He's bronze. Grouchy. Mine. That is, if we don't die a horrible death first.

Working on the fringes of space wasn't exactly how I pictured my life, but it paid the bills. My days were routine. Safe even. Until they weren't.

When I'm rudely awakened because an incoming ship won't answer our comms, the last thing I expect to find is a race of aliens long assumed extinct.

No one's seen the Illusians for over a century, and yet here they are. Bruised. Battered. And threatening to kick my butt. I broke the rules and let them in. So sue me. You'd have done the same thing if you'd seen their smoking hot leader.

They're vicious, beautiful, and running from an enemy hell bent on enslaving them. I should walk away. But my boss is planning something that's almost certainly illegal, and besides…what else am I supposed to do when Ren of Illusia claims me as his mate? Just let him go without a fight?

Hell no.

This book is intended for mature audiences only.

For the grown and sexy only. This book contains strong language, sexual content and mention of sexual abuse.

FL/ Jayla :- a hard headed medic on a dilapidated station in the far reaches of space.

ML/ Aren :- alpha male of a thought to be extinct race called Illusia.

REVIEW:

Plot was interesting. A ship with injured and wounded Illusian females lands on the station, fleeing from its enemies. Jayla is made to take charge as every other person on that station is a CHARACTER—think mean girl shit and cowards. She helps them as a medic. But things get interesting when the asshole General shows up, as well as Illusian males, and more specifically their alpha Acia Aren.

However, the execution of the plot got lost in the missing pieces of descriptions and connecting scenes, as well as "sassy" dialogues. I hate it when the character tries humor in odd situation and that just doesn't land.

This book desperately needs another good editor. I say desperately, because I saw some potential here. I would have liked it to be a hit, but eh!

This is a new author for me, and I quite enjoyed the storyline. The characters are great, and the story has plenty of action and good old bad guys. Be warned, this book is not the end of the story, it continues on in book two.

DNF @60%

I couldn't keep my attention on it. It has OTT cartoonishly villain people, and a secondary cast of ridiculous 2 dimensional people - everyone from the brainless humans on the station to the secondary aliens.

Basically, total eye rolling cheese, with leads who couldn't think about anything but sex. Like, even before the aliens show up, the FMC is having sex dreams of other people on the station and constantly going on about how horny she is, like a damn cat in heat.

I am a lover of science fiction and have read many many science fiction books by all the popular authors .
This first book from this author has to be among the best and my congratulations to this author .
The story telling , the characters and the twists and turns were all there . Fantastic range of characters and so descriptive in the scenes . The two main characters suited each other perfectly and this chic has balls . The ones I Loved to hate got their just rewards in The end. I couldnt put the book down and finished it one day .
Absolutely cannot wait to start reading the second book ... Well worth the 5 stars

5 STARS FOR 1ST 3 BOOKS

I read the Illusian Warrior books 1, 2, and 3 (Unexpected, Unwelcome, and Unmatched) by Annalise Alexis on KU and was so pleased I returned them to KU and bought them. The 1st two books end on cliffhangers; however, the 3rd book wraps the story around the main H and h up rather nicely.
Throughout the three books, there are other characters who have a significant role / impact, so reading them in order will ensure readers do not miss an important tie.
The world building seemed thorough, and other than wanting to know more about the secondary characters, I do not recall having any unanswered questions.
For those readers who Anna Carven’s Dark Planet Warriors would enjoy these.

I was super lucky to win through author giveaway on instagram, so cool!! lucky me!! happy dance!! paranormal is not my normal everyday reading style, but i enjoy jumping off the norm stuff. it's a trilogy and can be read through KU. overbearing males. sassy females. tons of action, betrayal and romance lumped in there too. i would say it has an HFN for now?? what do u think? great writing style. would read more from Annalise in the future. well done!! great book cover!

3.5 // There is a different, intriguing storyline here but it needed a good editor to tighten up some aspects. There was a continuity error, an unearned plot point, and it felt a bit rushed the nearer to the end we got. But I liked the story enough that I think I’ll check out book 2 to see if it’s tighter in execution than this one. The author has obvious story telling talent, but it does need some finessing.

Unexpected

A little slow to start with but very quickly got interesting. I was amazed at the author's way with words and how the story progressed. At the end I was eager to get the next book. This is unusual for me because I'm not one for a story to be continued in another book regardless of how much I liked the story.

Wow!

I picked this book up because of the blurb. I thought it would be something sexy and light. I was so mistaken! This book was full of action from the start. Intriguing, hunky, alien males, gorgeous, insanely lethal alien females and one snarky human female medic make up a book that had me turning page after page and refusing to stop reading until the end. I really enjoyed this book.

Surprisingly good

I didn’t go into this with overly high hopes since the SFR genre has been bombarded with crappy tales swamped with trigger content. But WOW! This was a great start for this new author! Interesting alien species. A heroine who was kind and also strong. She didn’t fight the bond with the H alien like so many do, which puzzles me. Because who in their right mind snatched from earth or freely living on another planet would deny some massive sexy alien prince and / or warrior? Ya wouldn’t ! And if you wanted to, well move over cause I’ll gladly take him off your hands. So I was soooo glad when this heroine was honest and didn’t sneak around or hide the General’s true intentions from Ren. There were no horrible abuse or anxiety inducing scenes between the H and h. Thank you author for that!
Good story line creation.
Interesting powers the aliens have.
Glad the heroine picked up some powers from the bond.
Enjoyed how protective and possessive the mates/males are.
Enjoyable side characters.
I’d like to have scene the heroine kick booty a bit more fiercely then she did. A mean girl side character saved her twice, but the heroine was a nice middle of the road tough.
I recommend giving this book a try.

Jayla is a medic aboard a space station in a remote part of the solar system. Her job is boring and repetitive. There are many lonely nights with few distractions. Sometimes you get more than you bargain for as Jayla soon finds out.
Jayla is a unique no-nonsense woman that can speak and interpret 15 languages. She is a take charge kind of woman. I like her attitude and her spunk.
One day her boring life changed. A spaceship is coming in and cannot be contacted. To avoid a collision, she must open the space doors and allow them to dock. They are a group of refugees long thought extinct from the planet of Illusia. The Illusian are trying to escape another race that wants to enslave. breed or sell the Illusian women. They meet Naya, a Keeper with the Illusian and Ren, their leader. Ren is a large muscular and handsome man. Jayla is having many naughty thoughts about Ren that she is going to save for all those lonely nights.
Jayla’s language skills come into play as she can speak with and understand the Illusians. She agrees to give them a place to stay until they repair their ship. Many on the space station do not agree with Jayla.
Ren, unmated male finds Jayla irresistible. Many unmated female refugees are unhappy with this situation.
A General arrives shortly after the Illusians and he commandeers everyone’s comm devices and roughs up Jayla for her bad decisions. This does not sit well with Ren. Something about his arrival and the refugee situation seems wrong.
This is a good book. I could not put it down. I want to know more about the Illusians. Where will they go? This book has great characters, intrigue, betrayal and romance. I am eagerly awaiting the next book.

He Knows What He Wants🐺🍆🌋💘

Alpha Alien🐺🍆🌋🔪 Adult Romance and Adventure

When the supposedly extinct humanoid Ilusian Warriors🐺🍆🌋 and their families show up at the broken down space station that Human Medic Jayla💃💋, is stationed on, she is the only one able to speak their unknown language. Why a woman with an amazing gift for languages is only a medic, and on a backwater station, is a mystery not explained.

The huge, strong and fast Illusian🐺🍆🌋🔪 men act first, and don't need to justify their savage actions. Jealousy, rage, and a strong mating instinct seem to rule their lives.

Their leader, Ren🐺🍆🌋, realizes Jayla is his long sought mate! Several unmated Illusian females let their jealousy take over their common sense and Jayla💃💋 is in danger from the vastly physically superior women.

To add to that, a human General👺🔫 shows up and is trying to manipulate Jayla💃💋 to be his spy. He knows the Illusians🐺🍆🌋 have vastly superior mental capabilities, too, and can control human minds. He wants the secret or technology for that capability!

ARC Received from Hidden 💎Gems
I also got the published book with KU.

Of course, Jayla doubts the sincerity of Ren's devotion to her, which adds lots of angst to the story.

For some reason this book didn't really grab me, maybe because Jayla💃💋 seems noncommittal and detached from Ren🐺🍆🌋 and all the events happening in The book. I felt like she was sleepwalking through most of the book.

This one surprised me—in a good way. I went in expecting a spicy alien romance and got that, sure, but also a solid dose of world-building and some genuinely high-stakes tension. The Illusians aren’t just eye candy with pointy ears; they’ve got culture, history, and a whole mess of political baggage that adds depth to the story. I appreciated that the author didn’t just lean on the romance to carry the plot—there’s a real sense of danger and urgency that kept me invested.

Ren, the male lead, is exactly the kind of protective-but-respectful character I love. He’s got that gruff exterior, but never crosses into possessive or controlling territory. His dynamic with Jayla felt balanced, with mutual respect and chemistry that didn’t rely on constant drama. The “mate claim” trope is definitely in play here, so if that’s not your thing, fair warning—but it’s handled with more nuance than usual.

For some, the beginning of this book may drag a bit, but I didn’t mind the setup—it gave me time to settle into the world and get a feel for the stakes. The writing style is casual and snappy, which fits the tone, though there are a few rough edges here and there. Nothing major, but noticeable if you’re picky about polish.

Overall, Unexpected delivers more than its cover might suggest. It’s sexy, yes, but also thoughtful and surprisingly layered. I’m definitely curious to see where the Illusian storyline goes next.

~Enticing first look at the elusive Illusian warrior race~

—>>> Working on the very isolated Station U as one of two medics, Jayla Shirley and her crew open the bay doors to a group of women and children seeking asylum, and she is the only one who can understand them as well as treat them. When the males of their group are reunited with their, Ren the leader recognizes a mate in Jayla, but has many other pressing matters to contend with. Mainly, being able to leave as soon as possible and disappear in the galaxy.

Jayla proves herself skilled in tending to the injured Illusians, earning their overall trust. But it is not until a high commander appearing at their work station that the whole situation there become even more personally threatening to her amongst her already hostile peers, even more so than aiding the violent aliens themselves.

Jayla’s character is unapologetically fierce, passionate, and thinks outside the box - more than a match for Ren, their most sought after male and leader. I also loved Naya, their devoted female warrior. Lots of conflict aboard from all directions, while the storyline plays out. This is an enticing first look at the elusive Illusian warrior race and their intriguing skills and secrets, and I am definitely looking forward to continuing this series!

I was smitten with everything about this book from the characters to the amazing relationship between all these outstandingly crafted characters. I think the thing I fell in love with the most though was Jayla's snark. She had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Ren is this majorly OTT Alpha male with complete control over his people, especially the men and yet Jayla can control him like no other. All the characters, the good, the bad and the ugly are just larger than life and brought out such strong emotion in me. Naya is one of my favourites though, she is a Keeper and is fearless and her loyalty to her people knows no bounds. This book is beyond exciting and captivated me from word go. Ren & Jayla's bond is unique and grows quickly and profoundly and Jayla's love for his people and her fearlessness drive Ren crazy. I cannot wait to see the direction the author takes this story in. Violence, passion, danger, betrayal and questions answered make for a book that you will not be able to put down.

Holy guacamole!

I have the utmost respect for authors that can create huge, believable worlds and bring a reader into them as easily as snapping their fingers. We are immediately introduced to Jayla's way of life out in space when - BAM - everything gets thrown to chaos. There were twists that kept me guessing (and I'm usually a good ending-predictor), a lot of hot sex (hell yeah), and, my personal favorite: an alpha male and a sassy, strong heroine.

If you're looking for something new and exciting, pick up this book. If you want to find a new book boyfriend and love hard-on-the-outside, sweet-on-the-inside alpha males, read this book.

Okay, I'm done. I have no complaints. And honestly, no one should complain about cliffhangers because it's a TRILOGY. The show must go on, people. (As far as cliffhangers went, this one wasn't even bad. Like a 3 on a scale of 1-10.)

Something more

This is hard for me to review. I like where the story is going and the characters were growing on me. I liked how the main characters got together and were in it. I liked her confidence and the way she took control of the situation and the confidence she had. She didn't let anyone stand in her way.

The story was a little one sided. I didn't see her really giving a care about the other humans. There wasn't really a "friendship" there to the her to them. I would have liked to see that pull because it would have made her character more dimensional and caring. I felt everything was a sidenote to their relationship and honestly that took away from the amazing plot that was there.
I am hoping when I get to the next book there will be a change.

Intriguing

This was an interesting read, filled with heat, violence and the ever present stench of betrayal. Set in space, a human female comes face to face with an alien race long thought to be extinct. Her choices, and her sacrifices set the stage for a future none of them expected, and leads to revelations that try to shatter her. It’s fast paced and rather thrilling, though I rated it only a 3 as it often doesn’t make sense, or required a reread of scenes to understand what was going on.

Pros:
- Very Interesting.
- Sci fi rules need not apply.
- Steamy. Very steamy.
- Good intrigue build up.

Cons:
- Little in the way of emotional connection.
- A bit disjointed or confusing.
- Some aspects were very rushed.

I really enjoyed this book. I really appreciated the heroine who despite all that happened to her, she kept trying to save her fellow humans. She reminded me of Amber from The Last Hour of Gann, but thankfully nothing as horrific as what happened to Amber happened to Jayla. Phew!!

I liked learning about Ren and his people and the dynamics between the males and females. I really look forward to Jayla shaking that up a bit. LOL! Gonna be a fun ride I'm hoping.

I'm looking forward to reading more in this series, especially about some of those side characters. Several of them really piqued my interest.

This author really knows how to create a female lead that is relatable. You want to route for her and you also know how she feels about her independence. I loved the pacing and the work building, her attention to detail keeps you drawn in. It’s definitely a sci-fi romance in all the best ways but packed with action and angst. When I was done I immediately started the next book. I’m not one to let a cliffhanger bother me and I usually like the anticipation, but I was not ready to be done with this one.

This is part one of the Her Illusian Warrior series a well-written story that does end on a cliff-hanger. Jayla is the onboard medic for the spaceship she is on, Aren of Illusia and his crew come seeking asylum but there are some who do not want to welcome them. This has suspense, drama, danger, evil, betrayal, deceit, Inokine, a mystery man, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Very imaginative

I really enjoyed the story! It was so great to find a alien romance that has substance. I sucked it all up. I love the culture building and these Illusions are fascinating. I am so excited that I finally read this book. I’ve been in her Facebook group for a long time. It finally came up my TBR pile. Loved it, my only small complaint was the love scenes they felt off, rushed.

I received a free ARC of this book via Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is my own.

If you are looking for a tame sci-fi adventure, look elsewhere because this is definitely not that. The plot is very well developed and thought out. I wasn't overly fond of the main alien race, the Illusians, because the race as a whole was very sexist. The characters were alright but a bit flat in this story. I was looking for a bit more depth. Hopefully the next ones are a bit better.

love and war

That was an unexpectedly interesting world building . In this story, humans have concurred space and in a space station, illusian refugees dock and what follows is pure pandemonium. The story itself has many threads that are woven to somewhat create a story about many the interactions of several species . But still there are many aspects that remain a mystery . I hope the next book gives more answers than questions.

Absolute 5 of 5 stars

Already preordered the next book, this was awesome. Such intriguing characters and storyline. Amazing backstory to who the Illusians are and how they came to be on our Heroines doorstep. Most importantly, we have sex on a stick alien males and females that bring this story to new heights in alien scifi romance.
