A hundred lifetimes wouldn’t be enough with her
This book is about Kiera and Lane. Kiera found that Alaska was the most beautiful and terrifying place she’d ever been to. Her intention was to surprise her boyfriend Drake with an earlier-than-planned arrival, but all THREE were surprised! So she was then in need of a job and somewhere to stay.
As Kiera makes her way up the mountain for a job interview at a lodge, she comes across a moose, and swerves into a ditch to avoid a collision. She then grabs her bag and starts to make her way up to the lodge by foot, and hears a car pull up. The gorgeous man that’s driving it is NOT what she expected. His hotness is slightly extinguished as he gruffly asks her why she’s there, and with that unsuitable car. Despite this, she can’t deny how attracted she is to him.
He offers to give her a lift the rest of the way so that she doesn’t miss her job interview. She questions him about whether he thinks she’s cut out for life in the mountains, and he blatantly tells her that he knows she’s not! Kiera is pretty angry with hos this stranger has simply dismissed her abilities and grit, and asks, “Just who do you think you are, anyway?” When he introduces himself as Lane Harrison, her heart sinks. That’s who is meant to be interviewing her!
Kiera pleads her case and promises that she the hardest worker he’ll ever see. He’s in a pretty desperate position, so agrees to a week’s trial, thinking that will give him time to find a suitable replacement anyway. He not only thinks she may not cope with the workload, but he’s also struggling with the magnetic pull and attraction he has for her. He doesn’t need or want the distraction.
Lane and his five brothers inherited Mountain View Lodge from their uncle. For the few weeks they’ve been open, they are all sharing ALL of the jobs around the lodge, so they really need someone to better manage and complete the tasks in an efficient manner. That way, the brothers can focus on their specialist roles. Lane had gotten in strife before when he slept with the wrong woman, and his brothers were determined to make sure he doesn’t make the same mistake again.
But the chemistry they share is powerful. They both find it difficult to keep things purely professional. They’re so drawn to each other. So sharing their first kiss before they’re interrupted in the janitor’s closet, only cements their upcoming and inevitable struggle to not give in to their insatiable desires.
There are dramas, jealousy, possessiveness, misunderstandings, and familial mateship and support. Kiera and Lane are sweet, passionate and steamy together. I was sad to see this quick read end, but I know we’ll see more of ALL the brothers in the rest of the series. I can’t wait to see what happens with Mr. Stick-in-the-mud Dylan in book two. I give this book four and a half woodsy stars.
