LUST SHARINGAN, GO! SHWINGGG. I had to close the volume and laugh when I saw Nobunaga’s left eye working on Iyo. It was so corny but in a fun way, not a cringy way.

I’m normally not a fan of the omegaverse stuff, and the only omegaverse stuff I’ve read has been BL, so I felt the need to give this omegaverse josei a chance.

So the story begins with the grand jerk himself, Nobunaga, strolling around town and triggering women (Iyo happens to be one of them) with his superior alpha scent. I honestly find Nobunaga’s devotion to his yet-unknown soul mate in this scene quite cute because so devoted to protecting her, whoever she is. Yes, it’s motivated by the horny desire to impregnate, but this is smut, so I lowered my expectations accordingly. At least it’s not just smut for smut’s sake, but it’s very damn close. Also why are they in high school and not college or something, especially if the gang is gonna be about “that” action.

Noel is a character I find easy to root for. When she said she was scared of growing up, I felt that. I have one gripe. The main character, Noel, wears her hair in a ponytail and wears glasses. But she is SECRETLY GORGEOUS once she takes off her glasses LOOOL. Okay, girl, alright. I’ll take it.

My issue with this book is the fact that the characters are in high school. Actually, I have two issues. I also have an issue with Nobunaga says Hiro’s feelings for Noel can’t be real because his feelings are motivated by her being an omega. But that argument can also be used against him. He’s just interested in her because he’s an alpha and she’s an omega. Yes, Hiro assaulted Noel, but Nobunaga did the same thing, he forced Noel to make an unsavoury choice. So he barely ekes out Hiro in the competition of deplorability.

Regardless of all of that, imma read volume 2. There’s some potential here. I’m willing to let this lead me where it will for a few volumes haha.

Well, if this isn't a clear example of "be careful what you wish for," I don't know what is.

*What I wished for being more manga targeted at an older female audience in English.

CW: attempted suicide, attempted sexual assault, nonconsensual kissing.

I am amazed that I enjoyed this as much as I did.

While I do enjoy smut every once in awhile, the main reason why I don't read it too much is that generally the story and characters serve the sex scenes and that's it. That's not a bad thing, that's pretty much why people read smut in the first place, but as a character-driven reader it's hard for me to ignore how bland/ obnoxious/ one-dimensional the characters are just so I can see some sexy times. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the characters introduced. Granted none of them are going to be winning any awards right now, but I like how blunt and aware Noel is and how Nobunaga wears his heart on his sleeve rather than being the usual broody, cryptic male lead. I also really liked how aggressive and straightforward Ran is and I LOVE Noel's mom.

The artwork is pretty and super expressive, which I'm trash for, and the character designs look good. The story and lore has enough intrigue to keep me going while being simple enough for a casual read. There is a fuckton of problematic content, which I can't say I'm surprised by considering the subject matter, but I didn't think it was too exploitive or romanticized. In fact, the series actually brings up how alphas are constantly subjected to attempted sexual assault because of their pheromones. Of course, this discussion is handled as well as it could be in an older teen drama-porn manga, but at least they tried.

Overall, I'm curious enough to read volume 2. While I did enjoy this more than I thought, I'm still a little skeptical about how the series will progress and am keeping my expectations low. That being said, I would recommend this to someone looking for some drama-filled smut, but with the caveat that there is problematic content, so do your research first.

DNF @ 50%

This was godawful. Horrible. Just absolutely horrible from page one.

I’m an avid omegaverse reader…but this was too ridiculous. I just couldn’t do it. Tell me why from the first few pages we’re already talking about how the mc is irresistible, everyone wants to fuck him, and he can’t wait to put his “seed” in his perfect “woman”? I’m losing it.

It’s not that any of the stuff I just mentioned isn’t part of omegaverse but most of the stories I read are not as heavy handed. It’s ridiculous! Especially when you consider the fact that these are high schoolers. Like, c’mon. Get a fucking grip!

I was hoping to like this because I’m trying to ease my friend into the omegaverse (and some of the other stories I like have too many 🚩🚩🚩) but this was just too poorly written from the get go. Nuh uh. Can’t do it.

Worth?: Eeehhhh

Uhhh I guess it is your basic Omega, Alpha, Beta story? The main guy Nobunga is full of shit, which is the nicest way to put it. He is basically a rapist talking shit about another rapist. I ordered the other 2 and preordered the 4th. Why? Because I needed to used something before it expired.

I will tell you now this dumb chick is gonna end with this idiot because these creators haven't an ounce of creativity and imagination.

2.5 ⭐️⭐️.⭐️

So I'm just gonna say that I had bought this on a whim. (Yes, it's a problem I'm currently working on). This isn't something I would normally read. I'm not too familiar with omegaverse stuff. Did I mention this is a whim purchase? So cue my surprised/embarrassed face seeing the spice that I was not expecting. Again, this is why I should stop buying books on wild whims, but surprisingly, I did find myself somewhat enjoying this. There were some parts that were funny, other parts that made me cringe a bit. So if Vol. 2 magically appears in my cart during another wild whim purchasing escapade, we just ain't gonna discuss it, okay? Okay.

It’s been a while since I read a book in one sitting. Yes it’s a manga volume and yes it’s a very short volume but it still counts. It was such a quick read.

I am so used to reading yaoi omegaverse manga, so it’s interesting to see one where the main character is a girl. It’s my first time reading an omegaverse manga with a heterosexual main couple, it seems like it’s going to be a reverse harem series. I’ve read many boys love omegaverse manga series so I know what to expect. Sometimes the omega are treated like they’re very important like in this one, other times they are treated like trash (like in the series Kiraide Isasete). I like that the guy isn't afraid to admit that he likes her or at least is attracted to the main character. I'm so tired of the tsundere male love interest in shojos and joseis, it's great that more series have male leads that aren't embarrassed to admit their attraction or love for the main character.

I might write an actual review someday or just leave it as this. I just don’t feel well so I don’t feel like writing a review today.

This has dark themes of dubcon/noncon, SA, self harm 💀definitely and adult manga for 18+

Well shit i read this before and i forgot how dark this is. For one it disclosed what the ages of the characters are but they are in Highschool this is set in an omegaverse setting where we have alphas, betas, and omegas… seeking their mate.

But there were moments were eek 😅 moving to dangerous territory since this is H and they are in HS. He is an alpha male and is very drawn to her and very OTT possesive and obsessed after discovering what she is but she isnt too happy about it. Just be warned its just very crass and dark, dark themes. So I am not sure where the story is going so Im gonna see where its going?

Genre: Mature Japanese Manga
🌶️🌶️/5 (spice level)

Tropes and Themes: MF Omegaverse, secret omega, book one in a series, fated mates, slight love triangle, alpha MMC with a magnetic draw. TWs: dub-con, SA, issues with consent, self harm (attempted suicide?)

Basic premise: Noel has managed to hide her omega designation by pretending to be a beta pretty successfully. She doesn’t mind being in the background when it means she doesn’t have to deal with the consequences of being an ultra rare omega. But when her best friend becomes enthralled by an alpha, she goes to rescue her only to reveal herself as an omega to the alpha, Nobunaga, her fated mate.

Thoughts:
First, the art for this book is great. I loved the style and the details. The artist did an amazing job portraying emotions!

As I have come to notice the the omegaverse graphic novels, this book has also fallen prey to some of the less than desirable omegaverse mechanics, namely consent issues dealing with pheromones and hormones, dubious situations, and omega mental health issues.

I liked the premise of the book, that the FMC has been hiding her designation and pretending to be a beta, but the MMC is not particularly likable and from what I understand, there is another contender for the FMC in volume two. I don’t think I’ll be continuing this series, but I did like the omegaverse world in this one.

Okay so I didn’t necessarily like this, but it was funny. I don’t know if it meant to be funny though? It was just so ridiculous and the things these characters say make me laugh in like… disbelief? The amount of times Nobunaga says “my seed” is too many. Honestly I picked this up because it was omegaverse, but like straight omegaverse just lacks flavor imo. I’m still waiting on some gl omegasverse tbh. Anyway I already preordered the next two so I’ll continue it. I kind of want to know what happens. So far I don’t really care about any of the characters so idk! We’ll see I guess.

I've heard of the Omegaverse, but I still don't know what it is, specifically. That aside, I love this manga series. The artwork is well-done, the characters are cool, the concepts are intriguing, and I have high hopes for the rest of the series. Will the lead girl (sorry, I'm forgetting her name...) play hard to get or let herself fall hard in love with our hot as hell lead guy? I have the first three books in this manga series, so I know what my next literary obsession will be!

This feels very 3 star for me. I like the story. I like characters. The overall vibe of the book is dark, gritty and super on point with what is conveyed with the cover. I did really enjoy my read of this book and look forward to continuing with the series.

Judged a book by it's cover and didn't even see that underneath the title Bite Maker it said Omega. I thought this was a vampire manga. Though I was sad it wasn't I'm not disappointed in the slightest.

2.5 I would say for me I can’t quite figure out how I’m supposed to feel about it. It wasn’t super terrible but I was also bored most of the way through. For a first volume I don’t feel like it really established anything other then shock value.

It’s a bit confusing in the beginning, but you catch on. I wish it wasn’t so short. It’s caught my attention and I plan to read more of the series, but it would have been nice to have more events happen throughout the first book.

Sehr seltsamer Manga irgendwie. So krass viel Porno ohne Porno. Also eher Gelaber über Sex und Obszönes als wirkliche Taten. Ob die noch kommen? Weiß nicht, ob ich das weiterlese. Würde mich ja schon ein bißchen interessieren.

If this wasn’t set in high school, I think I would’ve liked it a lot more. However, the mature scenes and acts of violence were overshadowed by the fact that these numbers were only teenagers….

It’s still an entertaining series, so I’m not too disappointed about the series as a whole.

Primer contacte amb un Omegaverse. Estic intrigada però em genera cert rebuig alhora. Tot plegat em recorda una mica a la saga "Psi-Cambiantes" de la Nalini Singh.
