Death Note Manga is a Japanese manga series . The storyline follows a high school student who falls upon a supernatural laptop from a shinigami named Ryuk that allows its user the power to kill anyone whose name and face he understands, Light Yagami. The series centres around Light's subsequent attempts to make and rule a world "cleansed of evil" as a "God" using this located laptop, as well as the efforts of a detective called L to stop him. Light Yagami is a blase young prodigy who resents all things bad. His life experiences a radical change when he falls upon the "Death Note", a laptop that kills anyone whose name is written inside. After testing with all the laptop, its credibility is confirmed by Light and is joined through an unexpected house guest - the previous owner of the laptop, a shinigami called Ryuk. Light tells Ryuk of his plan to exterminate all of the individuals he considers unfair and wrong in the planet, until only individuals whom he's deemed truthful and type stay. Once he ends creating this utopia, he means to rule over it as the self proclaimed "God of the new world".

This series hasn't disappointed once so far and to make matters worse there was an amazing plot twist at the end which just made me fall in love with it even further. At first I thought that these books were receding in quality and thought that the story had nowhere else to go but the author surprised me. The art was just as beautiful as always too and I especially like the images with L sitting with his feet on the chair. We as the readers find out that another death god descends into our world after his/her (I am not sure yet) curiosity about what Ryuk might be doing with Light Yagami/Kira and hence has another death note which is given to another human called Misa Amane who immediately starts using it irresponsibly and puts Light's identity at risk unintentionally since she doesn't even know Light yet although she knows about his existence due to the media coverage. It is very scary how technology destroyed so many lives by revealing so many identities. She sends 4 individual recordings and 2 letters to a news station and threatens to kill the people working there if they don't broadcast them according to the rules written down there. 2 innocent people die for the reason of repeating that Kira is evil on media. Misa immediately takes the role of a second Kira and agrees with Kira's goal of annihilating all evil and bad intentions from the world however she's more careless than the original Kira and she is already superior to Light Yagami since she has a death god's eyes and therefore can see the names of people floating above their heads and can hence kill them at ease unlike Light. This of course confuses L however he somehow immediately deduces that there might be a second Kira since the people he/she (he doesn't know yet) chose to kill were absolutely innocent and regular Kira wouldn't kill them for such a stupid reason. Also, L recognised that Kira 2 didn't need the names to kill people and in fact agents were killed in front of the broadcasting station. As I mentioned in my updates, Light's father had a heart attack but it wasn't Kira's fault at all, it was just stress. He managed to recover quickly and is clearly very brave since he went and stole the tapes that were being broadcast for inspection by L. In the beginning of the book however we see that L and his helpers put a bunch of microphones and cameras in Light's room since he was a suspect. He managed to act accordingly while still killing victims to remove the suspicion from himself and this goes to show how brilliant he is. He was still under suspicion when the cameras were removed, he got to know where they were with a lot of help from Ryuk who was later awarded with an apple. He loves this snack very much. From a person who is extremely bored evolved a man who is very capable at killing terrible people and people suspecting him effectively and making the world a better place. I feel terrible about his father because if push comes to shove he'll have to destroy his own son. Now that Light and L are going to the same school, (they both got 100 in every subject) Light is more fearful and cautious. He is going to try to use Misa to remove suspicion from himself and at the same time complete his mission quicker and see whether she's on his side or not. The police certainly aren't. Soon to read volume 4. I am not sure what Misa's death god is called but I surely want to get to know him/her better. Misa's god is definitely uglier than Ryuk physically, we'll see what she'll spawn psychologically. Still need to finish a monster calls but it is very slow and can be rather boring at some points for my taste.
