Dexter Ryan is smug. Arrogant. Manipulative. And he is also…Lacey Amari’s new partner. Well, her partner on one case. A case she doesn’t even want to take, but when Dex—CIA super operative and all around puppet-master—basically blackmails her, she has no choice. Then he asks her the big question…
Will you marry me?
The proposal isn’t real. It’s just an undercover assignment. Dex needs Lacey to be his fake fiancée for a case. Not exactly her dream job. But, she’ll do it. He wants her to pretend to be head over heels in love with him, he wants her help on a dangerous investigation in a remote ski lodge, and he… wants her?
Their desire isn’t pretend.
Dex doesn’t work well with others and handling a case with a partner in close proximity—as in 24/7 close—isn’t his normal style. He’s pulled Lacey into the investigation because she is smart and resourceful, and maybe because he knows a secret about her that could prove to be very useful to him. After all, Dex uses people all the time. It’s his thing. Yet the more he is around her, the idea of using Lacey suddenly doesn’t seem like such a good plan. But getting her into his bed? Stellar idea.
He wants her, but so do the bad guys.
The attraction between Dex and Lacey burns red-hot, hot enough to melt the snow around them. Except, just as he planned, Lacey’s presence draws in the enemy. Now the bad guys are after her, and Dex has to stick even closer to her. He’s playing the role of the obsessed lover, only it’s not just a role. Because for the first time in his life, Dex is falling hard. He’s losing his control.
He’s lied. He’s cheated. He’s about to give up his heart.
When Lacey finds out the secret he’s known, her rage and pain break his heart. Dex has to find a way to make things up to her, and he has to stop the enemies who are closing in. Nothing he can’t handle. Maybe . Dex is a master multi-tasker—most days, anyway. Dex will use every trick in his very large arsenal to win this case. Lacey melted the ice around what the whole world knows is Dex’s very, very cold heart, and Dex will fight like hell to protect her and to prove to her that even master spies can fall in love.
Author’s note : Dex loves playing games. Some would even say he enjoys playing with other people’s lives, but this time…it is Dex’s life on the line. His life and his heart. The longer his pretend engagement to Lacey lasts, the longer Dex finds himself longing for the real deal. Prepare for lies, tricks, dangerous enemies, and romance hot enough to melt some heavy snow…Dex’s story will burn like fire and things will get WILDE.

I am crazy in love with these Wilde characters with all the action, drama, thrills and suspense they get themselves into! Add in a fake engagement along with a simmering, steamy heat that’s the real deal, and Dex and Lacey just made a place for themselves on my favorite shelf.
I absolutely adored Lacey. She was more than capable of taking care of herself but she didn’t have that hard edge to her that many heroines do. With so much already on her plate and more being thrown at her as the story progresses, I was eager to see how she handled it and in the process, handled Dex.
Dex intrigued me when I first met him. He never seemed to be exactly what he appeared to be and this time around we had the opportunity to find out just what is behind the mask that he wears. I know I say this about every book by this author, but holy heck does she know how to give me the type of hero I absolutely adore! His jealousy and possessiveness were understandable, even if unnecessary, and so much fun to watch, along with his possessiveness. I also loved that we were inside his mind when he had a few emotional moments. That alone would have made me fall in love with him.

This is filled with some unexpected twists and surprises that I didn’t see coming. I was completely consumed as everything unfolded for this couple both in the mystery they were working on and in their relationship. Amidst all the drama there was a bit of humor that shook things up just enough to make me relax before I’d get all wound up again. Brilliant!
As always, I highly recommend this one to all my alpha hero loving book buddies. But be prepared, Dex will surprise you along the way.
I get a kick out of these books in the Wilde Ways series. They bring a mix of things that work really well together. They are more of a comedy suspense with a growly, jealous and protective hero, and a heroine who brings a bit of sass.
Dex was hilarious. He's kind of crazy but the good crazy. You learn about him in previous books and you first think he is very careless with others lives but you learn there is more going on in the background where he's concerned. He's a bit of a stalker and crazy possessive, and I love it!
This series is pretty fun for a romantic suspense series. The author has a good sense of humor and brings it life in the characters. Fun read!
My second time trying to read this, first time I really wasn't in the mood this time it felt as if I was reading a completely different book. Still surprises me how my mood can shape my feelings for a book.
Dex and Lacey I liked. I did skip over the sex scenes after the first one.
This one has been on my tablet for awhile and I finally got around reading it. I'm so glad I did! I ended up just totally loving Dex (although my heart will always belong to James!). I loved how jealous he got, how possessive he was with Lacey, how he was super protective though Lacey could take care of herself, his wit. There is just so much to love about Dex.
Dex and Lacey go undercover though Lacey has no idea what this case is about. Dex won't give anything away, as this has some secrets about Lacey.
It took about 20% for it to pick up for me but ended up really loving it. Mostly because of Dex. Just the way he was with Lacey and how he kept aggravating Lacey's ex.
This is a good addition to this series with secrets revealed and family discovered. Definitely recommend if you are a fan of Cynthia Eden. Most especially if you like James (Ghost) like I do. Though Dex isn't quite James, he reminded me of him a bit.

Quotes & Faves:
💘 He locked his hands around her waist, lifted her up, pinned her to the nearby wall, and kissed her. His tongue thrust past her lips, tasted the sweetness that he absolutely craved with every fiber of his being, and for a time, he just took.
💘 Kissing her was also necessary because he just wanted her mouth.
💘 “The world can think I’m a bastard. Everyone else can call me a monster, but I want you to trust me. I want you to believe I’m different. Just give me that, would you?”
💘 “Not your Lacey,” Dex snapped. He was beyond not in the mood for this crap. He needed to have a come-to-Jesus-meeting with this fool ASAP. “Back off, Tom.” 💘 See? Possessive.
More like 2.5 stars but rounded up for standard Cynthia Eden safe
Speaking of standard Cynthia Eden...... this is the same book she’s written hundreds of times. She has a template a sticks to it. Just enough plot and emotional depth to get by, but not real exploration outside of her norm.
Possessive alpha who is rich ☑️ Heroines life is in danger (usually caused by an ex boyfriend) ☑️ Layer of crime mystery that gets in the way and interrupts of the romance ☑️
Someone let me know when CE tries something different
Safety; No cheating, no OW drama, some OM drama H not a man white h not a virgin Both celibate awhile
This could be my favorite Cynthia Eden novel. I loved Dex's obsession with Lacey. She had a soft spot for him from the beginning. The mystery aspect of the book was nice as well, although I had a feeling of deja vu the whole time I was reading those final scenes with the villain(s.) 4½ stars
I held off on reading this book because I was just so mad at Dex from the last book! He’s high up in the CIA so he’s used to moving pawns around on the chessboard of life and always being several steps ahead of everyone else. Due to the nature of his job, he’s kind of a butt.
In true Cynthia Eden fashion, however, within a few pages I’m now 100% on the Dex train. I really love how her heroes go from normal guys to completely wrecked over their heroines. Dex is no different. He manipulates people. It’s second nature. People call him on it, but he ignore that since he’s looking 3 steps ahead at the bigger picture. But with Lacey, she makes him pay attention. He finds he doesn’t like seeing her hurt. And when he lies or omits truths, it hurts her.
Dex needs Lacey to pretend to be his fiancee for an op. He doesn’t blackmail her exactly, but he does offer her some information she really wants to help him. She agrees and Dex really loves having her as his fiancee. Lacey for her part has always known Dex for exactly what he is. A master manipulator. She is also the only one who can tell when he’s lying. Once she’s able to see under the mask, she realizes she likes the real Dex.
But Dex is hiding something from her. And that will put them both in danger.
There are some very interesting twists and turns, and a new character I want to see more from. I really love this Wilde series and can’t wait for the next book!
Look I thoroughly enjoy this series which mixes up romance, suspense and quite often a healthy injection of humour but sadly this isn't one of my favourites. Why not ? Well having read about manipulative Dex in other books I really expected more from him. He's always been this smooth talking operator who kept his cards close to his chest whilst getting everyone else to toe his line. Yes he does kind of blackmail Lacey to pretend to be his fiancee but actually here in his own book I thought he appeared quite weak at times. Lacey however was fun to read about and at times more than a little underestimated by Dex. I liked that she was brave but never bull headed , plus she's a lady who owns her own sensuality and boy do this couple repeatedly burn up the sheets ! What I really enjoyed apart from working out who the villain was were the characters who helped support this couple. Obviously I cannot say too much but I will say that Wilde Securities definitely has room for more operatives and that obviously means more fun, action packed and seriously sexy books to come. This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I miss the days when I used to read CE’s darkish reads.. with badass and strong heroines. Can we go back to those days.?
Nothing new or original here. Same old, same old. Heroine is once again in danger. Eric (H-B1) has become some sort of a matchmaker. This series will never end because apparently there will be a book 11.
A Fast-paced Suspenseful Blockbuster with A Pretend Engagement, Real Feelings budding, Half-Truths + Secrets, Bullets Flying AND a Delicious HEA! DEVOURED this in a few hours. So in love with Dex & Lacey!
Dexter Ryan, Higher up CIA ‘Boss’ [& Ex Navy SEAL, A Fun Fact we found here!], Smug Manipulative Bastard, A guy we know from Previous books, who has so many layers! Cynthia Totally redeemed him here❤. Lacey Amari, Wilde securities agent, Sassy kickass Sweet+Lovable, She'd introduced in ‘Chase after Me’ (Dex+Lacey have their amusing 1st meet there too!). We find here, Why she's Eric Wilde's Family! (She's a character with a mysterious past, I loved to get to know it!) So I was thinking how exactly Dex “Blackmails” her into taking the case..Well She's using Wilde resources (Unknown to Eric) to find the truth about her parents' death in a Car crash..So if she helps Dex, becomes his fake-Fiance for this 1 case, He won't tell Eric this (Dex's good, He wouldn't Have told Eric what she was doing regardless, it's her secret to tell, But she doesn't Know this until later!), + He'll Help her Find the truth of the Car crash (& He does!).
So why does Dex wants specifically Lacey on the case? 1st, they won't have to fake attraction. Both have a spark that's White-Hot! (Their Desire Explodes soon *wink*). 2nd She's Strong+Kickass AND The Main/Real reason why Dex brought her here is revealed later on.. As Danger increases, They protect eachother, & Soon start Caring (Feelings Grow!). As Truths Reveal, we see past Dex's Asshole Facade to the Real man Within: the guy who've gone through so much to protect the good in the world, And I fell so hard for him (So does Lacey!).
The Aeroplane Ride, Kiss & emotions, the Lodge & Proposal, Ball Shooting, The whisper Room, Roman Talk (R's a new character & so Important here!), Lacey seducing Dex (Yes that happens! *HOT TIMES AHEAD*)
Dex may have been very Secretive about the Case, but I loved that he's honest about his feelings for her *Swoon*. He so proves that she Can trust him! “The world can think I'm a Bastard. Everyone else can call me a monster, but I want you to trust me. I want you to believe I'm different.” ~Dex
Hell at Cabin, Her Family Truths, Roman's connection to her+Dex, Investigation+Her Ex Is here *Why?*, Sexy times, Recon work, Fire alarm+Chaos, Antony comes (Lovely to see him!), Dex letting her in.. “Dex wasn't the bastard he wanted the world to believe he was. Lacey was realising that he was so much more.”
As the Case Finale comes, Dex+Lacey have Grown very close, Will the Danger/MasterMind tear'em apart? Whisper Room secrets, Her Ex's Truth, Dex's Love Confession *Yay!*, Friends Protection, Lacey in danger *Oh no*, The Final showdown! (Cue I Love Yous❤.)
These scenes (Hell, the whole book) was so Heart-racing! I was on edge throughout, Sometimes Teary eyed too. Gladly the Case's Over now and Cue HEA! (Dex+Lacey so deserves this Happiness❤) Their Pretend Engagement becomes oh-So real, Awesome Epilogue (They marry!!). #Fun #FamilyIsEverything
P.S. I hope we get Roman's And Antony's books in the Wilde world!
If you haven't read a book by Cynthia Eden yet I'm not sure why. Her books are so good and I really enjoy reading them.
For some reason, they are so easy to get into. Plus she writes great hero's. I just love them. Very alpha with a heart of gold. You won't be able to pass them up. I know I can't. Smoking hot!
I've been waiting for Dex's story. There is something about him that just made me want to scream at him and hug him at the same time. Crazy I know, but I can't help my feelings. He's the type of man that pushes himself into your life if you want him to or not.
Right away you know Dex's feelings for Lacey. He might not have shared them with her, but we knew. So even when he was not being upfront with her you know how much he cared about her. I'm not sure he knew how to share his feelings in the beginning with her. It took her getting to know him and figuring him out for Dex to feel free to be him.
You'll feel so bad for Lacey and her past. The loss of her family really messed her up but it also made her more caring in some ways. I really liked her and how she was able to see what was beneath people. She deserved all the happiness in the world.
Their story is so much fun to read about. I really enjoy being part of them falling in love. I also really liked the mystery in this story. I wasn't sure who the bad guy was until the end. Really kept you in the story.
I also liked visiting with Anthony and meeting Roman. I hope we get their stories. I would mention that even though the stories and standalone the whole series is much better if read in order. You don't want to miss any of these great heroes.
Loved it! Dex is full of many surprises. Lacey is a pawn for Dex, that turns into so much more. Great writing and witty banter. A look at a couple of characters who will hopefully get their own story. Lots of twists and suspense. Of course, plenty of steam!
SAY I DO is the tenth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult WILDE WAYS romantic, suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Wilde Ways Security. This is CIA Agent and former US Navy SEAL Dexter Ryan, and Wilde Ways security specialist Lacey Amari’s story line. SAY I DO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from several third person perspectives including Lacey and Dex, SAY I DO follows several paths, and the acrimonious relationship between CIA Agent and former US Navy SEAL Dexter Ryan, and Wilde Ways security specialist Lacey Amari. Dexter Ryan has lusted after Lacey Amari since the first time they met, and now that Dexter needs a ‘significant other’ for an undercover operation, Dexter proposes a ‘fake engagement’ to Lacey in an effort to get closer to the woman with whom he will fall in love but Dexter’s assignment is about to go very wrong when Lacey becomes the target of an unknown assassin. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Lacey and Dex, and the potential fall-out as secrets are revealed, and revenge is a dish best served dead.
Lacey Amari thinks Dex is the biggest a$$hole, and struggles to accept his offer to go undercover on his latest assignment but Lacey is about to discover that not all is as it seems, and Dex’s lies of omission are about to break her heart. Dex is struggling with the information that he knows about Lacey’s past but information that is about to spiral Lacey’s life out of control. In an effort to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love, Dex finds himself battling between head and heart when sins of the past are about to reveal the truth.
The relationship between Dex and Lacey is tempestuous at best. Dex is stubborn, arrogant and alpha; cheats and lies, and in this Lacey struggles to trust the man that is willing to die to protect her life. When Lacey discovers that Dex knows more than he is willing to reveal, our heroine’s issues of trust place her in the direct line of fire . The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and sensual without the use of over the stop, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a small ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the return of Lacey’s boss and owner of Wilde Ways Security Eric Wilde. We are introduced to Roman Valentino and his bodyguard Heather Madding; Duke Jonathan Radcliff and his wife Elizabeth, as well as several CIA agents working with Dex on his current assignment.
SAY I DO is a story of secrets and lies; betrayal and revenge; trust and uncertainty; revelations and love. The premise is intriguing and thrilling; the romance is provocative; the characters are edgy, flirty and inspiring.
I honestly had no idea how Cynthia was going to get me to like Dex. He's such a dick. And I mean DICK. He manipulates his people and ALL people like they are chess pieces.
So, we have Dex going to Wilde and requesting Lacey work a case with him. Eric is sure Lacey will refuse since she hates Dex. Boy is he shocked when Lacey agrees to go to CO with Dex to work this case. Unknown to Eric, Dex is blackmailing Lacey into going. He is threatening to expose to Eric and Ben (her cousins that no ones are her cousins) that she has been using Wilde resources to find out info on who killed her parents.
While in route to CO Dex tells Lacey that she will be acting as herself and that she will be his fiance'. As soon as they arrive, Dex makes a big show of proposing to her in the lobby of the resort. The ring is very nice. Then her ex (a rock drummer) shows up and tries to be all lovey with Lacey. DEx is super jealous and blows him off.
Later while at a function Lacey sees a couple whose case she was on and saved their lives. He is an English royal and the couple is very happy. A moment later a shot is fired and nearly takes out Dex but Lacey knocks him to the floor.
This was a dollar deal on Amazon. USA Today bestselling author. One of the better ones. Although this is 10th in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. I did. It wasn't hard to follow.
Can't put my finger on why it was a 3 star, not a 4. I liked Lacey. Top notch heroine. Dex was ok. Supposed to be one of the top tier CIA guys. I would have thought his minions would be less inept, but I guess whatever drives the story.
Lots of sex (protected). Mystery was ok too. I don't know if the bad guys were in previous books. HEA of course, with one more hot sex scene.
Holy cow. So much going on in this story and so many twists, but the love between Dex and Lacey snuck up and overwhelmed them both beautifully. I loved every second even when I was on edge or angry. Cannot wait for the next story.
I was impatiently waiting for Dex's story and it certainly did not disappoint! I knew he was going to be a growly, possessive and protective alpha, but he turned out to be surprisingly witty and sweet. And Lacey was the perfect partner and I couldn't have loved her more -- I might have a girl crush on Lacey! These books are so much more than contemporary romance with all the twists and turns and surprises along the way. Dare I hope that we get Roman's and Antony's stories as well?! I hope so because I love this series and can't wait for more from Ms. Eden. Another 5-star recommended read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
“I’m the baddest wolf out there,” he assured her roughly. “Never forget that.”
Dex is a CIA operative who needed someone who wasn’t affiliated with the agency and thought Lacey was the perfect partner because not only could she hold her own but she’d make a believable fiance where he'd want her so badly he would do anything to have her. That he can’t keep my hands off her.
I never give out 5 stars but I literally could not put this book down. I LOVED DEX. From the first chapter till the very end. He really was smug, arrogant, and manipulative. He was also a bit of a stalker (“Not fucking stalking,” he growled. It wasn’t. It was intel gathering) and extremely obsessed and possessive of Lacey (“I protect what’s mine. I guard it closely. And when someone tries to take what I value, I destroy the fool who made that mistake.")
There were so many scenes that stuck out to me. Of course the first chapter when he stalks her/gets intel on her then actually going to the club because she was apparently dancing too close to someone Now excuse me, but I have to make sure that bastard gets his hands off my fiancée even though they weren't really engaged. It was the 2/3 chapter that really got my attention, where Lacey tells Dex that someone shoved a gun in her face and he says Tell me the fucker’s name and he’s dead. and the next day BAM his knuckles were all bruised. I personally thought it was sweet of him. I also thought he went to finish off the guy dancing with her but it was the attacker/stalker. "I went in for a chat. I didn’t like hearing about the gun in your face..." “August put a gun to your head. He killed two women who looked exactly like you. You were the one who took him down. Don’t you think—with a man like that—he might have now become fixated on you? That if he got out, he’d turn his obsessive compulsion on you?” “Couldn’t very well let that happen to my new partner. So I went to have a talk with him.”
I gushed every single time Dex told Lacey she was perfect.
“You don’t need to change a fucking thing. You’re perfect as you are. Remember that.”
“How many times do I have to tell you…you’re perfect as you are?”
“Nothing is perfect,” she whispered. “Not with anyone or anything.” “I don’t know about that. I think you’re pretty damn close to perfect.”
“She is a fucking sweet perfect rainbow, and don’t you ever say any different.”
And I gushed even more when she knew whether his smile was authentic or not
“I’ve caught a few of your real smiles. They were fleeting and brief, but they stuck out in my mind. Now that I know what those look like, it’s hard to be fooled again.” Well, well. He leaned toward her. “And that’s why you’re perfect,” he told her. “Absolutely perfect.”
He grinned. Her breath caught. “There it is.”
“You stopped pretending, I saw your real smile again, and I—” “You what?” he asked when she stopped. “I liked your real smile.”
I LOVED the scenes where Lacey tried to protect Dex.
“Everyone, get down!” Lacey shouted. “What?” Dex asked. “What are you—” She threw her body into his just as a gunshot rang out.”
She grabbed him and jerked him toward her, rolling him so that she was now on top of his body. So that she was protecting him? Fuck, no. “Not happening.” He twisted his body. Rolled them again
And the scenes where he realized...
He was still staring into her eyes. She might matter.
Didn’t she get it? He would agree to anything for her. It took a moment for the full ramifications of that thought to sink in. Holy shit. I would do anything she wanted.
His Lacey was a fighter. That was one of the things he loved most about her. Loved? Wow. Hold the freaking phone…had he—
Because when he thought about Lacey being his, he wasn’t just talking about a hot time in bed. He was talking about forever. Now how do I make that happen?
But she mattered.
“You matter, and I need you to get that.”
“How dare you act like some kind of jealous—” “I am.” Guttural. Also not the response she’d expected. “What?” His breath heaved out. “I’m fucking jealous.”
“What do you want, Dex? What is it that you want most in the world?” “I’m looking at her.”
“Watch it, Dex,” she heard herself chide, “or I’ll start to think you care.” His gaze swirled with intensity. “I. Fucking. Do.”
“When it comes to my fiancée, I don’t play. Ever.”
“Sweetheart, I fell in love with you the first time we met.” His grin lit his gray eyes. Impossible. Wasn’t it? But… “I pulled a knife on you the first time we met.” “The knife was unnecessary. You were already holding my heart.”
“You stay safe, my love. Remember that you matter to me more than anything else. If you get so much as a bruise on you, I will be very, very pissed off.”
"She’s my something good. I look at her, and I know the world is worth saving."
SWOON. Who would have thought the big bad CIA operative was so sweet!! I LOVED their book so much. I knew it would be good, I just didn't think it would end up being my favorite out of the series! I knew the mission had something to do with her, I just wasn't expecting her to have another family member. It was a bit obvious to who the killers were in my opinion. Freakishly nice people are always off to me. Anyways, can't wait to read Roman's book next!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
What can I really say other than I loved it! It was fun and exciting seeing Dex thrown off by new feelings and that there was more to him than most people realized or saw. And without spoiling anything I need to say that I loved how perfect the epilogue was for this story. Wilde is still one of my favorite series!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Finally the long-awaited romance with the very manipulative Dex !
I must admit that after the little glimpses we had of Dex in the previous book, I was very curious to see him ... And especially in front of Lacey who is a badass in her own right =D
And I was not disappointed !
The plot was super twisted because EVERYONE looked suspicious and Dex's lies and manipulations easily clouded the waters but I also really enjoyed the romance between him and Lacey and the way they gradually fall in love and they protect each other !
Special mention for Dex who is a morally questionable character, a bit crazy but terribly endearing ! I absolutely loved how over the pages we discover little by little his true personality ... And the way he manages to manipulate everyone and creates a certain image of him =D
In short, a spy romance that I devoured in one sitting !
PS: obviously now I'm super curious to read the book with Anthony, the geek ... badass spy ??
Past me bought this book when it was on sale and like ... kinda think past me was a goddamn genius :D
I'd read a few of the Wilde books before, and am reading them piecemeal. It's interesting because I am generally NOT for "bodyguard romances" - I think it's unethical - the person definitely would be distracted etc - so I've kinda been reading the ones where it's ... not ... so much like a bodyguard? Or where the premise/book blurb REALLY draws me. And also I trust Cynthia Eden to deliver a good story. So there's that. ALSOOOOO I loooove me a smitten hero, and Eden excels at that. <3
So here we have Dex - and right before this I'd read Antony's book [Wilde 12] and James' book [Wilde 6]. I just ... >.> Kinda loved the idea of uber spymaster - who was SO OBVIOUSLY in love with his wife and Dex is just everywhere all at once and I really wanted to read his book.
I'd actually :X been reluctant to read this at first cuz I didn't know the characters and I don't care for enemies to lovers - but it's ... not so much enemies to lovers, and it's ... well they're not actually partners. And Dex is SO FREAKING SMITTEN. <3
... There was a slight misdirect/I wondered if the "baddie" was one guy - I was like "seems like a stretch - I wonder how it'll work" but ... then more happened and I was like "HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THIS PERSON IS SUSPICIOUS AND IS AN ISSUE?!?" Granted I definitely didn't see it at first, but it got really obvious.
Still - there was so much suspense, and definite relationship development, and it makes sense cuz they knew/knew of each other, so it's not like they were total strangers, and I loved that Lacy could read Dex so well. AND HE'S JUST SO FREAKING SMITTEN.
I know I'm definitely going to be re-reading this book <3 honestly I'd say ... B+? [I'm actually not sure if I finished it the 26th or 27th but you know - whatever.]
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "SAY I DO" Cynthia Eden your books are akways such a pleasure to read you never disappoint there full of intense drama, suspense, intrigue, danger, secrers, hot steamy passion, humor, banter, twists that make for a very thrilling story. Dexter "Dex" Ryan a top CIA operative his friend Erik Wilde who owns Wilde Security and Lacey Amari works for him he has his top operative Anthony Kyle who is a very skillful tech look into her he want kniw everything about her. Dex asks Lacey to be his fake fiance in an undercover assignment he annoys her but also intrigues her but he's keeping secrets they go to Colorado where there been a rash of killings. Not knowing who the bad guys are and who the target is but when they got shot at he'll do anything to protect her he wants the whole fake fiance thing to be read he just has to convince her. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Lacey who was so smart, sexy, sassy & Dex who was so arrogant, manipulative, sexy as sin, and hilarious at times their characters shined in this story so well worth the read. I definitely recommend to get this amazing book that has you sitting on the edge of your seat from beginning to end it won't disappoint.
Cynthia Eden has some of the hottest males in this series but right along beside them is a female who is just as strong, just as smart, and just as hot. Say I Do (Wilde Ways #10) has both with Dexter Ryan and Lacey Amari. Dexter borders on crossing the confidence level into too arrogant then add in his ability to use any knowledge or “secrets” to his advantage almost takes him out as a hero for me. However the ability to get a mission accomplished and his protective feelings for Lacey redeem him.
Say I Do has cold hardhearted villains, heart stopping suspenseful action and hot-blooded chemistry between Dexter and Lacey. Doesn’t matter whether they want to admit it or not, it is there for all readers and supporting book characters to see.
This is Wilde Ways being wild. I recommend Say I Do to anyone who enjoys contemporary romantic suspense. Also it reads fine as a stand-alone so don’t let its place as book 10 in the series stop you from reading. Cynthia Eden never disappoints.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Say I Do is the tenth in the Wilde Ways series by Cynthia Eden and like the others in the series, is one wild ride! Dexter Ryan is the consummate chameleon. Way up in the upper echelons of the CIA (perhaps he runs the whole deal, who really knows?), he's smooth, suave, ridiculously well trained, plans for every contingency out to the zillionth degree, and is slipperier than a well-oiled anything. And he's never been in a real relationship. Feelings? Nah... he's really bulletproof!
When he pairs up with Lacey Amari for an op--or rather, he persuades her to join him in posing as his fiancee, she's exactly what he hoped for at his side. She's smart, strong, resourceful, incredibly well trained, and it doesn't hurt that there is absolutely nothing fake about the chemistry that flares hot between them.
Loved Cynthia Eden's lighter-hearted RS--the page turning plot and fiery emotions are perfectly combined with humor and the result is a read I couldn't put down. Looking forward to catching up with some in the series I missed before and to anything coming next from Ms Eden!
Dexter Ryan- CIA Agent always gets what he wants by any means.
Why do I pay you the big bucks if you can’t impress me?” “You don’t pay me the big bucks. I make that on my own.” Antony glanced back at him. “I’ve had like…two minutes to work. Two minutes. You can’t expect miracles.”
Lacey Amati- Wilde Agent smart, tough and beautiful. He has something she wants.
“Good night, Lacey. Sleep well.” A quick wink. “Maybe you’ll even dream of me.” “If I do, it will be a nightmare.”
There is definitely more to Dex than meets the eye.
Someone has to do the dirty work and make sure that the world stays safe. And no, it’s not pretty. And, no, it’s not a job that lets me keep my hands clean.”
I love everything about this series Every new couple is my favorite. Possessive Alpha males, strong capable females, suspenseful, laugh out loud humor. Everything you want I a 5 Star masterpiece.
“You just can’t admit you like me, can you? And it’s hurtful since I’ve thought we were best friends for like…ever.” I can’t wait to read about Antony and Roman PLEASE!!!
I have been a big fan of this series since I discovered both it and the author so I was excited to dive in to yet another Wilde Ways book. Say I Do is takes the reader on an insanely wild ride involving a fake engagement and a getaway in Colorado that turns in to a killing spree where it becomes unclear who is manipulating who and who exactly are the bad guys and who is the target. The one thing that is clear throughout the book is that Dex is going after what he wants no holds barred, and that is Lacey. He will stop at nothing to both protect her, and have her as his....for real.
Lacey and Dex's chemistry was sizzling. This book was go, go, go in terms of action and drama from beginning to end. I did feel at times like maybe there was a little too much going on and it got a little complicated and that it took away from the book somewhat. I do really enjoy the author's writing style and really enjoyed this book overall, I just think this one had a little too much going on at times. I did love Dex and Lacey as characters though!!
Lacey works for Wilde Security and has been using their resources for her own agenda. Dex is a CIA operative and blackmails Lacey into being his partner on an op. Dex is scary, manipulative, and sexy and Lacey agrees to his “fake” marriage proposal. They are going to a ski lodge as a couple, to try and draw out the bad guys. But see Dex knows the truth about Lacey and when she finds out, she’s enraged. When the bad guys start shooting, Dex keeps her by his side. He has always worn a mask for others to see but Lacey sees the real man he wants to keep hidden. When Lacey is taken, Dex rushes to save her but can he get to her in time? My very favorite book in this series. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, there is so much action and secrets. The sex will blow you away and you’ll need a cold shower after. Dex and Lacey are both strong and brave people. I absolutely loved Dex, he cracked me up with his sarcastic humor.
