“The angels…regard our safety, undertake our defense, direct our ways, and exercise a constant solicitude that no evil befall us.”
John Calvin - French Theologian 1509-1564

Not many hard-working farm families living in the shadow of the Lyon Brook Railroad Bridge think about angels in their midst. However, Betsy Emig, a child on a nearby homestead, is born with an unusual gift. She can see and talk with her guardian angel. Her young parents assume their precocious daughter has an imaginary friend until the three-year-old repeatedly tells them what she sees during undeniable angelic interventions. Butch and Mary Emig evolve as parents raising five children, one with unique abilities.

* What will Butch and Mary learn from their gifted child?
* Will angels defend Betsy's family from forces of evil?
* When a tragic accident shakes the Emig family's foundation
of faith, can Betsy's angel explain why bad things happen
to good people?

Nancy Panko has a way of introducing you to her characters that makes you feel a personal relationship with them. Betsy and her family capture your heart on the very first page of
SHELTERING ANGELS. Nancy bases the story around true to life experiences and makes us fall in love with the Emig family. We share their joys and sorrows in this heartfelt tale. It is a remarkable story of hope, a loving family, and the angels that protect them.
Panko is a real artist in her ability to intertwine the lives of her characters and introduces us to their angels. Betsy has a relationship with her guardian angel, Sandy, since she has been born. Her parents think Sandy is their daughter’s imaginary friend but soon realize Sandy is real and they learn they all have angels protecting them. In some unexpected twist of tragedy the angels offer guidance and protection. I highly recommend Nancy Panko's latest book, SHELTERING ANGELS, as a must on your reading list. The author has a flair for description and keeps you spellbound. I would highly recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed. I give Sheltering Angels FIVE STARS.

MWSA Review

In Sheltering Angels, author Nancy Panko has given us a fascinating perspective of the relationship between guardian angels and the people they protect. The book, set primarily on a farm in New York, tells the story of the Emig family whose first child, Betsy, has a unique gift. Betsy is born with the ability to see and talk to her guardian angel. At first, her parents believe Betsy is just talking to a make-believe friend whom she calls Sandy. Over time and after a couple family crises, Betsy tells her parents that Sandy is a guardian angel, and while skeptical at first, her parents soon realize she is telling the truth. The story continues over the decades giving the reader an insight as to how this knowledge and relationship with the guardian angel affects the family. An enjoyable read, I recommend it.

Nancy Panko lovingly weaves history and fresh characters into the story of the Emigs, a hardworking family in 1940s New York State, and the guardian angels that are assigned to watch over them, especially their oldest daughter, Betsy. This is a story that spans the generations of lives of a loving family, their joys and their trials, but it is also about redemption and forgiveness--all under the protection and guidance of the heavenly “sheltering angels” assigned to the family and their friends. It speaks beautifully to the hope and promise that we have as believers. I highly recommend this new book by Nancy Panko!

A Deeper Awareness

In Sheltering Angels, Nancy Panko alerts the reader to dangers, then gives an insider's view of each rescue. This is not a fairy tale, rather events backed by Scripture regarding the angelic realm.

Reading the Emig's story that begins with infant Betsy and continues through generations brought to my mind occasions that could only be explained by divine intervention, wrapped up in angels' wings.

I highly recommend this gripping story that is eye opening as well as a story of forgiveness and redemption.

No wonder Nancy Panko is an award-winning author.

Nancy Panko has a real gift for creating loveable characters, whose personalities are revealed through wonderful dialogue and ways they interact with each other in her novel Sheltering Angels.

“I know first hand that babies don’t come with instructions, but with an angel? Wouldn’t that be nice?”  This is one of many of my favorite lines from this story that creatively and memorably explores what the Scriptures say about the reality of the fact that we most certainly do have angels among us.

The multigenerational adventures of the Emig family may just be the answer to your prayers if you’ve ever wondered about what it might be like to realize that you have in fact been ‘entertaining angels unaware,’ as the Scriptures say. It’s almost unbelievable how many frightening situations the family in this novel got into and out of. Yet despite being fiction, most of those situations actually happened in Nancy's family while she was growing up. (Indeed, truth can be stranger than fiction!)

Nancy adds a great what-if to this story that makes it unique. What if we could actually see and hear guardian angels, as the child Betsy did in this novel? Understanding creative ways God protects us makes this a faith-builder as well as a moving, perfect-paced story.

You’ll be reminded over and over of the fact that God really does know the end from the beginning of your story, and even when you’re discouraged and angry at God for a loss or tragedy in your life, He can handle it and He’s always with you – no matter what.

Look for Sheltering Angels on November 10, 2020. This book is a stand alone.
