I absolutely loved this book. I didn’t know what to expect but there’s so much practical information in it. There are things I can do to set up my business from the very start and I’m sure I’ll be able to keep referring to this one as my business evolves
Despite the book being quite informative in providing and explaining marketing and branding strategies with some case studies and anecdotes, the informative is very repetitive and redundant. I did get some interesting insights and info from the book, especially in the earlier chapters . However, as the author talks about how to leverage marketing and branding in various social media platforms for business, the same or similar information is constantly written and repeated again until the end. There should be some more diversification in explaining the tools and its functionality, as well as more examples that demonstrates more advanced and practical uses in using these platforms, as I know a lot more beneficial and advanced uses that thus book didn't cover on (the book mostly cover the basics with not too much specific use). Overall, it is not a bad book by not means but not great either that would wow you either. It's an okay, decent read for people who is in more of the beginning /learning stages and have interest in. marketing and branding.
The author is part of the management team of Basic Bananas, a group offering marketing training, whom I've been following for several years, so I knew that I would find this book helpful. It gives a really good rundown on all the different types of social media, what they're best for and how to use them to best effect. Yes, as someone else has commented, there is some repetition. To me that makes it easy to pick up and read just one section if you want to, rather than reading the whole book. As someone just dipping their toe into running a business for the first time, I found this book really useful.
Useful information on marketing, brand and social media strategy followed by in-depth information on the big six platforms. Includes audience detail, posting and growth strategies.
4.5 stars I was able to get a lot of ideas from this book for my (very) small business! I wrote a lot of notes and will continue to brainstorm on the points made in each chapter. I did only skim the sections on current social media platforms as I feel that is already dated, but the basic principles in the rest of the book were excellent.
