My best friend wants to teach me a lesson... Three years ago, my ex-boyfriend dumped me when he realised that I couldn’t quite ‘get there’ in the bedroom--no matter how hard he tried.
Ever since then, I’ve been too ashamed to date again. I feel broken. Defective.
Now I’m at university, and my best friend Rachel, lesbian hockey star and self-described lady’s woman, has decided to help build my confidence by giving me some ‘private tutoring’. In bed.
She’s convinced that with a bit of hands-on demonstration, she’ll be able to teach me just how much I can enjoy myself between the sheets.
It sounds like the perfect solution. The only problem is, I’ve been desperately in love with Rachel from the moment I set eyes on her.
They were just meant to be lessons. Neither of us expected it to turn into something much more…
Equal parts sizzling-hot and heart-warming, Tutor is a 23,000-word lesbian romance novella about intimacy, bravery, and finding the confidence to fall in love.
4.5* – From the blurb, I expected steamy hot, and Tutor delivered on that front. What I didn’t expect was so many feelings.
When she finds out her best friend Isabel – whom everyone except her calls Izzy, where she prefers to call her Bella or Bells – has never ever had an orgasm, not even on her own, Rachel offers to help her. Hands-on. Isabel’s inability to come is making her feel broken and unloveable (she can thank her ex-boyfriend for that) and she’s determined to get over it. If Rachel, with whom she has been in unrequited love since she first met her three years ago, thinks she can help, she’s willing to try. Rachel is all for casual sex so what could go wrong?
Tutor works really well as a novella and at the same time, I liked it so much that I wish it were longer.
The characters are complex and endearing. Despite being rather young (in their early twenties), both women struggle with past experiences that left them feeling humiliated and not enough. And because of these, they are not sure they’re worthy of the other, leading them to accept – to some extent – a casual relationship neither really wants. Better communication would definitely help but their reluctance to state their feelings to each other makes sense with who they are and what they have already been through. And I liked the obvious love and respect between the two.
4.25 stars. An excellent read! This was a pretty straightforward story, but very well executed.
Isabel has never had an orgasm and was dumped because of this by her boyfriend. She has been ashamed ever since, which led to her avoiding relationships. During a drunken episode she confesses this to her best friend Rachel who offers to help her with some “hands-on” tutoring. What they don’t know is that they have been secretly in love with the other for a very long time.
Written in the first person with POV’s from Isabel and Rachel. I loved the characters and the descriptions of their feelings in this debut novella, and of course there are some very sexy scenes. Recommend!
With just 96 pages, I wasn’t expecting a groundbreaking sapphic romance, but I was at least hoping for some steamy friends-to-lovers fun. Unfortunately, it didn’t deliver.
The characters felt like over-the-top caricatures—so exaggerated it was hard not to roll my eyes. The erotic scenes didn’t help either, with dialogue so cringey it completely killed the mood. For something billed as erotica, that’s a big miss.
Finally, the author tried to cram an entire love story into such a short space, leaving the plot rushed and underdeveloped to the point where it read more like a parody than a romance.
That said, I did appreciate the nods to sex positivity throughout the story—they were a nice touch. It’s a quick read, so if you’re looking for something light and don’t mind a lot of exaggerated drama, it could still work for you.
Wow, I've read this novella after my friend Jude's recommendation and I've absolutely loved it, even more considering this is a debut author.
As you can guess by the cover and blurb, this book is hot and steamy but it balances well with romance and it even gives a bit of food for though on sex and relationships in general. There are also a few good puns thrown for good measure which makes this story even more enjoyable.
If you are looking for a sexy, romantic and fun read, I highly recommend it. It's a fast read but available on Kindle unlimited and very cheap anyway. 4.5 stars.
I'm just going to jump right in and start. I'm wondering if the author hates men. The men, or boys, were depicted as chauvinistic, sexist pigs. One boy spiked the main characters drink without telling her, causing her to fall flat on her bee-hind, completely incapacitated, and another boy, the MC's boyfriend, dumped her because she couldn't "get off". Then turned around and expected a thanks from her for his "chivalry" for dumping her instead of cheating on her. *scrunches eyes, pinches bridge of nose and exhales* The best friend, the other MC, was painted as a saint with a vocabulary of nothing but "baby, babe, honey, fuck". She was the hero in the story for constantly coddling her bestie, whom she was in love with, and for f*cking her to within an inch of her life. After my tenth eye roll, I knew this story was not salvageable. The dialogue was corny, and I couldn't take that every single person called each other babe. I also couldn't stomach all the unnecessary, miscommunicated drama. Holy man, how hard is it to talk to one another instead of reacting on assumptions? There was a few continuity problems throughout that threw me off and made me drop my phone and ask myself if I should continue reading.
I wanted to like this because I'm a fan of erotica, but I just couldn't. 2 stars.
Fun tale read while cooking the turkey - enjoyed it, and had the kernel of being a really good fully grown up novel will certainly be looking up Lyra Hart. Thank you and Happy Christmas!
Novella I guess or a short book but was far better than I had hoped and ticked all the boxes. Impressive for her first book and I understand a new one coming. 4+ stars
Omg this book is so hot!! The storyline caught my attention from the first chapter. The sex scenes are incredible! They are slow and sensual. It's about coming out and falling in love. It's about learning about yourself. It's about communication being so important in any relationship. I have not read any of this author's work before but I certainly will seek out more!
I don’t know how realistic the premise is exactly, but I really liked what the author did with it. This was only a short story, yet I was completely swept off my feet by its main characters, Isabel and Rachel. There were also several interesting secondary characters, if not all of them equally wonderful. Isabel and Rachel both carry around issues because of hurtful experiences in their past, and I loved how they gradually helped each other move forward. They are both well-rounded, lovable characters and have great chemistry together. I especially loved that they had such a strong friendship, and also enjoyed the little bit of angst and the obligatory “misunderstanding”. Those helped make the story that tiny bit more emotionally intense.
hi' i'd like to say how engrossed i became with this short story, izzy and rachel, i like meany other posters fell in love with the m/c but always with the self doubt they.ve loved each other for ever but this bull sh't self doubt has kept them apart, izzy's x boyfriend is a prick (there iv said it) and the cu't that spiked izzy's drink deserves to spend time in a very dark and dank cel for a very long time, but lets be honest there realy are men and youths who find that funny or hope that you may drop your knickers after one of those, but on a brighter note after being put to bed by rachel izzy spills her guts to rachel about her sexual hang ups, i think i fell in love with both izzy and rachel at that point ect. ect
4 stars. This was surprisingly good! I went in for the smut and it delivered on that but this also had some really good depth to it. Izzy turns to her best friend Rachel to teach her how to have an orgasm. Rachel has a reputation of being a bit of a player on campus as she doesn’t do love or relationships. Izzy’s boyfriend dumped once he finds out that he’s never made her orgasm. Izzy and Rachel’s chemistry was so good. The sex scenes were well written and had some emotion to them. The romance is sweet even though I just wanted to shake them and make them communicate but they got it together in the end and it was great. I was pleasantly surprised by this. It was a very entertaining read.
I was intrigued by the blurb and was into the story right away. Both characters had lots of depth and my heart especially went out to Rachel. Some experiences from the past definitely take a toll on you and it’s difficult to let go. Besides all those feelings the story was sexy, sensual and totally hot. It left me back wanting more and wishing that it would go on. I will definitely look out for more stories by this author. Well done.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
I received an ARC copy for free in return for an honest review.
This story has a wonderful way of bringing the main characters together and allowing their feelings to grow and build. The tension also builds throughout to see if they will be able to open up to each other. There are many times where you would like to bang their heads together, luckily there are some well placed secondary characters to do just that.
All in all, an enjoyable and light hearted romance with a tasty sprinkling of hot lesbian sex scenes.
I always love the chance to read an author suggested to me and to never be disappointed. A beautiful story of second chance everything and for a girl to realise that it takes the touch of another to give her what you has been deprived of, demanded and seeks with the promise of love and respect. Tutoring never got any better!
Best friend Rachel helps Isabel after learning she has never had an orgasm before. Lessons start with hands-on experience until having a misunderstanding. Both of them, specially Rachel, have to face the marks past experiences/relationships left on their lives before moving forward with each other lives.
Quick and easy reading, not a lot of angst. Great book.
Interesting idea. Sex at 16 was never satisfying for Izzy. Is it for anyone? She lets a stupid boyfriend convince her that there is something wrong with her. Enter, 4 years later, a Butch with her own hang ups. What could go wrong when Rachel offers sex lessons? Everything. HEA.
I thought this was just normal smutty novella but the author managed to pack quite the feelings with characters the actual feel like people not just av actresses. Both leads start with issues of their own and found the solution in each other.
Omg this book is steamy. I couldn't put it down, I devoured it in 2 days. The storyline and characters were engaging. I really enjoyed reading this book.
