I think this one was one of those:

This book started out sooo good. All this crazy stuff happens (I won't ruin it) in the first couple chapters. I was immediately like...YES!...this is gonna be awesome. But unfortunately, it fell flat for me after that. The "dynasty" I just didn't quite get. It seemed a little like a cult. A big family leading its minions. Having meetings, planning, in a compound where they all live together. But I never got the point of the dynasty, who they were, or their mission. There had to be a bigger reason for everything that happened at the beginning. I kept waiting for a twist or surprise.
Secondly, the heroine bugged the crap out of me. In one moment she was a strong, smart woman who just had to come into her role as a leader. In the next, she was shaking and nearly fainting, and needing to be carried out of a party because a "scary" man talked to her.
I wanted to love this but I just didn't get there with the characters. Was it the story? Was it my mood? Who knows?

𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 by debut author Ashley Samuels is the first book in the 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. It is an action packed, somewhat suspenseful romance novel with secret society elements. I’m glad I finally read this and I can’t believe it took me this long.
I feel that as a debut author, Ashley Samuels did an excellent job at narrating this plot. I adore third person POV. I am one of the apparently rare readers out there that PREFER third person POVs as opposed to first. I find that it allows you to see the overall bigger picture in a way you wouldn’t if only seeing it through one- or two-people’s eyes. With suspense novels specifically, I find third person POV works best.
If you like twists, action scenes, and want to read a story about a young woman navigating her way through a new world she just discovered, this book is for you. It gives off somewhat of a Hunger Games vibe to me. Throughout several scenes including the relationship between our MC’s Kat and Shayne, I felt that Hunger Games energy which I loved.
Kat is a normal young woman attending college with a boyfriend who’s sweet to her, two parents that love her. Right away we are thrown into the chaos of high-speed chases, car crashes and tragedy. Kat is now an orphan and has people chasing her with no idea why. All of those questions are explained very early on which is a relief because I’m not a huge fan of waiting until the end of a novel to find things out in a novel.
Kat suddenly reconnects with an old friend who introduces her to a new world she had no idea existed and five brothers, four of whom she’s never met. Welcome to the 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆. Kat’s new reality and life’s purpose. Kat is new to the Dynasty and it isn’t easy for her as she’s coping with loss and also hiding from mysterious strangers who are for some reason targeting her.
When Kat meets Shayne, there’s a connection. Kat is extremely mature in the way she confronts Shayne about her feelings as well as how she handled the entire situation. I know that I wouldn’t be as brave or sane if I lost my parents and boyfriend that way. The way she looks at the world is something to aspire to as moving on is the way of life.
The relationship between Kat and Shayne starts off angsty. I would have liked a little more push and pull or drama between them. While this is a romance novel, there is less romance and more discovering who you are and growing stronger as a person. Don’t get me wrong, Shayne is boyfriend goals. I would have liked more passion and descriptive sex scenes between them. I have a hard time connecting with characters when I am not able to read at least a few sex scenes. There is still book two which a lot can happen in so all of this may occur in the second book.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. Even though I don’t know her personally I feel proud of Ashley Samuels for writing this debut novel as well as a second one, Dynasty Pursuit. I believe there will also be a third novel.

This book throws you into the action immediately and blasts you into a world you will not want to leave! I could not put this book down and I did not want this book to end. I'm so happy that Kat's story isn't over yet, we're just getting started since this is the beginning of a series! The story was intriguing and you get to learn about the Dynasty along with Kat which makes it that much more alluring. It is new and different and I could not get enough. These characters are so well written and you love and feel along with them. I truly loved getting to know them all and their dynamics. I cannot believe this is Ashley's debut novel because the way she writes both the action and romance flows beautifully and I cannot say enough good things about the story! You'll want to jump into the book while reading because Ashley makes you want to be a part of everything. Although the story wraps up nicely by the end, I still have so many questions and I am excited to see what's in store for Kat in Pursuit!

What I loved/liked:
• I loved the story as a whole. It had plenty of suspense and light romance. Overall, it was pleasant to read.
• I fell in love with the relationship between Kat and Shane. As they fell in love, it felt so relatable. Awkward silences, blushed cheeks, etc. It was so sweet! Also, he protected her fiercely when she needed after all she had been through.
What I didn’t love/like:
• I wanted more steamy, descriptive scenes between Shane and Kat. I felt like the author completely disregarded these scenes which is sad considering their falling in love was a major theme of the book. One or two steamy scenes would have only added to the story.

• Kat was a normal, happy high school girl with a boyfriend and two loving parents until one day, it all came crashing down. I really can't believe this is Ashley Samuels debut novel because if her first book is this addicting then I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I was hooked from the first chapter and the book didn't disappoint me as it was filled with romance , suspense and action ( in short full package).
I adored all the characters with Kat being the badass and fierce heroine who didn't take anyone's crap. I loved all the secondary characters and Kat's relationship with her brothers was heartwarming. The review cannot be completed without mentioning Shane because he was a sweetheart.
I am definitely going to read the next book in the series.😍

Wow! I just finished this action suspense debut book! Chapter one starts right off with unexpected action. It continues making you wonder who Kat really is and will make you completely drool for Shane.

A slow developing, deeply narrated book by Ashley Samuels. Gave me the feel of watching a soap! Maybe there will be a series on this book soon.
Even though it was very detailed, I was hooked. The story is weaved around an Elite family, a dynasty essentially. It begins with saving the future matriarch of Hungerford dynasty - Katryn or Kat.
Her bodyguard and boyfriend, Jordan tragically dies while saving her in the very beginning. Setting off a series of attempts on her life. Even her so called parents were a mere front, Julia and Martin. Both her pseudo mom and dad die as well while saving her. She stumbles her way to her secret but real family.
That is where she meets her big brother Brax and other younger brothers. A barrage of bodyguard's that she develops a bond with. Eventually she falls in love again with Shane. The head of security team appointed for Kat that runs a training center. And also happens to be Jordan's elder brother. I loved their sweet story.
Kat is a determined yet fragile little thing thrown amidst the tussle of power. There is another nemesis from rival Mancini Dynasty that makes an appearance towards the end. I am hoping there is more on that in the next book.
I like the character Sam and Shane the most. Maybe I'll catch some more on their background in the subsequent books.
A good read to curl up with your evening tea or midnight snack.

When @ashleysamuelsauthor reached out to me & asked if I would be interested in reading her debut novel, of course I said yes! Y'all know how much I love supporting new, indie authors! Ashley told me she only wrote this book because she was bored during quarantine, so you can imagine how blown away I was when I started reading her story.
Katryn is living her life as a normal college student when her life suddenly turns upside down. She finds herself being hunted down & she's unsure of who or why. After her initial attack, she learns she has an entire family & dynasty she knew nothing about. Discovered follows her journey as she learns about her true identity and all the danger it entails. Plus, she finds love in the process ❤
I love, love, love Kat's story. It always amazes me when authors are able to create a whole world/community/life simply from their imagination. The storyline behind Kat's family is incredibly complex and intriguing. Ashley created numerous important, detailed characters, all of which I fell in love with. I can't wait to read more of their story. This book is definitely a hidden gem that you should read!

From the very start, Kat is thrown into a new world she had no idea even existed, all without warning. In the span of only a couple hours, everyone she ever loved was taken from her and she was introduced to a family of complete strangers and a life that feels out of her control.
When I first started DYNASTY: DISCOVERED I got a paranormalish vibe and it followed all throughout. Even though there was nothing paranormal about the story, the vibe made the whole book seem almost magical in such a brilliant way. It gave off major Mortal Instruments feels. I was addicted to finding out who these people are and what on earth could these bad men want with Kat.
Besides a few editing errors, my main problem was sometimes traversing around UK words and sayings I am not used, too. But it was all on me (😆) and it did not take away from the story.
Fantastic characters, action packed plot, and such an over all great story...this new to me author has quickly became one I want to read more from. Now when do we get that next book?? 😫 4 Stars!!

Wow, this was a fast paced and full of action suspense novel that will suck you in from the beginning
Kat went from living the normal life with her parents and boyfriend to a life full of drama when she discovered that there are men out there who are after her. Now she finds herself living in a compound surrounded by people and brothers that she never knew existed.
But there is still someone out there who wants her and with the help of bodyguards always with her and now her new boyfriend Shane who’s been by her side and would do anything to make her feel safe, she feels protected.However there is a traitor within the compound who’s after her.
I can’t wait to find out what’s next to come

All praise for Ashley Samuels!!
If somebody had told me this was Ashley Samuels debut novel, I would have told them that they were lying!! This story doesn’t read like a debut novel, it reads like the author has been writing and releasing books for years.
I don’t like to give way spoilers, but I do recommend going in blind. It makes the story more exciting, and has you gripped from the very beginning. I intended to read just a chapter between jobs, but I was so enthralled, that I finished the book within one sitting.
The story is intriguing, it’s well written, and it’s captivating from start to finish. I very much look forward to reading more from this author.

Discovered: Book one is the Dynasty series was fast paced, action packed and a great debut novel.
It was full of angst, suspense and drama to keep me on my toes. Throw in the hotness that is the hero shane and I'm in!
Kat was strong willed, fiesty and not afraid to say what she thought. I loved how she put Shane in his place at times and didn't back down when he tried going all alpha male on her. They made a great match.
There wasn't a dull moment for either of them and I'm looking forward to seeing how their relationship grows.

5 stars!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was introduced to her debut novel when Ashley followed me on instagram. I was intrigued when I read the synopsis, so I read the sample on amazon and was hooked and knew I had too read it. With how this series is written I would never have thought this was her debut novel, because it feels like she has been writing and publishing books for years.
This book captivated me from start to finish, one of my favourite things I love about this book is found family and finding her biological family. Kat has lost everything when her boyfriend and parents are killed, with no where else to go and a mysterious group of people following her; she sets out to find the brother she never knew she had.
When she feels like she has lost everything, she actually has found her family.
Character development was really good with all characters and I liked how the story gradually progressed keeping you invested. I also liked how naturally the relationship builded between both Kat and Shane, and how she interacts with the others in the compound.
It would be lovely to see this series become a TV show in the future. This story has everything from found family, drama, romance, action and suspense. This book is guaranteed to get you out of a reading slump, I will definitely be re-reading it in the future.

Story with action, drama, romance & steam! It starts with a bang and keeps giving you more. I love Kat’s strength and resilience. And Shane is a a fun match for her as her head of security. I love all the friendships and the family getting to know each other after so many years and unwinding all the secrets. I have to say, I’m anxious to read book two! Loved this book & definitely recommend!

Ashley is a new author to me, and I jumped at the chance to check out a new series. It has been a while since I have read a book written in the third person, but I was ok with it. I like the build-up and the suspense that kicked up right away in Discovered. At times storyline moved to more of a slow burn, slowly building up and answering unknown questions, but I was invested in the story as Katryn tried to figure out all that was happening in her new reality. Fear not, there was no jaw-dropping cliffhanger, but I do find myself wanting to see where the story goes, and I hope to continue to see Kat grow more into her backbone that she seems to lose from time to time. Overall I liked the book, and I am rating this 4 / 5 stars.

This is the first book in the Dynasty Series by Ashley Samuels. First I want to say- Ashley, you shame the rest of us by being so creative and proactive during the pandemic. All I accomplished was creating a new dent in my sofa.
The action starts right away, Kat is hanging out with her boyfriend at school then bam, they are on the run. Her boyfriend and then her parents are killed while they are trying to flee. Before she is separated from her parents, Kat is given an address and told to go to her brother, that she did not know she had. Kat's entire life as she knew it totally unraveled. No one was what they seemed and everything she knew was a lie.
Without giving away any plot points, the pace of this book really seemed to reflect what was going on in Kat's life. The beginning was fast-paced, confusing, and induced anxiety in the reader. As Kat recovered and began to learn about the new world she was thrust into the pace of the book seemed to level out. When Kat started to become more acclimated to her environment the pace picked up again but did not get to that chaotic confusing place we were in at the beginning of the book. I think that this really helped the reader get into the world, the passage of time in the book seemed more organic. The evolution of the relationships was realistic as well, there was no instalove or immediate family bonding, I really appreciated that.
Overall, this was a great start to a series, I was definitely left wanting more!

If you want to read a romance and action , this is your book. Wow, all this crazy stuff happens in the first couple chapters. It’s just so good.
I love that Kat is a badass and fierce kind of heroine. And Shane ... a tough guy with a soft heart, I loved him from the start.

I can not believe that Ashley is a debut author. This book had me hooked on page 1 which barely happens. Especially with the first book in a series.
The opening was exceptionally powerful and had you questioning everything. Everything that I guessed was wrong, which was ironic in hindsight because of the title.
Who would have thought 21 year old Kat had so much responsibility on her shoulders. After suffering the loss of everyone she knew. Shane was such an amazing male lead. I loved him immediately and shipped him and Kat when I finally realised they weren't related. As that confused me 😅 I honestly thought Jordan and Shane were her brothers along with Brax, Connor, Dean, James and Will. But that got cleared up pretty quickly.
I do wish we had more interaction between Kat and her brothers. I feel like James, Will and Dean fell into the background. So I hope we will get to see more of them as the series continues.
Overall I loved the whole book and how you're consistantly asking questions on whats going on. I can't wait to see Kat come more into her role within the Dynasty as well as her relationship with Shane develop. I highly recommend this book to the people who love romance, suspence and action. This book truly has it all!
The opening was exceptionally powerful and had you questioning everything. Everything that I guessed was wrong, which was ironic in hindsight because of the title.
Who would have thought 21 year old Kat had so much responsibility on her shoulders. After suffering the loss of everyone she knew. Kat is a lovable sassy girl who doesn’t beat around the brush with what she has to say. She is always straight to the point with what’s on her mind and everyone didn’t think she would be the kind hearted girl she is. She is quick witted and had me laughing with her come backs to the guys.
Shane, my sweet loving Shane. You stole my heart at how protective you was with Kat when she arrived, always being their for her when she was hurt. You had me gushing and not just in my heart 😜 You can be my security guard anytime.

Wow. Could not put this down!!
For a first Novel by the author, this book is incredible. Do not be put off because it’s a first novel, you would be seriously missing out. It has everything you want from a book, from drama and suspense (that literally starts immediately!) to romance and comedy throughout.
The characters in this book are relatable, consistent and each have a personality to give to the reader. Within the first few chapters my heart opened to the main male character, and boy did that space in my heart grow. I wanted a bit more out of the love scenes, but that’s my personal opinion and it completely depends how steamy you like your books. It definitely makes up for it with the romance side, and I absolutely can NOT wait to have more of Kat & Shane.
The book is a good length, has a consistent story line that plays out very well and in great time - for me there’s nothing worse that a never ending rollercoaster to get to the end that isn’t even worth the ride. This book keeps you in and puts you inside that world, a world of seriously hot men, money and power 😍
This is book 1 of a series - a series that I highly suspect will gain a great following!!! I also love the secondary characters that much that they could have their own stories!!! Especially Brax and Alex! 😍

WOW ... what a poweful opening chapter, my heart friggin broke twice in a matter of minutes and brought me to tears. I've never read such a captivating opening to a book!
I thouroughly enjoyed this authors debut novel, what's not to love, it’s full of suspense, action, romance and lots of drama, which made for a thrilling and rivertting read! When Kat discovers she is apart of a large family and is part of a dynasty. Her life is thrown upside down and ultimately her life being in danger. BUT with 5 brothers and specifically Brax makes all the necessary measures to ensure her life is safe!
Kat is a sassy, loyal, fierce who tells you straight kinda girl and GURL, her straight talkingness is a breath of fresh air and not your typical badassary female lead. Her one liners are friggin brilliant & had me laughing with tears in my eyes! KAT IS MY KINDA GURL & i adore her!

I can’t believe this is Ashley’s debut novel! I was hooked from the first chapter, it was so nice reading about such a strong female character who just said everything how it is and took no crap from anyone. From the first page there is so much drama and suspense and then followed by comedy and romance throughout.
I loved the characters she created (Sam😍), the romance between them and the friendships she created. Where can I get a friend like Alex?! And a guy like Shane or Brax too?? I absolutely loved how protective and thoughtful Shane was with Kat and I can’t wait to read more about them in the next book, hopefully we get to read more about Kat’s brothers too. Dynasty: Discovered was recommended by a friend. I am genuinely so happy that I listened and read through! As a debut novel, I am honestly blown away! What a group of amazing and strong characters! At first I wasn’t sure what to expect and to be honest, it took me a few chapters to really become super committed, but once I got into the story, it was so great!
I fell in love with Shane, Kat, Sam, Brax and Alex immediately and was sad when I had reached the end. I am so excited to dive into the next book!

Wow what can I say?! From chapter one this book started off with action, drama and angst, no tip toeing around just dive straight in! And I floved it! I loved following all the characters and how they developed. I do prefer my romance scenes with a bit more steam but that is just my preference and it doesn't detract from the story at all. I can't believe that it is Ashley's first book, it is very well written. It has left me wanting more and I can't wait to read book #2 to see what happens! ❤️
