Kristina Beck’s Trapped is an emotionally charged, heartwarming, slow-burn contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes Worlds project.
Charli
Hating my life, I make a single selfish wish. When it’s granted, innocent lives are lost.
And my punishment? I inherit everything, including a beautiful baby girl. Now, I’m a single parent to a six-month-old I haven’t the first clue what to do with.
To make matters worse, Kellan, my father’s broody business partner, shows up looking as gorgeous as ever. It’s always been quite clear that he can’t stand me, but now it seems like the complete opposite.
Everyone says I’m the winner in this situation, but extreme guilt chases away my happiness. Then two more bombs are thrown at my feet, making me question the strength of true love and my future.
Kellan
I miss an exit and become stuck in the middle of a nightmare. Horrific images are burned into my memory. Relief washes over me that it’s not Charli, the woman I’ve always hidden my true feelings from. It’s her sister. Then guilt hits me like a freight train. No one can know.
At the wrong place at the wrong time, I’m brought face-to-face with Charli and her new daughter. Out of respect for my boss, I’ve gone as far as to callously dismiss her. But that reasoning is irrelevant now. It’s time I put everything on the line and prove she’s the only woman for me… even if it means losing her anyway when she finds out my secrets.
Kristina Beck was born and raised in New Jersey, USA, and lived there for thirty years. She later moved to Germany and lives there with her German husband and three children. She is an avid reader of many genres, but romance always takes precedence. She loves coffee, dark chocolate, power naps, and eighties movies. Her hobbies include writing, reading, fitness, and forever trying to improve her German-language skills.
It starts with a bang!!! What a pile up of emotions, right on page 1. I was amped to read the entire sobfest, where slow burning sentiments simmer away gently on a back burner. On the fore burner is intense sexual chemistry between Charli, the interior designer and Kellen Kierney, her Dad's partner. There's age gap, there's forbidden element out in full swing. And the fact that he promised her dad to keep her safely away from guys like him, fills the gully between their relationship with crippling guilt that ebbs and flows. Plus there's the tragedy looming in the background, it's shadows ominously darkening their present status as a couple. Even though the "secret" and whys were not fully comprehensible by me, it's a beautiful story with lots and lots of heart. 4 stars for Noelle Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
Kristina Beck's latest, Trapped, is a new standalone, small town romance that is part of K. Bromberg's exciting Everyday Hero's world. This one starts off with an intense beginning- you can see what's coming but can't look away from it. The outcome of these circumstances have a long ranging ripple effect that wraps its fated hand around many people, bringing a full circle kind of anticipation for these characters futures along with it.
Reality show star, Charli is stuck with a life she is beginning to dread, but it didn't start out that way. Growing up as her dad's protege molded her into who she is now, one of the only women who knows which end of the hammer is up on a construction site. She is has it all- beauty, talent, wealth and a take no prisoners outlook on life. So, how did her life wind up in such a tangled mess? Stuck with someone she no longer loves, who is also her costar on their own popular home renovation show. Faking her feelings alongside him on a daily basis is breaking her. If her father could see her now, whatever would he say??
Kellan is the hunky guy, all business and a few years older, that Charli's been crushing on most of her life, but he doesn't seem to notice her at all. Her father saw a spark in Kellan as a teen, tucked him under his wing when he needed a man to set him on the right path and guide him through life. Time has marched on, that business is now his and the girl he always admired is living a big life without him in LA. She never knew his feelings for her, but there they still are, secretly smoldering away.
Driving home for the Thanksgiving holiday, his world and Charli's too, turns upside down- heartbreak in the blink of an eye as Kellan becomes a reluctant hero while Charli and her mother's worlds are forever changed. With the unthinkable comes a special gift, a second chance and possibly a new life with the man of her dreams.
With many hurdles, a few secrets, emotions running high and some crazy twists thrown in for good measure, this book also fans a sexy, slow burning flame and there's plenty of long awaited passion bubbling beneath the surface throughout. Kellan is a swoonworthy leading man- sweet, smart, loving and gorgeous. Charli is a quick thinking, tough cookie and earns every bit of respect that is owed her. Trapped is a metaphoric title in so many ways as the dual perspective, past/ present story kept revealing all their hidden truths. Kristina Beck is writing the kind of stories you just don't want to put down until they're completely finished. Trapped had all the romance and heat I hoped to find and the some, along with an intricately woven story that held my interest all the way through. I basically devoured this in one sitting and was thrilled to be given an early copy to read and review.
This book is full of emotions from the start. Kellan and Charli have known each other a very long time, but have been more standoffish with each other more than anything. I loved that bit of history, the connection they had, with him having worked for her dad it added to their story. There are moments of heartbreak, moments of anger, but mixed perfectly with the sweetness, and of course... heat! I loved their journey, I loved how strong Charli is, handling the things that are thrown her way. It all works well, the story flows, had me completely involved and loving it!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I want me a HERO! Kristina is one of my go-to authors when I'm looking for Sizzling Contemporary Romance. This may be a slow-burn but the intense attraction makes it super steamy that you cannot tell its slow. I was immediately drawn to Kellan and his intense gazes towards Charli and his self-control! I will say the beginning draws you in and gets your heart racing with anxiety and emotion. You will definitely experience all the “FEELS” in this book. Well worth the ONE-CLICK!
Really sweet, kind of second chance romance. Charlie is hoping for a change of pace. She gets it in the worst possible way. She returns to her home town and sees Kellan, a guy she always had a crush on, but he was gruff and indifferent. Little did she know he had his reasons, but the reasons don't apply anymore. The writing is awesome and I loved the characters. I don't really understand Kellan keeping it a secret that he was at the accident and I don't understand Charli's reaction to Kellan not telling her about the accident. It seems like a small thing in grand scheme of things. However, I've never been in that situation so I can't say how I would react. I really enjoyed reading this as I enjoy all Kristina Beck's books. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book
I love everything about Kristina Beck’s new book, “Trapped”! I was hooked on the storyline from the first page and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed the slow burn between Charli and Kellen. Since they already had a history it was interesting to see how long it took for them to admit their feelings for each other, which made their romance that much sweeter. The friendship Charli and Kellen had in the past was the foundation they needed to realize that their love had always been there. Kellen had admired and looked up to Charli’s father and he owed him for giving him a chance, which ultimately bonded him with Charli forever.
The chemistry between Charli and Kellen was off the charts. Their story is filled with romance, tears, laughter and the promise of a bright future together. I liked that Kellen loved the baby and how they naturally formed a family. I kept waiting for Kellen to admit to Charli that he was at the scene of the accident and I am sure she wouldn't like that he withheld this information from her.
How will Charli react to the secret that Kellen had been keeping from her? Will she be able to trust him? And how will this affect their lives going forward?
7% into this book, I cried twice . . . . and I'm not a big crier. The way the accident is described you feel like you're right there, and all the emotions that everyone is feeling and going through, just . . . have your kleenex handy! Charli and Kellan's story will hit you in all the feels!!! It was so good, with some great characters, and one that you want to throat punch every time he pops up.
From the first page, this book felt familiar and comfortable. By the time I reached the second chapter, I was hooked and could not put it down till I finished. Kellan and Charli feel like people I know and love. The ups and downs they experience take you on a wild ride full of passion and adoration. My only wish is that I could read it again for the first time. A 5 star review is hard to justify but this book made me so happy and excited that it got me out of my reading rut and kick-started my favorite obsession once again. Couldn't be more grateful or give it higher praise. Pick it up, you won't regret it!
This book was absolutely amazing! Kristina Beck knows how to pull you in and you won’t stop until your finished. You will be taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions with this one. Kellan and Charli have led separate lives but will always be connected. Will one selfish wish be Charli’s punishment or her salvation. Will they get their happy ever after? You will have to pick this one up to find out.
I always enjoy reading Kristina Beck's stories - they're gritty contemporary romances that hit all your emotions! This one starts with a shocking event that has repercussions on all the characters' lives.
Charli is an interior designer who has a successful TV show. Kellan used to work for her father, and took over the business when his boss died. Both have led separate lives until that fateful day. But both are filled with guilt over what happened, and find it hard to talk about their feelings. Will love win through?
Kristina Beck writes books that leave you emotionally battered, yet uplifted, and hopeful about life and love. She's not afraid to tackle tough topics, but does so in a sensitive way that keeps you turning the pages. Each character has a journey to make before finding true love, and you are drawn into the story with every revelation and twist, on tenterhooks right up to the end. Highly recommend!
Trapped is a slow burn, insta love story. Kellan is Charli's fathers business partner and Charli was smitten since a teen. I was hooked from the first chapter. You will go through all kinds of ups and downs with Charli and Kellan. This story will take you through a roller coaster ride of emotions. You will be emotionally battered, but in a hopeful way. The chemistry between these characters is off the charts H.O.T. And that little girl is going to steal the heart right from your chest. Be sure to grab the tissues for this one, but it will be so worth it.
Slow burn, small town romance. The story will captivate you from page one. The sparks between the characters is like watching a sparkler burn on the 4th of july. Noelle is going to steal your heart & leave you with a smile on your face. Dara will be the sister you wish you had .
I had a wonderful opportunity to read TRAPPED - the newest book from Kristina Beck. It was such an emotional read, right from the outset, and as the book progressed it did not change till the last words. Trapped is a book of human strength, will to survive, loyalty, family ties that can overcome anything, even the apparent lack of bond between the people, love, patience, support and comfort. About life and death intermingling and coming in sequences. Like certain facts must happen so that other could have their chance to occur. Despite so many emotional and dramatic moments in the book, I found it so much uplifting and comforting, so positive. Charli and Kellan are so likeable - both from the very beginning of the story and in retrospective moments, that you come to love them immediately. They are true "everyday heroes", as the title of the series says. For me the book has another "everyday hero", a side character, who is yet so important to all the protagonists. This person is Tricia, who seemes to have suffered so much in her lifetime and yet she continues to be there for her loved ones. Thank you, Kristina Beck, for an opportunity to read the ARC.
This is a great addition to this amazing series and is Charli and Kellan’s story. Kellan is Charli’s father bodyguard, and she has always had a crush on him, but knew her feeling were not reciprocated. Due to an accident Charli finds herself as single parent to a 6-month-old little baby girl, and she has no clue how to take care of her. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and undeniable, but Kellan is keeping a secret from Charli, so what will happen when she finds out? This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, which pulls at the heartstrings, and is an intense slow burn romance story, with secrets, passion, emotions, family, and love, which leads to a steamy and entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Kellan had hidden his feelings for Charli since he was eighteen because of their age difference and out of respect for her father. Returning home for Thanksgiving, tragedy strikes Charlie’s family which turns her world upside down. This was a great story of Kellan and Charli reconnecting and finally revealing the feelings they have each hid from each other. This was a great addition to the Everyday Heroes World. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Kellen has loved Charli for almost 20 years but she was too young when they first met. Then life got in their way. Now she is older and back in town, so he’s going to keep his promise and tell her how he feels. Charli’s life is out of control, and now she’s a single mom. But Kellen is offering her his love, something she has only dreamed of. But there is so much in their way, her fiancé, her guilt, Noelle and his secret.
Color me intrigued with this story. It had suspense and some mystery with secrets thrown in that had me on edge. Then the electric chemistry between Charli and Kellan and I was hooked. I literally stayed up late to finish because I could not let this go.
4 stars for Trapped (Everyday Heroes World). When the odds always seem to be against them, somehow, Charlie and Kellan finally find their way to each other.
