A debut novella from J.M.Morphew. Telling the story of young love and reaching for your dreams. Lily-Rose and Luke have been friends since school but their blossoming romance has never been acknowledged. As they grow older together, their lives force them apart; with Luke heading to the city. With Lily-Rose remaining in the small town, she starts to feel like those she loved are leaving her behind. They're all off in their dream jobs, whilst Lily's working the night shift in a hotel bar. She dreams of city life, the buzz and the bright lights. However she feels they're too far away. When Luke appears in the bar, Lily-Rose is overjoyed. This could be her chance. The chance they never gave themselves as kids. But is all as it seems? Is Luke here to stay or is it a flash in the pan? Could this be her ticket to the bright lights or is she blinded? Bright Lights tells the tale of love, friendship and growing up. It's about following your dreams and believing in yourself.
Initially from the first few pages of this book, I expected this story to follow in the many footsteps of great authors and I was not disappointed.
The writing grabs you into the quite relatable emotions and thoughts of the protagonist's life; the consequence of choices and the volatility some of us may have faced when dealing with the situations the story follows. The themes covered are relatable but not too farfetched in that you can't help but have an appreciation and empathy for the situations covered like that of growing up, early relationships, moving homes, dealing with loss and heartbreak. One can see how this book has already gained notoriety in the small number of fans the author has gained with its compelling plot and suspense wanting readers asking for a second book to follow up such a magnificent read.
Personally, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Romance, relationships and fiction in general, as it would be a great addition to any bookshelf or reading list alike.
