She brings more than his tattoo to life… Leaving the military had always been in Hunter Donovan future—either by casket or choice--turns out, it was choice. Early on, he made a promise to himself that if he ever got to the point where he grew too cold, too hardened and the missions didn’t matter, then he’d get out. Working for his Delta brother’s security and investigation company seems a logical choice. His attraction to the sexy tattoo artist next door…not so much. She brings more than his tattoo to life, she brings his body to life, as well. Too bad Christa is a single mother because he is far from father material to Dillan. But when her life is threatened and someone tries to abduct her little boy, the hunter and protector inside of Hunter resurfaces, and heaven help the person who dared to take Christa and Dillan from his life.
It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.
Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.
With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…
Hunter can identify those and whilst feeling is a foreign concept for him, he embraces his return to the land of the living...no more shadows. Unfortunately that still leaves the pesky issue of trust, he has trouble trusting anyone, even his brothers that have his back. Seeing the damage that working in the shadows has done, the shell of the man it has left behind, is heartbreaking, Hunter may be fighting to reclaim his life and live again but battling his survival instincts every minute of every hour, every day, is exhausting. With every page you turn, you hope Hunter finds a little more light, a little more hope and peace from his demons. Christa also struggles with trust, she has always been alone and she has secrets, or rather one larger than life secret. You can feel her fear pouring from the page, fear for her, for Dillon, and for the friends she has found. Watching these two very broken souls connect and help heal each other is beautiful, their chemistry also makes it steamy hot and we get a little action and suspense thrown in too. Another great addition to the HC Heroes series.
Can I move to Harland County? Please, pretty please. I have enjoyed all the past books but there is just something about Hunter that had me wanting to pack my bags and head off to the Lone Star state.
I enjoyed reading of Hunter's struggles as he tired to deny his feelings for Christa. He is trying to be someone his grandfather could be proud of. I identified with her over protective momma actions. She has secrets. Hunter wants to discover what she is hiding. What will happen then?
Hunter is a realistic story. It isn't nearly as far fetched as so many books of today. The danger that occurs is believable. Crime families exist. 1% biker clubs are in every state. Women go on the run frequently. The feels created by the positive in this story kept me going all day. That makes for a wonderful read.
"Hunter" is the eighth book in the HC Heroes Series and it is the story of Hunter Donovan, Christa, and her adorable son Dillan. Hunter has left the military by his own choice, better that than in a coffin. Always working in the shadows has left Hunter a flawed man, he doesn't trust and he doesn't feel. Working with his Delta brothers security company he hopes to get back to the man he used to be, if that is even possible. Christa works next door as a tattoo artist and although she is a strong, independent single mom, she cannot allow anyone to get close to her. Her son Dillan is her life and she will do anything to protect him. This book is loaded with fun, passion, romance, family, friends and just enough angst to keep you turning the pages. Five "Superhero" stars for this one!!
Hunter: An Amaing story of believing and understand life again. Hunter and Christa's story was very special. Amazing surprises, twist and turns and lots of heat. He didn't want to believe that he was allow to love a women after what he went through with his mother when he was younger. When he met Christa she was someone very special that he wanted to get to know more. He kept saying to himself he only diservise being friends with nothing else. Then his heart was defrosting the more was around her and with what the guys pointed out to hime he realized there was room for Christa and Dillion in his life. I really enjoyed this addition to this series.
Hunter is the newest addition to Harland County. He spent two years undercover after getting out of the service where he learned to turn off all emotions. Now he’s working on finding his old self. Christa is the gorgeous tattoo artist he’s drawn to but she has a three year old son and Hunter is determined to stay away from her. Until it comes time that neither one can fight the chemistry any longer. The problem is her son’s father comes from a dangerous family and even though he’s dead now Christa is determined to keep her son hidden. Hunter becomes the superhero to both Christa and her son while they teach him to love deeply.
"Hunter" (HC Heroes Book 8) by Donna Michaels is a wonderful story. I absolutely loved Hunter and Christa's story. This was another fantastic addition to this series. I always love reading about all these fabulous characters in Harland County. This story is packed with romance, passion, military heroes, close friends, interesting and entertaining characters, and more. I can't wait to see what happens next. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, military, and series.
Hunter feels like he can't let anyone in. He is working with his buddies but a relationship is totally out 9f the equation. Especially children. This is why he tries to stay away from Crista Crista is trying to stay far away from her past to protect her son. No one knows about it. When things with Hunter start going good, she is even more scared. Especially when he figures out her past. Will Hunter be there when she needs him the most?
Hunter has a broken soul and a wounded heart that's so closed off to any and all. Christa is a single mom not looking for any type of relationship, she can't let anyone close. No one can find Dillon, she can't let her son be hurt. This story made me happy then sad, then heartbroken and lastly in tears. A great book I would recommend.
Donna Michaels writing shines In this story. Hunter is sexy and flawed. Christa is a strong, capable, single mom who doesn't need a man. Want him is an entirely different story and she finds Hunter is too delicious to resists. I love the characters Donna Michaels developed in this series. The little glimpses into the lives of the previous books and their couples is fun and keeps the series flowing. Hunter now tops my list of all the Harland County Heros. Favorite line: We’re gonna have tacos if Cap’N ‘Merica
Hunter and Christa have fireworks simmering between them, but she's hiding from her past and has her son to think about, Hunter being closed off from feeling anything is starting to thaw because of the beauty and her son, exciting to watch the big man fall for them as a family, thank you, Dana Zamora
Hunter worked in shadow ops for two years after serving in Delta force and has lost track of his humanity. He's hoping being around Christa will bring him back from the darkness and he'll find his soul again. This book is part of a series with great characters but can be read on its own. Lots of heat, lots of love, and enough danger to need a hero.
I rate this one five stars!!!!! Tons of action, suspense and hot steamy romance. Donna Michaels you keep putting out these great books and I am going to run out of room on my kindle!!!
Another great addition to Donna Michaels HC Heroes series! Hunter and Christa start out as acquaintances, then become friends with benefits, then so much more. Dillan has completely stolen my heart! Great read! Highly recommend!
Great story of Christa, Hunter and Dillan. While Hunter works to feel again and rid himself of the darkness, Christa focused on Dillan and only him. Will they find their way to each other, guess you’ll have to read “Hunter” to find out.
This is a sizzling story that any single mom is going to love to read. Christa spent every waking hour taking care of her small son convinced she couldn't allow a man in their lives. That was before the right hero came along. Swoon!
This story keeps you between tears and sighs throughout while you keep reading and yet hope it never ends. Hunter makes you wish men were made like that.
