Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife, children, and two adopted dogs Rusty and Harley Quinn. He writes with a passion to bring his characters to life, to make you fall in love with them, and then make you flip pages to find out if they’ll survive or perish. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superheroes. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life. Mike loves to write in different genres and is unafraid to try something new.

A day trip to a Civil War Battleground turns into a zompoc free lunch

A redneck with a truck full of guns and ammo, a short bus full of history students and teachers and an obese family on a learning vacation, along with hundreds of other tourists are suddenly in the middle of a zombie feast as a freak thunderstorm with pink raindrops raises thousands of dead Union and Confederate soldiers who immediately crave brains from the living they surround.

Seth and Earl set a prime example as they load up on Earl's arsenal and begin blowing zombie heads to jagged pieces, because everyone knows that you have to shoot a zombie in the head to re-kill it. Just plain fact! On this first day of the zombie apocalypse, just getting away from the thousands of dead soldiers pulling their hungry selves out of their shallow graves was enough to consume the first volume of this tale of a vacation from hell!

Wonderful characters (the living ones) begin this storyline and may be the few who survive, although even that is dubious. This story is going to be huge, as the Vacation From Hell continues. The amazing characters, the huge storyline told by a master storyteller alert me to the fact that this is a great read! Can't wait to continue the series!

Confusing with no likeable characters

I think the basic plot of this story is really cool. The characters hurt the story. There is no one even remotely likeable. For some reason, every character is a jerk to their family and everyone else they meet. When characters are given any sort of backstory they almost immediately do something that doesn't match what we are told. I couldn't get a grip on the timeline because the constant bickering dialogue of everyone being a jerk was distracting.

WOW!

A civil war battlefield has a large group of tourists that are about to have a really bad day. The soldiers lost during that battle many years ago are now rising from their resting place and they are hungry and not your run of the zombies. I highly recommend this book of you enjoy the horror/zombie genres.

Enjoy the ride

This book is hilarious. I laughed so much as the characters dialogs that 3 people asked what I was reading and have since downloaded the book. This is my second book read from Mike Evans and I have been throughly entertained by both his sense of humor and lets not forget a great storyline.

Family problems,

I think I can identify with Seth, families can be pain.
Anyway, this is a good book, the survivors are cool, shut keeps getting dumped in them and they keep in getting up and going on but not without moaning, this is a zombie book with a lot of people in a bad mood.read it,it's fun

What a great start to this series! So glad I have all 3 books. That ended wide open and I’ll have to get to book 2 soon. Mike Evan’s can make zombies scary, gross, funny, and sad all in one book. Amazing. Love the characters, although I’m sure we will lose some. Earl might be my favorite character. Hope to see more of him.

DNF at 54% 🤦‍♀️ There was so much bad about this; I don't even know where to begin. Caricatures of characters, typos, and the storyline is all over the place. It's as though the author began writing and kept transitioning from one idea to another. It just doesn't gel.

Love this author!

I have enjoyed all of Mike's books. I get into the idea of zombies and the he goes off on a bunny trail and I end up laughing out loud at what he is saying. I highly recommend his books to my friends and family.

The good stuff. Fast paced and gory AF. I'm not a fan of the same events / different viewpoints formula but I will admit it works well here.

Well all Seth wanted was a great vacation with his family . Until the moment they went to a Civil War battleground . That is when for lack of a better word all hell breaks loose . They start coming back to life and they are hungry , I mean really hungry . All they want is brains and they are coming for anyone on the battle field . Now Seth and his family have to trust Earl to help get them out and someplace safe before the world is destroyed .

The characters are well written and when you see them you will be thinking yep that is my family on vacation . Seth is a father who just wants to have a good time but his family well they are your typical family who doesn't want to do anything on holiday . We see them start off as your typical family with problems but once they are fighting for their lives you see them start to become more complex and they become a team that will fight together

This is a new series for the author and I really enjoy his zombie books . This is no exception you get to see how people react to unforeseen things that can happen when people are pushed to their breaking point . The only thing that had me not giving it a five stars I just felt at the beginning it kind of dragged a bit but once you meet the zombies the action really picks up and has you on the edge of your seat . Over all I truly enjoyed this book so if you want a good zombie book for your winter reading list check it out .

I like this author’s style of writing. He writes what he thinks. It’s like he’s recording himself talking and that is exactly what ends up on the paper. It might not be ‘correct’ and I’m okay with that. I love zombie books, and this is a great premise for a story!
