Julia Clemens always dreamed of putting stories to paper and now she gets to live that dream with her two adorable boys and one handsome hubby. From the sandy shores of Maui to the Rocky Mountains and then back to another island in the Pacific, serene Japan, Julia has lived around the world and found that even though all of these places are majestic with their natural beauty, the thing that makes every place so special...are the people. So she writes about those people and loves every minute of it.

A few story arcs are completed in this installment, and a few others are begun. Some couples solidify their relationships (Bess and Dax, Olivia and Dean) and some (Alexis and Evan, Nora and Mack) begin new ones. Julia, the movie star introduced in Book 5, makes new friends on Whisling Island, but a call for help from her mother has her returning to her hometown in Iowa and confronting the family who seems to have no use for her, despite her success. Nora, having discovered in Book 5 what happened to the baby she gave up for adoption many years ago, has a chance to meet that child and the family who adopted her. Alexis is happy that her mother has found happiness with her friend Lou’s father, but Lou’s twin sister Marsha is not happy about it. It was curious that a set of twins would be so different in their attitudes and the way they treat people. As always, I was drawn in to each of the many plot lines, but was concerned to see more errors than I usually find in Clemens’ writing.
Promises and Sweet Memories: Whistling Island book 6 is by Julia Clemens. This series takes place on an island off the coast of Seattle. The only way to get there is by boat, helicopter, or ferry. This series involves a group of women who have had hard times before and are undergoing difficulties now. At the same time, they have made new friends and their lives have gone in unexpected directions. Nora is finally going to make contact with her daughter, Amber. She gave Amber up for adoption and now has a chance to meet her. When she gave Amber up for adoption, she had no idea what was going on. Will Amber want to meet her? What will Amber’s mother think? Alexis, Julia, Olivia, Dean and all the rest of the people on the island are going about their business trying to put down roots and create wonderful lives for themselves and their families. Will they be able to withstand all the things that are thrown at them?
Easy reading, quick read. This book is a conjugation of the others in the series. More characters introduced in previous books are developed here. I like the suitability the characters that couple up have to one another. My head is collecting so many names, I have to stop and question which the author is talking about now.
This book was as enjoyable as the first 5, all of Nora's drama with Amber and her adopted family. Dean losing his father. Julia starting her new life. All of Nora working with Mack through NA and meetings with the children at the hospital. Look forward to Julia's next book.
Julia Clemens is an awesome writer and has brought her characters to life experiencing crisis time and happy times. The way they all work together to help each other is encouraging and nice to read.
A wonderful story full of love and problems that kept everyone making promises to do better! The characters had great times and loved their individual lives! The adventures kept everyone on their toes!
Once again another five star review from me. This book is amazing and takes us deeper into these women’s lives. Also we have met some new individuals along the way and I am loving it.
