Jesus Heals Today

Rate this book
This book gives very beautiful and accurate theological descriptions of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the other key elements of the CCR, Catholic Charismatic Renewal...but they are not dry-as-dust descriptions. They are the author's lived experiences and the source of his very joyful Christianity. He has not divorced theology from his quest for holiness, and his fruitful witness to holiness.

All of us from time to time need to be reminded that God is still very active in our world today. All of us need that kind of encouragement to renew our hope. Hearing stories of what God has done renews our faith that He can do it again. Costandi’s book, ‘Jesus Heals Today’, contains these kinds of stories.

But that is only Part 1. In Part 2 he provides a good concise explanation of the experience that many call ‘the baptism in the Holy Spirit’ and of many of the charismatic gifts that are often released through that experience. In Part 3 he provides an expanded glossary of some of the organisations and regular events mentioned throughout Part 1.

Because it is liberally sprinkled with quotations from scripture and uses a light touch when it mentions specifically Catholic things, it is a book you could give (or lend) to a Christian friend without any qualms.

Others will find it to be a good gift for those convalescing after illness; as a book to share around to help increase expectant faith prior to an outreach event; and as a useful discussion starter with people who have pastoral responsibilities.

I do love reading stories of physical, emotional and spiritual healing, and Costandi includes a wide variety of these accounts of how God healed people at all these levels. It’s always an added bonus when the stories are local, and you can recall many of the places they happened in your memory banks.
