Ali Parker is a full-time contemporary and new adult romance writer with more than a hundred and twenty books behind her. She loves coffee, watching a great movie, and hanging out with her hubs. By hanging out, she means making out. The man is hot. Hello. She’s a creative at heart and loves coming up with more ideas than any one person should be allowed to access. She lives in Tennessee with her hubs, teenage son, two grown daughters, and two love-of-her-life grandbabies! Telling a good story that revives hope, reminds us of love, and gives a vacation from life is all she’s up to.
The titles is misleading. There is no hate between the leads nor any animosity. They are just weird.
This was extremely boring and Tyson was just plain dumb and Mae was stupid. Such a waste of time reading this book.
This is a second chance trope which I hate with a passion (which should have been tagged so it would have spared me the annoyance) because the reason for the breakup is usually something very dumb. In this case they were young and madly in love with each other, so what did Tyson do? He just up and left, just like that. He didn’t even breakup with her, he just fled. Why? Because he was a coward. For what? Because he felt he needed to party and whore around. I couldn’t even laugh at the absurdity of it all.
So 15 years later they meet again and he wants to try again. He fucks up time after time, it doesn’t even make sense anymore. Mae keeps eating whatever shit he dishes up for her. I hate doormat female characters. And don't forget this chick orgasms at first touch...yikes...no idea what the hell that was, but it was weird as hell.
And let’s not forget about Tyson being an introverted nerd with tattoos, muscles and a private jet who became a billionaire with digging up artifacts for his museum. Sure one can dream. Tyson doesn’t have any background info or family. He fell from the sky, just like that. The only thing we know is he was Patricks friend at some point in life.
Tyson and Mae are fire and ice and I absolutely loved it. The banter the passion and the over all chemistry was off the charts. Ali has sucked me in to her incredible books once again and now I'm needing more of Tyson and Mae. Who am I kidding all of her books do this to me . I couldn't put it down and it was worth it
Tyson and Mae are so cute. Couples can be so strange! Lol. The best romances ate ones where the couple has to work hard to finally come together and have the happily-ever-after they deserve. But even Tyson and Mae know that their HEA will not be all sunshine and roses, so they are finally at the perfect place to end their written story. :)
I personally love books that end happily ever after, with a little hot in between. I would recommend all 3 of her books to those who love a good story with a chase, love, and of course happily ever after.
Honestly, I am more on Tyson's side despite what he did being a shitty thing to do. Tyson not going with her when her dad died is really bad, even if she wasn't the closest to her dad. But for a woman who monologues about how her dad was dead to her a long time ago, and how she had no control and that he didn't care enough to be healthy, she sure does throw it in Tyson's face that her dad died. Pick a side, Mae. You cannot use a grieving situation to your advantage, and only when you want to. At least not like this when you're using it as an excuse to not speak to him. I realize how childish she is so often. She'll say she should do something but chooses to be mad or that it is easier to be mad. For a couple that doesn't know how to be empathetic, I think they need another 13 years apart to grow and revisit before making this real. I know I'm not the type to be committed with just words and promises, so I don't even think she should have returned to him. But I know I am biased since I'm not a fan of second chances, especially when actions are louder than words, and neither party has changed. This rule of thumb includes Tyson because he didn't even try to earn her back. Yes, he signed the papers, but ultimately, even if they broke up, their business arrangement would always be its' own entity. Even if they never spoke again, business is legal; there are lawyers and contracts and, hopefully, professionalism! You don't have to think it's a prenup. Sure, it is a big deal for him, but it's not warranted when we knew he would sign it all along, and he was halfway miserable doing it. Also, she needs therapy for her anger issues. They feel like a trauma bond, but honestly, those tend to last, so... But, y'know, still four stars. The first book was the best, but I still rooted for them and wanted the HEA, of course, nothing more, except maybe better communication. But at least they're committed.
Part3 This is were Tyson has to decide what the hell is he going to do, he has to apply himself to really not mess things up when they are doing so well, but he does it again, was gaining terrain when he took her to France on a quick trip, to see what was the Louvre’s offer to buy all of his museums, but then Mae receives a really tragic news and has to go home, he just sends her on a plain by herself I liked the story, had to find out how it ended, somewhat predictable but had to know.
