from one chapter and from one family member to another. By the end of the book, I felt like I really did know the family well and was celebrating life with them. The characterization is some of the best that I have ever read and the plot was well-developed, fast-paced and totally captivating. I would give this heart song of a book more stars if possible! It is the third book in the series, and I highly recommend that you read them in order, but all can be read as a standalone.

Satisfying (Seeming?) Conclusion. After Bratt rushed things a bit with Book 2 of this series (No Place Too Far), combining elements that I felt - and mentioned both to the author and in the review - could better be done in multiple books, here she takes the same approach. Yet here, the story is more condensed generally, taking place over just a week or so and having two concurrent storylines that work quite a bit better as a pairing. In one, Jules, the true matriarch of this series, has a medical issue that sidelines her yet gives her a compelling storyline. In the other, and happening concurrently, her youngest daughter has gone missing - and Jonah, the PTSD-suffering Iraq veteran who decades earlier already lost one sister (see Book 1 - True To Me) has to find her.

As with much of this series, it is loosely based on Bratt's own daughter's adventures living in Hawaii - the author's note at the end actually notes a much more perilous event that made the news there in the last few years as the inspiration for the missing daughter piece.

And as with Bratt's immediately prior book to this series, Dancing With The Sun, this book is essentially a love song to one of her own daughters, and another cry of just how strong her love for that daughter is.

Bratt's writing, at least in the time I've known it, has always been about putting her real world heart on her sleeve and then pouring it into "paper", while creating worlds that allows her to explore and convey the emotions she is feeling at any moment. It makes her personally vulnerable - but also makes for some of the most compelling reading of the last few years. This story is ultimately no different here. Read it because it is truly an excellent book, one where she took the (light) criticism from its predecessor and largely corrected. Knowing a bit of the backstory - and I haven't noted anything here beyond that which she has said (IIRC, in much more detail) publicly - only makes it that much richer.

Very much recommended.

I loved the previous two books in this wonderful series. Kay Bratt raised the bar with book 3, Into the Blue. This book was amazing!

Once again, the story was focused on different characters so I felt like I got to know my friends even better than before. There's a lot going on this time on the beautiful island of Maui, and not all of it good. As Julie's body betrays her, Jonah works hard to redeem himself when the family needs him the most.

As they all race to beat time, my heart was also racing, hoping everything would work out for everyone. So intense... and maybe just a little bit magical. Family connections can be so strong, if we just pay attention to the messages.

I absolutely loved Into the Blue, as well as the previous two books in the series. Full of beauty, compassion, excitement, love, and family bonds this book, and the whole series, will make you fall in love with the characters, and the alluring setting. Take a trip to Maui, courtesy of Kay Bratt. You will not be disappointed.

Hats off to you, Kay!
Another heartwrenching story centring around a family based in Maui.
I have truly enjoyed all the stories in this trilogy, and this final episode was the icing on the cake, tying many little threads together to create the perfect finish.
This time we concentrate on Jules, a mother who has already suffered her own losses in her life.
And Jonah, her son. Always allowing himself to think he was to blame for his little sister, Nama, disappearing in the sea, as a child, then experiencing the horror that was active service in the army.
Finally, Helen, the matriarch of a fractured family, fractured, but still reset, and working well.
When Jules youngest daughter, Kira disappears, the family pulls together in a way you'd hope all families, did, but the shock of Jules suffering a stroke at the same time puts untold pressure on them all.
This story speaks of culture, tradition, faith, and most of all, family.
A beautiful read. Seriously. Go get it! As soon as it is out!

This was such a good book! I read it in one day, it was that good! I think it might be my favorite of the three.
In this book we once again return to Maui and Jules & Noah’s family. We follow both Jules and Kira, each one facing what could be a life changing event.
This book is about family and all that involves. It reminds us to forgive and move on because no one really knows what’s around the corner. Things in life are too precious to be mired down in old hurts.
I really enjoyed this book! Thanks to the author for the early copy

Into the Blue takes us back to Hawaii to spend time with Jules and Noah and their children Quinn, Lani, Jonah and Kira. Jules has dedicated her life to her husband and children and now grandchildren. She takes care of them and tends to ignore herself and her health. After having severe headaches, she has a stroke and no one is sure if she'll recover. On the same day, her youngest daughter Kira disappears at a walking trail in the jungle. The rest of the children are consumed with finding Kira and worried sick about their mother. The family has had enough tragedy in their past and have just gotten to the point that life is better for all of them when they are struck with this dual tragedy. Will ancient island superstitions rob the family yet again or will they be able to work together for happy life for their family?

This is a beautifully written novel about a family who is facing two potential tragedies. I've loved the family since book one and was rooting for a safe and happy outcome for all of them. As always, this author has written believable characters in a beautiful setting in Hawaii. This is the third book in the trilogy but I sure would like to go back and visit this family again in the future with another book.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the By the Sea trilogy by Kay Bratt. It's also the best one. All are great in there own right but still this one is just the best one.

The Monroe family have had their share of heartaches and losses. When things take a turn for the worse for Jules and Kira this family bans together to do all they can to set things right again. Through many ups and downs this story will keep you holding your breath. Keep you on the edge until the end. There is so much happening to this family and yet they never once waver. They never give up. Together they can do almost anything. Jules and Noah have a love that is endless and will see them through even the worse of times. Their children are fighters who are there for each other in times of need. Calling on the people for help and on a mother who is not in this families good graces. Can things be forgiven? Can they find the one they love in time?

There are lessons to be learned in this book also. Never ever give up on the ones you love. Always talk to them even when you think maybe they can not hear you. Blow that horn. Play that music loud. Keep on looking no matter what. Keep on holding that hand. Ask for that movement. Squeeze. Just take a deep breath and never give up.

This book is so good. It has all the feels. From laughter to gut wrenching sobs. From family being together to forgiveness to questioning. Did someone hurt Kira? What happened to Jules? Can they communicate and find their way back to each other? It will all be answered in this wonderful story os a family who has already endured so much and came out stronger than ever.

In the STORY BEHIND THE STORY Kay tells you where this story came from. I remember feeling the same way when I saw that this young woman went missing. Praying that she would be found alive and ok. Only Kay can spin a story that will have your heart racing this fast and furious. All the way to the very last word. It was a fast read for me. I couldn't put it down. I even read into the wee hours of the morning.

Thank you Kay Bratt for this ARC. This is my own true feelings about this book.
5/5 huge stars. I highly recommend this book!!

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This is the third book in Kay Bratt’s “By The Sea” series. I absolutely loved the first and second book and the third was a wonderful conclusion to this remarkable series. I have grown to love so many of these characters. Quinn, Liam, Noah and Jules are probably my favorites. This book focused more on Jules, Kira and Helen. The author did a wonderful job reviewing some of the key points from the first two books. My favorite parts of this series are all the references to the Hawaiian culture. I have been to Maui four times and it is my favorite place in the world. Kay does a wonderful job making the reader feel like they are right there on the island. If I could make just one suggestion, it would be for a 4th book!! I enjoyed getting to read deeper into Jules and Helen’s stories but I would love to read more about Quinn and Liam. Also a continuation of what happens in Jonah and Kim’s future would be fun to read. I feel like I’m not ready to see the end of these characters that I have loved to read about in this series. I highly suggest Into The Blue but only after reading books 1 and 2 first. Thank you to the publisher and Kay Bratt for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Kay Bratt’s book, INTO THE BLUE is the third book in the BY THE SEA trilogy.

Wow! I had a hard time putting this book down when I started it. As all of Kay’s books are, it is beautifully written. You could read this book alone, but Kay does a beautiful job of pulling all the characters from first two books together and ending the series with this book.

This book has me reaching deep into myself and pondering past tragedies in my own life and also thinking of the great miracles that have occurred, many of which I know would not have occurred without the tragedies that came before. As Jules explained to her mother, she has come to realize that instead of seeing the tragedies of life perhaps we should see the miracles that are right there along side the tragedies. How refreshing and freeing if we can realize that we really can lay our burdens down that we carry from these tragedies. So hard for me but as Jules says, “it’s okay to release ourselves from the sadness and burdens we can’t handle.”

Well, not where I thought my review was going to go, but this book really touched me personally. Thank you, Kay Bratt!

Thank you for my advanced review copy. I highly recommend this book! All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I really, really loved this book, "Into the Blue", what a story this third opus of By the Sea series was!
Having read the two earlier books in the series "True to Me" and "No Place Too Far", this last book in the series is a perfect story to continue with the life in Maui and also get to know more about Jules and how her life is in her late 50's.

In this beautifully written story at it's best! The author takes us back to Maui in Hawaii and to the people I had already come to know through the two other books in the series. They are nice characters that you can't help to love and admire.
The sea is a one of the main elements in this book and reflects, history, thoughts, values and the love of it!

How tragic happenings pull together a family that has had their difficulties for several decades and where it almost feels as if the family is under some kind of curse!
In times of need family and friends do all they can to support the Monroes in their trying times.
Again it shows how important family values are and also going back in history. The spirits may show you the path. How being a true believer you can connect with someone very close to you and eventually save that person.

This story has quite a bit of mystery and suspense, and it has you going, wanting to continue reading the book non stop. As the story unravels it takes you to places you have not imagined and situations that look hopeless. It also shows that one should never give up hope and that deconnecting and reconnecting will eventually show you the way. In no way was the story predictable, that also kept me wanting to find out the rest of the story. It was difficult to put it down and I finished reading it in 2 sittings! The only regret is that the book came to an end too soon, leaving the characters in the book right there in Maui with their happy faces in the sun. How life works out in the way the spirits guided the family. This story came full circle with the whales in the beginning of the story and the whales in the end of the story...

I am so happy to have been able to read this beautiful story of Jules and her family. I am grateful to the author and the publisher for giving me this chance! I can definitely recommend this book it is a fantastic read, thanks!

Wow oh wow, what an emotional journey and beautiful conclusion to this beloved series 🥺 I loved the themes of releasing the past to heal the future, finding forgiveness within and without, and celebrating life and family for the beautiful and imperfect miracle that it is. This book was completely different than I expected the storyline to be for the final book. But the writing was lyrical and enthralling as ever.

This story moves fast and is hard to put down. It can make you laugh a little and cry a little. Her dialogue between siblings is right on and very easy to imagine it as it is written. The relationships all have been fractured for various reasons but you see them come together as a family when they need to be there for each other. While it is a third book in this series I believe it could be read as a stand alone as she gives most important parts of the backstory along the way. The characters are quite believable and scene descriptions will have you right there on Maui. A lovely book on family and the power of forgiveness.
I was provided an advanced reader copy and was under no obligation to provide a review. The opinions expressed are my own. Many thanks to the author and her publishing team for allowing me to read this book.

Wonderful characters filled with so much strength and determination to overcome their challenges. I loved the way Kay weaved the two situations occurring simultaneously with Jules and Kira. It was filled with tension and emotion. The families persistence to overcome the challenges was beautifully written. I loved how the town came together to help heal old wounds . Don’t miss this one!

WOW! What an emotional and heart wrenching story.
I was brought to tears several times as I read. This was a book that putting down late at night was so difficult. I didn’t want to leave Maui and Jules and her family.
A beautiful story of a loving, strong family, that has endured so much tragedy in their lives.
Forgiveness, never giving up hope, loss and redemption.
Highly recommend this book!

Kira goes for a hike and ends up missing. Lot of people think the worse that the husband did it. Jonah can’t loose another sister he is at the reserve day and night looking for her. When the mom Jules hears about Kira she has a stroke. While she’s in coma she sees where Kira is. When she comes out of it she tells them where she is.
A lot of unnecessary story of the rescue, over done. Needed more time on the end with how all the relationships came together.

Into the Blue is the 3rd book in author Kay Bratt’s By the Sea series. These books center around the Monroe family and some of their friends and takes place on the beautiful island of Maui. From reading them you learn the importance of family and how learning and accepting forgiveness is very important. It shows us that sometimes you just need to put your guilt to rest, accept what has happened and continue to live your best life. Not everything is your fault, sometimes things just happen for no reason and you can’t control it. This particular book centered around Jules, the mother of the Monroe family and her son Jonah and daughter Kira. There is something that happens to Jules in the story that really hit home for me and brought back so many memories as my family had experienced the same thing only with my father. Reading this part about Jules actually was very informative and educated me more about that subject. I also liked how the author used so many Hawaiian terms and explained exactly what they meant. It gives you a glimpse into their culture. I really enjoyed reading this series and am sure that others will too. I liked how the author wrapped it up by bringing Jules and her mother Helen back together again when the story ended. Because of this, I think this was my favorite out of the 3 books. I’m giving this a 5 star rating and would recommend it to all readers who enjoy women’s fiction.

I love buying and reading these types of books.
Boats, yachts, historical events and books about the sea are generally excellent. If there are sequels in your series, I would love to read them.

The beauties of owning the books of important authors cannot be discussed. I'm looking forward to your new books.

For friends who want to read this book, I leave the importance of reading a book here. I wish good luck to the sellers and customers...
