Shuichi Shigeno (Japanese author profile: しげの秀一) is a manga artist, best known for the manga series Initial D. Shigeno has also created Bari Bari Densetsu, Dopkan, and Tunnel Nuketara Sky Blue ("First Love in Summer") all prior to the manga that would make him famous in 1995. In 1985, he received the Kodansha Manga Award in shōnen for Bari Bari Densetsu.

There we go, nice solid ending to stop at for now. Tak vs the pro in a close race. I thought Tomo was making an excuse for why he lost but I guess not, Tak finding he’d hit a small animal. The whole driving with no lights thing was insane. Curious where this one is going to go and where his loss is going to happen. That’s it for now on this one.

In the Manga series of Initial D I have found it very thrilling to this point and has extreme detail in the artistic work of the writer Shuichi Shingeno. This book had many different interesting scenes in it but my favorite would probably have to be the part when Takumi Fujiwara,(the driver of the Toyota AE86 Hachiroku),turned off the popup headlights and hid in the hidden line behind the driver of the EK9 ,Tomoyuki.I gave this book a overall 5/5 stars because I this series and it is amazing on the story plot. The characters and the cars become very easy to follow and enjoyable to see how they come up with ideas on how to win. Even the reactions of the loosing side is nice as the reader can get a stand point on how it feels on that side. the Dialog fits the characters appearance and is just another reason why I give this book what I did. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys racing, Drifting, cool cars, and lastly a thrilling experience of something new.

I’m finding this Project D arc to be much weaker than the opening Hatchi-Roku arc. And, that one wasn’t strong at all but still entertaining. The races just seem largely perfunctory despite some tension in this volume’s race. The animal death punchline isn’t great either. The cars are still beautifully drawn, the characters not so much. That said, I still managed to dive into the follow-up series, MF Ghost. Shuichi Shigeno sensei’s car art is really that good!

Yeah nah the mangaka literally glazes Tak because how are you gonna have him win against a professional racer and just have the racer go “man you got lucky I saw a skunk on the road” literally makes no sense. This whole volume set up Tak losing and then he wins like that? I wish they didn’t stick to the racing aspect of the series cause the romance was quite charming.

It is a good book I think it can be meant for people that are interested in cars and I really think it has a lot of excitement and it shows a lot of fearsomeness.
