As the Akutake comet nears, the disruption of magic has come at the most inopportune time.
The sanctuary of the mages has been compromised. Not only is their safety at risk, but the location of the arcane daggers is a heartbeat away from being discovered by the Pishacha.
With the war’s showdown on the horizon, the elite mages are grasping at straws in their attempt to stop the enemy from unleashing their evil god and his plan to end the world.

This book is stunning. I'm on the precipice, gripped in the anticipation of the coming battle and waiting to tip over. The line has been drawn and sides have been chosen. The battle has been building and soon we will enter the arena for the final showdown. Everything is starting to move so much faster now and the action is really picking up. It is extremely well written and draws you in. You also get to find out so much more about the characters which I loved. It's bittersweet because its almost over but I can't wait to see how it ends. 5 stars and 2 thumbs way way up!!
Amethyst Mage is magnificent. It stunningly written with characters that were beautifully developed. We see more from each person throughout this book. We learn more about each of them. There is so much drama throughout it. It pulls you in and keeps you glued to it. The elite mages are going through so much in this book. The series just keeps building and building. The major fight is getting closer and closer. It has us sitting on the edge of our seat with anticipation. It is a stunning story that just keeps getting better and better. It is extremely well written and the flow of the story is amazing.
I think out of all the characters Mayhara is my favorite as she seems so strong. I love Jae and how intelligent and caring he is. The others have amazing personalities that are also felt throughout the story and series. Each book gives us more and more insight on the characters and what they have been through in their lives. It is written so well that it keeps you very engaged and keeps you guessing. The ending in the book had me going crazy as it was such a dramatic scene. I can not wait to see what happens next in the next book. It is really going to be good.
Going to make a slight spoiler but it becomes obvious 3 chapters in so meh. It’s nice to have a book where the bad guy wins a few battles. This book sets up a good low for our team to overcome in the last book, at least that is what I am hoping for. Karina is performing the funeral rites she was instructed to do in hopes to boost her powers. As they are wrapping up Penny appears much to the group's surprise and pleasure. I agree with the bad guy, they all took to Penny being back way too easy. Yes, I know it was more relief than anything clouding judgement but the lack of questions just blew my mind that everyone left it alone. And not in a bad plot hole way either, I get why everyone didn’t think to question her. Bhutano’s plan is working and no one is the wiser and it was kind of satisfying. And it was nice to see some flashbacks of how some of our characters came to be the way they are or the connections they have, it was a piece I didn’t realize I needed from them. I really enjoyed this installment and am going straight into the last book!
The comet is approaching. The apocalypse is coming closer, too. If Kashmeru awakes and seizes the power, all will be lost. Life as was know will perish. And now the darkness has its own advantage. A secret weapon that might turn the tide. Get the daggers. Defeat the Elite mages. Yet they remain true to their mission. Protect the scroll and the daggers. Call on their powers as much as their can, even with the comet interfering. Because until the last moment, all is not lost. The sixth book in the series brings more tension than any of the books before. With the dark side seemingly gaining the upper hand, we get more drama and more action, but also glimpses into the backstories of almost all elite mages. Even though the emotions seem to be in the background and the danger is in the forefront, there is enough going on that I would love to devour the last book immediately. And see is Mayhara and Jae find a way back together, exploring their feelings... or if Naree still can be saved.
Amethyst Mage (Empire of the Lotus Book 6) by Dorothy Dreyer is an awesome read. This is book number six in this awesome series that I can not get enough of. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading YA books.

This is book 6 of the Empire of the Lotus series. I loved it!!! The story is well written with great character work. An absolutely amazing series that I highly recommend. Received as an arc and leaving a voluntary honest review.
“Empire of the Lotus” by Dorothy Dreyer, is a series that blends epic and urban fantasy with and an Asian themed apocalyptic world into one of the most original stories of the moment. Every new installment moves Mayhara’s story forward and her quest to save the newest reincarnation of the Lotus Empress; it deepens the story, adds new elements to the world, explore the characters’ evolution, showing new aspects of the plot.
“Amethyst Mage” is already the second to last book in the series, in some way the beginning of the end of Mayhara’s epic story. Akutake, the comet is rapidly approaching, the time to stop Kashmeru evil plans is running out. But the disruption of magic is still working against Mayhara and the mages. Knowledge of the location of the arcane daggers is paramount, they shouldn’t under any circumstances fall into the wrong hands. The final battle is approaching, and the mages will have to use every remaining power to build their defense.
This is a very compact installment in the series, and offers a lot of information on the backstory behind the main plot. A very fast-paced and information laden story, with a couple of unexpected twist, a deep insight into the characters, specially Mayhara and Jae and an end that will keep you on the edge of your seat until “Diamond Mage” (the final installment) comes around….you’ve been warned 😉
“Empire of the Lotus” is a beautiful epic tale that mixes Indian, and East Asian mythology, carefully crafted descriptions, and a great variety of characters, to create a wonderful fantasy world, with added layers of dystopian.
