The Intro I’m an outlaw, got an outlaw chick Bumping 2pac, on my outlaw shit Jay-Z “You ready, baby?” Lincoln asked over the walkie talkie. “Yea, I’ll see you in a little bit,” Nikki responded. “I love you.” “Tell me later,” she said and then turned the walkie talkie off. Adjusting her wig, Nikki stepped out of the dark alley. It was a little after five in the morning and the streets of New York were popping like it was rush hour. The crowd didn’t make Nikki nervous though, this was their fourth time doing a job, and she was almost a pro. Still, never one to get big-headed, Nikki watched her surroundings. When she saw the bank manager, Marisa, who she’d been watching for a few weeks walking up to the bank’s door, Nikki made her way across the street. Marisa was so into her conversation that she didn’t see Nikki slide in behind her before she could close the door back. Normally her guard Hank was right there, but this morning Hank was running late. Probably because he was tied up in his apartment. He too had been careless and let his guard down. “You better not scream. Hang up the fucking phone,” Nikki whispered pointing the gun at her head.

“Tell me later”

IDC what anyone says, ain’t 🗣️NOBODY touching Nesha in the literary world! She is in her own lane and is comfortable af while giving us stories that we want! More often than not when I read an authors older work, it’s glaringly obvious that they were in the beginning stages of their career but not with Nesha! I mean yeah she’s aged like fine wine and gotten better with time but she was a heavy weight straight out the gate!! I was locked in reading Envy Me and by the time I blinked it was 2am and I was finishing the book!

Lincoln and Nikki are partners in every sense of the word! They are partners in business, partners in the bedroom and partners in crime! They’ve been able to keep everyone out of their business and out of their pockets because what’s between them is between them. No one knows how they make their money and it’s better for everyone to keep it that way!

That green eyed monster ain’t never too far behind and it reared its ugly head in the form of two scandalous, bitter, jealous 🍑 mfs! Sometimes family will do you dirtier than a stranger will and this was the case with Lincoln’s brother Will and Nikki’s cousin Shelly. These two wanted the life that Link and Nik had and were willing to do whatever it took to get it!

Nikki and Link were always smart, precise and cautious with how they moved however one slip up created a domino effect that had me clutching pearls I wasn’t wearing and holding my breath waiting for the shoe to drop! This book had me on the edge of my seat until the end and I was not ready! Everyone gets what they deserved and now that it’s all over I can breathe again! If you’re new to the world of Ladii Nesha please don’t sleep on her! She is an author that never disappoints!

A good time is always had when I read a Ladii Nesha book and, one was definitely had with Envy Me. Sis took it be your own damn people to a whole new level. Nikki and Lincoln are livin’ the good life. They live in an expensive condo, drive luxury cars, wear designer clothing, and take multiple vacations a year. But, everyone is side eyein' them and wants to know, how the hell are they able to afford all of that expensive shyt?!!! Yeah they own a bookstore but, no one believes that’s how they actually make their money. That’s because it’s not. Nikki and Link are living a double life they're desperately trying to keep from their family and friends. They’ve been doing a good job of keeping both lives separate until Link lets his jailbird azz brother move in with them and that’s where all their problems begin. Will thinks he’s entitled to the lifestyle his brother lives and Shelly thinks she’s entitled to Link. Oh, yeah. Shelly is Nikki's desperate pick me cousin. No matter how many times their friends try to talk their dumbs azzes off the ledge of insanity and tell them "this ain't what y'all want", they refuse to listen. But, a hard head makes a soft azz and Will and Shelly had to learn that the hard way. Both of their traitorous azzes got exactly what they deserved. Envy Me is a cautionary tale of how family can be your worst enemy. Just because they're blood related, don't make them family. The jealousy, envy, hate, and greed was on full display and runnin’ rampant throughout this book. These so called “family” members are gon’ have y’all ready to fight so, gon’ and get a tasty beverage and buckle down for a wild ride. Envy Me is full of drama and action and the ending will, legit, have you crying.

if you know nesha you know the jokes are on the way in all of her novels! this book was a quick read for me but nevertheless the drama was there!

quick character recap:
nikki & link: true match made in heaven.. even on the gangsta shit! they truly received every good thing that happened in the end.

will: i knew his ass was going to be envious from
the beginning. how do you hate on your only sibling? fifty years wasnt long enough.. they shoulda gave him life.

shelly: got what she deserved by being dumb behind a nigga all to try to be better than somebody else. but she just like her mama.

sasha: okay nesha; why she had to die?

Envious territory

This author keep surprising me. Every book I read by her had a different plot and different characters to hate and love. Lincoln and Nikki have got to be my favorite couple out of her characters. Their family drama and envious ways caught up to them and I know they wished they would’ve chose the right side. I’m so happy Lincoln finally opened his eyes and saw Nikki was the only one in his corner through thick and thin. Definitely recommend

So good

I was hooked from the first page. This was like watching a movie. I couldn't believe how jealous Will and Shelly was over their family. The green monster is ugly and it can make your life hell. I was glad the ending turned out the way it did. Now it's time for me to make my way through this author's catalog.

Seeing Green ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Money wasn’t the root of all evil; it just exposed the intentions of the person behind it.” Whew—Envy Me had me hooked from the start!

If Ladii Nesha don’t do nothing else, she’s going to give you characters with realness who are funny as hell. Nikki and Lincoln’s relationship felt solid and loving, but their success brought out the snakes in their circle. The way jealousy plays out in this story? Chef’s kiss. That theme of envy coming back to bite you was done so well!

Iesha was the ultimate ride or die bestie, and honestly, we all need one of her in our lives. And just when I thought I had the plot figured out… boom. Ladii Nesha hit me with a twist I did not see coming.

This was a one-sitting, stay-up-way-too-late kind of read. Work the next morning? What that got to do with me!

🔥it really be your own family!!!

Perfectly titled, Envy Me, is a story about greed and how no matter how much you try to help someone their envy gets in the way of them seeing your help. They always want what you have and more. That’s what happened when Lincoln tried to help his brother, Will, once he was released from doing a long bid in prison. In my opinion, Lincoln did more than enough but Will wanted it all, he felt it was owed to him. Aside from Will, Shelly is envious of her cousin, Nikki to the point where she didn’t even hide it. Will and Shelly were one in the same and they got what they deserved. Lincoln and Nikki are goals in a sense and they do their part to help others as much as they can. No matter what they did, it was never enough!! I felt every part of this story; I legit laughed my tail off, I got so frustrated, and I literally cried real tears. This book delivers, okay!!

Jealousy is a hell of a drug! The title was perfect for this book. It shows how jealousy can become a death sentence if you don’t check it at the door. Shelly and Will are the embodiment of a hardhead makes a soft rear end and most certainly deserved everything they got. I adored Link and Nikki’s relationship. They didn’t move unless the other moved as it should be. Iesha was too funny. This was a great first read from a new author to me and I can’t to read more of her work.

Intriguing

This book is a page turner. This by first book by Renesha, but it will not be my last. I don't even know where to start. I can say keep your enemies close and your family closer. Lincoln and Nikki are "couple goals". The love, trust, honesty, unconditional love, and sacrifice is what it's all about. Joey and Iesha need a story.

Nikki & Link were the modern day Bonnie & Clyde. Just trying to live life & do good. Not only by their friends & family, but also their community. Even with going out their way to help others, there were still snakes lurking. Jealousy and envy is such an evil trait, especially when it’s your own family. Great read.

Loved it! That green eyed monster is a beast!

Shelly and Will let insecurities and envy cloud their common sense. Making decisions off emotions never turns out right. I love Nikki and Lincoln's relationship they openly communicate and are true partners which is very important. Iesha and Joey cracked me up too

Blood makes you related, not always family! The jealousy, and envy that these family members displayed was just beyond comprehension! Get yo own ish, and stop hatin'! Lincoln and Nikki's relationship was couple goals! They were truly each other's partner in every sense. They were ride or die if I have ever seen it. Nikki's best friend Iesha, was hysterical! She held her friend down always! Don't want to give too much away, but the drama was real!
Good read!

Some of the most poisonous people come disguised as family!!!

Sometimes, a family member can be the worst form of enemy and this book delves deep into that reality. Both of the main characters, Nikki and her man Lincoln, have to deal with jealousy within their family. But, while one of them is able to keep their hating family member at bay, the other isn’t as successful which causes a lot of blood being shed unnecessarily.
I really enjoyed the rollercoaster ride I was taken on, from having moments of laughter, anxiousness, being so pissed that I wanted to throw my dang tablet across the room... to happiness.
The author definitely did her thing and I can’t wait to read more from her!

🔥🔥

My first read by this author and it was really good. Nikki and Link truly had a special bond. It is a shame that even your own family can be green with envy. It caught up to them really quickly. I appreciate the author sharing this story in the fb group. I am looking forward to reading more of her works.

Imagine being the modern-day Bonnie and Clyde. First, let me just say: RIP Jimmy. Gone too soon, and he did not deserve that ending.

I absolutely LOVED Nikki and Lincoln’s love story from beginning to end. Lincoln is a lover boy at heart, and I love that for him. Their bond was wild, passionate, chaotic, and loyal in a way most people could only dream about. They were truly ride-or-die for each other, and I ate it up every chapter.

I’m also glad Mrs. Mary finally came around and opened her heart to Lincoln. Growth!

Now, the moment Will got out of prison, I knew everything was about to go downhill. Imagine envying your little brother because he’s doing better than you. Granted… robbing banks isn’t exactly the moral high ground, but STILL. Will was a hater from the start and proved it every step of the way.

The second-to-last chapter had me STRESSED. I just knew Lincoln was gone. I could feel Nikki’s pain when they had to split up and she was watching everything unfold on the news at the airport. That scene was heartbreaking. And when she heard his voice later, I was fully convinced she was dreaming and about to crumble all over again.

Shoutout to Nick and Joey for that master plan. They really came through when it mattered.

As for Shelly—she was a problem the entire book, but I still didn’t expect her to die. And Sasha getting caught in the crossfire? That was one of the saddest moments for me.

Then there’s Will, trying to take his own life right before the cops came crashing in. A mess from beginning to end. He’s right back to being somebody’s problem—and somebody’s bitch—all over again.

And Bumpy? I’m glad he got exactly what he deserved. No tears shed.

Overall, this book had me locked in from start to finish. Action, betrayal, love, heartbreak, loyalty, and jaw-dropping twists. I’d definitely recommend it. Ladii Nesha did her thing with this story

BEST BOOK EVER

Omg I love this book so much !!! This is my favorite book from Ladii Nesha. It was so good!!!

This book made me laugh, cry and furious.

This was definitely a page turner ! The millennial Bonnie and Clyde were literally made for eachother ! I love Link and Nikki’s relationship. They were ride or die for eachother. Link was the best MMC ! I love how he has full trust in Nikki and always consulted her before he made moves. He respected her and loved her deeply. Nikki was that girl! She was smart and a take charge FMC. She also did not play about her man and was very intuitive about the kind of people they surrounded themselves with.

Nikki and link were bookstore owners helping the community by day and annual robbers by night. I love their dynamic so much but everything hit the fan when Lincoln’s no good brother Will came home from jail. His envy and stupidity paired with Nikki’s cousin Shelly, who was cut from the same cloth as him , changed the course of everyone’s life.

What happened to Jimmy broke my heart to pieces it made me cry so hard. He didn’t deserve that . Sasha didn’t deserved what happened to her either. A part of me believe that will got off too easy because I’m pretty he loves what happens in that closet. What happens to Shelly was actually sad too. She deserved punishment but what happened was shocking.

Iesha , Joey and Nick were real ones. Iesha was a true friend. I loved her . Mary got on my nerves most of the book but she came around eventually .

This book was amazing and I wholeheartedly loved it. Ladii Nesha’s has such a talent to draw people in her stories. They’re so good!

When's the movie coming out??

The cover is perfect. Green with envy and green for the money. Very creative storyline. It's really good when you're rooting for the main characters even though they're wrong as heck. They gave back to the community, though - their own way of correcting some injustices in the system. And their love was relationship goals.
Loved the banter between Nikki and Iesha. It captured the relationship between true friends. And Jimmy - he was one of my favorites. Witty and smart, I think he just needed a school that challenged him more.
Family? They'll do you worse than strangers and Nikki and Lincoln had their hands full with family trying to bring them down. Seeing Nikki's mother make a change and develop a relationship with Lincoln did my heart good. Sasha, well, again, family!
The ending was sooo perfect and exactly what I had hoped for.
I read that this was the author's first book. If so, she came out blasting. Looking forward to reading more from Ladii Nesha.

This was a good book overall, but I found myself growing very tired of Will and Shelly’s characters. While they played major roles in the story, their constant antics became frustrating, and their drama felt unnecessarily drawn out. Meanwhile, the pacing shifted too quickly toward the end, with everything happening all at once.

I think the book would have been more balanced if the author had explored Will and Link’s childhood, what happened to their parents, or how Will and Nikki met. Diving into their backstories and lives before meeting could have added depth, rather than focusing so heavily on Will’s over-the-top behavior, which became tiresome.

Despite these points, it was still an enjoyable read!

GREAT READ

The storyline definitely fit the title. Jealousy and Envy was the root of evil in this book. I loved Lincoln and Nikki's portrayal as Bonnie and Clyde. Reading this book was like watching a movie from the very first page. Reminded me of Set It Off. Will and Shelly were so envious of Lincoln and Nikki that it caused their downfall. Sometimes family can be a worst enemy than any outsider. Although what they were doing posed a potential risk of being caught, I loved how Lincoln and Nikki had a plan set up for the "what if". But through all the drama there was a happy ending.

what a ride!

Initially, I didn’t know what to think first page in. But I continued on and things starter to get juicy. Once I realized where things were going, I was really in. Then it took a turn and I wasn’t sure how the author would wrap this up. I must say, what I expected to happen didn’t. And for that I really enjoyed it. While the underwater thing was a bit much, I overall enjoyed this story. I felt bad for Sasha, but everyone else got what they had coming. Karma!

On a side note, the gay thing couldn’t been left out. It was too cliché and stereotypical and just overall wasn’t necessary.
