Purgatory Voyage

Can anyone experience life after death for a few days in his present life? Believe me, it was possible earlier. Around 1000 years back, anyone could go for a purgatory voyage to experience life after death for 12 days through a tunnel in Bharmaur, Himachal Pradesh. But no one could recall what happened to him during his purgatory voyage. Once, a person from Bundelkhand, named Kalidas went for a purgatory voyage. He experienced life after death and surprisingly, he was able to recall all those incidents of a different planet. After returning to his state, he embarked on a discourse about his purgatory voyage and his scary encounters with the King of Bundelkhand.

Could anyone believe in his riveting account of the voyage or people smelled a foul play?

The novel "Purgatory Voyage" by Adarsh Kumar Khare is about a story that dates back to 925 AD of a village person, otherwise living peacefully, whose life is thrown into a turmoil consequent to an extraordinary experience of the afterlife, an outcome of his deed (karma) and sense of inquiry. The story is beautifully weaved with threads of mythology, traditional Hindu beliefs, and folklore. At the same time, there is a conscious effort to bring out the social behavior, rituals, and festivities of village life of that period along with the political order of the King with his subjects.
There is a gripping narration of Kali, the protagonist of the novel, of other-worldly experience of his visits to after-life planets of hells and heavens, of torments and punitive actions meted out to sinners, and accounts of suffering the souls have to undergo for the various sins committed in their earthly lives. The author seems to have largely drawn from the “Pretkalp” part of Garud Puran for making such a vivid description of the splendors of the city of Yam, the horrors of various hells, and the excruciating journey of an ordinary soul through all this.
The most interesting part of this novel is the day-by-day recount by Kali of incidents, pain, and suffering of his soul and other fellow souls in his 10-days sojourn to different types of hells and also exploring parts of Yam City and heaven. The curiosity of a reader is held on toes as the account of each day unfolds, much like the Arabian nights.
I find ‘Purgatory Voyage’ by Adarsh Khare a hugely fascinating story in which one cannot leave reading halfway. It latches on to your curiosity and leads your imagination till you reach the end and sigh a sense of relief and joy of having gone through the upheavals along with the protagonist of the story. I think this is the achievement of Adarsh Khare in writing this book.

Purgatory Voyage is a very interesting novel based on one of the important ancient scriptures of India, specifically the Garuda Puran. Adarsh Kumar Khare has used his creative craft to bring back alive the old teachings of India in a story of fiction that should strike a chord with all age group people, particularly those who have some inclination to occultism. The author has followed a style of simple storytelling that generates curiosity in the mind ‘what next’. It was a joy to read the book describing what life after death could be like, with vivid descriptions of different hells and heaven, and punishment or reward according to committed sins or virtuous work. Most of the geographical locations including river, valleys, and forests bear names either similar or the same as those that exist in present-day India and that adds much credence and authenticity to arouse interest in the reader’s mind, even though it is fiction. This book is a must for those who have some fascination towards Indian rich cultural heritage including ancient scriptures and those having the curiosity to peep into the future of life after death.

What is the most important facet which makes the life of a human valuable? Is it money? Is it designation? Is it compassion? is it courage? Is it prudence? Will the same qualities which make our life here on earth valuable have any importance in life after death?

This is a story that dates back to 925 AD and is based on ancient Hindu text called Garuda Purana, which describes the soul's journey. Kali, the protagonist, decides to go on a purgatory voyage to experience life after death. It is a journey through a cave for 12 days (10 + 2) where a person can experience everything they should go through, including heaven and hell after they die. This journey is for atonement or expiation of his sins. Unfortunately, all the details of this voyage will be removed from the people's brains undertaking the journey before the exit on the 12th day. When Kali, who made this journey with his King claims that he remembers every tiny detail about this journey, no one initially believes him. What happened to Kali during the voyage and after it forms the crux of this novel.

It is said that the best novels have both great plots and unforgettable characters. It happens only when the author understands his own writing style and has excellent control over it. In this simple yet elegant novel with the backdrop of mythology and tradition, we can see both these qualities in their entirety.

The author explains the importance of karma in our life.

“Karmas are designated as good or bad depending on the good or bad deeds of a person during his lifetime.”

We are accountable for our every action we do in our life. We are masters of our own fate. If we somehow escape the repercussions of our evil deeds in this life, this novel says that we have to answer it in our afterlife.

“We are still masters of our fate.
We are still captains of our souls."
― Winston S. Churchill, The Crisis

The day by day narration of Kali about the charm and horror of the city of yam and what all punishments people will have to suffer in the hell is a little challenging part to read. Why did only a selected few choose to go for this voyage when everyone had the option of quenching our sins? Why did the King go on a purgatory voyage? Why did not all those sinners and criminals go for purgatory voyage?

"Only a strong-hearted person can dare for this voyage because it is the scariest. Firstly a person must travel for one kilometer in a dark and fearful tunnel. Many of the persons returned from the mid. Everyone cannot dare to go for this voyage."

The way the author chronicles various sins of life and how Chitragupta interprets the depth of each of them and decides what punishment should be given for each of them gives us an entrancing reading experience.

“There is a difference between sins and crimes. Sins are defined and judged by God whereas crimes are defined and judged by the judiciary, which is headed by the King."

If you are a person who loves mythological fiction or if you are a person who loved The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, there is a high chance that you will love this book

Great book to start with!!

The Afterlife (also referred to as life after death, the world to come or reincarnation) is an existence in which the essential part of an individual's identity or their stream of consciousness continues to live after the death of their physical body. This book beautifully explains this with the threads of mythology, traditional Hindu beliefs, and folklore. Concept is new and deals with spiritualism and hindu culture. It's quite interesting to read with beautiful illustrations and pictures. Writing is lucid and narration is good. Cover is not that amusing but still alright. So Overall a good read!! Recommended to all mythology readers!!

Review:

The title of the book is a lengthy one which explains a little more than usual about the theme of the book and gives the idea about the story also. The cover picture shows how confirmed this book will be.

In the story, the protagonist is Kalidas who makes an imaginative journey and the plot is pretty beautiful and visualising. The characters have been explained prominently and their voice of action is conceptualized.

I loved the pace and the language of the book. It doesn’t make the story complicated rather it is such a simple read to start off.

The plot is very thoughtful and loved the work by the author.

Book Title: Purgatory Voyage: encountering life after death
Author: Adarsh Khare
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Purgatory Voyage: encountering life after death ' is mysterious and fascinating.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is an art form representation of the Lord of Death, Yam( according to Hindu Scriptures, on a male buffalo, which is his means of transport to various lokas.

My review:
The book ' Purgatory Voyage: encountering life after death ' set up in the kingdom of Bundelkhand, dating back to 925 A.D. talks about the story of Kali or Kalidas who went on a purgatory journey with his King for the welfare of the kingdom. The story is woven around the scripture famous for people's deeds and punishments, the Garuda Puran. Author Adarsh has written a very interesting story that talks about positivity, faith, karma, logic, after death, life, etc.

The story reminded me few Telugu movies that I have watched during my childhood that has the same storylines of Lord Yam, Chitragupta, Yamlok etc. and the life after death incidents when the deceased remembers and is conscious about the purgatory journey.

What I like:
1. The plot-line
2. The fantasy elements
3. The author's knowledge and grip on Hindu holy scriptures
4.The story oscillates around planets, skies, celestial places etc.
5.The concept of karma and its importance

What I didn't like:
There is nothing to dislike.

Characters:
The characters are the best part of the book other than the story. Every character strives hard to create a long-lasting impression in the reader's mind. Kali is the most interesting character. There are several places where Kali reflects the general thoughts of people who are always inquisitive about the after death life format.

Narration:
The narration in the story is what hooked me until I read the book in one go. I liked the way the author has panned out the story across various planets and places with many sets of interesting sequences along. Though the author has touched across many themes and topics, fortunately too much describing is missing and thus makes the story crisp, sharp and dynamic. Instead of too many descriptions, the story is focused on various important aspects. Special importance has been given to the everyday activity, the pain, the resentment, the suffering, the changes around etc. that happen with Kali.

Language & Grammar:
The language in the story is simple, pacy and universal. These three characteristics make the book also universal and thus can be read by readers of any age. The grammar used is up to the mark, and hence no complex language constructs are seen.

My Final Verdict:
A very interesting story!

After reading some light reads, I wanted to dig into the genre of Mythology again as it always provides me comfort. Purgatory Voyage: encountering life after death by Adarsh Khare is an amazing creation with a very unique plot. When I have read "Is there any life after death?", it has grabbed my huge attention and I didn't wait but grab it. I have a complete interest in this phase and nobody could answer properly so it was like a must-read for me.The author says, if we believe the life after death and accept it, then we all have experienced that segment before birth. We all must have visited hell, heaven, and yam planet multiple times. Isn't interesting? The book consists of everything about this particular fact through the protagonist KALI aka KALIDAS's eyes. It is a mythological fantasy intertwined with Garuda Puran which has smoothly blended traditional Hindu beliefs and folklore. Wait here, grab this book, and trust me it was an awesome journey towards the city of yam.

The writing style is beautiful and very engaging. I haven't felt to put the book down as it was very intriguing. The author knows how to hook his readers till the ending of the story. The characters are very well developed and I like the format of a short introduction for each character. The arts between the pages are so beautiful and it has impressed me genuinely. The author's knowledge and his research is completely visible through this story, after completing the book there was a surprise for me. (Don't turn them without reading ,you will not get the zest). I wish to have a paperback of this as the cover is beautiful and all arts are very creative. The title has been chosen brilliantly as well. There are many quotes I have noted down and they are deep and meaningful. It's a 4.5/5 read and highly recommended book for fiction lovers.

The purgatory voyage by Adarsh Kumar Khare

Check out my review on my blog- https://inscribedinklings.wordpress.c...

This book was a new experience for me. I love reading mythology but I stick to Greek and Egyptian mythology. So Indian mythology is not on my radar, though I have read a few of them. Even to a a layman such as me, this book was easy to understand. I have no prior knowledge about the events in the book. But I did find some similarities between the hell described in this book and the one from Quran.

The writing style was flowery and articulate. The tone of the book was that of impending doom. The theme of the book is just as the title saws- A puragtory voyage and it's after affect. It's really commendable that the author actually translated all the traditional Sanskrit terms into English without losing the essence of the word. It takes a lot of knowledge to write a story based on real scriptures and the author has done an impeccable job.

The story is about a man named Kali and his puragtory voyage. This story is based in 935 A.D in Bharmaur, Himachal Pradesh. The folklore says there is a tunnel there that leads to hell. If anyone needs something very badly and they want it fullfilled, they can take this voyage. During this voyage, they would pay for their sins and shed some of it. When they come out, they will cleansed and their wishes will be fullfilled. But no one ever remembered the incidents that occurred within the tunnels. They always forgot when they came out. Except for Kali, he was given a boon to remember it.

In the Kingdom of Bundelkhand, they were suffering from drought for many years. No matter what ritual they did, they didn't get rain. So the King went on this voyage and Kali followed him and saw what happened. What happened inside? Will anyone believe Kali? Read to find out!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mythology. It's a great refreshing take on it.

"As she has planted, so does she harvest; such is the field of karma”. — Sri Guru Granth Sahib

'Purgatory Voyage' dates back to 925 AD in the dynasty of Bindu-Khand now known as Bundelkhand. Earlier Bindu-Khand was known as Jujhoti-Khand. Jujhoti-Khand was getting grips with perilous drought conditions and the only person who could save the people of Jujhoti-Khand was King Bindu Dev Varman. The King tried every possible thing to save his kingdom but to no avail.

To shun from this minacious situation and to save his people's skin King Bindu Dev Varman ex cogitate a twelve days purgatory voyage to Yam planet (Planet of Yamraj — the God of death) at Brahmpura. It is weened that being alive if a person wishes to get rid of his/her sins, a twelve days purgatory voyage can be made to Yam Planet to obliterate one's sins and their wishes honors.

But King Bindu Dev Varman is not alone in this voyage. A fellow villager of Jujhoti-Khand, Kalidas also peregrinates towards Yam planet as he wishes to discover the planet. Once people return from the voyage they forget the experiences they have gone through in the voyage. But, fortunately Kalidas claims that he knows everything about Yam planet & remembers all the punishments he has gone through.

'Purgatory Voyage' is a forgotten and an epic story of Indian mythology and history. I have read a lot of mythological retelling but never before I have read anything related to Yamraj or his planet. This book is a compulsive work which up roots the minute historical facts, geographical locations, ancient cultures and practices. It gives a glance of the Yam planet and how people are punished according to their sins. Through this book we get a message about our 'Karmic' actions and how Karma hits us back. Overall, it was a riveting read, and I would rate it 4.8/5

Purgatory Voyage: encountering life after death is a book written by Adarsh Kumar Khare. This book is set in 925 A.D. based on a man named Kalidas. He decided to go on a purgatory voyage with his king to seek the answer to "what happen after death?" No one remembers what happens on that voyage after they seek out. But Kali claims he remembers everything. Now, from here the story begins.

The cover page of the story is the illustration of the protagonist in the story. The title is appropriate for the story and actually summarised the book in one line. The plot of the book is written well and I appreciate the author for researching so much on the scriptures.

When you write a plot related to the mythology, it's important to research about all the beliefs and myths which people have. The language of the book is simple and quite easy to understand. The portrayal of every character is done in a descriptive manner. Knowing about every character is very important as it helps to understand the relationship between every character and to the plot also.

The narration of the book is done in a lucid manner because all the Indian scriptures are translated into English words making their perfect sense. There are many quotes in the book that I loved. I'll recommend this book to all the mythological fiction lovers. Eventually, I loved the book.

The book 'Purgatory voyage: encountering life after death!' by author Adarsh khare is a fictional story with the crisps of mythology. The stroy took place in 925 AD era where anyone could go for purgatory voyage to experience life after death for 12 days through a tunnel but the twist is that nobody could recall what happened in that time. The protagonist of the story named Kalidas, a village man went to a purgatory voyage and experienced life after death but surprisingly, he could recall all the incidents happened to him and fellow souls! But will anyone believe in him? Or it will get dismissed as a foul play? You have to read the book to find it out.

My thoughts:
The author described Yam planet and heaven so well that it chills down your spine. He is largely influenced by 'Garuda purana' and other Indian mythology. A reader could feel that torture the protagonist went through. The narration is impeccable. The cover of the book could be better and editing was little turn off for me. I couldn't understand the moral of the story but it was an entertaining read. :))

Title : Purgatory Vogage : Encountering life after death

Author : Adarsh Khare

Genre : Mythological, Fictional

Review :
When I started reading the book, I actually didn't know the meaning of purgatory but as we start we actually realise I got to know talks about late 925 AD, ansesntors where in Purans you will also find the lessons for bad sins and good sins are given. I have saw movie in Tamil or Telugu which was actually based on punishment of people according to their bad things they have done all in the life.

Cover displayed on the book will actually tell the story already narrated by Author. Basically before reading the book I actually read summary to get to know book about. But I have read recommendation page where already described about the book as said most interesting part of this novel is day by day recount by kali of incidents of pain and suffering of his soul, I actually felt that

I have read this book very eagerly beacuse I was reading and learning something new, which I know it may exist but I haven't read or si haven't experience something. This book and Mr. Khare has explained it so well

At the end I would say, it was an interesting book to read. I haven't experience those things yet but still i felt everything because what i read basically I can imagine the things and felt with word by word of after live

A must book in your bookshelf which must be read once in lifetime . Good luck & best Wishes to the Author!

It was a fascinating read. It had one of the most unique plots I have ever encountered in mythological fiction. In the time when we read a lot of fiction that has different characters from Mahabharata and Ramayana, the author has revolved a lot around Yama, the deity of Death. It tells about the time when people could travel to the planet Yam in the era of 925 AD. They could make their wishes fulfill by Purgatory Voyage. This novel narrates the story of Kalidas, who was an intermediator of life, and the afterlife. He undertook ten days journey from hell and heaven when he leaves his mortal life. I loved how the author has researched this topic to make it look like a real story. A lot of similarities were shared with Garuda Puraan. I could immerse in this gripping tale, and even after you read the book, the tale is stuck in your head for a long time.

While I wouldn't call this book spiritual fiction, it is rooted in the mythological tales of India. Borrowing from the folklores of India, the author weaves a story of his protagonist Kalidas. Steeped in moral and social codes, (and anachronism), this one is recommended for those who can't get enough of the mythological fiction. It can also work as historical fiction but I don' t really know the history of India dating back to 925AD.

After reading this book, one thing I can surely say that it made me revisit the memories of childhood. The story that we used to hear from our elders, and the same feeling made me so happy.
The title of the book is so interesting that it made me so curious to read the book!
The author has beautiful described all the things, the mystery and every single details described in the book so beautifully!
The story will lead you to the past, 925 A.D., the kingdom of Bundelkhand. And from there only the main story begins! The journey to the mystery!
"Whoever completed his voyage could only explain his entry and exit from the tunnel but " he/she could not explain what happened after entering inside the tunnel... "
The journey through the mystery will amaze the readers.
The narration is really so strong and the characters are so lively and that made the book even more attractive!
The language is simple and lucid.
I really loved the cover of the book, it's really eye-catching!
Over all, a must read book!

Kalidas, the protagonist, commonly known as Kali, once went for Purgatory Voyage with the King of Bundelkhand. Purgatory Voyage is visiting the Yam City for 10 days and one day for entry and another one day for exit. As Bundelkhand was suffering from drought for past 5 years, King planned to do Purgatory Voyage to fulfill his wish - Rain. It is believed that one have to wash away his sins in Yam City, then only his wish will be fulfilled. To find the truth behind this, Kali planned to do Purgatory Voyage with king but without his knowledge. Both of them successfully completed their voyage and returned back. Usually the person who go for Voyage will forget what they have gone through the Yam City. But Kali claims that he remember everything. Will every believe him? Is he really remember everything? Or is it a foul play?

This book is based on Garuda puran(Ancient Scriptures of India). The story could generate some amount of curiosity in reader. This one mainly deals about Karma and Sins. After reading this book, one will rethink before their every action. Overall a good read but difficult to believe whether this is true or not.

The book Purgatory Voyage making is a mix out of old stories, mythology and fiction. The story has an astounding storyline which we don't insight in our standard everyday presence yet are just dreams. The book moreover has fine arts to depict the story.

Purgatory Voyage is a journey where Kalidas travel through the different realms of the universe. The plot is set in the 925 AD set in a period we don't consider science, superstitions ruled the world

kalidas is a ruler who set on an excursion searching for trust, answers to his issues and game plans.

The writer composed and cut down the story in a astounding way. The language was clear and storyline was quite intriguing

First, huge thanks to the author for providing me with the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It's really difficult where to start the review. So let's launch this review with the meaning of "Purgatory Voyage". This is a voyage through which people [around 925 AD] were able to visit the Yam planet, to get their wishes to come true.

Why don't people always go there?

The catch is that people visiting the Yam planet are treated as per their actions on Earth. A virtuous person goes to heaven while a sinner goes to hell. The story starts with some pilgrims visiting the Yamraj temple in Himachal Pradesh when the priest narrates them the story of Kali.

From here the story goes in the past where Purgatory Voyage was possible. Hence, the story is about Kali who visits the Yam Planet along with the King of his village to know what happens to them during their Purgatory Voyage [as people would not remember anything].

The concept of Heaven and Hell is well imagined and presented. Especially the hell seriously scared the hell out of me.

The character of Kali is well characterized. We can see him developing throughout the story.

The structure of this book is brilliant. The writing style is clean. Some beautiful occasional illustrations make the experience more incredible.

It also delves into some of the other elements of Indian Mythology. Like telling the stories behind some of the traditions followed by people in different regions. I like when Indian Mythology is expressed in a way that is unbelievable and still gives you the proof of its existence.

But the best takeaway from this book is that it affects you in how you perceive the world and bring some changes in your behavior in a positive way. If you understand as to what really means to be a virtuous person then this book has achieved its aim.

All in all, this book regardless of any religion is sure to give you some life lessons in a way that may be a bit scary. But you know some kind of fear is important for your life.

Blurb:

Title:
I not a person who believes in life after death but through this title I could see the future revolving around. Beautiful and a unique title.

Cover:
The cover is interesting on the one side and scary on the other. Nice cover.

Language:
Language is simple and easy to understand. Without many grammatical errors, the author managed to write in a simple and go through the way book.

Narration:
I have end end number of books but this book’s narration is totally different. How beautifully author has narrated the story.

My views:
I don’t believe in life after death but I enjoyed readying this book and came to know a lot of new things I didn’t know before.

Title : Purgatory Voyage
Author: Adarsh Kumar Khare (@adarsh_kumar_khare )

🧡The protagonist Kali sets on a purgatory voyage and his fascinating experiences comprises the rest of the fiction.

🧡Kali lives in a village which faces severe drought. The King wishes to resolve the situation and that is when he comes to know about "the tunnel". Trust me this is no ordinary tunnel but a gateway to hell.

🧡Interesting thing is people can get into this and stay for 12 days after which they can get their wishes fulfilled. But they wouldn't have any knowledge about what happened in those 12 days

🧡Kali and King proceed on this journey with ups and downs which throws light upon different things like - vice, virtue, sins, purgatory etc.

🧡The story withholds the concept of oral story-telling tradition which is famous in any culture.

🧡Incase you thought about a person able to tour between hell and heaven and then finally return and reveal the story ! Then this is for you 😁

🧡The description is vivid and the writer deserves appreciation for this.

🧡The theme of post-death scenario is interesting and intriguing at the same time to travel with Kali to know what happens next.

🧡There is no dragging in the story which is a good sign.

🧡The illustrations appears to be apt and artistic. Loved the way it is placed along with the writings.

🧡Characters are woven brilliantly and they stay in our mind even after the completion of novel.

🧡The characters are limited and they serve the plot in a justified way

🧡Being a lover of mythology esp Hindu mythology I liked the way the author has handled the plot

🧡 Recommended to those who love to read Indian/ Hindu mythological tale !!!

The book lays out the plot where a King and one of his citizens Kali who go on a Purgatory voyage and spend 10 days in Yamlok. The story dates back to 925 AD and is based on an ancient Hindu script called Garuda Purana, which describes the soul's journey. The first half of the book majorly explains their experience throughout the voyage in Yamlok, where different types of hell, and punishments for different types of sins. Unfortunately, all the details of this voyage will be removed from the people's brains undertaking the journey before the exit on the 12th day. When Kali, who made this journey with his King contends that he recollects every tiny detail about this journey, no one is ready to believe him. What happened to Kali during the voyage and after it forms the gist of this novel.

The second part is the story deals with their life after they return to their kingdom. The storyline is captivating. I loved the plot although I have watched similar stories in Tamil movies. The language is lucid. Few grammatical errors need to be corrected. The book needs more polishing in the area of narration and storytelling part. The cover page would attract the children but not the adult since the story is made for adults, the cover could have been more attractive. There were few pictures used, but I couldn't find the sources. What astonished me more is the creativity and imagination of the author, he clearly layered out the scenes in the book, which he wants the readers to imagine. The author has great potential in developing fantasy. I must appreciate his unique attempt in creating a story with a last longing impression. I would suggest this book to fictional mythology readers.

Overview-

🔻The book talks about the God of Death, Yama & life of spirits at Yamlok. The book takes us back to the 925 AD where people had a chance to do a 10days sojourn to YamLok to fulfill their wish by paying of for their sons/virtues. It talks about the difference between sins & crimes along with the importance of our virtues. It mainly focused on Karma.
🔻King Bindu Dev Varman ruler of the Jujhoti-Khand state. His State was struggling with severe drought for many years. People believe that due to heavy sins & crimes God was punishing them.
🔻King decided to go on a purgatory voyage to welfare for his state and him. Kali one of the village also likes to go for that voyage because he badly wanted to know about the voyage.

My take on the book-

Initial chapter of the book acts as a tour-guide to various pilgrims visiting the Bharamaur and thus serving as a narrator to the entire story, that chapter provided a wholesome experience of exploring the place.
🔻It's 925 AD where Kalidas(protagonist) gets an opportunity to view his life after death, the process is about entering a caves and it's a soujourn of 12 days. Well every person forget what happens in the 12 days😯but what if Kalidas doesn't?
🔻Few characters like Chitragupta and Yama made me remember my childhood memories where my mom used to tell me mythological stories. The illustrations in the book were catchy.
🔻I enjoyed reading but in mid I found it a little monotonous, a few grammatical glitches & spell errors could be improved. Overall a great & deep work made by the author.

🌻Best wishes to author for future endeavours.

Purgatory Voyage is a fascinating book that retells the epic story of Indian Mythology related to after-death life.

Plot:
This plot sets in 925 AD, when Jujhoti-Khand kingdom of Bindu Dev was facing drought calamity for 5 years. The king tried every ritual to save his kingdom, but all went in vain. Then one day his advisor told him about the purgatory voyage to Yam planet at Bharmpura, Himanchal. He told it is believed that if someone wants to get rid of his sins being alive, he had to go through the cave for a purgatory voyage to the kingdom of Yamraj (the God of death) for 12 days, and his wish gets fulfilled. The king decided to go for this religious ritual, but a villager named Kalidas (Kali protagonist of the read) accompany him on the journey just for his curiosity to discover the Yam planet. It is believed that once people return from the voyage they forget all memories of the Yam planet. But, fortunately, Kalidas remembered all the things he has gone through.

My thoughts:
The story is related to Garuda Purana, based on one’s karma, and their reward or punishment. I love the blend of historic and geographic facts, ancient culture, and practices during Navratri and Deepawali. I like the “Kali” character. In several situations when he is describing each day of the voyage journey, I found his rational thoughts very interesting.
It is a well-written book and the author reaches out to the readers with ease. The style of writing is simple and elegant. I would recommend this read to mythological fans all around.

The concept of this novel is very unique. It is a perfect blend of fantasy and mythology, therefore it is quite informative.
☯Kali is a man of inquisitive nature and Bindu Dev Varman is a proud king, the clash between these two characters arise because it’s only Kali who remembers what happened during this voyage and the memories were too embarrassing for the king. ☯Throughout, the novel many interesting dilemmas were presented, I really liked the way it urges the reader to frame their own opinion through the discussion of villagers on interesting topics like afterlife, sins and how the sins of king affects his countrymen and sins of people affects their land.
☯The recollection of visit to hell and heaven was really captivating.
☯The consequences of Kali's narration and his ultimate action is justifiable. It can be linked to modern world where innocent people with good heart often get punished for being too naive and thinking others will honour their honesty.
☯Although, I found few lines repetitive which could’ve been avoided for better reading experience.
▶Some interesting facts -
• ‘Total of 8.4 million hells. But 21 of them are major hells’
•‘This Heaven has 21 towns dedicated to 21 types of virtues. Based on the type of virtue, the person is allotted to live in the respective town.'
•'The virtuous person’s spirit is taller than sinner person’s spirit’
•‘There is a difference between sins and crimes’ ‘What is the difference?’ ‘Sins are defined and judged by God whereas crimes are defined and judged by the judiciary which is headed by the king.

Book :- Purgatory Voyage: encountering life after death 📖
Author :- Adarsh Khare✍️

How do you feel about the title and cover? Would you like to give this a try?

Purgatory Voyage is an engrossing novel that is based on myths and old folklore and is an old ancient scripture. This novel will bring you to the year 925 AD. Storytelling is a centuries-old tradition in India. The author has done an excellent job in crafting this fictional tale and has carried on a long tradition.

The storey revolves around an elderly villager who could remember his life for 12 days after his death. The protagonist of this novel is Kalidas, who travels to a new world of hells and heavens, where sinners are punished and tormented for their sins committed during their earthly lives. When Kalidas went on his purgatory voyage, he discovered all of this.

The storey emphasises the importance of doing good deeds in one's life and being a good human being. This storey piques your curiosity in what will happen next and keeps you guessing until the very end. And it's never a good idea to turn it on halfway. The most intriguing aspect of this storey is that it tells you about the influence of karma.

This book will captivate readers of all ages, especially those with an interest in occultism. I recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about Indian history, old scripture, tradition, and lifestyle, as well as those who are curious about what happens after death.

The vocabulary and phrases are easy to understand, and the cover is historically accurate.

My take:-
“Death is like an old whore in a bar-I'll buy her a drink but I won't go upstairs with her”. The subject of the quote may be considered to have grisly side of its own, but consider it the human fascination which stops at nothing to solve the mysteries surrounding the same and what intrigues a human the most is the never ending fascination with the term “Life after Death” and the addition of Indian mythology and its prevailing precepts regarding the subject matter heightens the fascinating aspect fairly well. The storyline revolves around a village in the year 925AD and based on the known text of “Garuda Purana” which depicts the journey of the soul. As per the storyline, a special place in Himachal Pradesh hosts a tunnel through which an individual can see and experience everything for 12 days after departing from the mortals , however the memories would be deleted after the 12th day, but contrary to the scheme kali a village man claims to remember everything and how this remembrance turn up tends to remain at the heart of the story
What really stands out is the infusion of tradition and mythology and at the same instance keeping the simplicity in place thereby being capable enough to make his literary work comprehensive enough to cater to needs of all sections of readers thereby making it a must read for everyone specially those willing to explore the tenets of Indian mythology

Purgatory Voyage!

Rating : 3.75 /5

Have you ever wonder about the results of human deeds & karma. How people are punished for their sins?

Purgatory Voyage : Encountering Life After Death by Adarsh Kumar Khare

This book is a fictional novel, highlighting few mythologies too.
Story is something similar like dreams - where we travel in another world, but we can't remember anything after that.
It's about sins, wishes, yamdoot, hell, heaven & more.

To save his kingdom from drought, the king decided to go on Purgatory Voyage. So, that he can ask for his wishes to fulfill, for his citizens; after completing punishment.
Kali decided to accompany him. Because he was curious to know more about karma & it's results.

No one was able to remember the journey of 12 days in Purgatory Voyage, where people have to leave their body & their spirits have to travel the hell.
But, Kali was blessed. He was able to remember the whole story.
What happened in Purgatory Voyage?
What were those hidden sins, committed by King ?
Kali had narrated the story honestly or it was his imagination?

What I like : Simple language, beautiful pictures are adding more visualization to the story.

What I dislike : I found it little bit boring in starting, but as soon I found the pace of main story, it's amazing!

Recommended : To those who like Fictional novel, mythologies, stories based on spirituality or power.

Book: Purgatory Voyage
Author: Adarsh Kumar Khure

"Purgatory Voyage" by Adarsh Kumar Khure is a mythological hindu fiction where a Priest narrates the story of a person who went to Yamlok in his present life. The flashback plot was set in 925 AD and revolves around Kalidas aka Kali. Kalidas is a god stricken virtuous peasant living in Bindu Khand ( now the adjoining parts of Indian states Uttar pradesh and Madyapradesh). The king of Bindu Khand, Bindu Dev Varman decided to go to Yamlok through a Tunnel in Bharmaur to resolve the unpalatable drought experienced by his state. Kalidas somehow went along with King to Yamlok and came to know the secrets of Karma and life after death.

While reading this part, I felt like reading a mini version of GarudaPurana. Kalidas got to know about the 21 main hells and 21 heavens but whoever went on a 12 days purgatory voyage would forget whatever happened when he returns back to his normal earthly life. The sad part comes when Kalidas tries to enlighten the King after 12 days Purgatory voyage. The king was enraged at hearing how he was brutally tortured in hell. He jailed and expelled Kalidas. And thereafter his journey continues in different places of Himachal Pradesh.

In my point of view, the whole story seems to be like a real incident. All the places and historical facts match perfectly. The book was well penned after thorough research and detailed analysis. It's a short read, easy going book in terms of language. Recommended for mythological lovers.

My best wishes for the author💐

This book did sound very interesting and I knew that the creativity of the author would be good, However, it was way better than what I expected and was absolutely amazing.

The Garud Puran as everyone knows is tha maha Puran and the book has very creatively focused on the "Pretkalp" partbof the garud Puran.

The book is in the 925 AD where Kalidas gets an opportunity to view his life after death, The process is about entering a caves and it's a soujourn of 12 days. However most or every person forget what happens in the 12 days.

But what if Kalidas doesn't forget it?

The book is the experience of Kalidas in 38 Chapters and 217 Pages. Mostly describing his experience of his Purgatory Voyage.

The book is written in a very simple format that even if one has read Hindu Mythology, you will understand and definitely enjoy the read.

The very helpful portion was the list of characters referance given in the beginning of the book. So they is no chance of getting confused with the characters.

The book definitely took us back to the traditional Hindu beliefs and was very authentic.

I did like the ending, though I kind of had guessed it.

There are life lessons to be learnt from this book too and I absolutely loved the flower pics in the book. I am assume the author did the painting, great work on that, it did add the extra zing to the book.

Absolutely MUST READ for everyone

MY RATING- 4/5 STARS
“Is there any life after death? This is a question that has intrigued humanity since time immemorial. But, most of the Hindus and Buddhists believe that life after death exists and a soul reincarnates in a different body.”
This is the first line of the book that leaves us with many questions in our minds about both life and death yet precisely life after death. This is the story of a man Kalidas of the kingdom under the king Bindu Dev Verman; which is suffering from draught from last five years yet no solution or remidies worked till now, so he decides to go on a Purgatory Voyage which means experiency the life after death for twelve days. Unfortunately , the things went wrong when Kali remembers each and every detail about his journey, initially no one believed him but gradually he came to know the truth about it. Will that Purgatory Voyage solve every problem in the village and in Kali’s life? how will this Voyage is going to impact Kali? Will this journey is for the atonement or expiation of his sins?
Author has penned down this writing in 925 AD based on ancient Hindu text which left me spell bound after reading it. This Historic and Mythological Fiction will keep you turning the pages till the end as the little detailing in every topic makes it more engrossing. The best thing I like is that author used both Sanskrit and Hindi words and also referred it terms in English for better understanding. I was not having any idea about what and how the book is going to be but turned out be an outstanding read.

Book review📘

Book - Purgatory Voyage: Encountering Life After Death
Author - Adarsh Kumar Khare
Format - Kindle/Paperback
Rating - 4.5/5🌻

🎈Purgatory Voyage: Encountering Life After Death is a story of imagination fiction with a dash of folklore. The tale is tied in with encountering eternal life without kicking the bucket. The interaction basically includes entering through a passage buckle under the planet of Yam and going through 12 days there giving penance one's transgressions and in this way being liberated from the birth-and-demise cycle.

🎈The story is dated 925 AD and follows Kali's, the hero, excursion of existence with him entering planet Yam and what trails. No one should recall what occurs in those 12 days yet phenomenally Kali does.

🎈Is his portrayal exact? It is safe to say that he is just envisioning? Is Kali concocting his own story? Peruse to discover!

🎈I don't accept some other title than "Purgatory Voyage: Encountering Life After Death" would suit the plot, while the book cover was extremely essential and might have been made really engaging. What I cherished best about this book was its point by point portrayal; every single part was depicted in extraordinary detail, showing the writer's authentic endeavors in his examination before composing this book.

Happy Reading 😊
