Length: Full Length
POV: Single (Hero)
Series: Beautiful Series #3
Ending: Cliffhanger
Re-read? Yes!!!

"Without her I’ll exist, like a zombie in a shell that once held a body of life, but with her I’ll get to live. She owns every fiber of my being and I’ll willingly let her keep every piece of it. I’m hers, always."

Read 2: Still a 5 star read for me but I was somehow more stressed out reading it this time than last time and I knew everything that happens. I’m still hella annoyed about his whoring around after meeting Luci, even if he was using them as very obvious substitutes for her. He does say all through the book he’s an asshole. I have to get through all that crap but his internal thoughts about Luci and how he feels about her are well worth it.

As I've stated before I am in love with this series! This is my second read through of it and again, I love it even more on the second read through. I read this book, book three, second this time around. It's the first book just told from Josh's POV. I wanted to read them one right after the other. After this, I went back and read the actual book 2.

I had 80 highlights on this book. Yes, 80! It was just so good. You know I love it so I'll talk really quickly about the things I didn't remember that I didn't like. Ugh! Why did he go back to his wife for sex SO MANY TIMES? I mean, I can kind of understand once, maybe even twice but there were quite a few times. That plus the scene with the stripper and Josh grossed me out a bit more than I remembered. However, he did clean up his act the first time he kissed Luci but I think he should have gotten it together way before them.

BTW him being able to not control himself until he gets home and jerking off in his office during his free period every day thinking about Luci is HAWT. I am here for it.

Again, this book rips my heart out, puts it back together, this stomps it on the ground. Paige Laurens just really gets me with this series. If you like Student/Teacher romances the way I do, I can't recommend this series highly enough.

I read the first book or the same book but with the heroine point of view last year and I liked it very much and when I heard that the author will release the book again but this time with the hero's point of view, I was so excited, I really wanted to know the hero`s thoughts about certain events from the book.
This story is about a forbidden affair between a teacher and a student. Who doesn't know, basically, we have two books which contain the same story but with different points of view. Beautiful Torment is the story told by the heroine, Luci's point of view, and this one, Beautiful obsession, told by the hero, Josh's point of view.
This book was way longer than the one told by the heroine and to be honest it would have been better if would be shorter because the hero was not so likable and his inner monologues were too annoying.
I didn't like him when I read the story from Luci's point of view but I thought that once I got into his head, I will understand him better, well, I didn't.

Another thing that I couldn't ignore was the continuity errors. The events from Luci's books take place in 2002 but in this one in 2001, I don't really understand because basically is the same book just with a different point of view... I read the 2015 version of Beautiful torment so I don't know if the author did changes or not when it was released in 2020.
Anyway, I liked Luci's book better, and even if the hero redeemed himself in the second book he is still not my favorite and I still think that the heroine deserved better.

Age gap, taboo relationship for sure, but oh the spice was on 🔥 for sure!! Josh and Luci find love on a very unconventional place to say the least. While I didn’t start with the 1st book I still enjoyed reading this from Josh’s POV. If you can overlook certain things o say give this book a try for sure.

His story

It's true that love happens in the strangest way. I felt Josh's heart breaking constantly with the fact that his love was wrong yet right. I didn't see it like a student teacher romance like most books. I saw a heartfelt reminder that you can't always fall in love and be happy ever after.

I’ve never been so happy before to finish a series! I don’t even know why I continued with it but I did. Book 3, Beautiful Obsession (Beautiful #3) by Paige Laurens is the first book all over again but written in the POV of Josh. The high school teacher that falls for his student…

Let me tell you, if you didn’t already not like Josh after reading book 1 & 2, you will DESPISE him after this book. I am not sure if the author was trying to win him points by letting the reader see how much he loves Luci but it did the opposite. I could not stand the authors need to have every other page be about sex or some woman obnoxiously throwing herself at Josh. Like the man can’t leave the house without someone wanting him. Way over the top.

His use of sex to avoid feelings is just nuts and the man needs help. I found it disgusting he would let so many woman blow him or touch him because he couldn’t touch Luci… this was all new since we didn’t read of it in book 1. It just turned me off in so many ways.

The book had many spelling and grammar errors. I only finished it because I read the first two. Josh is an awful character. Glad I won’t ever have to read of him again.

I give Beautiful Obsession (Beautiful #3) by Paige Laurens 1.5 stars.

I liked this one way more, mainly because Josh finally proved Lucí wasn’t just a decorative houseplant quietly photosynthesizing in the background. No ma’am! Girl had a backbone. A spicy, emotionally traumatized, “I will throw hands if I have to” backbone and I loved every second of it.

Also, let’s be honest: nothing nourishes my soul quite like an MMC who’s one emotional breakdown away from tattooing the FMC’s name across his chest in Old English font. Obsessed? Absolutely. Mentally stable? Absolutely not. Five stars.

BUT.
What I didn't sign up for?
Josh out here doing the cha-cha with every woman who wasn’t Lucí like he was casting for Lucí: The Off-Brand Collection. Sir. Be serious. I know y’all couldn’t be together because forbidden love and tragic timing and blah blah the stars said no, but come on. Imagining Lucí while with other women? That’s not romance, that’s delusion with a playlist.

Still… whew. These books?
They’re emotional junk food. Messy, overdramatic, probably ruining my standards and I will happily binge every single one while crying in the club and texting my group chat, “I hate this man…”

There was no reason for this book to be this long.
