Highlands' Deceptive Lovers #5

Highlander’s Sweet Poison

Rate this book
Only a mad man would give in to a temptation like her. Or a very brave one…

For Jillian, the past couple of years have been a living hell. Since her husband's death, the whole MacSeaver clan has blamed her for it, and her only protection came from her father-in-law, Laird MacSeaver.

But now that he's gone, she knows she can not rely on the new laird, Graeme MacSeaver. Graeme is a man who has seen her at her lowest, and to make things worse, he awakens desires she thought were long past dormant. Having no other choice, she decides to get away from the clan that has been her home, and the only man she wants to be close to.

Graeme has too much on his mind as a new Laird to worry about his cousin's widow, especially since he believes, like everyone else, that she bewitched her husband into madness and death. Even so, he can not get her alluring nature off of his mind, just like a sweet-tasting poison that he wants to taste even if he knows it will destroy him.

When the clan demands the retribution for his cousin's death, something Graeme has long been avoiding, he has no choice but to order Jillian back. Unable to fulfill his people's wishes, he can only think of one way to protect her; marry the devilish woman.

However, nothing is what it seems, and as this Highlander slowly falls for the seductive beauty, the romance may be short-lived as treachery and dreadful secrets await in the shadows for the right moment to strike and destroy them.

Gripping and Suspenseful! I love when a book grips me and takes me on a heart stopping journey as in Highlander's Sweet Poison. Adamina Young weaves a story from beginning to end with threads of intrigue, murder, and betrayal with a twisted and dangerous villain who  weaves a web of deciet. It's an unforgettable Highland romance that brims with tension-building twists and turns, remarkable emotions, characters that are well thought out and you find yourself drawn into their story, great dialogue and one fantastic plot. With the appearances of characters from the previous novels, it is a enjoyable reunion to see how they are doing. With unrest throughout the clan believing Jillian is a witch and wanting to hang her Graeme, a brawny Highland Laird, sees no other way to save her but to marry her. With their passions building in this heart pounding story full of drama, sensual passion, secrets, agnst, trials and tribulations and while the suspense builds and tensions escalate with evil abounds that makes for one outstanding story!

A great read! Adamina Young is becoming a favourite!

This book did not disappoint... my favourite of the series.

Let's just cut to the chase - yes, the heroine (Jillian) is attacked and raped at the beginning of the book by some mercenaries, the rape itself occurs off-page and is referenced to on occasion by various characters. In my opinion, it was tastefully done.

My heart bled for her (not for the above mentioned scene, obviously yes, it's terrible that happened to her), Jillian had a traumatic past (even before the attack) and was just trying to push through everything with her head held high. Their unlikely union turned into something more, while learning to trust and accept their love for one another along the way. Graeme (H), in my eyes, redeemed himself as the story progressed and proved to Jillian why they should be together.

Graeme (H) and Jillian had a beautiful story, I really don't want to give much away because you really must read it!

One thing I'd absolutely love.... a sweet, saucy little novella featuring Tearloch and Alexina! PLEASE ADAMINA!?!

Adamina has written another great storyline as part of this series. Graeme and Jillian have both had difficult lives. Fate brought them together and they have to decide what their holds. This book has romance, adventure, betraya, etc. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in a good read. I received this ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I have freely written here

Highlander’s Sweet Poison book 5

Jillian not a witch and not a murderer that clan believed. All rumors of a jealous man. Graeme saved her by marriage. The clan was upset until she saved children with herbs.

Loved reading the story about Graeme and Jillian. The characters were both strong willed and believable. Jillian had been accused of murdering her husband and of also being a witch. Graeme is attracted to her, but holds back because of the past brutal attacks Jillian has suffered.
