I made a promise to take care of my best friend's daughter, but I didn't expect to fall so hard for her hot firefighter twin brother. We used to be best friends, and now we can't stand each other. But just as I was getting comfortable, my ex boyfriend shows up and proposes out of the blue.

I thought I had it all figured out— interviews lined up at prestigious med schools, living in sunny Miami, and dating a hot surgeon. Then my life turned upside down. When cancer ravishes my best friend Emily, her seven-year-old daughter, Piper, becomes an orphan. I know Emily’s conservative parents would raise the child if I asked, but that’s not what Emily would’ve wanted.

However, honoring my deceased friend’s last wish means moving to Seattle to co-parent with her twin brother, Nick, and giving up the life I worked so hard for. How can I do that? Especially after Nick broke my heart many years ago when he disappeared from my life.

Despite my reservations, I know I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t follow Emily’s wishes. Packing my suitcases, I move to Seattle to help Emily’s daughter process the loss of her mother. Within days, the little girl has wrapped me around her finger and Nick, too, is tugging at my heartstrings. Handsome and funny, sparks fly between Nick and me, making me question my long-distance relationship.

Just as things between Nick and me start heating up, my ex-boyfriend surprises me with a visit, asking me to marry him and return to Miami. The time to decide has come. Do I go back to my old life, or do I fight for the new life I’ve been building with Nick and Piper?

“Saving Nick” is a steamy first-responder love story with a hero and the book first in the "Heroes with Badges" series. If the thought of a strong, deep and muscular firefighter gets your going, you'll love this book. As always, it’s a full length novel with no cheating, no cliffhanger, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after.

I wanted to like this, I really did. I just felt like there was no real chemistry between Sam and Nick. They were immature and unlikeable, they constantly argued infront of Piper and even played drinking games while she slept. By the time Sam got physically violent towards Nick, I'd had enough!

This could have been a really good story, its well written, and I wouldn't rule out reading anything else from this author, as long as her characters are a little more likeable.

This book is absolutely phenomenal and I loved it! A story of love, loss and finally getting to have the person you have a crush on, it is well worth reading! A sad start to the story, Sam's best friend and Nick's twin sister Em, passes away, leaving her 7 year old daughter Piper behind. It is her wish that Nick and Sam raise her together and in the end, they agree. Their first hurdle, Nick lives in Seattle and Sam lives in Miami. Per Piper's wish, Sam picks up and moves to Seattle leaving her job and boyfriend behind. Soon, she's learning things about Nick she never knew, things that happened since he left when they were 18 leaving her behind. Before they know it, the attraction between the two is bringing them closer but things aren't as easy as they seem. Sam's boyfriend will break up with her over the phone and it will change the way she and Nick interact. A visit from a friend will cheer Sam up but won't make her see the truth. Richard will show up unannounced, begging Sam to take him back. At first, she doesn't want to but he dangles Yale Medical School in front of her. He also calls Em's lawyer who informs Nick and Sam that they need not live together to raise Piper. Sam will make the decision to return to Miami but won't tell Nick. A friend of Sam's from Miami will reach out to Nick to light the fire under him that will send him to the airport to stop Sam from leaving. Sam will realize what she truly wants just in time to get off the plane. This will lead to them getting notes from Em that Piper has been holding for them and it will start them on the journey to their happily ever after.

This is the first book in the Heroes with Badges series. Holy Smokes! This book takes your emotions on a real ride. Tears, laughter, frustration, anger, sadness it has it all. Sam and Nick frustrated me throughout the whole book. There were times when I wanted to smack both of them and tell them to get their acts together. Props to the author for not only causing me to tear up but for bringing out my violent side. :) I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Nick, Emily and Sam were best friends in school but when Nick left Miami for Seattle Sam saw it as him leaving her and she cut ties with him. Emily is Nick’s twin sister. She got pregnant at 19 and Sam was by her side to support her because Nick was already on the other side of the US by this time. They haven’t seen each other in years but are now face to face because Emily is dying, and she wants them to share custody of her daughter Piper to keep her away from Nick and Emily’s parents who are cold, unloving and undeserving of raising their granddaughter. Sam uproots her life to move to Seattle to help Nick raise Piper. Now they’re forced to live together and work through their past hurts and feelings together which I think was one of the reasons she wanted them both to have custody of Piper. Sam starts to realize that Nick isn’t the lazy good for nothing jerk she once thought he was. She’s made some very nasty snap judgements about him over the years. Can they work through their pain and issues to find happiness?

Samantha Carson had everything going for her until her best friend succumbed to cancer, leaving a 7-year-old daughter, Piper, behind. Emily had wanted Samantha to take care of her little girl and to co-parent her with Emily’s twin brother, Nick. Samantha and Nick had known each other in Miami, but when he left for Seattle, she thought he had abandoned her and they had not spoken again. Now she would have to move to Seattle and be under the same roof with Nick as they raised Piper. Can they let go of the past and work together to be good parents for Piper? Can they let themselves show their feelings this time as living together gives them a better understanding of previous misconceptions? Can all those emotions and painful memories be turned to something good as they learn to rely on each other? And will she let the reappearance of her ex-boyfriend draw her back to Miami?

This was a real emotional roller coaster that will truly touch your heart. Piper is a darling and easy to love. And Nick and Samantha are discovering that their anger and blame from the past may have been in error. They are at a point where a new start and something wonderful may be possible, when a third party enters the scene and may tear it all apart. Grab your copy and see how the story resolves and whether Nick and Samantha will decide their relationship is strong enough to stay together and make a real family.

Another great story from this hugely talented author...
The blurb & previous reviews have outlined the story itself so I won't go into that. What i will share are my feelings in general...I enjoyed the fact that there were a couple of characters I disliked intensely - 1. the undoubtedly brilliant surgeon but he was an arrogant, pompous, selfish man who was too controlling; 2. the mother from hell of the twins, words fail me but I felt like putting her out of everyone's misery. The heroine was a kind & caring friend, especially in the last days of her best friend. Outside of her work where she was likely to become a skilled surgeon she was a bit weak at times & I really wanted to give her a good talking to. She consistently got in her own way & the fact that her best friends' twin brother left his hometown many years ago kept playing on repeat in her head while she fought the fact that she'd always been more than attracted to him. Did she want a life with the surgeon or the hot as sin firefighter twin of her deceased best friend who had joint custody with her of his twins' adorable young daughter. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

A beautiful refreshing love story, with amazing characters, a rich Italian man, a beautiful woman, her loving parents, his (unreasonable and interfering father) parents, and a sleazy real estate agent. Off to a rocky start when anger and disbelief rears it’s ugly head, however that quickly change as they each apologize and start over. Just as their feelings and love starts to grow, tragedy strikes, and once again betrayal, anguish, and misunderstanding take over. Can they reach an acceptable understanding, a second chance? You feel their emotions of hope, trust, and love grow and then doubts and heartbreak enter. Lots of suspense and surprises await! Loved this story and the characters, you get so caught up in their story, you feel like you are part of the family! The ending is awesome!

Nick and Sam have known each other their whole lives and were close at one time, until he left for Seattle. His twin, Emily, is a best friend of Sam and she dies of cancer, leaving her daughter to Nick and Sam to raise in Seattle. Sam moves to Seattle at the request of the will and things start to go crazy after that. The characters are so real, with deep emotions and backstories. The bonding between the three works at you until a surprise someone shows up to ruin it all. The two keep working at the relationship until final decisions are made. You will cry and smile a lot as it is an emotional rollercoaster ride.

Great I hate/love her/him romance. Nick and Sam have this love/hate relationship that started when they first became friends as teenagers when Emily, Nick's twin sister was alive. Sam has always had a crush on Nick but never let him know. When Emily dies, all the feelings Nick has hidden about Sam come to the surface. When they have to live together following Emily's death to care for Pipe things get dicey. These two frustrated me so much but it was interesting to see how they evolve throughout the story. Great start to a promising series and can't wait to see what book comes next.

Samantha Carson had her life all planned out until she looses her best friend. She has now left Miami, living with her deceased friends brother, Nick, and caring for her godchild Piper. A child that her and Nick must raise together, even though she hates Nick. This story was so emotional, and one of loss, and love. It flows well, it’s beautifully written, and with strong likable characters. An great emotional story and one I enjoyed from beginning to end.

“The best laid plans of mice and men...” certainly describes Sam’s life when her best friend is dying and her request is that Sam live with her twin brother and care for her daughter. Sam felt like Nick had abandoned her when he left her years earlier. So many descriptions of this read and the exact genre it belongs to cannot be pinpointed. This book grabs you from the start and the roller coaster of emotions are not limited to grief, despair, angst, anger, feelings of abandonment, and most importantly, love. You will be well pleased with this book, don’t miss it!

Wow! This was such an emotionally charged novel. There was so much sadness and angst, and yet some very uplifting moments. Sam and Nick had such great chemistry together and their interactions were both stormy and steamy hot. The one I feel most for is Piper. This story is so worth reading as it delves into the emotional aftermath of losing someone you love but yet finding a glimmer of hope.

An enthralling book two in the Heroes with Badges series. It is a well written, fast pace, and inspiring emotional roller coaster guaranteed to tug on your heart strings and pull you in. So much to look forward to – a well-developed consistent plot, sacrifices, hard decisions, growing pains, and more. The characters are likeable, a bit immature (Sam), but are what each other needs to heal; the chemistry between them is intense.

This book was absolutely great but its filled with with Heartbreak and starting to raise above it . Nick's twin sister Emily has cancer and dying her request is that nick and her best friend Samantha raise her daughter Piper together, but the thing is neither one can get along or will it make raising her together worse? I loved this book.

Hate to Love.

There’s some serious emotional impact in this story- I mean, the first chapter is told by the terminally ill sister/friend (talk about heavy). The hatred between Sam and Nick is so palpable, so visceral, that you just know that that level of emotion isn’t just hate, it’s some serious sexual chemistry and intense emotion. I started this book with tears and I ended it with (happy) tears, and it’s an emotional wringer (but a good wringer) all the way through.

Someone call 911 and bring the tissues. This was an emotional story when Sam loses her best friend to cancer. She goes to take care of the endearing seven year old daughter , Piper, with her besties brother.
The feels in this story are bountiful. Piper steals everyone’s heart. This is a great story of second chances, sacrifice and healing.

'It was her 'Be careful or I'll shank you' face'

Can Sam, Nick and Piper support each other through their grief and build something else, something more...a family?
Did Emily know something that Sam and Nick didn't? The avalanche of emotions they have to process has you wondering if she had got it right or had she misjudged everything?
A heart wrenching and emotional but gripping book which I read on Kindle Unlimited.

This story had great potential but it was DNF for me. Both main characters were incredibly immature, going out of dates/almost hooking up with others to hurt each other. For two people who are adults, have a long history of being friends and who are now guardians of a little girl they had a lot of growing up to do. The heroine keep questioning whether she wanted to care for the little girl of her BEST friend! I felt like she lacked many things I like in my heroines.

I love this type of story where two people have to come together for the sake of a child and him/or her together. It's exciting to see how everything will turn out when you read a story. Miami and Seattle are worlds apart. When the little girl wraps them around her finder can they all stay together or will her ex's unexpected visit change things. HEA

What an incredible story. While it may have been an enimies to lovers romance it was still very enduring. Such a roller-coaster of emotions. So much pain and sadness, but on the flip side, there was a veil of happiness that always emerged at just the right time to help ease the hurt you could feel pouring from the pages.

It was an interesting premise however it felt very unrealistic which made it difficult to invest in any of the characters. Also Sam, one of the main characters was so frustrating and deliberately obtuse that I couldn't enjoy it at all.

Sam and Nick are definitely gonna drive you up the wall!

I won't give details away regarding the main storyline, but I will pass on a heads up, your going to need tissues for the last chapter and epilogue!
That Emily was a sneaky one, Piper is definitely her mother's daughter 😉😉
