Penelope

Newly divorced and on my own for the first time in years, I wasn’t looking for a relationship. I had a successful business to run and didn’t need any distractions.

Then I met Cord Renner. Younger, sexy, and confident, he set his green eyes on me and I couldn’t escape even if I wanted to.

Cord

Being sent to live with my uncle for the summer leading up to my senior year of college, wasn’t in my plans. But neither was falling for Penelope Schwartz.

The moment I saw her I knew she was meant to be mine. I don’t care about our age difference, or that she’s temporarily sworn off men.

In secrecy we fall hard and fast, stealing private moments whenever we can. But when our relationship is exposed can we keep the rest of the world from destroying what we have together?

A sexy and steamy age gap romance! An older, newly divorced, successful business woman and a college aged guy who’s struggling to find his way cross paths. What starts out as unlikely match, ends up being exactly what they both need. Their instant attraction is undeniable.

Penelope didn’t think she was ready for a relationship. She knew Cord was only in Merlot for the summer. Just a fun fling was what she needed after her divorce. She never expected to catch feelings.

Cord messed up his life, so his parents sent him to live with his uncle and work for a few months. Some hard labor was supposed to straighten him out. He planned on doing his time and then going back to his life and finishing off school. Penelope was not part of the original plan.

Once they meet and act on their attraction, all bets are off. However, they have been seeing each other in secret because they both know his uncle and parents won’t approve. Their relationship becomes so much more but they will have to figure out how to make it all work when outside influences are trying to tear them apart.

These two definitely share chemistry. Cord is a good guy that makes Penelope feel cherished. She in turn supports him in every way and encourages hum to chase his dream.

The authors deliver a steamy, age gap romance with some drama. It’s a quick read, but it brings the story full circle.

An older woman/younger man romance with a forbidden twist, this book held me captivated of its sexual tension, chemistry, passion, drama and soul-deep love, and I loved it so much.

It was easy to get invested in these characters and their story. Penelope and Cord’s chemistry was scorching. They burned volcanic hot. And honest to goodness they were meant to be together. Their heart called to the other and it was inevitable that they’d both fall. There were challenges and it wasn’t easy, but in the end love always wins.

That Boy was emotional, but at the same time had me smiling. It was sensual, sexy and beautiful. I loved so much about this book – the characters, the writing, the love story, the chemistry, and the emotion that flows through it all. A fantastic read from two of my favourite authors.

Penelope is a newly divorced woman who is rebuilding her life after being married for years. Pen is a successful business woman and the last thing she's looking for is a new relationship. However, she never thought she'd meet a young, sexy and confident guy called Cord Renner and he sends her into a total spin..

Cord is a young walking disaster and gets himself into trouble and is sent away to live with his uncle for summer break before he starts senior year at college. His reluctance comes to a grounding halt when he lays eyes on Penelope Schwartz and is taken off course when he falls for her. They have a secret relationship but fear they will be discovered due to the age gap between them.

I was instantly smitten with both Cord and Penelope and was intrigued by their meeting and relationship that followed.. The chemistry was palpable and off the charts. I was waiting for the moment they'd be discovered but I never expected it to map out the way it does. I was really rooting for the two of them.
Remy Blake does age gap and steamy stories brilliantly. It's great escapism to read a taboo reverse age gap tale. 5 fab stars.. Highly recommend this book..

So my favorite trope is age gap. I don't know why, but I find it so sexy and wrong, in all the right ways. What's even better about the age gap between Cord and Penelope in That Boy is Cord's the younger man, completely smitten and taken with the older woman, Penelope. Why haven't I seen more of this trope, or am I blind?! I think I need more of these salacious tales in my reading future!

Remy Blake had me hooked from the get go. Cord is young and yes, makes mistakes. But what's so endearing about him is he realizes he wants to do better, be better and is invested in his future. When Penelope steps into his life she doesn't judge him! The two click instantly and it's easy to see why, I felt their connection. Penelope is somewhat lost after her divorce, but Cord takes that insecurity and loves her whole. They accepted each other at their core. Their relationship and what it entailed was real and impossible to ignore. In the end the heart wants what the heart wants.

Great afternoon read by this writing duo 💙

Cord and Penelope
21 year old guy; 33 year old woman
Been in trouble with the law; just got divorced recently
Staying with uncle for the summer; a resident of the town

There are so many differences that would cause you to think that they don’t belong together - but who should judge that? It’s a case of two people meeting and needing each other - possibly even making each other better than they would be alone. And it’s not just about them physically getting together, it’s what they get emotionally.

This is a great story. And if you have never read a Remy Blake story before, this would be a good place to start.

This is a sweet story about a divorcee who falls in love with a younger guy. I didn’t like him at first, but he’ll quickly have you in love with him.

Twenty-one-year-old Cord Renner wakes up in hospital and learns that he wrapped his car around a telephone pole after getting drunk at a party. His father decides to send him to spend the summer with his Uncle Ted a town called Merlot. Because Cord is interested in police work, Ted gets him a job as a cleaner at the police station.

Penelope Schwartz is leaving a marriage and moving across town. Once she gets settled she drives over to her lawyer’s office to sign the divorce papers, and of course, Ted Renner is her lawyer. During the past six months she has confided in him and they have become friends, so much so, that Ted asks her out, but she refuses, saying she is not ready.

Cord comes to the office and notices how Penelope is looking at him--“Our eyes connect, green caressing golden brown, and lock on like I’m the missile and she’s my target.”—and wonders if she is his uncle’s girlfriend, until Ted introduces Penelope as his friend. Ted urges Penelope to keep an eye out on his nephew seeing that the police station is across the street from her shop. That “keeping an eye out” soon turns into “all body parts being out”. Although Penelope is the eldest, it is Cord who does the wooing and the seducing. And the seduction scenes are so heated and passionate, making this book so hot that not only your fingers burn when you touch it, but your heart is aflame too, as this relationship deepens into one of love.

There is not a lot of comedy in this story but there are some very clever and witty lines. One that stands out occurs when Penelope is uneasy about the townspeople seeing her and Cord together. Cord replies, “You think they don’t see me go into your store every f*cking morning? I’m not buying clothes, Penelope.” Yes, everybody seems to know, and Uncle Ted ruins everything when he drags Cord home. His parents take away his phone, his computer, and he has no way of contacting Penelope. How does Penelope react knowing that he has gone and she cannot reach him? Cord is devastated that his parents have cut off all communication with her, and he fears that she may think that he abandoned her. How does he handle the situation?

Another age-gap romance were the woman is older than the man, and if you have read any of my reviews, you will know that this is a trope I am not “nuts” about, but the authors always write a good story and the opening line is catchy—“Pain. It’s my first waking thought. Every inch of my body hurts with an indescribable agony.” Of course I had to find out why this character was hurting.

I look for special words that are used in these romance novels, beautiful, expressive words that tell us what is happening without using the “dirty” words. “I know, baby. Let me get you there”. . . . I feel myself fall off unimaginable heights of pleasure and dive right into an abyss I don’t ever want to come out of. . . . “There you go,” he soothes. His voice is so soft and relaxing, but his body is not.” Remy Blake knows just how to use those words to create a tantalizing and ravishing scene to draw the reader in and make them want to stay.

I very much enjoyed this story. I like the way this duo write, because you always know that the words will have substance leading to a hot story with a HEV.

Remy Blake is the writing duo of Jacob Change and Marley Valentine. Separately these authors are awesome and together they are fabulous! "That Boy" is another excellent story by them. Penelope is newly divorced and trying to figure out life on her own. Cord has been banished to his uncle's for the summer to get past his most recent screw up. When you're not looking for it is usually when love finds you. But it's complicated! There is an age difference, someone else is interested in Penelope, and Cord is on a tight leash. They have to keep their relationship a secret and that is no easy feat. This is a great story with wonderful, well written characters. I always look forward to stories by Remy Blake and I can't wait for what comes next from them.

Remy Blake does it again! I love this writing duos and they bring another sizzling story to life that you will be able to read in one sitting! I can't tell you enough how much I adore age gap romance and That Boy had me captivated by the characters and their journey from the very start of the book!

You meet Cord and Penelope, they meet through circumstances and right from the get go you could feel the chemistry... the pull they had for each other. There are obstacles to face but like the saying "It's not worth it if you don't have to fight for it." Penelope and Cord were just meant.

Sizzling, sexy and emotional. Another perfect addition to add to the Remy Blake collection!

“If I’m going to step out of post-divorce hibernation, I don’t want to be just compatible. I want us to have something undeniable.”

That Boy is a novella length, steamy age gap romance. Cord and Penelope are thrust into a new life and learning hope to cope with the changes. This is an easy book to read in one sitting, that leaves you feeling good. Set in a small town where everyone knows everyone and nothing gets past anyone. Cord struggles with Penelope’s worry about the town thinking she is a “Cougar.” He is more than happy to flaunt their relationship in the open, but it’s only a summer fling...isn’t it?

Age gap that works😊

I totally loved reading this book. I must admit that I thought Cord was going to be a bit of a tear away with how we first meet. When Cord goes to stop with his Uncle he meets Penelope and there is a spark between them straight away. Unfortunately Cords parents step in when they find out about Penelope and the age difference and take him back to his home town.. However distance and interfering parents can't keep Cord and Penelope away from each other. Love is stronger than people's opinion. I could of carried on reading about Cord, Penelope, Cordelia and pending twins 😊❤️

3.5*

There are not enough older women/younger men books out there for my liking! So whenever I come across one I grab it up, but apparently I completely missed That Boy when it released a year ago- insert eye rolling emoji.
Cord was all kinds of sweet and swoony. I liked that he wasn't bothered by their age difference at all and just went for it! Same could be said for Penelope, she didn't let it deter her from finding happiness again.
I get that Cord's parents were paying for his college/phones, etc., and he definitely screwed up, but they treated him like such a child, it was a little ridiculous.
The epilogue was sweet, I was happy to see everyone come together.

A great read that you can enjoy within a few hours. This author duo work great together, they create a page turning storyline that keep the reader interested and continuously wanting to see what happens next. Penelope and Cord take us along with them for their steamy age gaped romance that will have you cheering and supporting them from their first interaction. I was on the fence about Ted from time to time but in the end he’s really not that bad of a guy. A wonderful standalone that should be added to your TBR list.

This read by Remy Blake is apart of the All American Boys Series and they have brought another great story to the hands of their readers. I loved Cord and Penelope, older woman/younger man, I never know how I will feel when reading an age gap, but loved it and didn't feel like it was about the age gap at all, it was more of the acceptance of each other and how their lives were up until they met. It was a sweet, sexy romance that turns into so much more. I devoured it and can't wait to read the other authors in the series.

I’ll be sure enough for the both of us for as long as I need to be

I really didn’t think I could hate a character so much in such a small book, but thank you Remy Blake for proving me wrong. I wanted to reach through my kindle and smack a certain character.

Neither cord nor Penelope were looking for love when they meet but nothing matters when you meet the one- not age, not small town gossip, nothing!

I was happy that Penelope was able to experience what it’s like to be cherished and love and what better way then having private moments with Cord in her office.

Steamy, Sexy and oh, so hot!
Everything you want in a fun dirty read!

I really enjoyed Penelope and Cord. The instant attraction was very exciting, the connection was there from the word go! There was no turning back once they got their eyes on each other.

I love a good age gap, and on top of a self redemption?! This just lead to perfect characters.

This will definitely be in my "pick me up" reread rotation!

ARC REVIEW

I really liked this face paced, age gap romance. Cord and Penelope had that insta-love connection that just could not be denied. This book was a quick read, it only took me a couple of hours to finish. This book was short, with that burst of steam. But I also found it to be sweet. They both had so much on their shoulders, and together they healed, which made my happy heart sigh. If you are looking for a quick read with low angst, then I definitely recommend this book!

This story was surprising on many levels. Although the age gap was older woman and younger man, in many ways Cord was actually more emotionally mature than Penelope. It evened things out and made their steamy attraction very believable. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down till I finished. The story took hold of me and kept me invested in seeing them find their happy ending. I highly recommend it.

I went into this book totally blind, so I had no idea it was an age gap, which I read, but not a go to for me. I love Remy Blake books so I knew I'd love Cord and Penelope no matter what the trope. I was right, I totally fell in love with these two! This story totally consumed me! The only thing that would have made this better is if it was a full length novel, would love more of these two!!

Another amazing book from these fantastic authors! Due to their age difference Penelope feels conflicted while Cord doesn't care what other people will say or think. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome and both are dealing with recent issues from their past. This was a nice, short read and a great addition to the series. Looking forward to reading more from these authors!

Cute age gap

I enjoyed this steamy age gap story. I didn’t quite get how the parents had such control over him, but it didn’t deter me from enjoying this. She fresh.. like ink is barely wet.. off a divorce and finds the lust she has been lacking for so long. I like how quickish this one is, also the collaboration of lovely authors who wrote it.

Cord and Penelope raise the temperature

Great fast paced read. Short, sweet and oh so steamy. Cord made a huge mistake and now has to do some restitution for his Uncle who is also Penelope lawyer. Loved that Uncle didn't get the girl. Thought it weird that Cords mom and Dad were that strict with him being over 21. Over all it was a great read and they had great chemistry.

One of the Best Reverse Age-Gaps I’ve read

Remy Blake’s writing is smooth as it pulls you in and embraces you. I loved this story of Cord and Penelope’s relationship. This reverse age-gap was written so well and realistically, even considering the HEA romance requires. Will definitely seek out more of Remy Blake’s stories!

Sexy as sin

This book was amazing. For once the older woman gets the younger man. Age is just a number and it needs put out there more often. Cord may not have been in Penelope's plans but you know what they say about best laid plans. These two were amazing together.
