Okay, now this is just getting scary. Knives has imprisoned Vash, and now he's going around gathering plants. By plants, I don't mean green things growing out of the ground, but instead those angelic, humanoid, power plant beings that make it possible for humans to live on the planet Gunsmoke. Vash and Knives are themselves a form of plant, and have the same power, but what will knives do with this huge power supply? Meanwhile, things are looking pretty tough for Wolfwood. And speaking of Nick, this volume contains a special spin-off chapter based on our favorite preacher slash gunslinger. Learn a little more about the man in the suit with the confessional helmet!
"Only the victims of violence can describe its essence. Only those who have suffered can spit out words of truth that will stop the fighting."
This volume was by far my favorite of the series. Not only it pictures perfectly the never ending circle and hatred and violence but it shows Vash in a very different way than his usual gentle and easy-going tone. This quote did not fail in making me cry.
Vash and Wolfwood relationship did also went one step forward. Wolfwood bet his life on Vash and he will do anything to protect it. The way Vash protected Wolfwood on the ship had me crying not gonna lie.
This series is slowly climbing its way to my top series I’ve read and it never fails to surprise me with each volume that I read.
“i beg you… the young ones… all i wanted was to save them… god… oh my lord… can murderers… …only be murderers…? are you saying i cannot be forgiven for my past? am i… …wrong?
you are not wrong… wolfwood!!
sp- spikey… if you’re awake… …get to it idiot… […] don’t worry. i won’t die yet. i still have lots to do.
…… wolfwood… i’ve had to apologize to you so many times.”
im going insane does anyone want anything
“you know… that man… …bet his life on me. he feared death twice as much as others… …and dis his best to hold on to life. you really think i care whether i can win or not? he is reason enough for me to fight. here i go.”
INSANITY.
“he’s lost a lot of blood… his organs are riddled with bullets. *this must be it…*
Welp. This one was A Lot. Poor Vash. But it had some absolutely banger scenes and at least we get that couple panels where he's wrapped in a huge blanket and has slippers on his feet. Boy needs a break :(
Hmm... I was pretty lost at the beginning of the book. I'm not entirely sure what Knives is doing. But, Wolfwood's mysterious identity was finally revealed! I also really loved the Wolfwood spin-off at the end!
More mysteries abound I'm sure as I venture into volume 9!
Knives get crazier, and starts to have flashbacks/memories from all these plants he's fusing with. We also get some insight into the Eye of Micheal and an awesome Wolfwood spin-off! Loved this volume : )
In this volume we learn more about Wolfwood's background, and how he is tied into this whole mess. Knives is getting crazier and more powerful. Vash may be our only hope for the survival of the human race.
