Miss Fix-It - that’s me. And when my sister and nephew are in danger, it’s my natural instinct to step in and get them out of Boston. The girl with the plan, always.

We land at the Rowan Inn - a charming bed-and-breakfast on the shores of the Chesapeake. A sweet little haven we’re hoping will bring us the peace we so desperately need.

˃˃˃ Instead, it brings us Jesse Rowan, the gruff and grumpy son of the original owners.

The same guy who is single-handedly sinking the Inn faster than an anchor in the bay. But we need a place to crash until I can figure out our next move, so I convince him to let us stay in exchange for help around the place.

˃˃˃ At first, he’s rude, sarcastic, and standoffish.

But after a few months of working around the Inn together, I realize he’s not as callous as he’d like us to think. And I realize that maybe the Inn isn’t the only project I want to take on. He needs some fixing, too.

˃˃˃ But the Inn has to be just a pitstop for us.

And as long as we’re on the run, Jesse Rowan can’t be my final destination.

Rowan Revived was technically my third book from Taylor Danae Colbert, and to be honest, I didn't enjoy the first book of hers, It Goes Without Saying, as much as I did the following two books, including Off the Record. Impressively, Taylor never fails to surprise me with her adventurous ways of telling the stories. I crave for the boldness in her writing style, and I feel a tremendous leap from It Goes Without Saying, to Off the Record, and now Rowan Revived, when she totally transforms a typical contemporary romance novel into one full of meaningful messages.

This book gives off a completely different vibe compared to Taylor's previous works and I find myself utterly engrossed in the story of Jesse and Lena. Both characters have their baggage in life yet they somehow manage to embrace it with open arms. What I appreciate most about this book is the fact that there's the depth in the genre of New Adult Contemporary I've never seen before.

Trigger warnings for abusive relationship and domestic violence here, and I actually love that Jesse and Lena's romance isn't just some sweet love story; they tackle serious issues by cleverly weaving the positive attitude we should have towards facing such problems through their growth as a couple. All in all, I'm really glad to see Taylor's stories develop from cute, light-hearted reads to something profound and inspiring. :)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND both Rowan Revived and Off the Record if you haven't read anything by Taylor yet! I initially thought I didn't know which of them would be my top favorite of hers, but now I'm 100% sure Jesse and Lena have won me over...just a little bit more than Dax and Shay.

***Huge thanks to the author for providing me with an e-copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.***

Once again, I fall in love with Taylor Danae Colbert and her beautiful writing. The female characters in this story are to be applauded, the author included, for the strength and determination and passion they possessed. Sure, the protagonist Lena may have been on the rescue, again, to her sister and nephew who badly needed her help. But her sister's situation against her abusive husband wasn't something to be frowned upon. With the help of Jesse, the brooding hero who at first reluctantly offered his B&B to the poor sisters, Lena had devised a plan that would solve their domestic problems. Or so she thought..

Rowan Revived is a masterfully written book that digs into your soul and tugs at your heartstrings. Colbert once again enamored me with her characters and their personalities, as well as the picturesque town where Rowan Inn nestled. Love the chemistry between Lena and Jesse and their storyline that had me sobbing and sniffling in the middle of the night, yet still made me hopeful for a brighter, sweeter, better tomorrow.

This is definitely another winner from TDC!

Taylor Danae Colbert has quickly become an author on the top of my favorite authors. Each time she writes a book she gives us something new and I honestly don't think there is anything she can't do. She's made us laugh out loud with her romances, swoon over a rock star, feel girl power and now we see how important family is and that starting over can be a big healing process.

Lena has always been the strong one growing up and later in life she's still her sister's protector. Including the moment she picked up her whole life in Boston and ran with her sister and nephew. She doesn't think of herself. As long as her loved ones are safe. She's so strong and no one can break through her walls. Seeing what love has done to the people close to her, she doesn't think it can get that bad if she doesn't let a man in her life.

Jesse had a great childhood with very loving parents. His parents' Inn was a success and he had every intention of taking it all when his parents wanted to retire. Until a car accident turned his world upside down. All he wants is to sell the Inn and get far away. Jesse has closed himself off of feeling anything and seems rude, sarcastic and not interested at all.

Both of these characters caught my attention from the start and I just wanted them all to be happy. Even Millie and Caleb (don't get me started about this little boy, I think he was my favorite, haha). Jesse's sister was an interesting one as well! All of these characters have been through a lot and just need a minute to breathe. Jesse made me irritated at first, haha. As I kept on reading, it was so clear why he acted the way he did.

Once these two start working together to get this Inn back to what it was, their true colors start coming through. I loved seeing them relax, have fun and maybe even start seeing a future where they could all be happy. I laughed, got frustrated, anxious and this book even had me in tears a couple of times. That's not a bad thing though, because a book that makes me feel is an amazing book in my eyes.

Rowan Revived is so much more than just a romance. It's about family, healing, second chances, love and hope. Things can turn around and you can be happy even when you don't expect it to happen. The way this author described the setting makes me want to move to that town now. I can imagine myself in a rocking chair looking out to the water. I really came to love these characters and was sad when the story was over.

Do yourself a favor and just one click this book!!!! This story sucked me in from the very beginning and I could not put it down! Taylor has grown so much in her writing and this one by far is my FAVORITE of hers! This book!!! The emotions, the pull on your heartstrings, the enemies to lovers aspect, the super grumpalump hero, the angst, the nephew, the sister. GAH, I absolutely LOVED this one.

Lena, Millie and Caleb are running and they need a safe place for now and they stumble upon Rowan Inn, its crumbling, its surviving but barely, and closed for business. Jesse is the current owner and is just drowning in his current state of mind. He doesn't know how to move on, he's miserable, angry, sad, and wants to sell his parents Inn and just leave town. He doesn't want people around, especially not a pushy, annoying person like Lena. These two cut a deal, a place to stay and to get the Inn back to its glory as best as they could so they could part ways. These two and their inner thoughts, I giggled so much because he is such a hard person to deal with. Sighhhh, but seriously, when they finally gave into their attraction, their confusion for each other, like WOAH!!! Jesse made me want to throw things at him but totally changed it all around and I fell completely in love with this guy! LOVED this book!

I loved this small town romance. But it's more than a romance. It's a story about fighting for your happiness, healing, and so much more. Lena is protecting her sister Millie by taking her and her son Cable on the run from Caleb's abusive dad. They come across Rowan Inn. Jesse has taken over Rowan Inn after his parents passed away. It's closed but Lena is desperate and arranges to help get it fixed up to sell in exchange for them staying there for a bit. Jesse and Lena do not get along at first. He is trying to hide his pain. Lena is a strong female that keeps herself guarded for her own protection. As they work together their annoyance with each other starts to fade and they understand each other. Pretty soon they can't deny their attraction. But Lena knows she has to leave soon for their safety. And Jesse doesn't want to stay in the town that holds memories of his family. When every one safety is in jeopardy what they both need and want comes clear but it might be too late. Man, this was a great story. And I want more. I want stories about everyone else. I can't wait to dive into more from this author. A must read romance.

This was my first read by Taylor Danae Colbert and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Lena leaves Boston with her older sister, Millie, and her nephew, Caleb. Lena may be the younger sister, but she has always been the stronger one—always taking care of/protecting Millie from an abusive situation.

On the run to nowhere in particular, they come upon the dilapidated, closed Rowan Inn and its grouchy owner, Jesse Rowan. I enjoyed getting the dual POV between Lena and Jesse. They both have their issues and baggage. While they are initially annoyed with each other, they are both what the other needs. Jesse has pretty much stopped living in the past year due to guilt and Lena hasn’t been doing much with her own life beyond being “protector.” It was sweet to see these two come together and how everyone else seemed to realize it, too.

Thank you to Taylor Danae Colbert for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is my first book by this author. It handled some tough topics, but I felt it was well done.

Jesse - not going to lie, didn't love him at first. But once you learn his story and see him develop, he really grows on you.

Lena - she's tough, she's a protector. But she needs someone to protect her as well.

All in all, liked this book and look forward to reading more by this author!

Small town greatness

This is my first read by this author and I loved it! I’m always in for a small town romance and a town where you can get anywhere in 6 minutes is for me.

Following a horrific event Lena takes her sister and nephew on the run and end up at the closed down Rowan Inn. What used to be the highlight of the town is now falling apart and Jesse Rowan becomes their savior, unbeknownst to him, and let’s them stay.

What flows from there is natural and the slow burn romance between Jesse and Lena will make your heart so happy!

Rowan Revived
is the newest romance by Taylor Danae Colbert. It tells the love story of Jesse Rowan and Lena Winter. She is on the run with her sister and nephew and would do anything to keep them safe. They find themselves at the Rowan Inn in Chesapeake Bay but unfortunately it isn't open for guest. Jesse is biding his trying to sell his families Inn, so he can move away from the small town to find out who he is since his parents have passed. The Inn needs a lot of work and Lena needs a place to stay. Since she more than handy when it comes to fixing things she makes a deal with him to help with the Inn repairs for room and bored. Neither of them have plans to stay in Chesapeake Bay but sometimes plans change unexpectedly.

"I know our time here is limited, but it doesn't make me want her any less. In fact, I think it makes me want her more. It feels urgent, like I need her or I might suffocate."

I just adored all the characters in Rowan Revived. Jesse was grumpy, shy and hard at expressing himself, but he was such a sweetheart who needed someone to remember how happy life can be. That someone was Lena, and she was the perfect match for him. She was a fireball, having had a rough up bringing she is strong and resilient. The have the longest slow burn romance filled with delicious sexual tension that is totally worth the wait. Besides our two main character, Jesse's sister and Lena sister are both strong characters and Lena's nephew is precious.

"Tell me what you want," he grumbles, staring down at me.
"You," I say , "I want you."

Rowan Revived
is a sweet slow burn romance filled with strong woman and a great example how real men should be. A story filled with emotion and is guaranteed to tug on your heart strings.

Trigger Warning: discussion of physical abuse.

This book was well-written and more original than anything I've recently come across, but I think we have a case here of 'it's me and not the book.'

It wasn't awful, just kind of...boring. It had a good setup and premise. But the h, Lena, and her older sister were super co-dependent, and that traced back to how they were raised. Not that I care, but at the risk of sounding insensitive I really can't relate to their background or to people who stay in certain situations once it's in their power get out - or at least not repeat the cycle. I guess I get that it's a cycle and not at all cut and dried, but because of the way I'm wired it's not a concept I can ever grasp and therefore have no insight. Even so, I found myself feeling vaguely impatient at times with the older sister, Millie, for her choices and with Lena, for always shouldering a responsibility that should never have been hers.

The characters were all pretty likeable, but something was missing for me. More depth, more something. I felt the story centred too heavily on the sisters and as a result I didn't really connect with Lena and Jesse, nor did I really feel their assumed chemistry. And with the book being a slow-burn to around 75-80%, the sudden back-to-back-to-back sex scenes were like whiplash. I love slow-burners as a rule, but this one didn't work well for me - mostly because the story arc with the sister was building towards something interesting and then BAM! this big chunk o' shaggin' derailed it. I skimmed most of that because it bored me and took me out of the story. But that took me almost to the climax, which felt rushed and unsatisfying. A hero needing rescued is a big favourite of mine, but Jesse's shooting was handled frustratingly fade-to-black.

That said, my review shouldn't dissuade anyone from reading this book. The writing was quite good, despite some editing misses here and there. The writer dealt responsibly with subject matter that is very serious and relevant and will undoubtedly resonate with many readers. It just didn't resonate with me. I saw enough to know I will check out more of this writer's work, so despite the 2.5 star, middle-of-the-road rating, I consider this one a win.

Synopsis:

Lena is good at fixing things and when her sister and nephew are in danger it becomes her job to fix things and help them escape away from Boston. Fleeing from danger Lena finds herself and her family at Rowan Inn a charming Bed-and-Breakfast that is run down and in need of some tender loving care. The owner, Jesse Rowan is grumpy and hard to reach and has lost all faith in the Bed-and-Breakfast, it is Lena’s job to try convince him to let them stay in return for her help to fix up the place and Jesse who is a project in himself.

Review:
Rowan Revived is the fourth book by Taylor Danae Colbert, all her over reads had high ratings from me therefore I knew before reading that Rowan Revived would too, it didn’t disappoint.
Before beginning to read, I really liked how the synopsis was from the character Lena’s point of view, this created an instant connection along with the prologue that felt very welcoming and quite warming.

The first chapter instantly pulled me and pulled on my heart strings, I could tell this book was going to be hard to put down and it continually played on my emotions throughout, I could really feel the characters pains and frustrations.

I connected well with all the characters and I loved how Lena was a strong, feisty and independent woman, not a damsel in distress. I loved the chemistry between Lena and Jesse but I found it frustrating in parts because the build up between them was huge, I just wanted things to take off straight away! Jesse was dreamy, he would be described as the perfect man, that was after you could see his walls being let down, I really enjoyed his transformations from guarded tough guy to soft, sensitive and funny! The jumps between the characters perspectives were also easy to follow.
Although the story line was a little predictable in places and you knew that something would kick off, it didn’t spoil the book, far from it because it still played with your emotions regardless.

Taylor Danae Colbert does an amazing job at raising awareness of sensitive issues in her books and she didn’t disappoint with Rowan Revived, she did a fantastic job or raising awareness of Domestic Violence and the impact it can have on families.

Another heart-warming, heart wrenching love story from Taylor Danae Colbert with characters you could fall in love with and a story line that grabs you in.

Holy macaroni noodles!! Best. Book. EVER!

Taylor Danae Colbert has completely knocked the ball OUTTA the park with her new release, Rowan Revived!! If I was forced to choose a favorite, Rowan Revived would definitely be a top contender.

In Rowan Revived we meet Jesse, Lena, Milllie, and Caleb.

Caleb stole my heart from the get-go so he will definitely steal yours. Anywho, Lena will do anything to protect her sister and nephew from the buttwipe, Tiger. While fleeing to protect them, they come across this inn, Rowan Inn, and, oh my goodness, do sparks fly!

What I really loved about, Rowan Revived, was the protectiveness Lena felt over her sister and nephew. The risks she willingly took tugged at my heartstrings because you just do not see it that often. Then there is Jesse, who is struggling in his state of mind. Him being so lost made me cry more than a few times.

The way Taylor was able to transcribe the pain and emotional struggles of the characters is downright exceptional. She has this way with words that hooks you and refuses to let you go even after finishing her creation. She is a talented writer that leaves you begging for more!

Overall, Rowan Revived is hands down worth the one click. Heck, any book by Taylor is worth the one click! She is just that much of an amazing writer. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. I’m crossing my fingers for another look into these characters!!

I just finished the book and all I want to cry out is — YES! ROWAN REVIVED STOLE MY SOUL!
No kidding,  I feel like I am – as my former young teen self would say – mush.   The emotions hit you like a hurricane! And it has you from the moment you start with the prologue, and I can say that it had me stuck to me seat ever since I read these lines.

//𝑯𝒆’𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍— 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍— 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒅. 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒃𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒚 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒏𝒌𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒕. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒑𝒔 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒓, 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑰’𝒗𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒇-𝒂-𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅, 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒕. — Lena,  Chapter 2. //

Jesse and Lena take everything,  shut in a box and let Caleb throw the key away.

Lost and broken in their own ways,  these two breathed new life into each other for something more, something beautiful.

Stronger together.

Lena's strength and courage is something I personally felt inspiring.

She didn't let her past rule her life.

She was a giver and a protector.

Jesse felt lost in the world and had hardened, until a spitfire drove into the Rowan Inn with her sister and nephew. He unexpectedly found what his missing piece, I'd say.

It's amazing to watch them grow and overcome their troubles, finding their way through life while building a new path and falling in love.

Almost every single character played a vital role, if not all.  I laughed, I felt angry and anxious, I squealed and in the end,  complete.

I say this a lot,  but every book is a journey and this is one I'd go for again and again.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.

I read Off the Record by this author earlier in the year and totally fell in love with her writing. I knew that I wanted to read this immediately. Colbert's writing transports the reader into the story unquestioningly.

It's so easy to step into the shoes of the characters. The writing is so immersive. The characters have wonderful development. They are full of so much depth and they grow as the story progresses. The reader can feel everything that characters are feeling right along with them. Lena is my favorite kind of lead lady- feisty and fierce. She caught my attention and I immediately warmed up to her. Jesse is a brooding hero that is hurting and has his walls up high to others. Lena and Jesse's story was beautiful. They completed each other in so many ways. They were each the missing piece that the other needed. The side characters were marvelous as well.

Overall, this author doesn't cease to dazzle me with her emotional stories and characters that you want to stick in your pocket and take home with you. After you finish one of her books you cannot stop thinking about the characters. They will consume your thoughts for days. I can't wait for the next book from this author!

I just finished an ARC of Rowan Revived and I absolutely loved it! It is a beautiful story about starting over, enemies to lovers, and the love of family.

Lena is trying to get her sister Millie, and nephew Caleb, away from Millie’s abusive boyfriend. They stumble upon an Inn outside of Boston, and hope it is a good resting stop for the time being until Lena can figure out their next plan.

Jess is the owner of the Inn, and is not very welcoming when they first meet. He didn’t want them there for long because he’s trying to sell the only home he’s ever known, and run away from the bad memories that surrounds it. Throughout the course of Lena’s stay, she begins to learn the real reason why Jesse wants to sell, so she begins to try and figure out a way to turn his luck around and make him see how important he is to the community.

As she is doing so, she begins to feel how important he has become to her and her family. Jesse also soon begins to see that Lena is becoming the one person he can’t leave behind, and that maybe what he’s been waiting for has already shown up.

Taylor is a new-to-me author and oh man, I am so glad she found me because I really enjoyed this book! It was the perfect mix of light and dark; romance with a bit of a thrill. The characters were likable (even when Jesse was being an ass) and Lena was a bad little biddy that took exactly zero shit. Jesse’s character arc was basically perfect because not only did we get to see him soften and come around to Lena, but is there anything cuter than a man that’s good with a kid? Yeah, no.

Can’t thank the author enough for the e-arc!So so excited to read more from you, Taylor! Rowan revived is available now on Kindle and Kindle Unlimited.

I am a huge sucker for a "starting over" type story. Pair that with Millie & Lena's sisterly love and the enemies to lovers trope and I was done for. This book was emotional but still had those classic TDC moments that made me giggle. Despite the deeper scenes, it was a feel good book. The kind that me gooey inside. I'm thinking somebody needs to call the Lifetime or Hallmark Channel and get this turned into a movie STAT.

P.S. I'm sort of obsessed with Jesse's Inn and also.... Jesse. I'm sort of obsessed with him too.

My favorite TDC book thus far!!!! So many wonderful themes in this story — family & helping our loved ones, starting over, change, enemies to lovers, our inner battles... just so much emotional goodness in this book! I love the way Jesse & Lena’s relationship started off. I loved the way their relationship developed. I loved how they found something inside each other that was missing from their own lives. Such an enjoyable read!

Taylor Colbert has written a exceptional read in the book! You have Jesse who’s this rugged, sexy man who has his own set of issues though and then there’s Lena who is trying to help family. The two collide in a story that will hav e you laughing, tearful and not being able to put this down. It comes out today, and you need to get yourself a copy! You won’t be disappointed in the least! I want to thank Taylor Colbert for my Arc and just know this one will do very well!

Good story, but

The storyline was original enough to keep me reading. I found the writing to be somewhat mediochre, and the editing the same (the use of 'then' instead of 'than' is a real irritant to me). There is a gradual buildup of sexual tension, but then the sex scenes are more graphic than romantic. The language, particularly the frequent, unnecessary use of the 'f' word, is rough.
