Pales in comparisons to the first book.
First thing, the book is no longer LitRPG, it’s cultivation based now. I love cultivation but without the system they had in the first book things are less fun and jumping from one system to the other took out a lot of what I loved with the first book.
What dragged down this book for me is that everything goes incredibly right for them all the time. There are some bad situations but all of a sudden they are getting the greatest things in probably the galaxy, from weapons to crew mates to technology. It just sit right as a reader how “lucky” things go for Shaun and I hate the style of writing.
Also, the dialogue between everyone just doesn’t really work either. I thought I came to terms with how Ember and Shaun worked together but it just doesn’t fit in this book. Ember is a complete and utter asshole to Shaun all the time and it’s supposed to be “teasing” but it’s just straight up mean.
Still a OK book and will most likely pick up the the third when it’s released but I don’t see this being a favorite of mine.

Awesome book! Well plotted, great characters and good fun!
I like the character development. All of the characters chip in on decisions, so no alpha male and damsel in distress. Fun fight scenes, the humor is great. The oppression of the little guy and the fight for the marginalized to get their own back is uplifting in these times. Good light read despite the politics. Best book I’ve read in ages. His first book is great too!

Fast paced fun and hilarious. A good choice for David Weber ,John Ringo and Allan Cole Chris Bunch fans.

Great Fun
Lots of snark, action and humor. Oh, and some British slang and/or spelling too.
Much less LitRPG in this the second book.

The first book hit like that one night you never forget only you wake up and realize that it’s not over and you can live this way forever. Until suddenly you are running for your life from ancient humans across space and such. A fast paced, violent, race back to Earth with great world building, great characters and powers, and epic sci-fi moments.
Love the direction this series is going.

First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Second, I am not a bot...at least I don’t think I am. Yes this is copy pasta (just learned that term, so fun!) simply because I feel like any book I read deserves acknowledgement but at the same time my feelings on reviews conflict with the normal review process.
I enjoyed this book, so my goal is to promote it and help the author. If you are a potential reader, just stop reading now and take the above as all you need to know. I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. It is my opinion that Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. Or not if you don’t think this book is for you. That choice is all yours and the beauty of art appreciation. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.
If you are a member of the IAK Guild (thanks, Jason) or part of the review police, feel free to criticize me and challenge my philosophy on reviewing art. I think we all love a good debate. The forums are open and I welcome your comments. I was wrong in my previous request to get you to stop. Your blatant disregard for that request has led to some fun discussions. Book two
Mistakes: I found two before the 18% Mark but nothing else. This was a short fast read that I enjoyed more than book one.
Plot: Aliens, space, battles, ships, and more!
Characters: I don't mind big and dumb, but I don't like the way the female lead sometimes talks to or about the male lead. She is better in this book but needs to keep improving.

Good continuation, but Ember still an a** of a character. Sincerely I have no idea what's Shaun infutation with her. The world gets a drastic expansion, not to mention the weirdness of the ending.

Solid follow up
I wasn't too sure going into this, seemed like a wild twist from the first book. Gotta tell you, it works. If you enjoyed the first then you'll enjoy this one.

I liked the 1st one, but not the 2nd one.
I am sure this didn't happen, but it is almost like 1st book was written on spec, it got bought, and they want 2 more, "What am I going to do now?"
Don't get me wrong, I couldn't do this good. The problem is that you are sure that no one is going to die. He does have good instincts. For example, he learns to become a lie detector because of an incident earlier in book. I have read books where I know the characters aren't going to die, but I am wondering how are they going to get out of this? That just isn't here.

Fun
Fairly standard fare for a space opera, but decently written and I can see several more books gathering strength before it is "save the earth" time. Only knock against it is how ,with fixable mental stats, both MCs keep wasting time, especially when it is out of character for one of them. It is somewhat understandable for the other MC, since a lot of the charm is his cluelessness.

I liked it
I would like it more if Ember wasn’t such a horrible and negative person. Shaun is constantly having his intelligence questioned but he seems like a likable person. It escapes me why he loves such a toxic woman. I’m not sure I’ll keep reading because of her constant negativity.

A new universe. It's ti,e for an Uprising
Always excited to find a new author of well written Litrpg. Funny, thoughtful, a growing storyline that is leading to more excitement. Challenging situations where dedication made by our bumbling hero somehow are the opposite of what most would do, but turn out to be the right choice both morally and to save their behinds

From fantasy to sci-fi
Good transition. Book 2 was better than book 1 and rather enjoyable. Entertaining and exciting new journey for our main characters with new friends along the way.

Great Continuation!
Sooo... I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a huge space fan, so I almost didn't read book two , but I'm so glad I did! The segway into the rest of story was great, and the non-stop action kept it very exciting! Looking forward to book 3!

Simple but fun
Sinclair takes a pretty straightforward approach to his writing, but it works. Really fascinating worldbuilding. The plot definitely took some turns I wasn't expecting, but that just made it more interesting in my mind. In to the next book!

Cracking Drama
The story has now taken us into space and into a burgeoning rebellion in the making. With so much happening Sinclair has made this super easy to turn each page with likeable characters, fortuitous events, and cool action scenes.

A great sequel
