The fifth book in the Mountain Life Western Adventure series from Charles Ray!
After his family was killed by slave catchers in the settlement of New Canaan, Nebraska, Caleb escaped and lived among the Winnebago tribe until he came of age. He then moved south, settling near Bear Creek, Colorado, where he engages in hunting and trapping, working with the general store owner in the town. One day, a ghost from his past comes to Bear Creek. Four of the men involved in his parents’ deaths, show up. When they beat and rob Caleb’s friend, he swears that he will finally get the vengeance that is long overdue.
The trail leads from Colorado to the Dakotas where there is a final reckoning that changes Caleb’s life forever.

Certainly enjoy following Caleb throughout his journeys, and definitely the fact he finally has retribution for the death of his family. The sojourn with his newly acquired Indian friends was definitely impressive and worthwhile!
Certainly another five star masterpiece by one of the most prolific writers of outstanding western adventures, as Caleb pulls no punches in his pursuit of four outlaws who severely injured his very dearest friend. During his pursuit Caleb befriends three Indians, and becomes their "blood brothers." Their pursuit
is definitely a series of one entertaining adventure after the other!
Outstanding storylines that touches anyone's heartstrings, and the Author's successful selection of characters were compassionately selected, and their endearing perseverance finally brings justice to those responsible for their wrong doings!
Certainly recommend this compassionately motivated story to all, but especially to all of you western addicted enthusiasts, as the trail following Caleb and His Indian friends will fulfill your most demanding desires from beginning to end. Too, you non-western readers will find yourselves completely engrossed from beginning to end!!!😃

Caleb Johnson, the Mountain Man
I loved this series and I really wish that there were more. Your detail purs you right there next to him. I can almost smell the camp fire and coffee.
I love that he has compassion and will not be pushed around and that he finds love with a woman who is his equal...Please extend this series.

Full Circle
Another great Charles Ray mountain man story. A tale where Caleb finally avenges the murder of his parents when was just a little boy and aquires three new Shoshonie blood brothers in the process. Well written and hard to put down. Would highly recommend it!

Should be book 1
Good story, characters and writing, as usual. But this book is a prequel and if you want Caleb's story in order, you should read first, not fifth!

Reatthd all of the books in order to really enjoy it. Storyline continues to grow and develop. Characters are realistic and get better and better.

This is a great book and story, but, we still have not read the book where Caleb meets Flora for the first time. Things are getting ahead or behind it all.

This book seemed more like a prequel. Should say that in the blurb instead of just “book 5”.
