I’m the new king of the City of Dragons.
Everyone is ready to bend to my will.
Everyone, except the one person I want to crown as my queen.
She’s as distant as the north star.

What’s the title of that old book again? Romeo and Juliet?
Yeah, that’s what this feels like.
Her family hates mine. They want me dead.
And there’s no happy ending here.

But I’m the king for god’s sake.
I’ll make sure I get my happy ending.
I’ll bruise her lips with my kiss.
I’ll melt her ice cold wall with my fire.

And I’ll rule her heart till the end of time.

The City of Dragons is the place of your dreams. Red-hot dragons left, right, and center, waiting for you to explore the concrete jungle with them. Are you ready to enter this city of fantasy, where mates, magic, and more await?

Good story of what happens when people are prejudice to others. I did feel that the book could have flowed better and more written between some of the chapters. We have Bryant who is now king and has a lot to learn and wants to change things. Bryant has always felt like Willow was his soulmate, but for years they have not talked. Willow comes from a family that has been against the Royal family. She feels that she has to stay away from him. Could they ever be together? Love or Family who should come first in her life. I received a free copy for my honest review.

Another awesome side to the dragon clans.... bad guy blows alot of hot air; good guy pines for the girl; good girl plays aloof while secretly pining for the guy; lots of interference from all around, but in the end the good dragon wins!
Bryant's story is sad, touching and a big Whoo Hoo!!! Willow is a hard girl to figure out but when he does holy moly those fireworks are flying!!! It's funny how everyone always has advise for someone who isn't in love, doesn't want a relationship and it's really not a good time in there life. Am sure we all get that advise to some degree or other whether its wanted or not! Glad to see both Bryant and Willow are capable of letting it go, for the most part, in one ear and out the other.
Willow has the family who are as stuffy as stuffy can get with a couple pockets of normal. Bryant's brothers understand his dilemma and are willing to support him no matter what! The parents tho are kinda absent when he really needs them, as seen by the fact he is still calling and asking his Uncla Stephen for advise.
I did applaud Tristan coming with the idea of dating Willow for them to get to know each other, seeing as they never really did get that far. Of course Maxwell (resident jackhole) pushes to far and hard and Bryant does an awesome job of countering him! I thought that was a great idea he got when he did his research... I really didn't expect another duel... he knew exactly how to get to Maxwell!
Next maybe Harrison or Tristans story??? Maybe one of the wolves from Volentis becomes involved with a dragon???Hmmmmmmmmmm either way am so looking forward to the next book!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my review... hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Following up on her last book, Taught by the Dragon, where she introduced is to the dragon city magically hidden in the Texas desert. Bryant is the newly coronated King of Volentis. His father, the former king, tells him he needs to find his soulmate so he will have someone to help him rule and keep him honest, so to speak. Bryant knows he has already found his mate, but she has basically rejected him. He finds Willow standing alone at the party for his coronation, but she is still cool in her manner and quick to leave his company. He has no idea how to win her affections, especially since it was her cousin who challenged him for the throne and her uncle who is his biggest detractor.

Willow always feels like she is balanced on a tightrope around her family. Fortunately she has wings, but it is still tiring to attend family dinners. Her uncle Maxwell is easily triggered when it comes to anything connected to the royal family and her father is quick to defend his brother's rhetoric. All of this is whole reason she has cut herself off from emotional encounters. Though she never admitted it to him, she was sure Bryant was her soulmate from the instant she met him. She also knows she can never let her family, especially her uncle, find out. Bryant does not deserve the outcry that would cause.

Will these two ever be able to beat down the barriers that are keeping them apart?

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

🐲🐲ONE FANTABULOUS THRILL🐲🐲
Dragon draggers! Kayla brings it when she comes and she comes out swinging with hot little number, serving up some hard facts, dubious deals and thrilling truths, hooking you from the start and reeling you in for the duration, catapulting this gem to staggering heights. Observing the formidable trials and challenging tribulations, noting the deadly twists and dramatic turns, broken boundaries and shredded limitations are amplified and expanded, igniting a fierce surge of determination with such intensity and precision, thrusting this gem into the eye of the storm, kicking it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing realization. Sparks fly as daring drama, perilous intrigue, spiraling danger, escalating suspense and intense situations ensue in epic proportions, propelling this baby to life brilliantly. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add diversity, transforming into formidable personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Kayla, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

This is a great start to what I am sure will be another fun series from this fabulous writing duo if their past books are anything to go by

The story is about Bryant who is the newly coronated King of Volentis his father has told him as he stood down that he needs to find his soulmate as she is the one who will help with ruling and will keep him honest at all times. Bryant is fairly certain he has met his soulmate in Willow The only problem is hr family hates the royal family it was her cousin who challenged him for the throne and her uncle never misses an opportunity to bad mouth the royal family and her father always agrees. So even though Willow knows he is her soulmate she wants nothing to do with it all She already finds it hard within her own family let alone adding more drama to her life. Can these two find a way to be together You will have to read to see

This book follows the final book in the Dragon Valley series. The characters in this book were introduced in that book and you'll get more out of this book if you read "Taught By The Dragon" first.

I already liked Bryant and his brothers and wasn't sure how I felt about Willow when I started this book. As the book went on it was easy to see her persona was a protective mechanism to help her deal with her family. I enjoyed the interactions between Bryant and Willow once she loosened up a bit. Maxwell was the same self-important jerk he was in the previous book so it was great to see him taken down a notch. I can't wait to see what happens with Bryant's brothers and even Willow's cousin.

Brilliant

Brilliant first book of the series. After what seems like a lifetime apart Bryant manages to get Willow to break down some of her walls and admit that she also knows that they are soulmates. The big problem of why Willow hid her feelings is her family mainly her Uncle Maxwell he hates the crown. An opportunity arises for Bryant to call Maxwell the the palace about what he has been saying to the press and if it’s true where the evidence to back it but then invites Maxwell into his private chamber and asks about Willow and her being his mate. Maxwell wants a duel but his downfall means that Willow and Bryant can announce them being mates and also for her to become Queen.

This is a continuation of a series, but can be read alone.
Bryant is King. During his coronation he sees Willow. Wishes he could be with her but she is cold to him. Her family hates his. His problem is that he believes she is his soulmate.
Her family was tasked with providing criticism to the Crown. Former King Alexander stepped away from this task causing Maxwell to become antagonistic towards the Crown, so Uncle Maxwell recently tried to overthrow it.
What do two people who know they are meant for each other do in this situation?

It’s good to be the king?

King Bryant of the dragon shifters has all kinds of problems. He new on the job, meaning he’s inherited the old king’s problems, especially one cranky-pants old political adversary. And to really screw things up, his soulmate, who should be ruling beside him, won’t even speak to him. AND she’s the niece of his outspoken opponent. Family politics, shifter politics, and just the usual royal politics and duties all conspire to keep the fates mates apart. But the king refuses to accept the status quo! Clever, cute, and just a bit steamy!

It is well written and the characters are well developed, I enjoyed the storyline. Bryant was King of the Dragons. This book is very entertaining and kept me interested all the way through. Willow is the niece of Maxwell and he is a little hard to get along with. They decide to do something about it. This book has drama, twists and turns, intrigue, and romance. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.

We’ve been leading up to Bryant’s story.
He’s the new king of Volentis.
He’s single.
And he’s got a major Jones for Willow.
Except their families hate each other (it’s a generational thing). Ellis challenged Bryant and lost.
I liked that Willow played it cool for years, as she was loyal to her family.

Drama and steam and politics.
Recommend.

“......queenly things..”

Dragon King is the first book in the series City of Dragons by author Kayla Wolf. Entertaining read- lots of drama. Bad guy- a just monarch- a damsel who can hold her own. It’s a fairytale with a twist.
Enjoy!!

Enjoyable but a little slow

The idea of what they were having to deal with made the story move a little slow, IMHO. To be as old as they were they seemed very immature! Why not deal with the family issues when she first knew he was her soulmate. It seems like they wasted a lot of time with their immaturity but all in all it was an easy enjoyable read

Dragon King: ( City of Dragons (1) )

Well, this was certainly different. Don't think I've read a Dragon Shifter book like this before. When I started, I wasn't sure at all that I would like it. Made the decision I would keep reading & see how it worked out. I'd say it worked out ok. Quite refreshing in fact. Let's see how book 2 pans out.

Dull and Duller

This was a slowwwww burn. Just a little too slow for my tastes, maybe because there was barely any drama. Willow kept repeating the same things OVER AND OVER to the point I just started skipping along hoping to finish the book as quickly as possible. It was written very nicely though just wish for a little more entertainment next time.

Excellent Read

I truly enjoyed reading this novel. Even for a dragon, life is just too short to spend it alone. Miserable people just love to make life difficult for others. Unfortunately, Paula's uncle is well versed in this type o negative behavior. I was delighted when Kayla and Bryant decided to just live for each other.

Dragon King: Dragon Shifter Romance

This was my favorite of all the Dragon romances that I have read. The characters are very likable. The young king was very wise as well as good. He knew his soulmate and stayed true to their mating.Together they were a wonderful mating. I was so impressed.

I was hooked on the first page wondering what would follow. I love a character who take charge and fight for what he wants, this storyline will take you into a world filled with drama, suspense and of course love. The relationship between Willow & Bryant will melt your heart, they are strong, stubborn, you will laugh and cry but You will fall in love with them. I highly recommended it

Great read. Exciting, emotional, suspenseful and much more. What do you do when you want someone and her parents hate you and she doesn't want you. Read the blurb and then the story. Very enjoyable to read. Part of a series but stands alone too. I really had a lot of fun reading it and recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.

Slow

I wanted to love this story but whenever I had to put it down I forgot about it. Then coming back to the story I kept hoping that something would spark any kind of flame for me but it was dull and hard to get thru.

Things move pretty fast for the new king ... yet again very slow! A lot of family drama, slanderous deception, and personal growth happening in this story.

Starts out as a spurned lover lost as he ascends the throne. Loved Uncle Stephan’s return to this city. Halfway it becomes a tense drama.
