This is a pretty handy book for any authors who have horses in their books and don't know a darn thing about them. It gives an overview of what it's like to work with horses, including various things authors get wrong. It does slant more towards sci-fi/fantasy writers, but it's got info that's worthwhile for authors of any genre.

Well worth the price.
