The last thing I expected on the first day of my dog sitting job was a middle-of-the-night fire alarm.
Things go from chaotic to scorching hot when I run into my old crush, Miles Thatcher, on my way out of the building.
Talk about disastrous timing. I haven’t seen him in years – five to be exact. Since the day we buried his sister – my best friend. That was both the best and worst day of my life. It was also the day Miles kissed me – and promptly forgot about me.
Some things never change. He still has no clue who I am.
Miles is no longer the boy I fell in love with.
Now he’s just a stuck-up big shot with a big bank account and bigger ego.
I wish I didn’t still have feelings for him but seeing him again only makes me want him more.
If only Miles would finally ‘see’ me.
A lot can happen over five years, but time hasn’t erased the guilt he carries.
Underneath his fancy façade is a man who can’t get over the grief of losing his baby sister... or the regret of not being able to prevent it.

There’s nothing I like more than a cover that fits a story. Make that happen and you’re already #winning and halfway to a 5-star read. LOOK AT THIS COVER *yum*
This story was ridiculously entertaining while still delivering an emotional punch. It was the best of both worlds. I didn’t find it too this or that, just a perfect mix. Miles and Sutton both were great characters I saw myself friending. Their story was realistic and relatable, and I was rooting for them both from the moment go!
Sierra Hill is technically not a new-to-me author, but when you’ve gone almost 5 years between books, it feels like you’re reading the author for the first time and it was fantastic! I once again, spent a stupid amount of money of her backlist as soon as I was finished!
Another great read in the Cocky Hero Club. Loved Miles and Sutton. Their story will suck you in from page one. Sutton has had a crush on Miles for the longest time and they even shared a kiss which he promptly forgot. They don’t see each other again until a fire alarm goes off and she is thrust out into the night with him. Too bad, he still doesn’t remember her, he knows that she is familiar but that is it. They both share a huge loss in their lives when his sister and her best friend died. Can she help him heal from the loss of his sister and find love? Loved this read and I can’t wait to read more from this author. Love her work.
Unrequited childhood crush on your best friend’s older brother...my inner tween squealed, sighed, and fanned herself before falling onto the perfectly placed chaise lounge in a room that lloks like it's right out of 13 Going on 30. Should I be ashamed?!? I'm not.
Stuck-Up Big Shot is like a do-over for every unrequited crush out there. It's not pretty. It's not a newly paved road. There are bumps, cracks, and plenty of potholes and it's still a trip I would take again and again.
Sierra Hill offers up a do-over. A second chance for the one who never noticed you... I never had an unrequited situation like this but my empathetic heart feels it just the same. Stuck-Up Big Shot is a hot mess. No,not Sutton, though she seems to find trouble everywhere. No, Mr. Big Shot himself, Miles, is a complicated mess. And this mess only gets messier before it gets better.
My first read by the author and I enjoyed Sutton and Miles’s story.
Miles is one sad character, just because he is a grieving man who still hold on to the burden of losing his sister. Sutton and Miles reconnected but he does not remember her one bit. It's different for Sutton though because she has a crush of Miles since forever. This might be a sign for them to get over their loss together and help each other through it. However, Miles is just too oblivious to his feelings for Sutton.
It was a good read, little drama and it has more depth than one would thought.
Stuck-Up Big Shot is a book that had me conflicted. On the one hand, the story contains an important message. On the other hand, even though I understood the reasons behind the male lead’s behaviour, I found myself unable to fall for him.
I think this is very much one of those cases where the issue is my view when it comes to male leads. The more I read, the less I enjoy a-hole heroes. Even when there is a reason behind their behaviour, even when redemption is earned, I just cannot get behind them. I much prefer cinnamon roll heroes and find there are far too many a-holes heroes out there for me. I feel like they’re doing too much damage to self-worth, and they are not for me.
Of course, those who enjoy a-hole heroes are sure to enjoy this one. Things ended a bit quickly, but there was enough packed into it to keep you turning the pages.
I really enjoyed this book. This was nothing that I expected. It's the childhood crush on the best friend's older brother with a mix of unrequited love romance and I'm a sucker.
This will get you in the feels and fill your heart with warmth. It's sweet and sexy with a little bit of angst and sorrow. There's a broody alpha and an inexperienced woman that make for intense moments.
OMG THE FEELS! This book will hit you so hard with the full range of emotions that are thrown at you by this author. The connection of this book with the Cockyverse was brilliant! The flow of the story, the concept, the push and pull, just everything had me devouring this installment and I couldn’t get enough. The way that Miles and Sutton were connected to each other is so heartbreaking. But the fact he doesn’t recognize her was even more so to me. But that connection that these two have is just one of those once in a lifetime type that you do not want to let go. Even when things implode, there was just something about how they let it play out, felt so natural. As a whole, I felt this book hit all the notes for me. There was pain and heartache, there was passion and sizzle and there was such epic banter that will have you giggling at moments and wanting to cry the next. There is so much emotion into this story that you cannot help but fall in love with these characters!
Stuck-Up Big shot by Sierra Hill a five-star read that will get you stuck between the pages. This one has it all, a great second chance, a cute pooch and a big shot who isn’t as stuck up as he first appears. This was one of those stories that suck you in, and stick you between the pages, make you feel the loss and pain. On the flip side, it also makes you feel the love, the passion and the drama. I adore the way Sierra Hill writes funny, flirty and filthy in the right ways, they complement the story, not overpower it.
Sutton takes a job dog sitting for Graham and Soraya and living in their apartment while they are gone. She can't believe their next door neighbor is her best friends brother who she had a huge crush on. Her best friend that died. And now he doesn't recognize her. And she doesn't tell him how they know each other either. So they they keep running into each other and Miles kept being a complete jerk, but she keeps hoping he will be the guy that she fell inlove with😊
I loved the banter between these two. And even though you get the sense Miles is still cut up about his sister's death, you also get the sense that he needed Sutton in his life. She was funny and so accident prone that it was hilarious. Definitely a good addition to the Cocky Hero Club
Omg, LOVED LOVED LOVED this story. I love the my-best-friends-older-brother stories, but this had such a great added bonus, their connection. With out giving anything away, they have a connection that only them 2 can relate to. Also, the fact they haven't seen each other in years, makes their sexy angst even more powerful. The chemistry between Miles and Sutton is swoony, HOT and sweet all at the same time. I love how Sutton is strong, sweet, positive and a little bit of a fire cracker. Miles is THE stuck up big shot, but with Sutton she sees the real Miles and brings him down a notch. I really liked that there was that connection to the Stuck Up Suit (by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward), how Sierra brought in those characters, was perfect. But you don't have to know that story to be able to read this one. I highly recommend Stuck-Up Big Shot, it is definitely a must read.
Another great addition to the Cocky Hero club and another talented new author for me to follow, this is the first book I have read by Sierra Hill but it won’t be the last. Miles and Sutton’s journey captivated and had me totally invested in their second chance romance. Miles was Sutton’s best friends brother and she has known him most of her life but when his sister died so did the friendship and unfortunately coming face to face with her only brings back memories of his sister....so can Sutton and Miles move on or will the memories to be too much to bare.... This story is at times dark but it’s also about hope and light at the end of the tunnel, it’s about putting the past behind you, without forgetting and moving on with the happy memories but most importantly this book is about love and taking a chance that this time around it will be forever. This book touched me on many levels, it’s a beautifully written story that I’m sure will touch many readers, it’s a great addition to the world of Cocky Hero’s and it was great to catch up with Graham and Soraya as well as meeting the new loveable characters from Stuck-Up Big Shot.
Who knew dog-sitting would be so exciting? A fire alarm, and a meeting with someone from her past brings up old feelings. Feelings of attraction woven with ribbons of grief that Miles and Sutton will have to find their way through if there's a chance of something beautiful happening between them.
Witty dialogue, a sweet and strong heroine who takes no crap, a closed off, damaged hero brought to his knees by love - a tried and true formula that's served well here in Stuck-Up Big Shot, and a wonderful addition to the Cocky Hero Club.

Stuck-Up Big Shot is a Hero Club Novel by Siena Hill that you don't want to miss! It is a heart-rending tale of two intertwined souls who grew up together, shared a horrific tragedy, and then were brought back together by fate. This book will take you down memory lane, back to the days of pre-teen crushes and loss when you are too young to know how to deal with such things. Best friends and sleepovers and dreaming of your first kiss. How life can either make you hollow and bitter, or encourage you to live life with both arms open wide.
Sutton was my girl from the first page. She had a heart the size of the sun and a smile to match. The chances of Miles being her next door neighbor for the month she is apartment and dog sitting for a couple on vacation were practically impossible odds but somehow it happened. What stung was Miles not remembering her or the kiss they shared. His cocky attitude made me want to put him down a peg or two, but that quickly dissipated as more of the past was revealed and I understood the reasons for his behavior.
I loved the slow burn between Sutton and Miles (after he quit acting like a total jerk.) Their chemistry was so hot and palpable and as Miles began to feel more for Sutton and started changing, I was loving him so hard! They were just what each other needed, they had so much shared history and could help heal one another. I only wish we had a little more ending, it felt like it was rushed and we got a HFN. I would love an extended epilogue with a more solidified HEA!
I’m the oldest of my siblings & when I was younger I use to wish I had an older brother so I could date his friends. What’s the next best thing? Your best friend having a hot brother who is 5 years older! Downside, he sees you as a kid, and other than to tease you, he doesn’t pay you any attention.
Miles & Melodie’s father isn’t in the picture, their step-father was a nightmare, so when their mom passes away, they move in with their grandmother, who is Sutton’s neighbor. These 12-year-old girls become inseparable.
When Sutton & Melodie enter high school Miles is already away at college. I get the impression that Melody felt like she was abandoned by her older brother, and without having parents, it weighed on her. This led her down a self-destructive path, that leads to her death in high school.
Fast forward 7 years to a fire alarm causing the building where Sutton is dog sitting to be evacuated, she comes face to face with Miles. Downdiside, he doesn’t recognize her! Sutton feels self-conscience doesn’t tell him who she is.
Their banter getting to know each other as adults, their mutual attraction & frustration gives the reader a lot of laughs, a few tears & some sexy scenes as well. Another well-written book by Sierra who is an artist at making the reader feel emotions.
I liked it, though some aspects bothered me. Mainly the anticlimactic profession of love, and the sudden changes in both Miles and Sutton. But the story of this relationship shadowed by a ghost who at first impedes them, then kind of supports them, was beautiful. A figurative ghost, there’s nothing paranormal here.
I couldn’t really grasp Sutton’s nature. How could she be so independant and resourceful while being a total klutz? It’s like she had to be cute anyway, hence the mishaps. Miles I got better, even though some of his actions took me by surprise. And he must have an early form of his Granny’s dementia, because his memory is lacking. A lot.
Once they become a couple, though, they’re adorable and sexy. The connection is strong and you can’t help but root for them. Not a masterpiece, but quite an enjoyable read anyway.
Quickie
- Series: standalone (but part of the Cocky Hero Club) - Hashtags: #billionaire romance #second chance #best friend’s brother #age gap #playboy - Triggers: mention of substance abuse and overdose, dementia - Main couple: Sutton Fuller & Miles Thatcher - Hotness: 4/5 - Romance: 4/5 - + it was lovely to see the length Miles was ready to go to seduce Sutton - – after so many false starts, I don’t understand how Sutton can still pursue Miles…
This was definitely an emotionally charged story. From the moment Miles was introduced I knew I was either gonna love him or hate him and boy was that the case...I both loved and hated him in equal measure at times! His attitude was off putting but you could also tell he used that attitude as a shield to protect himself. Sutton was the sweet girl next door, younger sister’s best friend, she was off limits and better off ignored. I felt like she got the short end of the stick so many times, it made my heart ache for her. However, her strength and perseverance was humbling to say the least. I loved reading as Miles evolved from the heartless, cocky playboy to the man who owned up to his mistakes. The relationship between Sutton and Miles was a slow build but absolutely fire hot all at the same time. By the time I read the words The End I was head over heels for both Miles and Sutton.
This second chance, best friend's brother romance is one that draws you in with the connection between Miles and Sutton. Their story is packed with emotion and will have you enjoying the push and pull between these two. There is not only heartbreaking moments but we are also surrounded by witty banter and passion. A great addition to the cocky hero world that will have you captivated right to the very end.
I didn't expect this story..I thought it would be light and sexy, but it's also emotional! I love both Sutton and Miles! I love their story and I def want Sutton as a best friend! Love this woman..she is stubborn and def knows what she wants and she is not afraid to show it or work for it! Great story!
Stuck-Up Big Shot by Sierra Hill was so good!! I loved the story of Sutton and Miles. Sutton takes a job dog sitting for Graham and Soraya, and living in their apartment while they are gone. She "meets" their next door neighbor Miles who low and behold she has known for years, and crushed on huge, only he doesn't recognize her, and as hurt as she is she doesn't fill him in on their connection...at least not right away cause she thinks he's a mean jerk, and has changed from the nice guy she used to know. As time goes on Miles and Sutton keep running into each other, and there is so much chemistry between them, and Miles is very attracted to her, and well don't need to tell ya how or what Sutton thinks or feels about Miles. All I'm gonna say now is I am so recommending this awesome book, and you can read it to find out what happens between Miles and Sutton...and will Miles figure out who Sutton is and their connection? You'll love this book as much as I did!! Thank you Sierra for giving us Miles and Sutton!!
Stuck Up Big Shot has a slight Comedy undertone, laced with sadness and regret with smoking hot romance both in the bedroom and out; if you get the balance right as Sierra Hill has then you have yourself a ***** read all the way! Another great addition to the Cocky Hero Family.
Sutton has been in love with her best friend Mel’s brother Miles since she was 12. But with a 5 year age difference they were on different paths. When tragedy strikes just before Mel’s 18th birthday when she dies Sutton and Miles path never crosses again for 7 years. Now while Sutton dog sits her neighbour is non other than Miles only trouble is he doesn’t remember his sister’s best friend. Part of me thinks this is because Miles is still so shock up by Mel’s death and still feeling responsible. I did say there was comedy in this and Sutton is so accident prone you can’t help but laugh out loud at some of the things that happen to her.
Miles and Sutton’s past is now woven into their future but until Miles can face his past they will be no future with Sutton.
This book gave me all the feels and I adored these two together. Miles has this sense of deju vu when he comes face to face with Sutton, the woman who is pet sitting for his next door neighbor and best friend. Sutton can't believe her eyes when an early morning fire alarm produces her childhood crush and best friend's older brother Miles knocking on her door to make sure she gets out of the building. And from this point on the book just keeps getting better and better.
I loved the witty banter and easy between these two, their lives both changed by the death of the his sister and her best friend. Miles is a complete jerk, Sutton still wearing rose colored glasses, hoping he will remember her. This book although it was heavy at times was still a fun read with two characters that I didn't want to see go by the end of the book.
A great edition to the Cocky Hero Club and can't wait for more books in the series.
A-MAZ-ING!!! Holy hotness! I am always a fan of the siblings best friend story... this one packs a punch! I love how confident and feisty Sutton was! I freaking love her! Miles, on the other hand, really threw out some mixed signals! But Sutton was not about to let him get away with it. And I love how there is a lot of reference to fate in this story, because it really does seem like that it what brought them together. I know I will be thinking about this one for a long time to come! Very much a favorite for me!
This book is part of the cocky hero collection. It's a stand alone and is a real second chance, best friends brother romance story. This is Sutton and Miles's story and after not seeing each other for years to come back face to face is a shock.
Sutton is a very beautiful woman that is also very clumsy too. She finds herself dog sitting and after a situation where the fire alarm goes off she can't believe who she sees. Miles is a man that has had a very lot to deal with and at first comes across as a total cocky jerk. But when you get to know him you can see the pain inside his heart. He's been through so much and now his grandmas health and memory is also decling rapidly too. When he bumps into Sutton he doesn't recognise her at first but somehow knows her name sounds familiar. He loves making her feel uncomfortable and the banter between them both is awesome.
This author has written this book that will have your emotions all over the place. This story is filled with heartache, pain, tragedy, hope, love and passion. What Miles went through is gut wrenching and I was really rooting for these two to get there own HEA. They have amazing chemistry and the connection between them is strong. This author has written two great characters. I enjoyed reading this book, the story line flows and you will definitely need to keep the tissues handy too and it also made me laugh at times.
This book is a great addition into this series and I can't wait to read another book from this world and this author.
"Holy smokes. This is so much better than any of the teenage fantasies I ever had of Miles."
5 Up in Flames Stars! This book is every teenage girls fantasies come true!
Sutton is dog sitting for Soraya when she's suddenly woken up by a pounding on the door because there's a fire alarm going off. And when she opens the door, she sees it's her childhood crush Miles. But he has zero clue it's her and he's not quite as nice as he used to be either. After berating her and basically telling her he's going to have her fired, she is determined to change his mind... but can she? ANd will he remember who she is? And will the guilt he carry from his sisters death ever go away?
This book is emotional and heavy at times. It's deeply entertaining on a lot of levels. I read it in one sitting. I'm a big Sierra Hill fan and this book proves why! Just go one click the book and you'll understand why!
Stuck Up Big Shot is one of the stories in the Hero Club series. I loved reading this best friend's brother romance between Sutton and Miles. Although it's seven years after her best and his sister has passed away. I found the story to be entertaining as well as a wonderful book to read. ~Dawn
Miles and Sutton's story has so much emotion in it. They have a shared past but can Miles accept that Sutton isn't leaving. Tears, laughter and steam. This story has it all, as Sutton shows Miles that it is okay to love and maybe their meeting has some divine intervention. Enjoyable read! ~Cindy
"A sweet and sexy second chance romance with the twist, Sutton runs into her past crush Miles, brother of her friend that died tragically. Sutton runs into Miles while on a dog sitting job, he ends up being her next door neighbor.
Sutton and Miles chemistry is amazing, their story will suck you, there are some sweet and really sexy times. They both have to overcome family tragedies that will take you on an emotional roller coaster of emotions. You will be hooked from the first chapter, you will share their grief but rejoice in the love they have for one another. " ~Stephanie
First book by Sierra Hill and she grabbed my heart from the beginning. This story was so full of emotions that you will want to wrap your arms around Miles and Sutton with all the tragedy and feelings they are dealing with. Not only does Sierra Hill pull on your heart strings but she lights it on fire with the steam and chemistry between these two. And the sex scenes, they are smoking!
“Make me remember, Button. Show me how good it felt.” His thumb glides softly over my cheek, and I lean into his touch. “I need that. I need something good in my life now.”
So, if you are looking for a second chance, best friend’s big brother Romance filled from the first chapter with laughs, angst, heart felt emotions and all kinds of sexual tension and steam then grab this book quick because you will not be disappointed!
When your past collides with your present, it can either be a second chance to get things right or a disaster. For Sutton and Miles, their collision is a large amount of both. Sutton has had a crush on Miles for years. The brother of her best friend from childhood who past away, a chance meeting brings her face to face with him... but he doesn't remember her.
This second time around romance is tinged with heartbreak and hope, redemption, and revelations that heal. Stuck-up Big Shot has a real life feel to the progression of Sutton and Mile's romance as it builds through time, has its ups and downs, and even tears. Part of the Cocky Hero Club, this is a nice addition with interesting characters and an engrossing story.
Sutton is a grad student who takes a job dog sitting for a month. Imagine her surprise when her neighbor is none other than Miles, her childhood best friends older brother. He doesn't remember her and is stuck up with a huge ego. Can she get past his ego and tell him who she is?
This was a heartbreaking story as we learn of their shared history. The author gave us some fun, happy times to offset the heartbreak. I loved Soraya and Graham's part in this best friend's brother story. Stuck-Up Big Shot will take your emotions for a ride. This was another great addition to the Cocky Hero Club World!
