There are so many manga and graphic novels about living with cats, but this is one of my favorites. It’s quirky, it’s fluffy (the story, not just the cat), and it’s a fun quick read to brighten your day. If you are a cat-loving manga-reading person, check it out!

Light-hearted, episodic comic strips about a (usually) stone-faced man and an adorable cat. These comics are just wholesome and make me smile. Good for any age or non-catlovers too!

Hinata finds an abandoned cat one day and decides to adopt it. Enter Kyuu-chan, a really odd cat with some decidedly human tendencies. These two bond and bond some more and then construction work gets involved.

Wow this is slight. And that’s directly referencing both it’s 132 page length and it’s incredibly basic premise of ‘man and cat love one another very much’.

If the base level of affection far beyond that of the average feline didn’t give it away, Kyuu is not a typical cat. He’s not as clever as a human, but he’s pretty close. His naïveté and relationship with Hinata makes for a non-stop scroll of ‘aww’ moments.

I mean, there’s not that much to say. It gets a bit more serialized at the end when Kyuu-chan gets a job (I love this part far more than I should, also Kyuu needs a union stat), but these are just fluffy, tasty frothy bits like the foam on a latte and equally as substantive.

When the colouring on Kyuu’s feet turns out to be a pair of socks, I feel like that’s the moment where you’ll know if you like anything that this book is doing. I don’t hate it, but besides a few warm fuzzies there’s nothing much here. Just two best buds palling around and being adorable to each other.

3 stars, I mean, I can’t hate on a book that loves cats this much. This is just wholesome syrup and while I knocked the brevity, it’s also true that much more of this in one go might give you cavities. I’ll do another volume, but I can see this not being enough for some people.

(don’t worry, I am saving my line about how Kyuu-te it is for the second volume review)

I have both the Japanese language one and the one published by Seven Seas and I think SS did a great job in localizing it!

My only gripe is that there were no stickers like the JP version but that can be over looked.

The book is larger and feels heftier than the usual release but technically it's in full color! Kyuu-chan is adorable.

“It’s okay. I’m here, Kyuu-chan. We’re family right? We’ll always be together from now on.”

What if I say I cried in my schools library? What would you say then :3

My depression disappeared, and I will be wearing bow ties as of now (I will be so fashionable like Kyuu).

THIS IS SO PRECIOUS!!!

I am not a huge cat person, but goodness my heart felt so light after reading this manga! It's a really short read, but it also felt very fast-paced to me as I read almost of it in one sitting when waiting for my kiddos to get out of school in the car line!

Kyuu-Chan is soooo adorable and absolutely LOVED his antics!! He has such a big heart and truly loved him and Hinata's interactions together! It was even fun seeing Hinata slightly change as the manga progressed and made ME want to get a cat! LOL!

While this is targeted I think at adults, this is definitely a super kid-friendly story that is so sweet and fun to read! Each page has a title and only has four panels with (usually) little dialogue. I think it could be a great story to pull in younger readers who aren't excited about reading because the art is really cute and the colors are a beautiful pastel, making Wonder-Cat Kyuu-chan feel very "soft" as a whole.

This truly is just a relaxing and easygoing read! While the volumes are a little more expensive then what I would prefer to pay for manga, I am going to have to try and snag the rest of the series because this was just so delightful!

I read this weeks ago but completely forgot to update or write my review! So here it is!!

4 stars!!

This was such a cute short manga! I don't have a lot to say about it but this was so wholesome, the artstyle is so cute, and that cat is adorable!! Seeing how much kyuu loved his owner warmed my heart 😭. I'm definitely continuing this series asap and this was just such a nice, wholesome time. Definitely recommend it for anyone who enjoys wholesome manga/graphic novels, especially as it's in full color and doesn't follow the traditional manga format. So yeah if all that sounds appealing please check this out!!

Charming and nonsensical: a nice punchline-focused slice-of-life manga for kids about a man and his cat.

Readers should note that while the cat, Kyuu-chan, does indeed do some catlike things, he is very obviously not intended to be a literal cat. Rather, he is an expressive (but always silent) Snoopy-type comic character who sometimes sweeps the house with a broom or wears a bowtie.

Plenty of sight gags and surreally funny scenarios in which the upbeat and good-natured cat has the upper hand over his laid-back owner. The four-panel format means the jokes come very quickly and there's even a sweet little flip book animation hidden for readers in the bottom corner of the book. Great for young readers, pretty repetitive for everyone else. Recommended for libraries where American-style comic strips featuring clever animals are popular.

Kyuu-chan and Hinata's relationship begins in this book. It's such a cute book and two pages, in particular, my daughter just loves: Folding the Clothes and Look-Alike. :)
