"Wild Moon" is the first book in the rejected mate romance, series,Real Wolves Biteby C.R. Jane and Mila Young. It is also the first book in the multi-author series,Kingdom of Wolves.
REAL WOLVES BITE . . .
I was taught my whole life about the importance of true mates, how when you find that one wolf for you, everything falls into place.
Everyone who taught me that was a liar.
When I found my true mate, happily ever after sure as hell didn’t start, but hell definitely began.
I ran away, and now I’ve been searching for peace for weeks as I drive around the country.
I didn’t mean to take the wrong road. I didn’t mean to make it to that small town.
And I didn’t mean to meet two men, who set me and my wolf on fire.
But here I am somehow, and peace is the last thing I’ve found.
And don’t forget about the serial killer…
This is a Rejected Mate series, filled with scorching hot wolf shifters who take what they want, enough steam to burn you up, and a hidden town filled with secrets. You'll love this paranormal romance if you love True Blood, Twilight, or Vampire Diaries.
I'm a wife, mother, and author! Writing has always been a passion for me, and publishing my first series is a dream come true. I drink too much caffeine, never sleep, and my imagination is always churning out ideas. Eva and her men have been in my head for awhile, and I'm so glad to finally take you with me on this journey!
I'm not sure if we are all reading the same book, but all the 5 stars has me completely puzzled. Nothing in this book adds up or makes a lick of sense!? We get our H running from a mate who hurt her, and we don't get the Specifics right away, but we get the gist that it's bad. As she is fleeing from her horrid situation she has a accident and ends in a town not on any maps she seen. Now it goes downhill and fast! She see's hot men everywhere and can't look away, these men make her tingle and are smoking hot. And as we read on for about 70% of this book our H who can't seem to help herself and is checking them out and berating herself every other page. I'm going to be honest, a abused, batter women who's running from a ex isn't going to even think about the next dude or dudes. All her actions are so far from a women running for her life. In one instinct she puts on a dress and heals she bought while running away?? This is explained because she might have job interviews in her future? But decides to wear this hot number downstairs to the bar? A women running has few choices and conversing money yet she bought a little black dress and heals?? now downstairs staring at one of these hot guys ( rolling eyes) he ends up fighting with other said hot guy, these dudes get into a huge brawl and instead of running off from the violence of aggressive men. She climbs up on a table to watch better? None of this screams a women hidding, staying to herself, or abused. She quite literary a far cry from what the authors are trying to betray? Now if that wasn't ridiculous enough, our H is a shifter, yet when she lands in this shifter town she doesn't realize they are all shifter!!?? How??? They growl, sniff at her, have strange eyes? Their are even wolf's running around everywhere and in town. Yet none of this shifter stuff registers to a shifter? Come on! And now @ 70% do we get what her ex has down, so now we know there is something they didn't like to lock down her wolf and reject her. So the authors now decide to thrown in some unknown magic power she had because, why not, this book isn't making any really sense and had been nothing but pages filled with our H libido! So why not right? Then our H has sex with one of the guys are runs away. Blah blah blah. Most ridiculous book I've read in a long time. Dnf @84%
So, uh, this book confused me. It's not that its intellectually challenging, but more so that some things are just nonsensical.
There will be some spoilers from this point forward, so if you don't want to read any spoilers, then now is the time to stop reading. :)
Okay, so a lot of this book is written in vague context; meaning, things are talked about that we, as the readers, have no knowledge of. I understand that it is supposed to be this way, and as the story moves forward things are revealed to us. However, rather than being intrigued by this, I was very much put off. By doing it this way, the story felt disjointed to me.
So, the FMC is a werewolf who was rejected by her fated-mate. He's a terrible person, and does terrible things to her, so she runs. She ends up in a really small town in the middle of nowhere. She sees wolves in the forest surrounding the town, she hears a bunch of the "locals" growling, she sees people's hands turn into claws, and a lot of the people in town exhibit werewolf behavior, i.e., sniffing the air, growling, glowing eyes, etc. BUT, the FMC is absolutely NOT aware that they are werewolves. In fact, she thinks she's going crazy and seeing things and thinks that the towns people are just a little weird. AND THEN, is upset and freaks out when she finds out that they are werewolves. Yes, the SAME FMC that is ALSO a werewolf herself, has absolutely NO CLUE that she is living amongst a bunch of werewolves. *FACEFUCKINGPALM*
Throughout the story, we are given hints that the people in town are werewolves, essentially the same clues that the FMC is given I suppose, but I don't understand why all of it is even a secret in the first place. Her NOT knowing they are werewolves (the idiot), and the people (especially the men she meets) not telling her did NOTHING to enhance the story. All it really did was make everyone look really, really stupid.
Also, as the story progresses, we are given some hints that the FMC is "more" than what she seems because of things that she does. There are snippets of a backstory involving her mom that we know will come to mean something, and there are also suggestions littered throughout the book that things in Amarok (the name of the small town) are about to get really ugly. Additionally, the FMC finds herself torn between two ridiculously hot alphas. I mean, these are all great hooks and would normally make me want to continue on with a story, but...how in the hell do I get past the fact that the whole first book is essentially about a werewolf, who is running from another werewolf, and finds herself stuck in a town that she doesn't realize is full of werewolves?!?!
To be a little more fair, the FMC has had her wolf suppressed by her evil AF fated-but rejected her-mate, so she can't technically smell--or whatever it is that wolves use to identify other wolves--the towns people and know they are wolves right off the bat. But seriously, c'mon! She has lived amongst them her whole life, she knows how they act.
Anyways...if it isn't obvious, I'm not a fan of how things played out in this book. There isn't anything wrong with the actual writing, but rather just me and the story line not seeing eye to eye.
DNF - quit at 37% This is super duper slow moving, to the point of loosing my interest. Somebody else may enjoy this, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. For me the plot flows like a horror movie, waiting for the bogey man to jump out & start killing people, I kept thinking that the creepy scary music would start playing. Not a good thing for a person who hates horror movies or horror stories -thinking it was going to be a paranormal romance. It technically may not be a horror story since I didn’t finish, but by the point I quit (far enough in that it should have been giving off different vibes), there’s no hearts or warm fuzzy feelings of any kind, just a nerve wracking fear of what’s going to happen next or who the first person will be that will be killed. Theres quite a few guys introduced, but I’m not sure if any of them would end up being the MMCs of the book (the cover art shows 3 wolves, so I’m assuming a RH). The FMC, Rune, is different, at times she’s beat down from her douche mate, but it was hard to get an overall feel for her -enough to start liking her or care what happens to her. I kept wanting to scream at her to get out of that town, like I would scream at the tv to the stupid idiots who get killed in the horror movies. There’s way too much mystery & not enough something to give the reader a handle to grasp at to keep my interest in the mystery. There’s no info given about why her wolf can’t emerge or if she’s a born wolf or a turned wolf or what, or how she ended up with her fated mate douche that she ran from. No history or world building to get a grasp of who/what/where/when/why things are happening.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
I read another book from this series and it was actually pretty good and I figured I'd start from the beginning and read them all. I should not have done that.
This one started out pretty good, but after about 30% it just went downhill.
Rune's true mate, Alistair, rejected her and then spent years abusing her, but she runs away and is now on the run when she sees wolves running on the road. She crashes her car and ends up in a small town that she keeps noticing is a bit odd. There, she meets a bunch of handsome men that make her body react (her words not mine) and eventually she figures out that it is a town full of shifters.
So, one issue I have with this book is the fact that Rune is a shifter, who grew up around shifters, and yet had no clue that she found herself in a town full of shifters. The signs were all there, and yet, she was absolutely clueless.
really?
She encounters all these guys who she finds attractive and rather than respond in any way a typical victim would, she essentially is all over them like no big deal like I was abused for years on end and was rejected by mate which broke me, but yer pretty so that all goes flying out the window. 🙄 Before you harp on me about abuse victims and how there isn't any one way to cope.. read this and tell me that it fits, because it doesn't. If you're going to have a heroine whose been a victim of the stuff Rune suffered through, at least make it so its believable... it wasn't like a gradual thing where she eventually warms up to being around strange men or any kind of character development.. It was one second she was a battered victim, the next she is a sex kitten whose body can't get with the program (again, her descriptors... not mine) and back and forth throughout the book.
The MMC's weren't anything to write home about. One of them was kind of an epic jerk for the majority of the book and then all of a sudden he decides he can't live without her and is all head over heals falling for Rune. I also didn't care for the fact that there was this pre-existing issue between the two MMCs where a girl basically played them against each other, and now Rune is almost doing the same thing to them. If they are both her fated mate... cool great whatever. Still, the way she seems to be going behind their backs, it just seems like she's a more polite version of that one chic (can't remember her name). A lot of people don't like what's-her-face for what she did, yet they are okay with Rune doing essentially the same thing? Hypocrite much?
Like I said, this book started strong, got me hooked, and then just devolved as the story progressed. Nothing really happens between the 20% and 90% mark and then all of a sudden Rune is putting 2 and 2 together and realizing that it equals 4 and not 3 (cause duh, she's a shifter in a town full of shifters and she couldn't figure it out). There is a cliff hanger but even that didn't interest me enough to continue with the other books in the series that are related to Rune's story. She seems weak and just isn't interesting enough. Ill read the other books in Kingdom of Shifters, but I think its a hard pass on this Wild Series.
Nothing in this book makes scenes. Character, Story or progression wise. I couldn’t finish the story no matter how hard I tried.
First, FMC does not behave like an abuse victim at all. FMC is constantly berating herself and talking about escaping. but acts the total opposite and “can’t help herself” as she flirts and has sex with an overly aggressive alpha male after being abused & raped by her ex, she still has the bruises from? As much as the FMC claims to be abused, there is no way she would be noticing how hot guys are or standing on chairs to watch fist fights.
Then she’s a shifter running from an abusive shifter right straight into a town full of shifters and the FMC keeps telling herself all the signs she is experiencing that this is a shifter town is her imagination simply because there aren’t supposed to be shifter in that part of the country?!? Can you say ostrich? She a shifter (even if latent) and a wolf shifts into a man in front of her and she believe the lies that she hit her head simply because there is no injury? Oh that’s right, its because there are no shifters in this part of the county. *insert sarcasm here*
Okay here is another thing. An abuse victim on the run who at the beginning takes one small duffle bag with her, is robbed before arriving in town, suddenly has sexy dresses and heals she brought with in case she has a job interview?
Then at 70% of the book the FMC suddenly exudes some random strange magic that takes control of her actions. Ummmm, okay. Oh, And this “might” be why her soul mate rejected her to begin with. If she had no control why is it suddenly appearing now?!? Oh wait insert unrealistic explanation here.
I stopped after that. I was done. I couldn’t read anymore. The lame completely unbelievable explanations for the poor progression of the story was it for me. Then Every time the character made actual progress in the story, two pages later the FMC took five steps backward. Reading was like teaching my underage daughter to drive, constant gas and brake over and over again.
I’m really into the rejected mates trope happening right now, and I was really excited to read this! It didn’t disappoint, but it did leave me a little.. restless? I think I just wanted a little more.
The story starts out strong, but once she gets into the town, I found it a tad bit repetitive. We don’t get any answers until practically the end, and even then, I found Rune to be not as curious as someone in her position should have been. Like when Wilder tells her he wants to talk, I understand that she’s overwhelmed by what’s happened, but I would’ve also expected her to take the opportunity to get answers.
Her past pack didn’t get much mention, just a few flashbacks that were insightful, but it also didn’t establish their world very well. At least if we understood a bit more of what Rune knew growing up as a shifter, I think it would’ve explained more as to why she didn’t recognize a shifter community? She was around them enough, even if she didn’t have her senses, so why didn’t she recognize the town for what it was, or even have any suspicions?
Wilder and Daxon were interesting love interests, we don’t know anything about them, and then all of a sudden they’re everywhere. We get one chapter from Wilder’s POV, which I always appreciate, and we get some of his backstory, but the flip seemed to switch so suddenly with him. Why was he with Arcadia the first day he saw Rune and why did he growl? I would’ve just liked a little more from that, a little more establishing of his feelings.
The Daxon twist I didn’t see coming, I think I’m still unsure as to whether this is RH or not lol. Because there’s also the matter of the Wolf she helped save, and I’m very interested as to what his role in this might be.
I am interested in continuing this series, especially after the cliffhanger. I need to know what Rune is, why she can alter moods (if that’s what it is?) and why her previous pack cursed her. I also hope that her ex gets his butt handed to him by Rune when she gets whatever power it is she has!
Spoilers ahead, seeing this as Kingdom of wolves I honestly thought that each book was interconnected but by different authors....this book is book 1 of a whole different series so what gives???? My fault I did absolutely no research before starting this
Man sometimes I really hate these series because it's clear that this was just dragged out for no dam reason
So the h Rune is on the run from her abusive mate who rejected her and did something to her that stopped her from being able to shift. She stumbles across a very small town and is able to get a job. Now this is a shifter, she can't shift but still and yet throughout the book we get little clues that there's more to some of these ppl than expected and little ms clueless doesn't even buy a clue? There are interrupted moments and conversations that clearly would've pushed the plot forward but nooooo we've got other books for that so let's just keep throwing up roadblocks so nobody is able to have a proper conversation Two males she's irritably drawn too and she picks the asshole to have sex with first 🙄 oh she just can't resist him my ass I liked Rune for the most part, any h who's able to leave a dv situation already has a part of my heart, it takes courage and strength to do that BUT in her interactions with these men? Ughhhhh she irritated me We get stupid vague hints that there's more to the h than meets the eye, instead of intriguing me I was even more irritated The OW drama FFS could we not, how am I to root for these men when you've already shown me that they're stupid? BOTH of them led around by their cocks by one screaming harpy? Till to this day they're enemies and brawling through town??? Grown ass men???? That I'm supposed to believe love the h eventually??? Man leave exes in the damn dust I'm sick of them We get a relatively steady pacing then a fast flip in the end as the secrets get revealed and a whopper of a cliffhanger as hornisha stumbles upon a dead body
No cheating I'm not sure if this is a mmf but we've got 2 love interests do far OW drama that just won't go away
Rune is a shifter who can't shift to her wolf side. She is on the run. The man, Alistair - the alpha - for whom she thought would be her true mate, actually became her jailer. With the help of the only person in the pack - Nelly - good enough to help her, Rune escaped by car as far away from the Chicago pack as possible. But then, in a very lonely place, she ends up in an accident when an animal crosses the road. She goes to a small town called Amarok (which she had never heard of and didn't appear on the map, as she had discarded her cell phone so she wouldn't be tracked by Alistair).
Repairing the car would cost $10,000. She found herself trapped in a town whose residents seemed to feel a great deal of animosity towards Rune. Especially the owner of half the city. Wilder, the owner of the diner where Rune finds work to save money and pay for the car's repairs. As she gets to know the locals - some friendly, others odd - Rune feels two different things: 1. there was a strange atmosphere in that city. Especially when it seemed that even those villagers who treated her well hid something; 2. even without being able to shift her wolf side, something drove her to run every day
So, a new struggle in her life begins. After years of living under the yoke of a man who abused her - and yet she thought he was her fate - two powerful men in the small town begin fighting for Rune's attention. And when I say fight it's literally.
Wilder and Daxon. Two physically different men, but both exuding power. A mix of "love you-hate you" to Rune, confusing her. For me, this whole relationship among them becomes strange because... the plot's purpose is to be a love triangle in which she will choose one of them, or a threesome? In addition to already have a lot of dilemma in her life, imagine when she discovers that the two of them want her to stay - and to leave -, but there is also a killer on the loose, and that she is probably a new target?
My opinion about the book. Please read only if you don't mind spoilers:
* How did the book make you feel?: It honestly took me awhile to get through this book. It had a very solid beginning and setting, but the plot started to drag. * How do you feel about how the story was told?: At first I was very sympathetic toward the h, but then her decisions became erratic. I didn’t feel very much chemistry between her and the two H’s. I can see the setup for the reverse harem, but I’m not really rooting for them. * What did you think about the main characters?: The h’s backstory was so sad and I wanted to like her so badly, but at times she was immature and impulsive. The two H’s are at odds with one another and they’re like dogs marking their territory (fitting), but there’s nothing particularly redeeming or remarkable about either of them other than they’re hot pack Alphas and opposites- one is a nice guy and one is testy. Guess which one she sleeps with first! * Which parts of the book stood out to you?: I loved the beginning. It was such a good setup for angsty goodness, but it fell flat for me. I loved the small town setting and the mystery, but also hated how oblivious the h is when she herself is a werewolf. WTF!? I loved the OTT evil woman. I think this series will be a bit too soap opera-y for me. I hate the back and forth, will they or want they, and the switching of partners. * What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: Rejected mate is one of my favorite tropes when done well (think Rachelle Mills’ Wattpad books), but this one just didn’t do it for me. I’d love to see a rejected mate book where the h ends up with the mate who rejects her. * What did you think about the ending?: I’m semi-interested in what happens with the curse and the h’s newly-discovered supernatural abilities, but HOLY CLIFFHANGER. I’m not invested enough to continue at this time. Maybe later. * What is your impression of the author?: I see potential and I appreciate the world building. The curse the h suffers with is fascinating.
Triggers: rape (off-page), brutal mutilation

So today I won an ARC of the second book and quickly realized that I haven’t even read a book one, I decided to read it now. And I finished it literally sitting in one sitting. I could not stop reading this book. The moments that I couldn’t sit down and read it, I grab my headphones and made Siri read it to me. This book was that good at that I literally could not stop.
When Rune runs for her life from her fated mate who is extremely abusive, she runs into the lands of other shifters. Not knowing it at first the mystery of why all these people are looking at her weird and treating her different, come out when she gets close to a few male shifters who take an interest in her. Secrets come out when they realize that she is a shifter but can’t shift do to something that her fated mate did to her.
This is a slow burn. And full of mystery. I can’t even explain everything that happened. It’s just so good. She gets stuck in this town after a car accident, and quickly find a job so she can pay the mechanic to get her car going again. And from there the story just kind of takes off. Rune Has lived a hard life. She’s been betrayed by her own mother. Her fiancé treated her absolutely horrible. She’s been on the run never staying in one place for long. And then she gets stuck in the small town full of wolves and let me just tell you this book leaves off on an insane cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book two. I already am dying for the ARC that I won!

What an amazing book! The author really knows how to draw you in and keep you invested in the story! I loved the characters, the twists were amazing and even more than I could spot coming! I can’t wait to pick up with the next book and find out what happens!
Whole I liked the storyline, it did hold my attention once I got over how dense and stupid Rune is as she ends up in a little town full of angry weird people doing weird things. she somehow misses that they are wolf shifters whom are like her and she even see wolves. Like really how stupid is this. And randomly has sex with one of them after her history from her old pack. I didn’t hate the book but parts annoyed the shit out of me but how this book has ended I have to read the second one now…
Rejected Mate is one of the hot tropes right now in PNR and I loved Young’s and Jane’s offering. The first in a new series and part of a bigger world. This book had everything going for it and didn’t disappoint. A town with secrets is always fascinating and Rune being the new outsider means she doesn’t question the town and it’s quirks. Rune is wild and she came into her own over the course of the novel. I loved the flashbacks as it made readers appreciate her back story and see how strong she was. The ending was killer and it left things on an interesting note. there is so many questions and you will need more after this instalment As the guys in this book leave plenty to desire for and make being rejected seem like not a bad thing
On the run from an abusive, sadistic mate Rune (FMC) has a crash & ends up in a small town. One where everyone knows everyone else's business. One where half the folks are friendly and the other half are down right hostile. A prime example being her grumpy boss - Wilder and fun loving Biker - Daxon. Both of which hate each other. Unfortunately Rune ends up in the middle of both of them. Fast paced, with plot twists and a blindingly good cliffhanger ending too!! It's a cracking read and I'm dying for the next book now
The idea of a rejected mate boggles my mind but this book lays it out well, and yeah, not fun. So on to the adventure Rune embarks on to try and escape her alpha mate and pack. Things are more than she thought, weirder than she could figure and she gets totally zapped with the chemistry sparking between her and Wilder and Daxon, two alphas in another pack. I enjoyed how the story unfolded but now I'm on tenterhooks after that ending! So much fun getting absorbed by a unique story line but tough to be patient for more ;)
24% in - authors chose to write the FMC as deliberately obtuse; broken ribs wouldn't heal after "a couple of weeks"; FMC is starting to show signs of body betrayal syndrome 25% - authors described a POC using food 26% in - FMC supposedly grew up surrounded by shifters, yet thought it strange when someone sniffed her; FMC thought human men growled; FMC thought it odd that the shop names and some décor was all wolf themed; FMC was "amazed" that everyone in town loved meat. Again, authors thought the FMC being too stupid to put clues together was a good character trait to have. 30% - FMC is surprised that the town has a wolf problem in the woods that surround it. 35% - FMC found it "super strange" that the people at the clinic would rush out to help a wolf in need. But yet, FMC has stated many times that she had good instincts. 39% - FMC lamented earlier in the story about how the people in her old pack would partial shift just to humiliate her (hands to claws); FMC sees the same thing happen and now she thinks she is going crazy 47% - FMC just confessed What a crying shame. 53% - There we have it ladies and gents. Trauma processing? Nope. Wanting to stay out of the spotlight? Nope. Communicating? Nope. However, having the FMC succumb to her body betrayal syndrome? Of course. Let's not worry about pesky consent in this book. 72% - FMC says "who wouldn't blush wildly" when a man threatens sexual violence against someone. Listen, I'm all for people using books as a way to escape things, but the authors did DV trauma a disservice in this book. FMC is weak and refuses to stand up for herself.
**"everything went black" - i.e., the FMC fainted WAY TOO much in this book. In fact, that is a favorite trope of these authors. They enjoy having their FMC's constantly fainting.
Completed the book - I have to finally realize that these authors are not for me. They just don't know how to craft stories well.
Nope. This book is full of toxicity but not intentionally which just made it worse.
To be honest, this book lost me at the $10,000 car repair bill and the FMC deciding that she’d find a way to pay it rather than junking the car for cash and then putting that toward a new one. It was at that moment, I thought, “Was this written by AI?” I kept reading though. I shouldn’t have. It didn’t get better.
Some of what gave me the ick:
-The FMC was crafted to serve the male gaze: tiny gal with the body to die for with natural ice blonde hair. The guys all fall in love with her before they even asked for a last name. Someone runs out of a beauty salon begging to cut her gorgeous and overgrown hair. It’s all very shallow and surface level. -FMC gaslights herself (absolutely in service to the plot) and excuses being overwhelmed and blacking out all the time WAY too easily. -Women are written either as mothers, insta best friends, or pure friggin’ evil. There’s no gray and the writer uses it to excuse violent choices against women. -There was this seriously wild side bar scene where a new waitress was hired and the writer devoted a page to calling the new woman ugly from the FMC’s pov. Then it just pivoted back to the plot.
The world building was not present. The story itself might have stood a chance with a little more questioning of what a real person might do next instead of just making the main character pass out all the time like a reset button. I would have liked to see more of an investigative attitude and less dumb blonde naivety. It didn’t line up with the character’s back story. There’s no way that after living through what she lived through that she’d be that friggin’ dumb, trusting, and under prepared. Ultimately what turned me off though was the way all the women were written. Something was off. It gave me the, “mmm, nope,” feelings big time.
AHHH - I loved this book! I'm so enthralled, that I barely want to leave this review as I need to dive into book 2 asap! lol. *** Rune has been dealt some crappy cards in life. When fate aligns, she meets her fated mate and at a very young age, its almost too good to be true. But after a blood test to determine her linage, she is rejected. Instead, her mate Alistair keeps her around as more of a slave so he can do with as he pleases instead of being a loving, nurturing mate.
Determined to escape, Rune does the unthinkable. When she has been on the road for weeks on end, her submissive behavior gets the best of her and she ends up crashing into a tree in the middle of the woods. When she heads on foot, she doesn't expect to stumble upon the town of Amarok. When she finds herself in a small, quaint town, she doesn't expect to find feelings for not one, but two of the most handsome men she's ever seen in her life. Can fate really be that cruel? Daxon and Wilder are a whole new breed of their own. Are they who say they are? What is really going on in this town? Why are people going missing or killed? ***** This book is so good! I feel for Rune so much! Its clear she became submissive when she had no other choice, but the longer she stays free of Alistair's hold, she's slowly finding herself. I have so many theories about her wolf or what kind of wolf she may be! Daxon and Wilder......man o man, just get over everything already and get the girl! That ending tho....hmmm. Was it real? Or were they playing her???
This book is full of twists and mystery that I couldn't stop turning the pages and NEEDED to know what happened next.
*Overall 5/5 *Slow Burn *Heat? 3/5 *First burn POV. (Mostly Rune, but you do get a chapter or so of Dax and Wilder) *Triggers? Minor talk of rape *Ends on mild cliffhanger
This gripped me from the beginning, as it has so much going on: A woman on the run from an abusive ex and a dark past stumbles upon a close-knit small town that’s clearly got some secrets. She doesn’t have much and runs into several obstacles—watching her adapt accordingly is satisfying and inspirational. There is SO MUCH to love here …
🌒 Small town vibes 🌖 Fresh start vibes 🌒 Dark past / abusive ex 🌖 Women on the run / hiding 🌒 Multiple potential love-interests 🌖 Fated mates / rejected mates 🌒 Corruption 🌖 Mysterious town / entire community secret-keeping
There is a cliffie and I do not find that a reason to be mad. It’s fun and exciting, IMO. Don’t come for me haha. Totally worth it, epic read. I’ll just be over here DYING for book 2’s audio.
4 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Audio: Absolutely perfect—loved the performance and would absolutely listen to more from these narrators. 5-star performance.
Finished in one sitting. *Note: I noticed a lot of reviewers complaining that it makes no sense / or they couldn't follow it. I thought I'd point out that this doesn't take a rocket scientist to follow, and it DOES make sense if you just pay attention. :)
This was the slowest book I have read in months. I kid you not it took literally 95% of the book before anything happened. The rest of the book was just the heroine being a complete idiot and checking out every man in existence.
The heroine is a werewolf, lands in a town of wolves trying to escape her ex (an alpha). She gets there and even though she herself is a wolf she doesn’t realize everybody else is a wolf too, even though the entire town is WOLF themed and she sees LITERAL WOLVES running around. But nah couldn’t possibly be werewolves. So the first 95% of this book was her getting all these completely obvious hints that they’re wolves and being a complete moron about it. There is nothing I hate more than when an author makes the heroine out to seem like she is an idiot.
Honestly the entire book just made zero sense and nothing was going on then at the end they throw in a random cliffhanger like tf that girl got to do with anything how is it even a cliffhanger no one cared about her but ok lmao
4 stars for Wild Moon by C.R. Jane and Mila Young. This is book one in the Real Wolves Bite series. This is also part of the shared world of the Kingdom of Wolves series. Rune thought finding her mate would make her life perfect but really if made her life hell. She is rejected by her mate but still tortured by him until she can break free. “My mother once told me that no one facing darkness feels brave in the moment. It’s about what we learn during the struggle that’s important.” This poor girl suffers a lot but once she breaks free, she does meet to men she is drawn too. Alphas Daxon and Wilder. I feel like if I say to much it will ruin the book. I am not going to start the next book until the rest of the series is finished. My nerves just can’t take it.
I just added this to my lengthy TBR yesterday but something about it made me really want to dive in and I'm so glad that I did!! I loved this book.. I have been in a smut slump and needed something with a little more intrigue and this was it. Definitely read the TW's. My heart is literally broken for Rune.. I cannot believe she isn't even more skeptical than she already is. I love her and I know she's been through hell but her comeback is going to be kickass, I can feel it. I read this book so freaking fast as it wasn't too lengthy which is surprising because I walked away with a good overview of all of the characters. I feel like I know them pretty well without being drowned in details/history. I am so curious to see where book 2 goes and how the story and relationships progress. I have so many questions and I can't wait to find out the answers.
It felt like there is no back story at all, apart from a few flashbacks... i was confused a lot, not understanding what is going on with Rune. And how come she can't what a shifter against a normal wolf kind? She is terrified of them as well! And why is that Wilder s hated her, she doesnt even know her. This is a very confusing book for me. But nearing the end, it began to make sense, so i will get book 2.
Rune is a rather fascinating character that is sweet and naïve but also has so much potential. I am really looking forward to seeing her come into her own in the next two books! The story was great and flowed nicely. The characters are also interesting and definitely kept my attention. I am ready to unravel the mystery of this great new series.
This is a great first read in this series and a fab collaboration! A hot and steamy, suspenseful romance in a town full of secrets, hot wolf shifters and mystery! An exciting and intriguing storyline and fab characters, I oook forward to reading more of Rune’s story!
