Sweet and safe

I loved it! Despite the few grammatical errors, it was a sweet, easy read. The main characters were both quite likeable. The plot was interesting and drew me in from the start. No over abundance of angst that made it hard to enjoy the story. I wasn't bored at all. The H was strong and powerful, and despite his reputation for being basically, nefarious, he really wasn't. The h too, was sweet, yet not a pushover. I loved the chemistry between the two. It wasn't overdone. I love how they grew to love each other.
The only issue I had with this book, and the reason I didn't give it five stars, is because I don't feel authors should be baiting readers with a second epilogue just to get their email addresses. This story didn't have a first epilogue, unless I missed it. So why push a second epilogue? Authors should leave out the second epilogue altogether, or just include the extra bit of story in the first epilogue. That'll be more honest.

A wonderful plot, and interesting characters abound. Anna is a bargaining chip against her father’s debts. Silas, known as Lucifer because of his ruthless reputation, accepts her as his bride and settles her father’s debts and more. Silas needed a wife to introduce his young sister, Beatrice, into London society and guide her debut. Well, Silas never expected to fall in love with the beautiful and witty Anna; his past is too dark and doesn’t believe he deserves her, but their feelings are eventually mutually reciprocated. Along the way, you’ll be entertained with the twists and turns, from new-found sisterly love to intrigue, kidnapping, redemption and rescues. A very enjoyable book and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

I think my heart was at my throat through most of the story
This had such a darkness to it that I was pleasantly surprised to discover had a lot of depths. I liked the allusion to Hades and Persephone but the story is way different from the Greek mythology story. It’s an overwhelmingly painful story with heartbreaking pasta and quite heartbreaking present. I found myself gasping in shock and horror a lot throughout reading this story.

Lisa Campell has given readers a book that is beautifully written, characters that are well thought out and each one came to life and you find yourself drawn into their story, sizzling passion, heartfelt dialogue and with strong plot that bring this read together perfectly!

The story as itself was very promising but the writing style is lacking depths of character. Time frame and events do not justify the love story between the characters. Also the dialogues are in general shallow and superficial. A great love story needs to have complications, a deep stream of consciousness of both characters, tension, dialogues and some sizzling love scenes. It's all missing here - sadly.

Very good story which kept my interest and I liked the characters, and the ending is good, but the author really needs to find a good proofreader/editor- there are enough careless errors that they become intrusive and annoying. The story itself deserves a higher rating, but due to the quantity and type of errors, I do not think the book itself deserves more than 3 stars.

Lord Olsen Adley was in debt and asked Silas Kline to pay his debts and in return he can have his daughter Anna. Silas agreed and fell in love with her. He had to keep her safe because he had an enemy. Mr. Dugby traded in human flesh. He got ahold fo Anna and Silas, her father and others saved her with Mr. Dugby dead.

5 STARS, ROMANCE DRAMA FULL OF ACTION
A very active read that has great characters & is entirely entertaining. Silas & Anna are definitely two people who are not from the same neighborhood; however, the one thing they have in common is secrets, they both have secrets.

Nice read with a lot of intrigue and action. After all the mystery and complications are overcome we have a loving and happy ending romantic end. Nice job of detailing the characters and seeing Anna’s father redeem himself in the end

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great drama and romance with wonderful world building.

Great story with mystery,intrigue and a father who gives his daughter away because he squandered his inheritance,after his son died.This story was a bit hard in places to follow,but was still a great read.

Liked it!
This was a good romance with a sinister touch too. Liked the heroine, hero and his little sister. My complaint though, is it had way too much longing and angst, it took 90% of book before marriage consummated!

HUGE disappointment.
I still don't understand why they love each other. There's very little details in the steam. You only get a very surface level understanding of the characters.
The opening chapter was very promising. The H liked playing the role of the villain. They had good banter. But then we see nothing of it once in his home. The h doesn’t really earn her right to get to know this private side.
Lot’s of POV changes.
The H is very hot/cold. If the h was more fiery instead of stoic, I would buy it. But I can't help but think the relationship is very borderline abusive.
It just felt very shallow and I’m bitter that I was denied character development.
