The authorities claim the serial killer doesn’t exist. Only Darcy has the unwavering courage to follow his deadly trail. One dead girl at a popular campsite. A second woman’s corpse tossed along a running trail. And unexplainable spider bites on both victims. After the medical examiner concludes both women died from venomous spider bites, the police want to close the case. Then a third woman goes missing, and Darcy discovers a dangerous man linked to the three victims. Is a murderer stalking the darkness? While Darcy and Ketchum hunt an invisible killer, a crooked police officer from Darcy’s past throws roadblocks in front of them. Who is he trying to protect? Darcy must catch a serial killer before sunset. If she fails, the woman dies.
This was a really well written Series. The characters were well thought out. I love this author and so far I have liked all his books that I have read. If you like good psychological thrillers do yourself a favor and read this series. Happy reading friends.
What a beautiful ending to The Darkwater Cove series. I'll be the first to admit that when the series took a turn and Darxy decided to return to the FBI, I was not pleased with the direction the series was going. I felt like putting the character was a step back, rather than a step forward. Thats not to say I didn't understand the reason for it, without Darcy working with the FBI having a killer for her to chase wouldn't be logical or easy to write in any way that made sense and I also was NOT a fan of the idea of giving Julian an attractive, young and statuesque partner, I assumed it would cause major issues in Julian and Darcy's new marriage, and it kind of does but not in the way I was expecting so I was pleasantly surprised and happy to be wrong. As I've come to expect from Dan Padavona, the "thrilling" aspect of the story was amazing, and this story has a really interesting idea for a fictional serial killer that I've never heard of before, which i really enjoyed. So often these thriller novels can seem like carbon copies of one another and that's never an issue with his work. But as usual what I love most is the ability he has to bring heart and soul into a thriller about serial killers. Each of his works always end with a heart warming scene that for me personally, makes the books that much better. I've enjoyed this series immensely and I would absolutely recommend Dan and any of his work to any reader of thrillers and mysteries. I look forward to reading whatever he has next to offer.
This book will make you want to clean out all of your cupboards and closets to make sure there are no spiders there. Good for me, I read it just in time for spring cleaning.
Darcy is an FBI agent who is convinced that a serial killer is using deadly Australian spiders to murder people. Don't breathe or the spider will bite you. There is a subplot with her daughter, too. This book kept me up all night. It is a really good book with lots of twists. I have never read a dull book from this author.
So, I have now read all six books in the Darkwater Cove series. The first one was pretty good. The next 3 were OK. The 5th was a mess and this one was just OK too. There are a lot of things in every book that go beyond belief and it's just very weird that this author seems to be obsessed with serial killer kidnappings as there is at least one serial killer kidnapping in every one of them. In 5 of the 6, Darcy, her 2 children and her husband are each kidnapped...her daughter is kidnapped by two different serial killers in 2 of the books! Come on now! Although these books were not all together bad, I will not be reading anything more from this author.
In my opinion this is one creepy book. When you use bugs and spiders for bad things, you get an EWWWW from me. I found myself on the edge of my seat turning the pages. Dan Padavona gave me the suspense I look for from him. There were three stories going on at the same time, Jennifer and Sean, Julian and Darcy and Darcy and the case. Dan Padavona did a great job of hiding who the real killer was. I knew who the killer was the minute I was introduced to him. I was surprised by the ending, we will have to see if it holds true. With all the chaos going on in Darkwater Cove I loved how steady Julian is throughout the story. I loved Don't Breathe and in my opinion if you are a Dan Padavona fan, I don't think he disappoints with Don't Breathe. I love the Darkwater Cove Series, if you love a page turning, suspenseful stories, then I recommend this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.
What happens when an FBI profiler knows there is a serial killer at work and the local police department does not believe her? Don’t Breathe, the latest Darkwater Cove Psychological Thriller will definitely delve into this situation. Darcy and Ketchum need to find this invisible killer who is using venomous spiders to murder his victims before the next one dies. Padavona has spun another great story with wonderful characters. A very scary tale if you are afraid of spiders. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This book brings us back to Darkwater Cove with Darcy racing to catch another serial killer. Women found dead with spider bites as cause of death. Something isn't adding up and Darcy knows it. When another woman goes missing, she's racing against the clock to figure out who the unsub is. Can she figure it out before there's another body? Great story with more character development. The characters just work well together and it makes the story flow. Greatly enjoyed this book. Highly recommend!
...but good. This has to be one of the weirdest serial killer ever. Maybe creepiest is more the word I'm looking for. This was a decent series that kept me engaged and willing to read the next book. One thing I have to mention is, even though each book is separate from the other you really need to read them in their chronological order to be able to understand the flash back to past sequences.
Darcy and Ketchum have their hands full and Jennifer will learn yet another reason sneaking around is not a good thing to do. This has been a journey that as a reader I am glad I took because it was interesting and the characters, like any great series were worth reading about and getting to know!
Finished the last in the series and must say I'll probably have nightmares about spiders. I hate spiders. I so enjoyed every book in this series, plus the wolf lake series but now will take a break while I await the next wolf lake book. Thank you Dan Padavona for keeping me entertained these few weeks.
Very well written and entertaining from the first book until the last. Darcy and her family now feel like old friends and I hope to cross paths with them again. Highly recommend to anyone while enjoys a goid suspense/thriller read.
What a great series, every one held me on the edge of my seat to the end!! I will check for more series you have written... Bravo !! The characters were so interesting. I will recommend your books to all my friends !! Keep writting, I will watch for more books. Thanks so much 😁
I am totally going to read all of Padavona's works and will be a fan of his future novels. The FBI needs more agents like Darcy, she has a knack in profiling these serial killers. This book winds up the series nicely but I wish there were more.
I absolutely loved this series, the characters became real on the pages...I found myself taking out loud to the people, while reading. I don't want to give anything away, you just have to read these for yourself, be prepared to read term all the way to the end,you won't want to put them down, and the killer is not who you think he is.
I enjoyed the series. Catching bad guys has always been a good trade for me. Excellent work. Dan kept me guessing who the killer was all the way up until the end. Well done.
This is a great book and series. This series is the best thriller I have read in a long time . I highly recommend this series. If you are a thriller lover you will really enjoy this series
Great series. Got to really enjoy the Haines family. Thank you for not messing with Darcy and Julian and keeping his partner as a friend. I look forward to more of Dan’s books.
As you grow your family is there for you. Teens make mistakes, but what did you learn is what 's important! Life is toughest when you are a teenager! Remembering what you learned is most important now!!
How many times is Darcy's family get in peril and Jennifer gets abused. One get beaten, one gets kidnapped and one gets stabbed, all at death's door. Don't forget Darcy got stabbed. I think Darcy needs a new profession. The plot is really tired.
A great ending for a riveting series! The Dark Water Cove series is filled with unexpected twists and turns that capture the reader's attention and at the end leaves them ready for the next adventure.
Happy to hear darcy,s decision. I live in Michigan, no big ugly spiders crawling around here. But have read spiders hate the smell of vanilla. I would be taking baths in it.🙉🙉
Darcy, Julian and crew after another serial killer. Killing by spiders after subduing the victims by an injection in their neck. Another lowlife attacks Jennifer.
I loved the story line of all the Dark water Cove books. But the spiders in this one had me cringing under the covers unable to sleep a couple nights. Spiders just really creep me out even if I know they're our friends.
Another great book! Lots of thrills. Plus some family concerns. Good mystery as to where the spiders are coming from. It was a good read on a cold winter day. I wasn’t frightened of spiders before!!
This was very interesting and really grabbed my attention. Quite an intriguing plot line with clever twists and turns. As usual I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this series.
These books were great with all the suspense and action plus some great twists and turns!! I really enjoyed the characters. I’m sad this was the last book.
