She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!
She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.
She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!
Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.
A very quick read for me but so very sweet. Puppies, an adorable little girl, and a hunky single dad...could any woman ask for more? Add on a Christmas holiday and this story will make you smile, with a sniffle or two, and transform an evening into a magical holiday hug.
The Mistletoe Puppy by Roxanne Rustand Coupled by Christmas Book One Kate Larssen keeps busy with her job as a nurse at the local clinic and also runs the local shelter. Her track record with relationships isn't so good. Life changes when a deputy and his daughter start visiting the shelter to see the momma dog and her puppies he had rescued.
Deputy Brad Bailey is doing his best to raise Janie. They've had a rough year. At first, he thought it was a good thing to visit the shelter, but not so much now that Janie has her heart set on the runt of the litter. The cabin they rented just wasn't the right place for a puppy. However, he enjoyed visiting the shelter...maybe to see Kate more than the dogs.
A remarkable story with adorable puppies and critters. Friends getting together for Christmas when they have no other family to celebrate with. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Kate Larsen runs a pet rescue part time while working as a nurse. Kate has a heart of gold for all animals and humans. Deputy Brad Bailey arrives at the rescue when she is getting ready to close. He has found a seemingly abandoned golden retriever mom with 13 puppies. He lost his wife the Christmas before and he feels like he lost his daughter, Janie, as well. She has lost her light at six years of age. This one will make you feel good about humanity. It shows the good side of people who really care about about others and all God's creation. It is a sweet, easy and inspirational read. Also, if you are an animal lover you will LOVE this book. Christmas, puppies and romance... what more could you ask for!
A holiday read about puppies, a delightful first grader, animal rescue and love. As an avid reader, who reads to escape the unprecedented reality of the time, I was pleased that Roxanne Rustand at least made mention to washing hands to the Happy Birthday song and that flu season was particularly hard for both patients and staff. Gives the setting a realistic feel. Part mystery, part romance, part fun. A delightful new series that lifts the spirit during unusual times. Well done Roxanne Rustand.
Deputy Brad Bailey is dreading his new job, because his young daughter is still traumatized by her mother's unexpected death. He rescues a dog and her young pups on a cold winter night. His daughter falls in love with the puppies and is upset when the dog family has to be taken to the Animal Shelter. The manager of the shelter becomes friends with the young girl and her father.
The Mistletoe Puppy is a heartwarming story about putting aside the pain of the past and being open to embracing a happier future. The story centers around Kate, Brad and and six-year-old Janie and 13 holiday puppies who offer healing puppy love to a heartbroken little girl. I think you'll enjoy reading it as much as I did.
A clean romance with some suspense but still a HEA.
Kate runs the local no-kill animal shelter, Brad is a new deputy in town. Can Brad's daughter Janie bring the two together with her love for a small puppy? This clean romance takes part over the Christmas season which adds to its charm. There's a bit of suspense but still a very happy ending.
I am a true dog lover and this story made me cry that Janie finally got to keep Princess. I have rescued dog all my married life and still rescue senior dogs. So happy Kate has met someone to love. The Christmas celebrations brought back so many memories to this elderly reader. Thank you.
I very much liked this sweet story. What's better than puppies, a little girl, a hamster &a chance for love for Kate & Deputy Brad. There is a little mystery too. Perfect length for an afternoon to give you Christmas cheer this 2020 year.
Rust and has begun her Christmas series with a delightful story of Kate, the owner of a pet shelter in the small town of Mistletoe. When she has thirteen puppies and the mother brought into the kennel to nurse them back to health her life turns into pleasant. With the holidays approaching it is a truly lovely story to read and enjoy.
