My family’s reputation and livelihood is at stake. Everything we’ve worked for could be crushed into the dust. Terrified. Utterly lost. And completely alone. I’m caught up in a messy web of lies, secrets and destruction. And Brent Coleman is the only one who can save me.
A brother's best friend/bodyguard forbidden romance set in Sarah Bailey's Dark Universe. This is a standalone in an interconnected series.

Sarah writes dark, contemporary, erotic and paranormal romances. They adore all forms of steamy romance and can always be found with a book or ten on their Kindle. They love anti-heroes, alpha males and flawed characters with a little bit of darkness lurking within. Their writing buddies nicknamed Sarah: 'The Queen of Steam' for their pulse racing sex scenes which will leave you a little hot under the collar.
Born and raised in Sussex, UK near the Ashdown Forest, they grew up climbing trees and building Lego towns with their younger brother. Sarah fell in love with novels as a teenager reading their aunt's historical regency romances. They have always loved the supernatural and exploring the darker side of romance and fantasy novels.
Sarah currently resides in the Scottish Highlands with their husband. Music is one of their biggest inspirations and they always have something on in the background whilst writing. They are an avid gamer and are often found hogging their husband's Xbox.
Brent has worked for Dante Benson for over a decade, and Jen has hated him the whole time. Or has she? When her twin, Fi reveals she is in a relationship with their therapist, Jen turns to Brent for comfort. The fourth story of this series tells their tale, but with complications from both families and a threat from outside. Brilliant characters, a thrilling tale and hot scenes. Terrific.
Protect Sarah Bailey While I love this author and this series, I hated the way Max was allowed to blackmail Jen and wished she confided earlier with Brent or Dante to help her. She had already been victimized and sexually abused as a teen, trying to get past the PTSD, and emotional trauma through therapy as well as dealing with her twin sister finding the love of her life. I felt really heartbroken for Jen as she was again being forced into something she did not want to do. I loved the love/hate relationship she had with Brent. The dual POVs were well written and enhanced the storyline especially with Brent’s internal confession of his love for Jen and his yearning for her during the twelve years knowing her. I got a bit angry at Dante for the way he allowed her to be exposed and vulnerable to Max knowing Jen hated the thought of working with him. While I wanted to give this a five star rating, I just wasn’t satisfied with the way Max and Jen’s father seemed to get off lightly with their evil behavior. Max was truly horrible and his vile words and actions towards Jen at the end were painful to read. I really wanted him to pay for his actions. I guess I’m a bit more bloodthirsty than the author. Kudos to the author for creating this emotional angst filled series that was gripping, graphic, and intense.

Protect is the fourth book in the Benson Siblings series by Sarah Bailey and it is just was wonderful as the first three. This story centers on Jennnifer and Brent and is a fitting conclusion to the entire series. These two are an interesting mix as she has always hated him and he has always loved her. He drove her crazy because she thought he was rude and they bickered and squabbled constantly. But as Jen was his best friend's younger sister Brent knew that she was in the proverbial "no go" zone. But perceptions and emotions start to change when Jen finally confides in both Brent and Dante what is happening to her. Brent will do anything he can to protect her and in doing so he may also be able to finally get his girl, the one that completes his soul.
The author has once again written a story that sucks you in from the first page and takes the reader on an emotion roller-coaster ride. Some twists and turns you can see coming and others just take the wind out of you as you drop from a great height. This is another really fabulous story and interesting conclusion to the series.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I loved this story but you will want to read the other books first. You can read this as a stand alone but the story will have so much more depth with the others read first. That being said, I loved this story. Jen, with her baggage and chip on her shoulder was amazingly strong and forceful. I loved her not mushy sentiments and cheered her on her journey. Brent was uber hot and wore his heart on his sleeve. I enjoyed how he thought he was so clever in hiding his emotions. Quite a love story.

Protect by Sarah Bailey is the fourth and final book in the Benson Siblings series which focuses on Jennifer Benson’s secret and Brent Coleman, who is her brother’s best friend. This book is a PHENOMENAL dark romance which you can’t put down. I highly recommend this book (as well as the complete series)!

I really enjoyed Jen and Brent's book if like me you have read and enjoyed the previous books in this series then you won't want to miss this one it is another good well-written book that you won't want to put down I really enjoyed it.
These two. Jen is stubborn and mean as all hell, while Brent loves to push her buttons and rile her up. But they both are full of it, and have wanted each other for over a decade. Brent has loved Jen from the sidelines in silence while Jen chose to hate him on the surface refusing to accept her deep rooted feelings for him.
Jen is still upset about being the last to know about Fiona and Jenson and turns to the last person you would think she would. Brent is not only her older brother’s best friend but he’s been in charge of the the family’s safety for years. So they agree to one night. But Jen finds herself constantly thinking about him and Brent is avoiding her because he could never imagine betraying Dante.
There’s so much back and forth with these two that your head will spin. But when it comes down to what they really want, and when they finally realize they both are all in? All bets are off. Talk about a whirlwind romance. I love these two. Both of them are so concerned about family and protecting others that they sacrifice their own happiness. But we finally get to that point when they can’t take it anymore and they have to be together, no matter what anyone says.
Bittersweet for me at the end of this one. I have loved all of these characters and didn’t want it to end. Loved that all of the Benson siblings got their HEAs, because holy hell did they deserve it.
Brent is the bodyguard and friend of Dante. He is trusted with helping him and his family. Brent met one of his sisters, Jen, when her and her twin sister Fi had gone through something very traumatic. He knew right them he wanted to be more than Dante's bodyguard. He wanted more with Jen. She didn't know how to feel about her feelings so she pushed them away and pretended to hate him. With her twin Fi and her therapist Jenson lying to her about being together she's heart broken. She runs to Brent when she can't handle it. Will he finally get through to her that they belong together or will Jen run?
Jen is such a strong firecracker. She has a fierce attitude and wild emotions. I enjoyed her growth. Brent loving her forever is so cute. When Jen ran to Brent after what Fi and Jenson told her I was very excited. Max is a terrible person. I will always hate Zach with a passion. When Brent helped Jen move back home and was hit with emotions was unexpected. Them getting closer was extraordinary. Brent is a good brother and uncle. The exiting news Jen had for Brent shocked me. Sarah undoubtedly made me cry again. So beautiful. This was the perfect ending to this series.
This is a great end to the Benson Siblings series, with Jen hooking up with Brent. Me I liked him for Jen from the beginning and I am glad that is how it worked out. This book has several good sex scenes and a nice HEA ending Epilogue. I now am going to look for other books by the same author. I read this series after the Corrupt Empire series and it was very worth it and I am sure that the next series will be worth it as well.
Protect by Sarah Bailey is the seventh and final book in the Corrupt Empire series. We’ve examined every other sibling, but for the finale we dig into the remaining identical twin girl, Jen. While experiencing no less trauma or hardship than anyone else in this family, Jen’s personality seems to use a rougher edge as a coping mechanism. She’s been called everything from a “handful,” to a “maddening woman” to something I’m sure could be akin to “bitch,” but one person has seen through most of that. Brent, who we first met as a bodyguard of sorts for the Benson siblings, took a special shine to Jen when they first met. A few days shy of 16, and after unspeakable sexual abuse from her own father rendering her temporarily mute, Brent rightly bottles down those emotions and focuses on protecting this family on the brink of collapse. Still, you can’t be this close to someone and hide from those feelings forever. With Brent’s own embarrassing family pushing him closer to the Bensons on a personal level, and the rest of Jen’s siblings finding their true love, can we fight the inevitable? Fuck no we can’t!
It’s not like true love is going to come easy of course. This is dark romance with Sarah Bailey at the helm after all. Jen is locking her feelings away and comes off to most people as someone who is cold and rough. She makes claims to hate Brent as a defense mechanism, but deep down, she can’t fight how she feels. Her therapist can only help so much, especially as his heart belongs to Jen’s twin sister. By this point, the number of moving parts involved would crush the sole remaining uncoupled family member if she didn’t have someone to begrudgingly lean on like Brent. The conflict Brent has to endure is the most relatable, despite the crazy circumstances. An instant mutual attraction to someone “not quite” legal. To literally have to protect that girl from the evils of the world. A household that can’t stop finding new and taboo ways to fornicate. What the actual fuck did we think was going to happen?!
The writing in these tales is top notch when it comes to conveying mood. This impossibly rich family can’t seem to stay out of trouble as a certain business relationship permits the chance for the Benson deep dark secrets to come to light. What’s most frightening is how easily the Benson family exposed themselves to this potential. At times I find this family fucking bewildering, this yearning to be normal despite having infinite money and an amount of skeletons in the closet that would make Charles Manson blush. And to this point, the antagonist is clearly taking advantage in the same way the classic late season cop show character that gets the inside track on all the misdoings of the antiheroes. Max, the business associate/bad guy is his own brand of scum, but it can’t excuse the family’s past on its own. The family needs saving from themselves, and quite frankly no blood relative should be up to this task. This is what makes Brent such an important character. To an outside observer, he’s a hired goon for the 1%ers, keeping as much of this family’s past locked away. However, his love interest (and thankfully to the reader), his meager beginnings are portrayed with chilling accuracy through his vice-addicted family provide balance to the series’ conflicts. Jen has to see how the most unfortunate live, and briefly experience the turmoils of alcohol abuse and poverty instead of billion dollar blackmails and blood contracts. Much of what made the original trilogy of Corrupt Empire so charming (in it’s fucked up way) was the use of blue collar spirited “fixers” as the true heroes. There’s nothing more infuriating in fiction than an over privileged little bitch lauded for saving the day with his ability to hold all the cards and take care of business serving his own interests. This empire needed a roughneck antihero to survive in the first place, and to persist once and for all the call to action rings again in the exploration of Brent, and its marvelous.
Verdict: Protect by Sarah Bailey is a fitting conclusion to a magnificent dark romance series (and sub series) tying a wonderful bow around a memorable family of characters. The varying degrees of “dark” elements over each of the novels keeps the reader in perpetual suspense, and allows us to simply enjoy the ride instead of presuming the variables, with this novel being no different. This is the last battle for the Bensons, but it’s one that if defeated, could ruin everything we’ve spent the last year of our real lives falling in love with. Without the kindness of others, this family couldn’t be saved from themselves. This high task is met by a fantastic character that seems most suited to save not only the Bensons, but save his own family as well. Brent is everything we need in this male lead. No selfish endeavors, no personal blood oaths to his own accord, he’s simply here to save the day. The Happily Ever After is there as promised, but maybe not how you’d imagine it from page one. Maybe it’s best we don’t get our conclusions served up exactly the way we anticipate them. At the end of the day, most every reader might rather want to exclaim #iWannaMarryBrent.
Special thanks to Sarah Bailey for providing an advance review copy of Protect to TehBen.com. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have read and enjoyed all of Sarah’s books in the Corporate Empire series and the Benson Siblings series and I have to say I think that Protect, Jen and Brent’s story, is my favorite out of the lot of them. Each story is emotional and heart-wrenching and revolves around the horrors the siblings faced from their youth and the steps they have taken individually and as a family unit to reconnect, heal and move forward with their lives and looking ahead to finding happiness and closure with their pasts. It is best if this series is read in order and it would also help to read the Corporate Empire series first.
I was really looking forward to Jen and Brent’s story and Sarah did not disappoint. She gave them a wonderful story and wrapped up the series beautifully. My heart ached for Jen through each page of this read; the emotions swirling around her, the horrific memories from her youth, the feeling of betrayal to overcome from her twin sister and therapist, the stresses of her position at their family company, the threat of blackmail and exposure, and her extremely complicated and emotional relationship with Brent, the family bodyguard and her brother’s best friend. This story was a true tailspin and just felt more emotional to me, not that the rest of the siblings' books were not emotional, but there just seemed to be a bit more depth to this story overall; I guess maybe because it also included the wrap up for the series.
Jen has so much to work through in this book and her inner fire and strength really shine as she dealt with it all. And having the help, support, and love from her family and most of all Brent truly helped her to let go and move forward to be happy. And I have to say I really loved her happy in the end.
Brent’s background was also surprising as we get to see more of his own family and upbringing and learn what all he has to deal with aside from the Benson’s family drama. Though he did not have the abuse the Benson’s faced, he still had his own messed up childhood and emotional turmoil to deal with as well as his complicated relationship and feelings for Jen. He stayed in the background of Sarah’s other books so it was nice to see him front and center in this one and see him have his happy ending too.
Protect is a well-written, absorbing, emotional, intense story and a wonderful ending to the Benson siblings series. The characters are enjoyable and relatable and the drama, as well as twists and turns, are engaging and consistent and will draw you in from page to page. A wonderful read!

OMG WHAT A STORY. ITS JUST A FANTASTIC READ. Wish i could give you more stars !!!!! WOW WOW WOW WOW I have read all of Sarah Baileys books and learning about Bensen siblings had been amazing but heart breaking at the same time. Please read these books in order so you fully understand this family. Jennifer had an awful childhood, hurt in the most disgusting way but someone who should of guarded her with his life but he choose to be a monster who terrorised his family. This is one emotional read about a girl who learns to trust once again . Jen runs to the one man who you never would of thought of. As they fight like cat and dog but when Jen argues with her twin, Brent is the one she runs too. When Brent sees her he knows she has found out about her twin and the therapist being in a relationship. He knew Jen would feel like this was a betrayal but you cant help who you fall in love with. Brent knows this himself. 'There are so many twist and turns in their story, its heart breaking but also amazing seeing these two come together. But are they strong enough to stay together??? I am so gutted that this is the last book in the Bensen Siblings Series. But I'm also very excited to see what Sarah Bailey has in store for us next. Sarah's books are so addictive and take you though every emotion known to man.

This was a wonderful book. It didn't seem rushed. This was sweet and steamy, full of romance and passion with great characters that were interesting enough to draw you in.
Protect is Jen and Brent's storie and the last book in the Bensen siblings series. You might want to read the first three books in this serie first. I also would recommend reading The corrupt empire serie first before the Bensen siblings.
Jennifer as always hated her brother best friend. She think he's rude and drive her totally crazy. Until one night after a fight with her twin sister everything fell apart and things starts to change between them.
Brent always have love Jennifer from the first time he saw her but the feelings where complicated. Also Jen as been abused as a teen. Now she's trying to get past her trauma and is going to therapy.
I have really love the love and hate relationship the two of them have. Also have love to learn more about Brent past.
I have received an arc of this book from the author.
This is the fourth book in the Benson Siblings series, and the story of Jen Benson. After a fight with her twin, Jen is left feeling alone, and abandoned, and she turns to Brent for comfort. Brent has always had feelings for Jen, but he is her brother best friend, and their relationship has always been fraught with misunderstandings, and dislike. With her world closing in on her, and secrets from her past come back to haunt her, can Brent, and Jen find their way to HEA? This was another great read in the series, the characters, are well written, and their story captivated me. This was emotional, intense, suspenseful, mysterious, and dramatic. This is series is a must read!

Brent was in love with Jen from the day he met her. But Jen could not stand him and they were forever bickering. When Jen felt betrayed by her twin sister she needed someone who would listen and ended up with him. And once she let herself be vulnerable the chemistry between them could not be denied. Even though she did not know about his real feelings for her something kept drawing her back to him and even though they tried there was no going back to before. But given everything Jen went through, will she be able to take this chance at happiness? This is, like the previous books in the series, such an emotional story with strong characters. I was hooked from the start and could not put it down.

So many ups and downs in this series, but from the very beginning of the first book it completely captivated you, I loved every book and all the characters, all the books had a great storyline and were all leading to this one, I think along with the characters you knew that something special was building with Jen and Brent, and their story did not disappoint, I won’t go into detail because you definitely want to read this book yourself but can’t help but say it has the most perfect of endings 🥰, really sad we’ve come to the end.

OMG, I loved the entire Benson Siblings series and I'm sad to see it end with Jen and Brent's story! Ms. Bailey sure knows how to weave a gripping, addictive story. She brings the steam along with angst, tears, and twists and turns! I love her writing style and her imperfect characters. I can't say enough about the series! Read it and get sucked into the Benson Sibs universe, you'll be glad you did.
I don't want to post any spoilers, but I'm so damned happy with the ending of the book and how it gave us a glimpse of the siblings and where they were in their relationships! My heart is happy, and I can't wait to read more from Ms. Bailey!!
This is the fourth book in the Benson Siblings series. This is Jen and Brent's story. Jen finds her world turned upside down and the only person left to turn to is her brother's best friend. They have always fought and have never seen eye to eye. Can Brent be the rock and security that Jen needs? Another great story in the series that wraps it all up with a neat little bow. I have loved reading this author since the Corrupt series and cannot wait to see what comes out next. Enjoy!

I have loved reading this author with this series and the one before. With the ending it had so much and finally seeing where the family finally got to land on their feet after so much happened in their past. The author had me engaged with the first book of the first series and I couldn't stop till the last page of this book of this series.

Jennifer is one of the twins. She was abused in the past. She met Brent twelve years ago. Brent’s secretly jonesing on her the whole time, but he’s part of the Benson family. Until, Jen went to her nemesis, Brent when she had a tantrum over her twin and her therapist.
Brent is great. He finally gets Max.
4.5

This is Jen and Brent's story. Jen is feeling betrayed by the relationship between her twin sister and her therapist. She turns to Brent, the one person who can tell Jen and Fiona apart, despite the fact that they have fought for most of their lives. Can anything happen between them with Jen's past history?
This can be read as a standalone, but it is better read in series.

The writing will draw you in after only a few pages and have you finishing the book in one sitting. There is the perfect amount of angst and romance and grit to keep you hooked.

This is actually Benson Siblings series book 4 but it can be read as a stand alone. Be warned, if you do read it as a stand alone, you will soon be going to look for all the other books in the Corporate Empire series and the Benson Siblings series. Although, Jen and Brent’s story, is my favorite out of the lot of them.

This is the last book in the series. We get to see what Jen does after reeling from her twin sister's news that she is dating their therapist. This is the classic bodyguard/brother's best friend combo. I just felt that Jen and Brent's push and pull relationship was sometimes quite annoying to me. I did enjoy the storyline though.
This is the story about Jennifer and Brent. I have to say that it was my least favorite in the series. Maybe because it's been a while since I read previous books, so I definitely recommend to read the previous three. So 3.5 stars for me. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a great read. I always enjoy reading about people overcoming their struggles but this series goes even deeper with the kind of struggles the children had to overcome and how strong they are as s family. There's a dark theme to this struggle but it doesn't really go into great detail making this story not tremendously dark at all. I enjoy seeing them all get their happily even after.
