Superhero action meets romantic hijinks in this yuri manga series about a heroine and the villainess who’s fallen for her!
When the villainess Honey Trap defeats the superheroine Rapid Rabbit, she sees her nemesis’ face for the first time…and falls head over heels in love! Unable to kill Rapid Rabbit, Honey Trap is cast out of her evil organization, her plans for world domination dashed. Now, the two superwomen are teaming up to fight evil together. Can Honey Trap defeat her former colleagues and seduce the heroine at the same time?
Silly, cute rom-com that has some pretty cool action/transforming scenes. Nothing groundbreaking but I liked the more unique superhero/villain trope, which I haven't seen in many yuri series before. This is pure fluff that I had fun reading and will definitely pick up again!
Honey Trap walks away from the super villain life when she instacrushes on the local superheroine. Now her days are spent trying to keep her former co-workers from harming Rapid Rabbit while figuring out how to get Rapid Rabbit to fall in love with her. The pureness and cuteness is marred a little by some mild fan service and a villainess who's into up-skirt peeks, but I still found it an amusing distraction and will be getting more books in the series.
I was in the mood for some yuri/shoujo ai manga when I came across this one. What happens when the enemy falls in love with the hero and they start living together? The manga made me laugh many a time as well. I love Honey and Hayate, especially Honey has some wonderful thoughts and expressions that made me giggle and laugh. Oh this woman. I love learning about the organisation that Honey is part of and also that we see the other two generals still active under the boss (and see that they are also lovers in a way). We haven't seen much of the third one and Honey hasn't told us much about them. Curious! I love how innocent Hayate is and had a laugh how casual she addresses the enemies. Oh dear. I do think it is hilarious how the organisation is so small yet does quite some interesting things and is able to create a lot of chaos. The art was quite nice. Now here is hoping that next time there is some kissing!
This was really silly. It’s a comedic take on the superhero genre and even though it does seem self aware, it was too over the top for me. There wasn’t enough romance between the two main ladies for my taste, and the action sequences didn’t do anything for me. I had fun reading it but I won’t continue the series. 2.5 stars
Honey Trap, notorious supervillain, gets the better of the heroic Rapid Rabbit. Before going in for the kill, she takes a look under her foe’s mask and is so lovestruck she switches teams. Thrown together, is Honey badgering Rabbit or might our hero want a snuggle bunny herself? Yes, they’re already in a sentai, but will it lead to hentai?
I’ve read a lot of yuri in my day, but superhero parody farce is certainly a new one. By the time the evil organization has cut off Honey and denied her severance, you pretty much know what you’re in for here.
This book takes absolutely nothing seriously at any point and, as a consequence, neither should you. It’s willing to cut anything down for a laugh and, for the most part, it really works.
Our leads make a fun pair - despite her sheen of villainous cool, Honey turns out to be a total disaster lesbian and Rabbit is mostly oblivious and way too accommodating (although she’s getting the hint by the end). They team-up and Honey gets herself in over her head trying to move the relationship along.
The evil monster organization is just as goofy - their leader, whose face is never shown, is a complete train wreck and I love her ominous proclamations being totally deflated a page later. This book has one of the funniest uses of the word ‘totes’ that I’ve ever seen. The clearly dating subordinates are just as fun - seeing evil take vacation days is always cute.
On the downside, there’s this niggling sensation that I should be enjoying this way more than I am. Everything is perfect on paper and there are even jokes about lesbian master swordswoman otaku trained on glow sticks (this character gets a great line about a move she learned from a doujinshi which makes perfect sense with the visual).
I honestly think it comes down to the stakes - there are none. At all. Whatsoever. The burgeoning relationship between our two leads is sweet as can be, but this story is picking the joke every single time and that kinda strips out any tension whatsoever. There’s a heart to this story, but it’s shrivelled up and poorly fed by the very good comedy.
3.5 stars and, much as I enjoyed it, I think I’ll round this one down. I’d like to see what the second volume brings us. It’s a good book, don’t get me wrong, and quite unlike any other yuri I’ve read. If you just want a broad comedy (uh, pun unintended there) with lesbians goofing around and nothing else, I would say you’re safe to round up.
Superwomen in Love is a pretty cute romcom. As of volume one, there's just a one-sided crush between the villainess and the heroine. The heroine is kind of ditzy and clueless about the whole thing.
This manga doesn't seem to take itself very seriously. Even the villains are comical. Personally I'm not a huge fan when things get this goofy, but I have to say the art in this manga is stunning.
The majority of this very short manga volume is comprised of battle sequences. I found myself zoning out a bit while reading them. I think I was just hoping for more out of this manga. The characterization is very two-dimensional. There's no backstory. The reader doesn't even know the heroine's day job. How does she afford her apartment? She's young; is she a student? The story is all very surface-level, lacking in any depth whatsoever. I'll probably continue but hopefully there's more romance or something of substance in future volumes. If not, I guess it's still a decent series. It really is laugh-out-loud funny, so even if it's dragged down by a bunch of battle sequences, there are moments that shine.
This is really really cute usually I’m not a fan of Insta love but this one really worked I thought this was silly and cute the artwork actually matched the story very well the characters are so cute the story is so cute I did need something that was lighthearted and fun to read I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the volumes.
Feels much more like a gag manga than one with any romance in it, though some of the jokes did elicit a few chuckles from me. The characters and setting feels a bit flimsy for me to wholeheartedly recommend, but I'm down for reading more, to be honest.
What’s worse than assassins being sent after you? Being fired without severance! Superwomen In Love is as hilarious as it is ridiculous. The fight scenes might be a little hard to follow, but that’s expected with most superhero content. There’s nothing all that special about this manga, just the comedic interactions between a superhero and the ex-villainess that’s in love with her. I would recommend this manga to anyone interested in humorous yuri fluff.
I need to read the rest of these. The characters are so sweet and quirky. I can't wait to read more. I immediately bought the next books. I want to know the secrets that still need to be uncovered.
I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series. It was recommended to me by someone who finds it both hilarious and cute. For me, the tropes and gags didn't hit the same.
Superwomen in Love! Is fun in that ridiculous kind of way. Otherwise it was pretty meh. The romance was pretty weak with both protagonists going "wow so cute" and "wow so cute" it didn't feel like there was anything substantial at all. So I know this is an anime/manga trope but my goodness I see wlw books as an escape from the pervy trope so it's pretty frustrating when it shows up here. Further the story makes fun of manga/anime tropes which only condemns it as they purposefully included it still.
pure fluff. the outfits are skimpy and there's an annoying otaku/pervert character but this first volume is a fun and quick read. there isn't much reason that the villain falls in love with the hero, and their (so far one-sided) relationship isn't very deep or developed, but sometimes you just want to read a silly manga with some wlw thrown in. if you want the manga equivalent of junk food, you could do a lot worse than this series.
Yeah I was pretty much disappointed with this GL taking on the "Tiger & Bunny" route like we hardly get to see any girl superheroes in the Yuri/shoujo ai universe and they made a complete balls of this because it was just being way too cutesy than being serious here...
The series has a decent concept to it. What happens when a villainess from an evil organization falls in love with a young Heroine? Simple, the Villainess ends up living with the Heroine and trying her best to have the heroine fall in love with her. The series is funny, has some great moments, and Honey and Hayate are an adorable couple who will hopefully achieve something together in future volumes.
A fluffy, goofy manga about a villain hesitating to kill a hero she's crushing on, getting fired, and then defecting to go live with said hero. It's ENTIRELY just fluff and the characters have no depth, but sometimes you want to read something that's just uncomplicated and cute (and with a WLW bent). There's the main couple of the villain/hero (which is still just in flirting in this volume) and a side couple of two of the villains.
'Superwomen in Love!' is a cute manga about a transforming heroine and the villainess who falls for her and switches sides. It's full of low-stakes action and overly dramatic poses, and I love the banter that everyone does while mostly ignoring the war against humanity that's supposed to be happening. I'll be happily looking forward to the next volume!
This ended up being cuter and more wholesome than I expected. It really hit the spot, as this has been a garbage fire of a world year.
The art is consistently nice, although I would have liked a little bit of a longer lead-in to the main story than we got (although as it's manga, that kind of pacing wouldn't work well if this was a monthly published work, most likely).
Very cute series that pokes fun at the Sentai genre and general manga/anime tropes. Its a very fluffy yuri romance with a lot of exciting action sequences. Honestly, there isn't a ton to dislike about it other than the plot was very one-note or just very...shallow? But it wasn't trying to be anything deep, just a fun time. And it was a fun time!
This was really silly. It’s a comedic take on the superhero genre and even though it does seem self aware, it was too over the top for me. There wasn’t enough romance between the two main ladies for my taste, and the action sequences didn’t do anything for me. I had fun reading it but I won’t continue the series. 2.5 stars
3.5 rounded up... slow start??? love the premise but there are aspects of the world that still confuse me. it lays out the basics of each character quickly. i rlly want their relationship n characters to be taken more seriously but i’m excited to see where this goes. wish it was longer doe:-(
much more of a gag manga than a serious storyline of a villain and hero falling for each other. if you want lots of kamen rider jokes and a not relationship between one person who's fallen hard for the other who is clueless, give this a try?
Cute, with some funny moments. Manga is not usually my thing, it's a bit disturbing to me that I can't tell anyone's age. In addition, this felt very superficial compared to comics and graphic novels. Still cute and short read though
Ok, I love a good series that is self aware. This is hilarious and breaks the 4th wall a lot. My only problem which is why I deducted a star is that one of the characters, Honey Trap, is highly sexualized. But I plan to continue reading the series
Fun at first, but sooooo many tropes and gags you’ve seen before. The start was so interesting, but it went downhill... I really don’t have much more to say. Not continuing in the series.
