Dayon's life seems perfect, his boxing career is on a steady rise, his money is great and he has the love of his life, Toya, his fiancee by his side through it all. The only thing missing are the kids he plans to have with Toya. Toya on the other hand is focused on her career and has no time for kids. That along with another secret Toya has may stop the wedding before it can happen. Will Toya give in to Dayon's request for children? Can she keep the ultimate secret from Dayon until they say I do? Ryder's only priority is taking care of her ill little brother. This wasn't how she envisioned her life but when her parents abandon their responsibilities she has no choice but to provide for her brother, even if that means sacrificing her dignity and stripping. One chance encounter may just change Ryder's life forever but at what cost? Can she stay focused or will her heart's desires take over? Amina and Quentin are what everyone refers to as "relationship goals" but behind close doors they fight constantly about Amina's chosen profession, stripping. All the love in the world can't make Quentin accept her job and this causes more drama than either of them are prepared to deal with. The arguing and stress will cause one of them to stray only to realize in the end it was a mistake. Will Amina and Quentin be able to work through their drama and make the love last or will it be too much to handle? Will love make Amina reconsider her job? Love is a powerful thing and in this standalone novel, everyone is faced with decisions about their love and personal lives that they never expected. Who will end up with who? How many regrets will their be in the end?

He Ain't Your Ordinary Bae was definitely NOT an ordinary love story. This book was a good and messy read and I was here for it. An up and coming boxer, who happens to be engaged, falls for a shy stripper. When afternoon delight shenanigans turn into an unexpected pregnancy, Dayon works overtime to keep his secret baby from his fiancé and keep his fiancé from his baby mama. Whew chile, the ghetto! Quentin is pressuring his girlfriend to give up stripping because, it’s no longer a good look for him. When Amina refuses to stop stripping, this ninja cheats as a punishment. Yes, you heard me right. This dude cheats on his girlfriend because, she won't do what he tells her to do. Ninjas really ain't shyt. When he gets caught, lets just say Q shows his true colors. Then we have trash azz Toya. In my Tony Baker’s voice, she was a real piece of work. Toya lied, lied again then, lied some more. Oh, but in the end, those lies caught up with her. That plot twist about her past had me floored! All the skeletons in her closet fell out for Dayon to see. Chiiiiiile, that revelation was scandalous! I had a blast reading He Ain't Your Ordinary Bae. These characters were a hot azz mess but, I loved all of them.
I stayed past my bedtime because I couldn't put this book down. I had to see how things would play out. I wanted to shake Dayon for dealing with Toya. She was very selfish, but I didn't think she was hiding that type of secret. Ryder was perfect for Dayon. I loved how she did what she needed to do for her brother. Their parents were trash. I thought the father would have some type of remorse, but he didn't. Amina and Q had their drama, and I didn't expect that Red situation to come up. She was trash too. I'm glad everything worked out for them. I didn't want the story to end.
I loved Trevor and his will to not give up and keep fighting. Ryder was a great sister and person altogether. I was rooting for her and Dayon since the beginning. Toya didn't deserve Dayon she was focused on her career than making time for both. I'm glad Q and Amina worked everything out. Great job this is one of the best standalones that I've read.
Not my cup of tea at all!!!! So bad in every single page
This was definitely not what I thought it would be. I wouldn’t have waisted my time reading this at all. Everyone was weak except for Toya. At least her she was straight and open since the beginning. You see what you get with her and for that she is the reason for me to even give this a rating because truthfully it was not worth it... will definitely not recommend this book
Decent novel. Enjoyed the storyline. Ending was very nice. Gave 3 stars-proofread proofreads-several spelling errors and wrong words and every placement of words throughout novel. I did figure out Toya would find out about Dayin and Ryder at the do tor visit way before she did, would rather the writing of that part he more unexpected. Here I was feeling sorry for Toya's selfish ass only to realize she was worse than I thought. Dayon went about things all wrong but in the end Ryder gave him the one thing he truly wanted. Trevor's health had me in tears and I was pissed with their parents. Just knowing their parents bailed so easily had me wishing I could jump in the book to knock their heads off. I thought Q and Amina were a trip but I couldn't believe he tried to play her. Red was beyond thirsty and should've known things wouldn't last. Q and Amina needed the break to actually realize the pain they'd caused the other. I was so happy for Dayon not only succeeding in his career but also allowing himself to be with the one that captured his heart. Ryder definitely went above and beyond for Trevor without any complaints. Trevor made Ryder put a lot of things into perspective and I was happy he played a part in helping her change her mind about the agreement with Dayon. Dayon sure wasn't the ordinary bae but I loved what he built with Ryder.
This was really good, I literally couldn’t stop reading once I started and almost finished in one setting. The chemistry between Ryder and Dayon was undeniable. Dayon found in Ryder what he couldn’t get at home. Now I don’t condone him cheating but Toya was sneaky and selfish as hell. She didn’t deserve Dayon anyway with the lies and secrets she was keeping. He’s better off with Ryder and she’s good for him regardless of how they started I loved them together.
My heart broke for Trevor and I literally shed a tear when the doctor said he was in remission, I can’t help it I’m sensitive.
Amina and Q was doing too much. She couldn’t understand why he didn’t want the woman he loved taking off her clothes for other men to see and he let his feelings about her dancing lead him to the bed of another woman. I liked them together and glad they found their way back to one another.
First off let me just say Tay you did that! Way to come through! I’ve been waiting for another good boxing book! There were so few out there. This book was 🔥🔥🔥🔥! I knew from the first chapter Toya wasn’t ish but I wasn’t expecting that mess wow! She clearly had some deep seeded issues no one knew about. That being said I am I no way condoning that hot mess that poor Dayon had going on! I mean he is Bae don’t get me wrong! And I completely understand I do! But there were other ways to go about it lol! Toya needed a butt kicking! Amina & Q play all day I thought they would never get it together! Trevor & Ryder parents were trifling and just sad! Trevor was my favorite character him and Ryder! I saw a lot of myself in her! Phenomenal job! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next!
Ryder is that bih! The way she went hard to take care of Trevor and herself was everything. Loved her and Dayon from the beginning. Knew it would get messy if Dayon didn't handle his business, because they were match made. But Dayon was getting on my nerves being wishy washy when he knew that he wasn't feeling his girl anymore! I knew there was something fishy about Toya (I hate that she shares my name) 😄. She was just doing too much to not have a baby. That revelation was scandalous! Amina and Q. These two were in love love for sure, but definitely not on the same page. Then all that drama, to just come back full circle. They were cute, but a mess! Enjoyed these characters. Good read. 👍👍👍
I loved this book and the characters, although flawed you couldn’t help but love them and stay in their corner, praying they get it right and they did!
Ryder is my Shero, she stayed true to herself and fought through obstacles most would never survive, I mean look at her mom. And I was so glad Amina found her happy ever after too!
I was disappointed in the number of typos and grammatical errors which is not typical for this author. There were some places in the book where I wasn’t sure who was speaking, but I think it was more of the way the sentences were structured. And I have to admit, the misuse of your and you’re throughout the book was disappointing as well.
Great standalone and I loved it. I couldn't get enough and it held my attention from beginning to the end. Loved the storyline and these characters and it flowed really well. Really loved Ryder character and she was so strong, had a big heart and was so giving. She sacrificed everything for Bud and put him before herself and her happiness. The chemistry between her and Dayon was at first sight and I'm glad they were able to work everything out and get their happy ending. This standalone left no stones unturned and loved the way it ended. Tay Mo'Nae, your writing gets better and better. Job well done and I can't wait to see what's next from you.
This is a standalone? I need more from these couples. I absolutely love Ryder and Dayon! Their relationship might have started off complicated but it ended perfectly. Love at first sight. And Amina and Q. They're adorable. A true example of a couple that can get through anything. Oh and poor Trevor. Every time he took sick I shed a tear. Having cancer is horrible and nothing you want to deal with. And Toya gotta catch these hands so point her out and let me tag that ass. Overall great book. Hands down one of the best!
I love love this book i love me some Ryder she was a great big sister to her brother i loved the love she had for him. I loved Dayon to he was lost with his fiancé but he got it together at the end i knew that he wanted to be with Ry but didn’t know how to tell Toya. Toya was messed up for lying to Day knowing she couldn’t have kids and already had a daughter that’s just ashame. Amina and Q made a great couple they had a bump in the road but glad they got over it I’m really enjoyed this book. Whatever Taylor writes i know it’s going to be a banger great job
This standalone was great...I wish it was a series so much more I wanna read...Day really wanted a family and I can see why,he was a loner...Ryder was a savage n had a big heart..The things she did for her brother was amazing..Day and Ryder met kind of crazy but i im happy they both got what they needed out each other LOVE & FAMILY...Amina and Q I thought wasn't going to make it..Toya was way to damn selfish for me..I loved the ending...This was really a great book!!!
All Dayon wanted was someone to love him, accept his career and start a family with. All the things he needed and couldn't get from his soon to be wife Toya he quickly found in Ryder. When a pregnancy came out of a one night stand Dayon quickly found himself slowly falling for her. Dealing with some challenges of her own being forced to parent her brother Trevor, Ryder does everything possible to raise him after being abandoned by their parents when they found out he had cancer. There were a lot of obstacles to face but they overcame them all.
This book was EVERYTHING and more! I can’t believe Toya turned out like that. How could she be so selfish!? I’m happy Dayon and Ryda stopped playing and got it together in the end and became a family. Trevor was bratty but he loved his sister whole heartedly! I was always TeamQ, I liked Shoota but he wasn’t the one for Amina! Great standalone. Loveeee Tay Monae and she’s only getting better!
from the first chapter I knew Toya ass was shady, and I didnt like her. Dayon should have kept it real with Ryder but all things happen for a reason and play out when they should. I understood Q wanting more for Amina and I'm glad she saw it too. I love the love Ryder had for her brother. Great story, you are turning into a beast with these books. Keep up the good work
It was a good love story with a lot of drama. Ryder big heart and care ways made you want something good to happen to her. I couldn't for the life of me understand why dayon even stayed with toya. She was in love with the fact of having a husband . Amina and Quentin was good because it really how men that get with strippers really act. Taylor writing has gotten better especially her love scenes. It was good book.
For this to be your first stand alone you did the damn job. I couldn't put the book down even burn dinner....my kids say that but cant but that good....i say shittttttt its great. I love me some Ryder how strong who a women she was to take on the responsibility was lot.... But that damn Toya was a hot mess and selfish is not word for i couldn't believe her. I really enjoyed continue to bring us great books
Dayon only wanted what was right. Ryder went through so much to get where she needed to be. Loved Ryder relationships with both Trevor and Dayon.Dayon desires-never change from Day 1. What is there to say about Toya.. she played a dangerous game and lost!! Looking forward to reading more from this author. Loved Dayon..he was wrong but so right!! Quentin & Amina were extra and needs their own story.
This was my first time reading a book by this Author, and I'm glad I did. It was such a great book. I love Ryder and how hard she went for her brother. At one point she did get on my nerves when she wanted to give up the baby smh. Amina should've understood where Q was coming from about not wanting another dude to see what belonged to him. I'm glad they got it together. I like Dayon even though he had a couple shady moments but otherwise I real deal loved him.
Good job on writing your standalone! It was good... No loose ends, no lingering questions, or missing pieces. but...... I'm all for happy endings all...... But uh, no Dayon. I am NOT feeling you bruh! Tuh! I could NOT have been Amina and had Ryder as my close friend. She would have heard my mouth constantly behind Dayon lol. I know you can't help who you love but Dayon made some poor choices, but I guess if he did it differently then there'd be no book! Lol. Great job!
Dayon and Ryder may have gotten caught up in a situationship. But life has a way of separating the real from the fake. Time doesn't always equate to a better relationship and Ryder proved how someone new can have better intentions and support than someone Dayon invested years in. Also sometimes it takes almost losing out in love for Amina and Q realize just what they had. Loved Ryders heart and love for her brother too.
This was such a good read just enough drama Q loved his Amina but didn’t see Red coming a mile away now Ryder and Dayon just need to stop fighting the attraction from Jump but day was wrong for leaving her I the dark about Toya true status in his life but I didn’t feel sorry after I found out how far her selfishness went…. After you read it you’ll want to smack Toya too
Dayon and Ryder!!!!! I’m going to miss these two I was questioning Dayton’s character but in the end Im happy it ended how it did Tay never disappoints she’s come such a long way in a short time the book was very well put together and just flew so excited to see what she’s going to put out next
Book was really good. It started off slow but it was enough going on to make u wanna see what happens next. Jonathan coming and dropping the bomb shocked the hell out of me. I really would’ve liked more insight on Dayon and Toya’s relationship as well as Amina and Q. Trevor was my favorite lol he was so smart and witty. Had questions at the end but really good read.
The relationship between these characters were great. Dayon was torn between what he wanted and what he knew and all Ryder wanted was to be loved and take care of her brother. The way their relationship developed was described flawlessly. The relationship between Q and Aminea was the drama that kept it flowing without it being too deep. I loved this story!
I loved loved this one. I wanted to slap Dyson and Q a few times but over all a great read. I won’t even get in the heads Toya. I loved how unselfish Ryder was and care me for her brother. I’m glad Amina and Q got their ish together, Red and Shoota wasn’t a good look. Over all it was the bomb. I love series, but I also love a good stand alone.
