Sarah lives in California, in a home that brings her happiness and hay fever. She loves God, loves her family, and loves freshly brewed coffee. She has a husband who cooks, a son who stop animates, a daughter who loves animals, a dog that follows her everywhere, and a turtle who scowls at her condescendingly.

Her mother raised her on Mary Higgins Clark, Diane Mott Davidson, and Remington Steele. Her grandmother shared True Crime stories with her as they plotted how to get away with the perfect murder. It's no surprise that Sarah became an award-winning spinner of suspenseful tales brimming with quirky characters. Mysteries are in her blood. Not that she could survive one of her own stories. She confesses, "I'd be snuffed out by chapter two."

When determination without discrimination collides with fear, the consequences can be fatal

Lydia yet again finds herself in an uncomfortable situation and finds it difficult to stay out of danger afterwards. Was she the true target? Was a true crime author who looked a lot like her the target? Or are they both victims of another serial in the area?

Young Penny seems to struggle with a gift of insights into serious or dangerous situations. Sadly the poor girl seems to fear it is her bad luck that is the impetus for the events

Poor Ivy has settled with Ethan and Lydia. Her beautiful baby girl seems to be thriving. New challenges appear on that front as well as relationships past and present are negotiated

Intense friendships, built families, and collateral damage

Attempting to get back to a peaceful life in Honey Pot after a harrowing experience, Lydia relaxes at the 3 Alarm Coffee. However, unusual circumstances place her squarely in danger. I have enjoyed reading this series, and especially in this mystery with the introduction of the gifted Penny.
